The food at West Indian Flavour II is not good or tasty. Rice and beans were really dry. Cabbage was too crunchy and mixed with other vegetables (broccoli florets and carrots) not requested. Oxtails were small, hard with so much cartilage and not well seasoned. There was hardly any sauce in anything. I could not eat the meal. It costs $23.00/each and I bought 2. Both went into the trash. Pineapple and soursop drinks were weirdly foamy and costs $10 ea. Staff were attentive and congenial. Service was quick as I was the lone customer. There were no diners at lunch hour. I will never eat food from this place again. NOTE: West Indian Flavor II is not Royal Maroon, which is directly next door (inside of Blue Caribbean. Royal Maroon had absolutely scrumptious food and better prices. I rate West Indian Flavor II a low 2 out of a possible high of 5.

I was visiting Baltimore and asked a fellow Trini who was from Baltimore, “hey bro, where can I get a good Roti? He immediately responded with you have got to check out West Indian flavor restaurant.!!! I immediately called the establishment and spoke to Miss Glenda, and explained to her that I was visiting and looking for some good Trini food. She responded, “You better come soon because we sell out” Upon arrival, I think I ordered almost everything on the menu, I was hungry, eyes bigger than my stomach 🤦🏽‍♂️!!! My order consisted of one chicken roti with sliced pepper, an oxtail dinner, a shrimp dinner, both accompanied with rice and peas with cabbage but was disappointed they didn’t have any more Mac and Cheese. Also ordered some Pollari, one doubles just to check it out 👍🏽 two bake and salt fish, two solos and two Peardrax. Like I said, I was hungry, the doubles was tasty, oxtail, tender, and juicy bake and salt fish 👍🏽 I will definitely be back!!!

This is the first time in YEARS that I can say my experience here was a good one. I don't know if it is under new management or what, but the attitudes from the workers weren't as bad as it has been in the years prior. The food was always good.

LAZY AND RUDE EMPLOYEES I ordered food online via their website at 4:56 PM, and received the text confirmation that payment went through and that my food would would be prepared and ready for pickup in 35 minutes. I drove the 42 minutes across the city to pick up my food, and upon entering the restaurant, the two employees behind the glass looked at me with confusion and disgust. I was not greeted or asked if I could be helped. When I asked whether the food I paid for was ready I was told literally “we na have that”, and that my order was cancelled for ordering too close (1 hour) to closing time (this rule is not anywhere on their website or restaurant btw). When I said I ordered before that time they offered me the scraps they had left from the day (buss up shut). Needless to say I did not take that offer since I did not order that. I would like to say I am surprised but as a 1st gen Caribbean American I am unfortunately used to dealing with this poor customer service trying to enjoy my cultural cuisine. I am sure the food tastes amazing, but I was never given the opportunity to see for myself. Professionalism & work ethic are sorely needed at this establishment.

Google
I had Dhalpoure dozens of times in Trinidad...this spot is missing some flavors. It's bland compared to the authentic version. Even the curry tasted watered down.

Google
I went there today and got the large curry chicken or should I say curry bones!!! There was very little chicken and plenty of bones. Do I look like a dog? I was very upset when I returned to work only to find a dish of green bones!! You get plenty of peas and rice but for almost $20 I expected more! Guess that was why it was empty! Save your money and go somewhere else!!! So disappointed!!!

Google
This is actually my favorite spot but they have there picks on great service. The older lady has poor customer service she’s rude. I ordered two doubles and goat bussupshut. The doubles were old I return she was rude in denial and when she did take it back they made mine from back which they never do so as I get home start eating the chana was not done big hard like uncooked beans also they put so much pepper on them. How can I trust a spot like this when they play with your food out of spite. The goat might be old as well my stomach still hurts. This only Trinidad spot I know any suggestions in Baltimore City area or just in Md I’ll travel for some good food. I wish I had photos but I literally threw the doubles out. The goat will be next.

Google
I’m incredibly disappointed. I wish I could call this place my spot because I love the roti. I’m embarrassed to refer anyone here to try Trinidadian food because I’m afraid they’ll get poor customer service. There have been 3 occasions we’ve come here and they’re out of goat roti. I called to ask about what they had in stock and they told me yes we have plenty of roti. I get to the place 20 minutes later, now they out and have to make the roti I just called about. It already takes forever for them to actually receive your order and then you need to wait for the food to be prepared. The lady says yes, and then isted all the roti options they had. To be dishonest over the phone and have a customer drive to your location to then be told I have to wait again because there’s no more of the foot item they specifically took the time to inquire about is very disappointing. This is the only Trini spot I know without having to drive far. I would love for it to be a good place and good experience. It’s not that hard. As a family, we spent over $100 in your business each time we buy food there.Get some help, you have the Customer base and they want to support you. I will not keep spending money on poor customer service. Do better!

Yelp
I've been craving roti for a while, so imagine my excitement when I found West Indian Flavour on DoorDash. I ordered the curry chicken buss-up shot. Presentation-wise, the food looked great. The curry chicken was served in a carry-out container, and the roti was folded, wrapped in parchment paper, and placed in a paper bag. I appreciated that the curry chicken wasn't spicy since I can't handle too much heat. Everything was incredibly flavorful. My only issue was that the food wasn't hot upon arrival--it was barely warm. I was too eager and ate it as is, but I know it would've been off the charts if it were hot. I would definitely order again.

Takeisha J.

Yelp
They have definitely fell off. I went and spent $70.00 for oxtails that tasted of sweet pimento, that were also tough.Bland rice that lacked peas, frozen roti that they had for God knows how long. Old curry chicken that lacked flavor, and over cooked curry shrimp. I asked for ginger pineapple juice, and paid $7.00 for store bought guava juice that was put in a fancy bottle. I will NEVER go to this place again. NEGATIVE 5 STARS! I only added 1 star because I had to...

Yelp
I couldn't help myself. First time here and I got excited to do some "research". I ordered goat, beef, chicken and ox tail roti. And two beef patties. Unfortunately I have just one stomach. I ate 1 of the 2 beef patties before I left the store. It was what a beef patty needed to be. Flaky outside and savory inside. Passed the taste test. Got home after a ton of traffic. Rotis were still warm. I started with the goat roti. It was great. Exactly what it needed to be. Not too saucy. Not too dry. Not too mushy. Goat curry has bones so you've been warned. This is not to be eaten like a burrito. Goat curry roti passed the taste test. I have to wait another day to try the others. Patience. I can do this. The store is small. Well lit. Clean. The folks behind the counter are efficient and direct. So do your homework before placing an offer. We ordered in person and waited about 20 mins for 4 rotis and 2 beef patties.

Yelp
I've past this spot going into another store next door a few months ago, and on that day it was non stop customers. Today is no different, non stop customers so I'm anticipating my food is going to be good.

Nesfa W.

Yelp
Decent food spot but they forgot to give me napkins and utensils. Price increase since new management. mixed emotions on the service. Nice spot but could always improve.

Kat D.

Yelp
Food was Very good in my humble opinion! I had the oxtail w/ buss up & a doubles. The doubles was very well seasoned and delicious. thank you so much!

Ki R.

Yelp
DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. I walked in to place an order, she was acknowledging everyone picking up Door Dash orders. A customer who was dining in even said this lady has been waiting a long time. I drove over 20 minutes because they have some of the best tasting roti around. But I promise I will NEVER spend another dollar in this black owned establishment. The lady who is supposed to be providing a service, was IGNORANT AND RUDE. I wish I could give this review ZERO STARS.

Yelp
Great food! Cons Placed my order the day before and still had to stand in line and wait for someone of my food to be made. Always running out of something. Staff likes to argue with customers and are slow. No organization. There are always new rules each visit . I placed an order over the phone as was suggested for big orders. Took two hours of calling to get through. Person who took my order is upset because I called in my order and they are busy with customers standing in line. Wrapped doubles up in tissue paper then place in paper bags . The sauce drips all over the bag and gets your hands messy. There should be a line or sign just for pickup orders.

Yelp
I'm officially addicted! This was my first time trying Trinidadian cuisine and I loved it! One of my clients suggested to try this spot out after our afternoon showings and I'm so glad she did! I am not fully versed in West Indian food so I was excited to try. I got the chicken Buss Up Shut which was delicious!! So flavorful and packed with yumminess. I had the roti to accompany which was equally as delicious. I also has the doubles which I had with the tamarind sauce ! Now when I tell you I think this minus the chicken was my favorite this is my favorite lol. I did get the doubles with some spice which I enjoyed but you can order them without spice. The restaurant itself is small but does have a place to sit and eat a quick meal. The restaurant was very clean which I really appreciated. The staff are really friendly and nice as well. I recommend getting there early as they get packed around lunch time and they sell out of doubles very quickly lol. Overall I highly recommend and can't wait to go back

Yelp
West Indian Flavor II Purchase -$39.81 The worst roti I ever had. I ordered 6 shells (Del-puree), ordered 2 hours in advance I to came at 12 o'clock I was on time. seen they have bust-up-shot on the menu so I ordered 2 (they were, fresh and Great). Only waited 40 minutes, for the order! They gave me 6 seemed to be reheat (after being frozen) crappyest (Del-puree), shells. So bad you couldn't find the peas in them. These people don't know a thing about costumer service. I been their 4 time and never before got such crappy food!

Donicia S.

Yelp
West Indian Flavour (Park Heights) is a nice little spot to get authentic West Indian food without the frills. The owners and chefs are Trini and you can taste the authenticity in each meal. We usually get roti (curry goat) and pholourie with tamarind sauce. The roti is good and made in house. Other restaurants I've been to purchase the roti (buss up shot and dhal puri) from others and warm it up. Not the same at all. The establishment is clean and the service is decent. This place gets busy but it's worth the wait and the drive for good authentic West Indian food.

Yelp
Best Trinidadian and Caribbean ever ... please taste their doubles ... Roti with tamarind sauce , especially in the doubles

Christopher B.

Yelp
I ordered doubles. This time there was something very hard, crunchy, sharp and non soluble in the doubles. Im not sure what it was, but its different and very offputting to consume. Everyone who got doubles in my order had the same experience. We didnt want to finish eating them as a result.
google avatar

Keisha R.

Yelp
Best roti in the Baltimore region. Trinidadian roots here. Portions are huge. Now - there may be a wait. They may be out but I promise you, it will be the best you've ever had.

Yelp
My not-so-quick 30+ trip was fueled by my want of doubles and to much disappointment, the cashier told me they sold out around 1pm . This was a trip of firsts to this location although we're familiar with the quality at the McElderry shop. I settled for a jerk chicken roti after I felt tempted by the slightly hilarious yet very serious paper sign that read "WARNING!!!!! Jerk is very spicy. No refunds..." my husband decided on the veggie roti (spinach, Channa) with a side of curry potatoes. I threw in a chicken pattie just cause. All in all, the food was good for it to be a 6pm order. I added Matouks pepper sauce for a little razzle dazzle as the jerk wasn't that spicy to me. I wasn't able to snag pics of the veggie roti as we were starving by the time we got back. He did mention that the veggie roti had plentiful spice which caught him off guard. 4 stars only bc I didn't get my doubles, but will try again another day. There were 2 visible staff. One lady began taking our order but that ended abruptly when she immediately jolted to the back which was odd lol. We waited an additional 5 min to have our order taken after that since the cashier was tending to another customer. Total time spent ~10 min.
google avatar

Dee D.

Yelp
Not bad, but not great. Order was wrong. I asked for a deconstructed curry chicken roti. Nope. Got a regular roti. I didn't want sloppy dough. But I got it. Ordered a Large order of jerk chicken was mainly bones. Rice wasnt too great. chicken wasnt flavorful and no spice. It's funny how the other restaurant in east baltimore is completely opposite of the one in West Baltimore. Not going back. Will go to the one in east baltimore first if I want trini or stick with my old favorite royal maroon for jamaican jerk if in the area.

Laura G.

Yelp
This Trini Restaurant was as like eating in my auntie' cooking. The macaroni pie, stewed chicken etc. hands down good. The people were warm and hospitable in their service towards me and mine. The environment was clean and accommodating. I will definitely visit West Indian Flavour again.

Yelp
The #1 thing that I will say is that the food is amazing. Unfortunately just having great and tasty food don't cut it all the time. I read other comments and I saw that they have Vegan options but can someone answer if they have Gluten Free options? What is in the seasonings? Soy? Wheat? Barley? Of course the menu doesn't state any of this stuff but I am not surprised. Unfortunately just having great and tasty food don't cut it all the time. to get sh!tty service. They sell out a lot of their food within the first hour of opening and lunch time. You will have your heart, mind and soul on a particular item and it wont even be available. Because of my Gluten Free diet I doubt I will ever go back. I think honestly the owners and everyone that work here would be to arrogant to even care about these little ol' yelp reviews or even responding to my questions.

Yelp
When I arrived I was trying to figure out which to get between buss up shut or roti. I had no idea what the difference was so Kerri (The lady Kerri who works there) gave me my brief lesson between Dhalpourie aka Roti and Paratha aka Buss Up Shut. She told me that her favorite is pumpkin buss up shut, I told her I need meat so I went with the goat which was pretty good. She then told me she put some pumpkin on the side for me free of charge because she wanted me to taste it. I was happy she did so because the pumpkin was tasty and that is not something I would have ever decided to try on my own. She also gave me a sample of some mango chow which is like a mango fruit salad with a spicy kick. She told me to come back and get some Trini callaloo cuz if I've been eating Jamaican callaloo, I've been eating wrong...bloop. Last week a friend of mine had a birthday party at a distillery and he had us put in orders with West Indian Flavor for roti or buss up shut so I decided to try the chicken roti and I have to say although good, I prefer the buss up shut. Oh yeah and I got a beef patty which was good as well.

Yelp
They serve you white rice instead of rice and peas and have the nerve to have an attitude with customers.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Everything on the menu is authentic and tastes great! I've travelled an hour to order the goat curry with pepper! It's phenomenal!
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
The food at this restaurant is very tasty. They do have vegan options. While the service is slow and sometimes you get the typical attitude, the food is tasty. The issue that I have is that they are practicing coronavirus safety protocols. When I was there on May 31, 2020, two of the workers weren't wearing masks. And they served two patrons who were not masked as well. They didn't even ask the workers to wear masks not did they ask their customers to put on masks. While the food is good, it's not worth risking getting the coronavirus. I will not be back because of safety concerns. If the workers don't practice mandated safety protocols, why would customers feel that they had to do so.

Lela B.

Yelp
The food was so delicious! I'm giving 4 stars only because they forgot one dish. I recently moved to the area and was craving Trinidadian food. The only thing is they missed packing one dish I ordered but I didn't realize until I got home after a 45 min drive. I'll be back but will make sure to check my order before I leave. I ordered Doubles, Chicken Buss up shot, phlourie,, curry chicken rice and peas and Curry goat (missing). We enjoyed every bit!

Yvette Y.

Yelp
The portions are no longer worth the price. Don't charge me $20 for 3 cut potatoes and 3 pieces of chicken that are 90% bone. I used to eat here once a week but they don't seem to appreciate it.

Charrica G.

Yelp
I have been looking for a good Caribbean restaurant that serves roti and this place is it. The taste brings me back to the first time I tried Roti. The owners are Trini and you can taste the authenticity. I have been back several times.
google avatar

Juliette B.

Yelp
I wish I could give them less stars. Whenever you order delivery from them they claim they cannot make certain items but not until the driver arrives. This has happen to me twice so shame on me for giving them grace they do not deserve. If you want to bother giving them a try go in person so that they can tell you what they will and will not do to your face. Honestly, I recommend you not waste your time at all with this place.

Ericka T.

Yelp
The oxtail was so tender and flavorful! I absolutely loved it and the portion was generous! I couldn't even finish it.

Tee R.

Yelp
This place portions are getting smaller and smaller. They need a new recipe for the oxtails...Other food is good and Roti one of the best but the portion size and price do not match

Ess C.

Yelp
After the experience, not sure I'll be back. They packed my food, and forgot a good bit of my order. Went to pick up the doubles they didn't pack and the extra other side I paid for and got attitude about it from Rosemary. Takes once for me to be dissatisfied -done!
google avatar

Yelp
This is my favorite Trinidadian spot ever!! I ordered the vegetarian roti with a side of plantains. The vegetables inside of the roti consisted of yummy curried potatoes, chick peas, and calloloo. The only thing I would change is the salt content, it was a little too salty. The plantains were ripe and delicious. The delivery from Grub Hub was super fast also. Sorry I didn't post a pic, I was so hungry. Please, please check this place out!
google avatar

Sherice L.

Yelp
Definitely a disappointment this time around. No disrespect to them because I've had good food at this location before. But this very last time literally left me with bubble guts. I ordered a chicken roti a couple of months ago when I was in the area and it was so good!! Down to the pepper sauce. But as of 12/12 everything changed and I don't get why.... the curry was very much watered down as if they didn't really "chunkay" the curry and let it cook properly. The dhal puri was like.... nearly as thick as Indian naan. Honestly don't remember if there were peas in it. Ever had salty, watery curry before? The pepper sauce even changed. Slightly on the vinegary side and a regular Trini pepper is HOT and flavorful. What happened, not sure. The park heights location was also very good the last time I tried it and this one was too. Maybe it was just an off time for them. But.....this was not good.

Charmine T.

Yelp
I went to purchase food on a Sunday, got there 10 mins before opening, this day was cold, stood at the door till 12pm opening even though there was workers they did not opened until about 12.10pm, then proceed to open the side door and not the main door, where we were all standing. So the person on the side door who got there after we did got to order their food. I mentioned it to the employee, so instead of apologizing we proceed to talk about us with the owner, and made sure we heard them , This was not the first time I had bad customer service at the establishment, and I decided that I am not going to patronize a business that does not respect its customers, so I left that day without buying anything, and as much as I love my Trinidadian food, I would prefer to drive an extra 10 miles or do without than to ever buy there again
google avatar

Farheen Q.

Yelp
Stopped in for a take-out lunch. I'm a West Indian food novice, so I just walked in and ordered the special, which was rice, daal, and chicken curry. Delicious! Flavorful but not too spicy, and good serving size for lunch (I got the small and was stuffed, definitely could not have handled the large without sharing with someone). Meat was moist, and price was great - $10. I can't speak to its authenticity because again, this was the first time I've ever had West Indian food, but it sure was good! Also the lady serving me was super sweet and accommodating when I basically told her I have no idea what I'm ordering. I recommend.

Yelp
Horrible Horrible Horrible i have no idea y their food is so nasty but i guess some restaurants r

Kyia M.

Yelp
I come here all the time and this was by far the WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD I called and placed an order over the phone and I get to the restaurant and they sold my order. What type of establishment does that unprofessional stuff then as I explained to them that we were coming from far management laughed and continued to fuss at me as if I did something wrong. This place will never get my money. If you want good food with good customer service don't come here. They are very rude and don't handle food properly. I'm not sure why this business is still open. Oh and none of them were wearing mask behind the counter go check out my google review for pictures
google avatar

Janine B.

Yelp
This is the only Trinidadian restaurant I found in Baltimore and I was sooooo pleased when the food was on point. Doubles, buss up shot, roti and even the stew king fish finger licking.
google avatar

Sharlene S.

Yelp
I'm new to the area and tried this place after disliking another local chain. I was pleasantly surprised. The curry chicken and oxtails are really good roti and the buss up shut are good as well. The service is a hit or miss but restaurant work ain't easy. It is certainly my local Caribbean go to.
google avatar

S. A.

Yelp
If this was the first time I had an awful experience here I wouldn't be writing this. Let me also say completely honestly that these guys have awesome food. But if you've seen Seinfeld, they're a bit like the Soup Nazi. Because their food is good, they think you should be powerless and expendable as a customer. I'm neither. So the least I can do is warn others. Cons: -run out of EVERYTHING you want EVERY Sat night like clockwork; tonight it was no potato or Channa at 740p (they close at 8p, which is too early anyway but hey); they also had no beef, no doubles, no pholorie or aloo pies; again, they run out of these EXACT same items EVERY week; wouldn't you just make more? -so about two months ago, my wife and I go for dinner like we did at least twice per month: on this occasion her roti was so filled with gravy that her roti skin damn near disintegrated; this was the first time this happened in about 6 years of frequenting the joint; we bring this to the attention of the owner (who has one of the worst attitudes of a person who wants u to spend your hard earned money) at which point she offers to sell us a new roti skin for $3, instead of giving us one and recognizing we've been frequenting this spot for years I could go on so I'll just say that if you want this awesome authentic Trini cuisine, arrive early and with steel nerves. However, if your self respect and customer service are kinda important--pass.

Maria C.

Yelp
I called yesterday to put in an order for 1pm today because one time before this, we ordered and my son wait for2 hrs to get the food, so they said call the day before and it will be no wait. I even paid for my order yesterday, I got there at 1pm as planned and of course the food was not ready and we had to wait for 30 minutes, came home which was one hour drive from my house- only to realize when we got home the Roti was rush full off oil and tasted bitter and hard , I call them and off course I spoke to Joanne who said that Ms Rose is the Bose and she is not there, am still waiting on a call back. Who so ever try to make Roti today don't know how to cook . Very disappointed!!!! With this place.

Latasha M.

Yelp
I have been eating here for about 6 months and it is BY FAR the best West Indian carryout in Baltimore! I always get the curry chicken roti and it NEVER disappoints. I eat her at least once a week and the portions they give are big for the money you pay. I can never eat my food in just one sitting. Though the food is excellent what keeps me coming back is the wonderful service I receive. The ladies are very pleasant and genuinely nice. I always get a smile and "how may I help you?". If you are in the Baltimore area and want some authentic west indian food with wonderful flavors check out west indian flavor!

Nina J.

Yelp
The food is great, but they keep increasing the prices! A goat roti now costs over $14.00! Nothing but greed! I once was able to have some leftover, but now I eat in one sitting. Not much goat or filling! Now that Mr Allen has retired, I will not be going back! Plus, some of the women have attitudes when you ask a simple question. I guess I'll be going to back to New Hampshire Boulevard!

John S.

Yelp
I love this place, every time I go here I'm never disappointment. The only place I go to for West Indian Trinidad food. Customer service was nice and the prices are cheaper then down the street.

Kim H.

Yelp
A year ago They refused to make a roti that they said took 10 minutes...mind you, no customers were in sight and it was a rainy day. We were passing by and dropped by to order n take out but was told we had to order in advance. So only old customers knowing this rule can order from this place!? The bad part was that they (owners)were rude to us. I guess just ordering roti was too little patronage they were not interested in getting. I guess something went to their head!

Yelp
West Indian Flavour is the best Caribbean restaurant for many of us in the Baltimore area. They feature a wide variety of exotic Caribbean dishes that will take you back to the islands and have you always coming back for more. The staff is super friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. My personal favorites are their doubles, oxtail platter or goat roti. If its your first time, I strongly recommend that you order their doubles. It is a flat and fried sandwich filled with chick peas, mango chutney, tamarind sauce and slight pepper, its the best fast food sandwich on the go. They also do catering for parties, wedding and corporate events. And also, they have their own parking lot so there's never any hassles finding parking along Park Heights avenue. West Indian Flavour is home away from home that is full of character, great food and quality service. You won't be disappointed, they're half Caribbean, half amazing.

Yelp
I will continue to drive an hour one way to get this authentic Indian flavor! Best doubles that I have ever had and go early because they run out because they are so awesome! There is a bit of a wait but it is totally worth it.

Yelp
You can't go wrong here! Local, Legit, and delicious Caribbean food. Roti, doubles, sum pholourie....all of it is ecstasy. I would just use it for Carryout, it may not be the best to dine in at.

Yelp
The food is delicious. The restaurant itself is a hole in the wall but the food can't be beat. I wish it was closer to DC where I live but if I ever at pimlico again I will eat and park here. I had a jerk chicken Roti and dhal. The hot sauce is delicious but beware it's spicy.
