A great store that has what you need when you need it, for all of your boating and sailing adventures. It's expensive, but so is everything involving boats. Can't beat it for quality parts and gear.

Not very helpful. I needed some hardware. Two employees at the check out register, both were engaged in some kind of conversation, one escorted me to the hardware bins he told me to fill out an inventory bag and then bring it up to the counter after I found what I needed. There must have been over 50 bins to look for what I needed. He wasn’t helpful. He turned and walked back to the check out register only to start talking with the other employee again. There were no other customers in the store at the time he could’ve assisted me.

Is way too expensive practically fraudulently expensive. Low Is quality marine parts at more than premium price. I would avoid this place at all cost unless absolutely necessary.

I went in the store…. Knowing absolutely nothing about fishing. I was buying gifts for my friend down in Nicaragua. The most common fish down there are Red Snapper, Grouper and Dorado! Tiffany was working when I walked in. She was so pleasant and nice. Greeted me right away and was able to answer all my questions and gave me great recommendations! Best customer service from her and now I will be coming back just for her when I need more fishing gear for my friends in a Nicaragua!

If I needed something for my boat, they probably know what they are talking about. If you want advice on fishing lures and the like, you'd be better off many other places. The guys who even worked there told me they knew nothing about fishing.

Customer service is the name of the game there at Westmarine and Oceanside the mini you walk in they are very attentive. Welcome you and ask if there anything specific they can help you with they take the time to help. You understand what you're looking for and why and offer many suggestions this is nothing but good old-school customer service which is something that is lacking today, Ron & drew are always on top of things and always follow through when I place an order and they're not able to fulfill it and give me other options, the complete staff for that matter are very accommodating. Keep it up guys.

Walked in to grab some wiring/ bus bars/ switches ETC, I was amazed at how over priced everything was, I get being $5-10 over in store, but this stuff was literally doubled, mostly tripled compared to online. I'd only recommend going in here if you need something off the shelf the same day.

I've had nothing but great experience so far with this company. They have some items that are a bit over priced but the customer service has always been spot on. I have purchased from in store and ordered online to ship to the store and every time has been a good experience. The employees are personable and nice to me. I know there are some other reviews that show bad service but I have not experienced that so far.

I went into this location with my two small boys age 3 and 5 to return some items for my husband. We all wore masks in compliance with CDC guidelines. There were several customers in the store ahead of my children and I. My 3 year old and 5 year old grew tired of being in line and began to play hide and seek close by and in my vision. The front desk associate named Monica asked me if my kids could stop going down the aisles. No problem, I understand. Finally it is our turn and we are helped by the other cashier, a very friendly guy, didn't catch his name. As the cashier processes the refund, Monica chimes in that she's sorry but she doesn't know where my kids have been and she doesn't want them running around because she doesn't want them to spread the virus. Say what? I look past her comment which directly implied that my kids may have Covid-19 and they have now spread it all over West Marine. But Monica continues after I muttered a comment about cases dropping and said, "hey they are kids, what would you want me to do?" Monica replies, "you should leave them in the car." I laughed in disbelief and told her I was pretty sure leaving young kids in a car for any extended period of time was breaking a law. Oh but this woman didn't stop there. She replies that maybe I should leave them at home This woman named Monica obviously lacked proper customer service skills because she was angry. In addition to her anger her implication and suggestions were way off base and uneducated. Monica I'm sure you are kind and perhaps you were having a day but you laid down a slew of comments that were wrong on so many levels. Because my husband is a loyal member, I feel that this reflects poorly on this establishment and the quality it puts forth for its clientele. I think it would be wise to retrain Monica on ethical conversations in store. On a positive note, I think this location is clean and the associate that did help me out was very professional.

I came in to return something and this lady slightly older with glasses acted as if I had completely inconvenienced her and had a terrible attitude...I've been going there for years and will probably not anymore she left a bad taste in my mouth. We all are stressed at the moment but you don't need to bring it to work!!!

This location probably have some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered. For one, they never have anything in stock, they are selfish, and only think about there locations sales. It's 2020 and they don't even have the technology apparently to look up a past purchase for a refund. All this location cares about is making an extra buck. No receipt no refund. I even showed the employee my purchase with the address on my bank statement. It's unreal how bad the service is. I would advise to always skip this location. Worst ever.

What a great secret West Marine! I took my new boat down to San Diego and stopped in Oceanside for the night and took a uber to West Marine to get some boat "stuff". The manager Stephanie was so helpful. When I walked in her hands were full and she had other clients but made sure I was going to be welcomed. The gentleman Doug came right away and helped me. Stephanie when she was finished with the other customers came and assisted me as well. Great store and great service!

Purchased a west marine sea volt jump start battery as a backup for my boat. After having it a couple of years , in the boat , charging it as I went out on trips. It failed to jumpstart my battery when I needed it. It was unable to crank the motor. Called west marine, they said sorry, one year warranty. Great, money spent for junk, no option to replace. I'll buy my extra battery at costco. Not here

4 years later and same review. I only try shopping here when I'm feeling lucky or have so much cash in my pocket weighing down my pants that it would be beneficial in some way to have less. Always the same "We can get that for you" response to fairly ordinary requests. The last was a 1/2" through hull. No dice. "We can order it." I considered getting a 3/4" and enlarging the hole but they only had plastic garbage. I've got news for you... any other store can order what I need as well, probably at a better price. 100' spool of white Ancor 14ga wire is $41 at west marine IF they had it. (They only have tiny micro spools) Same thing on Amazon is $20.93 delivered next day. I'm all for making a profit but holy hell... This store is very frustrating and is best used as a last resort if having an extremely lucky day and have been nice to your wife and many stray animals. Highly recommend if you need a key float or a yeti cup at full msrp but stay away if you're trying to repair your boat.

Although small, John and Mark are very helpful and knowledgeable. They aren't like newbies that don't know squat about boating, but both are avid sailors/fishers themselves. Selection is limited due to very small store, but they rake the time to look in catalogs for you so you don't have to drive to SD. I requested something and got in in 1 day. Good stuff.

My hubby restores boats & his family had a boat dealership years ago, so he KNOWS boats. This store never stocks even the most common items like marine plumbing parts, epoxies, sealants, engine parts, even compasses! Electronic accessories are a joke as they hardly have any in stock. The customer service is lacking as well! We could have cleaned them out of stuff & the big guy in the back office wouldn't have noticed! We stood there timing the bell at the register for 5+ mins & he finally came out, heard the phone ring, & turned back to get it, saying he had to help whoever was calling. REALLY?!?!?! We have frozen bait melting...WTF?!?! They carry crap for tourist boaters, like ski ropes & child blow up toys, but for those of us that I seriously and fish year round, they don't have anything in stock to fix our boats. They say there is not enough business here in Oceanside for them to be bigger. Are you kidding me? They have all of North Carolina and part of orange county and they are right off the freeway access, and they don't think they would have enough business??!?! The reason THEY don't is because they have crap for stock, their customer service is horrible, and they don't know anything when you ask basic marine questions! They can barely find anything on the shelves. Such a poor excuse for a marine store!

Mixed feelings about this place. Had a bad experience with one employee (not a multitasker) and a good experience with another. I'm not mean enough to only give 3 stars. Didn't have what we were looking for (website lied apparently) but they did give us suggestions on where to find it elsewhere.

Really like coming to this store. Everyone is so helpful. They might not have what you need but will check the other stores and find it for you. They will check and see if it can be ordered on line. I like it than having to run into SD....but if they have it there it is there I will go

Not impressed with the customer service. I went in to buy some rope that needed to be cut by the staff. The employee was busy stocking the shelves acted like it was an inconvenience to help me. Then once I was at register I stood there for a few minutes while the cashier talked with a customer about taking his boat to Catalina. Finally a different emp came up to help me.

Super helpful staff. Had to reorder some sailing gloves a couple times to get the right size since they didn't have in stock to try on. No hassle-they were happy to help and answered my questions.
