10 Airbnbs Near Great Hiking Trails - AFAR

"Housed in the 1901 Annandale Lighthouse, this 70-foot-tall tower—recently moved 100 feet inland to escape erosion and refreshed with new interiors—has a cabin-like feel with exposed beams often signed by visitors and interior views that look up into the open bones of the tower. Nearby is a portion of the Island Walk, and the surrounding Confederation Trail offers flat terrain; hiking roughly 7.5 miles along that section brings you to the town of Montague and its pair of craft breweries." - Nicholas DeRenzo

Oct 1/25 we stayed for one night. It was a unique experience. The sound of the ocean outside our room was calming and tranquil, that I will not soon forget. Of interest, the Inn and the local seaside restaurant, Lighthouse Willy's Restaurant, a mile away are owned, maintained and operated by local community people. The light house museum is well worth the effort, as are the almost 100 steps to get to the top. Few places on this earth can provide this quality of beauty and solitude.....make it part of your travel experience while visiting PEI.

I cannot rave about this stay more! This was our first time in PEI and we started our trip off at this location! What a great start to the trip! The motel felt like I was in a movie. Going to sleep listening to the waves and waking up to being steps from the ocean from our room… what more could you ask for! The room was clean and charming, pretty standard hotel room. We didn’t know it included breakfast in the stay so that was a nice little perk! The breakfast was good, and there was different options. Having access to the lighthouse museum anytime was also great! It is a stunning one! The staff were so friendly and made the check in easy even when we arrived late at night! If you want to have a great and unique stay, this is the place!

Wow! We absolutely loved our stay here. It was the highlight of our entire trip. We stayed in a second floor room and managed to arrive just in time to watch the sunset from the balcony. Truly a magical experience. We visited the museum in the evening. It’s extremely well laid out and so much information is provided. We got up early the next morning and climbed to the top of the lighthouse and got to watch the sunset rise over the island. Then to top it all off, we were treated to a lovely home cooked breakfast included with our stay. Our whole experience was an amazing experience and will remain a core memory for us for years to come. Thank you so much for taking such great care of us during our visit.

Our first visit to PEI for my husband and I. We jumped at the chance to stay at a lighthouse in a remote part of the island. Stayed for one night. The lighthouse itself and the museum are impressive. The property faces west which provides for an unbelievable sunset right from our balcony. The room itself was average size and very clean. Appreciated having hardwood floors and not carpet. Furniture in great shape, good lighting, small refrig in room. Ample seating inside the room as well as the balcony for two. Homemade breakfast, fresh eggs, toast, biscuits, delectable coffee, just like at home. Had good dinner at Lighthouse Willy’s, back to our room within an hour just in time for an unbelievable sunset. Walked the beach 2m one way, water was warm for mid-September. Saw a seal from the beach. Heard the waves and gazed at the stars. Highly recommend. Don’t know of many places you can experience this tranquility.

My family stayed for three nights: Rooms were amazing, beds comfortable, breakfast did not disappoint, beach access is great, staff is friendly but not intrusive, just a beautiful spot. Would absolutely recommend and will return. The museum is interesting, and feels authentic. St Marks Ceilidh on Thursday nights is nearby and offers an amazing musical experience if your schedule allows for it.

A great experience. We were in the Keepers Quarters. It is a real museum. A few times I opened the door and people asked if I was the manager. Unique location. Spent 2 nights here. Staff were very friendly. Down to earth. I think the Lighthouse and the restaurant in town, are owned and moderated by the community which I think is terrific. There are 2 rooms in the lighthouse and quite a few more in and adjacent motel. The lighthouse is very photogenic as a lot of souvenirs across P.E.I. can attest to.

Very pleasant hotel. Stayed in the rooms not the lighthouse. Wish you had planned for a couple of days there to enjoy the beach, etc… Only bad thing, stop recommending Willy’s restaurant, at the end of the property, terrible meal of un-drained greasy tough frozen fish & chip. A low even for P.E.I. food. With all the agriculture, gardens and fishing on the island we expect better restaurants.

Came from Alberta, this has been a highlight of the trip. Amazing views, lovely beach, great room , home cooked breakfast, can’t get any better. Come stay with these friendly folks at the charming lighthouse.

Yelp
A beautiful place to stay right on the beach. We chose to stay in the lighthouse. It is a quaint room with such high ceilings and an attached bath. We went straight to the beach after checking in. There are lifeguards on duty at the Provincial Park beach. It was a beautiful evening. We must have been there over an hour. On Monday nights the restaurant on the wharf is closed. There was an option for ham and scalloped potatoes in the common room. We went to the O'Leary Co-op for supper and snacks. It was fun choosing as the tower room does not have a fridge. The quick supper meant we had time for a long walk on the beach. We got back in time to climb the tower to the top of the lighthouse. It was beautiful! Tim got a couple of sunset shots. We slept well. The bed was comfortable , but the wind and rain was loud. I could hear the surf with all the windows closed. It felt cosy. There was a TV on the wall above the wardrobe but we did not watch it. There is so much natural beauty surrounding this Inn. The breakfast was good the next morning. There were fried potatoes, boiled eggs, French toast, cereal options, bread and bagels, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea, and juices. Check out was a breeze!
