"Westbrook Brewing Company has partnered with Ceebo Brew Co. to produce a pilsner-style nonalcoholic beer. This partnership marks a significant step for both the boutique brand and Charleston's nonalcoholic drink industry. Westbrook Brewing Company is equipped with specialized facilities, including a pasteurization chamber, to produce Ceebo beers using a unique brewing method that ensures the ABV content never exceeds 0.5% alcohol. This sets Ceebo apart from other nonalcoholic beers that typically undergo a dealcoholizing process." - Hannah Lee Leidy

"With a biergarten and full bar option, customers come for both the beer and the atmosphere. Food trucks have become more of a staple, not an oddity, making a more desirable taproom for the well loved beers like White Thai, One Claw, and the sought after limited release Mexican Cake." - Barbara Skidmore

Google
Beer was great... had a dark ale which isn't usually my thing, but on this occasion, glad I did. The guy behind the bar was nice. Just a pointer for the owners ... the outside could use some TLC to bring it up to the standard set by the inside. The place overall is great... have done a great job on the inside and it is top notch!

Google
I loved the beer here and can't wait for Key Lime Pi to come back out in March. The white Thai was really good, and I liked the beer to drink when it's hot outside. The actual taproom wasn't that big.

Matt Bailey

Google
Great beer, the tap room is kind of small but we really enjoyed our flight of beers. Staff was super cool, would recommend this place for a beer and a relaxed setting!

Google
Absolutely loved this place! We came from Florence SC just to try it in person and were not disappointed. Got a flight and the maple bourbon beer, which pro tip from Katie at Westbrook, getting the full bourbon beer is $7, flight $15, but if you get a flight with an aged beer is $22, so you might as well get a flight and a full pour aged beer! My favorites were the banana shake IPA and the 4claw IPA. Spicy nachos also incredible, surprisingly a bit sour. Only downside was a closing time of 8pm on a Friday and closing at 6pm on Saturday

Google
This is a little place which offers outdoor tables. The bartenders were not very attentive and the pregnant bartender was drinking beer behind the bar, which seems to be a normal at breweries. But shes pregnant and that made me want to drink fast and leave. I was not happy that the accessible parking was blocked off for tables. The key Lime gose was refreshing as was the 3 claw.

Google
Excellent beers on draft and to go, friendly & knowledgeable bartenders, and good atmosphere. Brandon and Katie were helpful and personable. Wish I could've had a tour, but they didn't have enough staff. Check out the cellar list for some blasts from the past.

Google
This place was, meh. I have been to many breweries and would probably never return here. The taproom was big, but did not have a lot of seating. The beer was pretty forgettable too. We were happy that they had patio seating, but it was also pretty limited. They had a line for orders, so that sped up the process a bit.

Google
Great beers. They’re edging pastry but it’s still solid beer. Quite the compound you’ll with their heavy distribution. My wife said their women’s restroom could use a touch up.

Rich K.

Yelp
The venue is lovely, somewhat remote. The beer was outstanding especially the Coconaughty aged in Blanton bourbon barrels. I'd go back just for that.

Johanna F.

Yelp
Great selection of beers. Great space. Food trucks and big outdoor space. What's not to love.

Melissa F.

Yelp
Mac approved brewery! we loved the outdoor area where we could bring our door and chill. We've always loved Westbrook beers (distributed locally) so no surprise we loved all the extra options on tap. I was a big fan of the blueberry pie sour. Only nit was food / snack options. The food truck cancelled on them the day we were there

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
They have tons of different options to choose from. The staff is helpful and friendly & will make recommendations based on what you like. Also the brewery itself is clean and nice vibes. White Thai is my go to. Absolutely one of my favorite breweries I've discovered in SC!

Clive V.

Yelp
I stopped by here after dinner on Valentine's Day about 30 mins before closing. The ladies behind the bar were so friendly and welcoming. Since I like to try different beers, I decided on the flight, which was only $10 for 4 7 oz pours. To me, that was a winning deal! I decided on all 4 of the higher ABV stouts and loved them all! The beers were great, the ambiance was great and the staff was so friendly, even considering the time! Overall great experience! I grabbed some of the S'mores to-go and a couple of Crowlers @ $3 (Valentine's Special) for the babysitter and left a Happy Camper! Such a great end to the night!

Yelp
Amazing beer. Peniminal tasting room at brewery. Friendly staff. What's not to like? This place is KING OF GOSE style beer. That is a sour beer with hint of saltiness. You either love gose or hate it. They offer many varieties of gose and I love them all. Mexican Cake is best chocolate stout with hot chillies that I have ever had. Extremely well balanced. They have multiple varieties. Original is superb. Antigua is a blend of their 2014-2020 Mexican cakes blanded together and is the best version in my opinion. The Tennessee Whiskey version is a bit too hot in alcohol. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and stop for a drink.

Janet C.

Yelp
Westbrook Brewing has some amazing beers! We have been fans on the beers that are available in NC, nice to try a larger variety of their beers in their tap room. The service was super friendly.

Wray B.

Yelp
The beers at Westbrook fall into two categories: liquid malt, and liquid candy. A flight isn't cheap but the most economical way to go here. Service is just a 1-person counter. A bit echoey of a spot to hang out. Outdoor seating but not shaded, it's no beer garden.

Nicole S.

Yelp
I have always been a big fan of Westbrook, so I knew I needed to check out their taproom when I was in the area. When you pull up, it looks like the building/taproom is pretty large, and it is, however the area where you get your drinks and sit, is pretty small. However, there is alot of parking in the area. I did a flight and tried some of their delicious drinks. My favorite was the Rice Crispy one that literally gave you an aftertaste of rice crisps, and their pineapple triple IPA. They had various sours, IPA's, and really any time of beer you were looking for on tap, and had a great selection of drinks to go.

Yelp
More craft beer adventuring! Always love doing it especially during warmer weather like so many other people like to do. Which makes tourist season such a bustling thing because the warm weather drives people to explore ! Speaking of warmer weather the beer we had from Westbrook was highly appropriate for the season. The Beer To Drink When It's Hot Outside an appropriately named lager provided the refreshing sensation we needed for such a warm day. The crispness and hint of lime was a very nice touch for summertime beer drinking!

Yelp
Westbrook Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina in December 2010. It was founded by husband and wife Edward and Morgan Westbrook. When the couple were dating in college, Morgan challenged Edward to begin home-brewing. The couple soon realized that they could make a lot of money if they sold their own beer... money that could pay for college tuition or bills. They decided to open their own brewery and picked Mount Pleasant as the location in order to be close to their families. At the time, the Greater Charleston area had very few breweries. Five months after opening the brewery, the Westbrooks got married and Edward brewed a special beer for the reception. That beer was "Mexican Cake": an Imperial Stout brewed with habaneros, cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa nibs. Today, Westbrook Brewing is one of the most renowned breweries in the Greater Charleston craft beer scene and "Mexican Cake" is their most sought after beer (now available every May as the brewery's anniversary beer). I recently visited Westbrook Brewing while I was on an East Coast Road Trip. My family and I were visiting our cousins who live in Summerville (right outside of Charleston). I was very excited because I've wanted to visit the area's brewery scene for years. I was familiar with Westbrook Brewing for their various collaborations with one of my favorite breweries: Evil Twin Brewing. I stopped by on a Thursday evening and was surprised to see that there was only a small handful of customers there. I pulled up a seat by the bar in their beautiful tasting room and ordered a flight of four different IPAs. My favorite was the "Fluffernutter Shake IPA" which tasted just like a fluffernutter sandwich! There were so many beers to taste, so I decided to order a second flight which consisted of "Triple Pineapple Shake IPA", "11th Anniversary Chocolate & Caramel Stout", and "Mexican Cake" (2022 & 2016 Vintages). Before leaving, I had to order a glass of "Tequila Barrel Aged Mexican Cake" (2016 Vintage). It was so strong but also so full of flavor. It was easily the best beer of the evening. I'm glad that I can finally cross Westbrook Brewing off my bucket list.

Yelp
Westbrook makes great beer, but their taproom had a lot to desire. There were loose cleaning supplies lying around, bathrooms that were filthy and the server when we went on a Sunday, who appeared to just want everyone in the taproom to leave. The taproom had a good 20 people in it, and the bartender called last call about 45 minutes before close. I saw a customer come in a few minutes after she called last call. He tried to order a beer and she refused him one. This is terrible for such an out-of-the-way taproom. I felt so bad for the guy, that I got up and figured I'd buy him a beer on my last-call order so that he wouldn't have a bad experience. When I try to order a last call round, the bartender informed me that she had closed the tabs for everyone in the taproom and wasn't letting anyone else order a beer. THAT IS NOT WHAT A LAST CALL IS. LAST CALL MEANS YOU CAN ORDER ANOTHER LAST ROUND. What if people wanted to buy merch? Buy a four-pack? They'd have to reopen a tab because of this terrible lady. I was so upset at her lack of customer service, that this poor guy couldn't purchase a beer, and all I wanted to do is never drink another Westbrook beer ever again for having such a bad taproom experience. Customer ALWAYS comes first and there is a severe lack of training in that taproom. What a shame.

Chip V.

Yelp
Excellent brewery with great beer and service. Visited from out of town and very impressed. Now I need to get my local stores to carry their beer.

Crystal N.

Yelp
We're big craft beer fans, so coming to Charleston, we knew that this would be on the list. Westbrook definitely produced some of the better beers compared to the other breweries in the area. The Maximum Florida grapefruit sour was absolutely delicious and refreshing on the warm June day. We tried out their renowned Mexican Cake stout that had big heat behind the dark stout. Also opted to upgrade our flight to include a barrel-aged beer and we were glad we did since the pecan cookie stout was very sweet, but good. It's not listed anywhere, but you can get a flight of four pours for $15 and if you want to include any of their barrel-aged beers, it's upcharged to $22. Kind of a steep price even if you are just trying to include one barrel-aged beer. The taproom space is a bit underwhelming. Not much space for large parties indoors, but lots of larger picnic tables outdoors. They only had their indoor bar open, but the bartender was super nice and was able to also get drinks for you from the outdoor bar, which had more frozen cocktails - that are insanely boozy, just by the way. With that, not much food aside from a few bags of chips to offer or any games you'd typically find in a taproom.

Yelp
I went to prolly 6-breweries in Charleston, North Charleston, Mt Pleasant and for pure beer quality this was the best one. And I've got the cred, certified micro-brewery expert. Check out my collections (use to be called "Lists" for us old school yelpers...): https://www.yelp.com/collection/_vgzMlZcCZjQUv2vUC8h9g This validates my expertise. And now, back to the yelp review. So 'rona, 'rona time, yeah I get it... Sit outside etc... I don't have a full flavor for the brewery experience etc.. And locale wise, this place is not ideal. And actually, I drove by it several times and didn't even know it was there.. But, the most important part... The beers were really good! I picked up a 4-pack of the rinse repeat and brought it back with me to Nola and its real good. I had a stout or porter when I was there, also very good. Thus, we get a nice review.

Taylor B.

Yelp
Big name brewery with constantly rotating taps! I do agree with other reviews that it would be nice to have some merchandise, and the service could be better. This brewery definitely has potential to be poppin. I've been here several times, and there's just something that's off or missing about the atmosphere/service. But! The beer is almost dependably great!

Katie B.

Yelp
This was my first time here and I've been wanting to come for years. I've had their beer before and really liked it. The outdoor space is really nice and they have some room inside as well. I didn't see many beers I would drink on their menu but I would def come back again.

William S.

Yelp
It's like being a kid and meeting Santa Claus, only to discover its some skinny dude in a beard. I enjoy their beers, but as a destination it's not the best space to enjoy the BEETUS. Small taproom for how much beer is produced and how far reaching their distribution is. I was expecting something larger, an experience. Sorta underwhelmed. Best part is the BEETUS bottle cellar for on-site consumption. The outdoor area is big and lit with cornhole. Dogs are allowed outdoors. Parking is tight.

Yelp
So we did a mini self-guided Chucktown brewery tour/crawl...13 breweries in 3 days. Charles Towne Fermentory on the west side of the city was my favorite if you were wondering at all, but that's likely because they're geared toward what I like (New England style unfiltered murky IPA's). Westbrook Brewing Co. was good, but fell just out of my top 5 as they didn't have any NE Style IPA's that day that loved me. Not a ton of parking here as lots of spots are taken up by employees. Large manufacturing/warehouse facility, with an appropriate sized tasting room. Good Wifi strempth and good a.c. too. Must haves down here in the tidal plain. Beers here ain't cheap, but they do have lots and lots to choose from. They brew a ton of beer here and lots and lots of variants of their well-known Mexican Cake. We tried several and really liked a collab stout beer they did with Evil Twin called OFMYD (they wouldn't tell us what this stands for) that rang the bell at 12.8 percent ABV and rocked my socks hard core. Really, really, really liked this stout. Most of their pints range from 5 to 8 dollars and you can easily expect at least a dozen home brews from which to choose. And yes, they do flights! Cheap flights. 4 tasters for $8.85 after the tax man. Score. Downer...blasting hip hop in the tap room. Not into that. I likes me the rock-n-rolla.

Annamaria B.

Yelp
When wanting to stop at a brewery after work, this is the one that's most convenient. After going to others nearby, it falls in comparison. The staff seems a little uppity. I've been to others where they are way more personable and quick to offer suggestions. Matt and I were looking for a Christmas beer for something to do before an event in the area and we heard they had two. They were already out. Okay it happens but offer something I may like to try instead. We decided to go to another one and so glad we did. The vibe here is more stuffy and I'm a fan of the relaxed and more welcoming feeling you get in some of the others around town.

Cindy B.

Yelp
As a fan of sour beer, Westbrook is Mecca! I posted more pictures than I usually do, just because for such a small indoor space, the varieties seemed endless. The large display hanging above the taps showcased the bottled selection - they also had these on the dry shelves and some in coolers, ready to go. The mixture of true gose (pronounced GO -Sah) and kettle sours certainly helps with the prolific selection. We originally had a bead on coming here during a long weekend visit to Charleston and found it easily through google maps, even though we meandered through skinny tree-lined streets for quite a ways. It was certainly worth the trip! We had to figure out the paved parking was for the offices, and parked in the correct gravel lot. If that lot is too small, then they must be busting at the seams inside, which was small by any standard. Thank goodness for the outdoor patio, with picnic tables and cornhole. We got a place at the bar where any bar keep could help us with our selections - and we both got flights of 4 in 5 oz glasses. They were also willing to serve small tastes from the draft taps. I don't think they had the bottles open for serving, but I believe you could buy it there and get it opened for a corking fee. There is a standing section for ordering from the bar, which I really appreciate as a bar patron. It's really uncomfortable sometimes when people lean all over you, beside and behind you to get a drink from the bar, when they don't have that area marked for standing orders. So "Thanks" for that! They clearly have loyal patronage as many came in for to-go selections and "one for the road". We didn't stay long, as I was a bit hungry and the only thing served were kettle chips and big pretzels. (Normally, I would knosh on a pretzel, but I'm currently on a keto phase) So we headed out to find a bit more than a snack. Yep, I was loaded down with a 6-pack of the White Thai and a small koozie swag. Thank you Westbrook for making sours "King!"

Rachyl D.

Yelp
Really loved the outside space here as well as the food trucks and how dog friendly it was! There are two parking lots but both were full when we arrived so had to wait until people left, not a huge deal just be prepared if you go on a weekend for a lot of people! The beers were okay but not my favorite, they do have cocktails for non beer drinkers as well!

Becky F.

Yelp
Visited this brewery on a Sunday (newly opened on Sundays 12-6pm) and they were a few minutes late to open. No big deal, super friendly staff and apologized for the late open. Inside is small with minimal but comfortable seating. Larger area outside in what looks like it used to be a parking lot. Nothing fancy, just picnic tables and a little shaded section. I have enjoyed Westbrook beer for many years but I have to say I was extremely underwhelmed by this brewery. Nothing made me want to stay longer than just one beer. I was disappointed to see they did not have a sour on tap. Only when a keg went out did they put a sour on (we were about to leave). The beers on tap seemed quite heavy for a hot Summer day. The brewery also had little to no merchandise. Not that this is a deal breaker but I just found it odd. I had looked forward to finally checking this brewery out and have to say, I have no plans of returning. I'll continue to enjoy their beers but will skip the trek out to the brewery in the future.

Lucas E.

Yelp
Very surprised to see Westbrook below 4 starts. Very much enjoyed my visit. Cozy, chill vibe inside. Somewhat limited space indoors, but large patio with a bunch of picnic tables. Beers are solid. I had a flight of 4, and enjoyed each. Lots of creative styles to choose from. Solid service, you can only order at the bar - so if they are busy you may wait in line for a few mins... but hey, no big deal. Its the south and things move a bit slower, but I think that is part of the appeal. I will definitely pop back in if I am in the area. Drink local!

Betsy M.

Yelp
The bartender was totally rude to me and my husband. We left early and will never go back. She was playing on her cell phone most of the night.

Simran A.

Yelp
Drove here from Savannah just because I have been wanting to try their Mexican chocolate stout for a while now. It's hard to find these in bottles. I love stouts and this one didn't disappoint. I had the Biscotti Chocolate one and it was great, highly recommend if if you love stouts! If you don't love stouts, they have other beers you can try- $8 for a flight of 5 beers. It's a great price! The food choices are limited- pretzel and cheese. I didn't get a chance to try it. I am not sure if they have tours but I would have definitely gone on one if they announced. It's a great place to chill with friends, Cheers!

Justin P.

Yelp
Haven't had the opportunity to come.here for quite a while. Since I live 45 minutes from the brewery I don't frequent it as often as I prefer to. Always a nice draft and bottle selection. Prices are on point for the quality of the product. Food trucks are available often and rotate to give different offerings. If you can't choose what you want to try, grab a flight and see what you like best

Christy M.

Yelp
I was excited to go after trying the Key Lime Gose at EVO and seeing all of the sours they have on tap. I understand things are going to be different with covid going around, but it definitely wasn't just a covid thing. We were the only ones at the whole place. Currently, you go in, order, and then there is outdoor seating. Currently you also cannot order samples or a flight (bummer, I would've liked to try every sour). Anyway, when I asked a couple questions about two of the different sours, I was met with a "you can download our menu and they have more of an explanation there." Seriously? There is not one other living single person here! That's a lame answer. It would be nice to have a conversation and see your thoughts on a beer at the place that you're working at... isn't that part of the job? Anyway... three stars for the beers... the beer is good. But... when I go to a brewery, I'm also going for the feel, for the conversation, to have a good time. There are other places I can go to get that I guess and I'll just buy my Westbrook sours at Total Wine and go home. Bummer. My hubs who is super super laid back only got one beer because he was so off-put by the bartender, he just wanted to leave. What a letdown as far as the environment.

Ashley G.

Yelp
This brewery has great curb appeal compared to a lot of the other breweries in the area and they were working on improving their outdoor space while we were there. I really liked the concept of the oval bar in the middle of the room with extra seating against the walls surrounding it. The bar staff was super friendly and attentive despite how busy they were. We split two flights and tried the following: Three Claw: Awesome! IPA: Pretty Good! Jaune: I know it said aged 2 years... but it tastes like straight liquor. Key Lime Gose: I think I might be drinking a derivative of Vinegar. Fruit/Wood/Time: Pretty dang sour but better than the Key Lime one. India Pale Lager: Not my favorite but drinkable. Vienna Lager: Pretty comparable to competitors. I like it! Evil Twin Erase and Rewind #18: A little bit lighter than the Three Claw but pretty tasty! I'm only giving them three stars because I wasn't totally sold on most of the beer I tried. I've also had their White Thai, One Claw, and Two Claw at local eating establishments and although I think those three are fairly good beers, I'm not totally in love with them either. It's location is kinda out of the way for me and with a lot of better options closer, I probably won't go to this place too often. Definitely worth checking out at least once though.

Julio H.

Yelp
Although a known brewery, Westbrook has been dated. The space itself is very bland, and there isn't a scene going. Maybe I didn't get the vibe, but the beer coupled with the crowd was like walking into a Walgreens. Not exciting. But, it is located far so if you are local to this area, this is your jam.

Daisy D.

Yelp
Love the beer, they are on point with the imperial double stouts. Wish I could get back home.

Alandria M.

Yelp
We visited Westbrook as a part of a self-made Charleston brewery tour. We love their beer but was unimpressed with the actual brewery. To be fair, it was cold (there are no heaters outside) and COVID precautions led to some limited seating (only outdoors). The folks working here were super pleasant. Hoping to visit again when it warms up and see if it changes the experience.

Michael M.

Yelp
I was a little surprised how small the interior bar area is as compared to size of the building and the brand name. A circular/oval bar with 2, 4 and 6 top pub tables around. We stopped by Friday night around 6pm, but just 1 bartender working. What I really didn't like is having to get in line to order, maybe they feel this works. We enjoyed a flight each, as I had the Dark Helmet, Blueberry Weiss, Evil Twin, and Saison. Liked most, favorite was the Dark Helmet. My husband had the White Chai, and that was definitely the best. Soon the bar area filled up with more people, and the outside entrance had some playing cornhole. Westbrook brewery is decent enough, but nothing made me want to come back. Maybe I've grown attached to a nearby competitor. But try it for yourself.

Catharine P.

Yelp
Clearly they're doing well, their building is so clean and well organized and large. I will admit that we were one of the people to arrive at 30 minutes before last call, but we got our pints quickly and were done when everyone else started leaving too. That being said, a smile from the bartender would have been nice. Their beers are always good, but I was bummed out about the flights. You could not get any of the starred beers in a flight which left you with the common beers you see around town everywhere. I already know what those taste like, I want to try the new ones without getting a whole pint first.

Craig S.

Yelp
With the heat of Charleston, this is good brewery to head to since it's taproom is indoors. This brewery became popular with their special brews and some of the contract brewing they do for Evil Twin. I'm not into sour beers, but Gose style is really big here too. They have about ten other beers to sample besides the sour ones though. I always recommend this brewery to those that I feel aren't too into a rustic brewery--as it's more upscale. The taproom is really clean and my parents thought the bathrooms were very nice. I guess that's their way of saying they aren't beer folk.

Tavares J.

Yelp
Nothing but great things to say about Westbrook. Great beer and amazing staff. Had a flight and amazing beers were $4 for 8 oz pours. Bottle selection to take home is crazy awesome. Love this place.

Jessica P.

Yelp
Amazing beer! Nice blend of sours and IPAs. Wine (red/white/rosé) is available for non beer drinkers. Bottles and cans are also available for purchase. They have food trucks and are dog friendly (on the patio). BEAUTIFUL facility!

Ashton M.

Yelp
I've had Westbrook cans from bars and grocery stores for years; the Gose is my favorite. I was looking for a dog-friendly brewery to visit for the day--specifically, a dog-friendly brewery that allowed dogs inside an air-conditioned interior space. Most local breweries that don't have kitchens allow dogs inside the facility. I called Westbrook in advance to make sure the inside bar area was dog-friendly and was told that it was indeed dog-friendly inside. When I showed up the next day with my well-trained, leashed, 65-pound Labrador and went inside, the bartender told me that "only small dogs and puppies" were allowed inside. Sure enough, there were four or five small dogs/puppies inside the brewery's air-conditioned space that fit this bill. I was told that since I had a larger dog, I would have to take my beer and sit outside. While the beer was good, it was incredibly frustrating to visit a brewery with ridiculous policies towards sizes of dogs. Either put all dogs outside, or let all dogs (who are well-behaved and on a leash) inside the facility. I won't be back to the brewery.

Tyler C.

Yelp
Finally made it out for the release of their "stepping in toes" beer. The building is pretty cool looking and seems rather large from the outside. The inside sitting area seemed a little small to me but it could be because it was a pretty big event. I didn't get the beer being released but I did get my favorite Mexican cake beer! Easily my favorite beer these days. I love Westbrook beer as I feel they make different beer than most breweries around here! I will be back to stock up on their coconut IPA and others!

Alisa S.

Yelp
We came on a weekend and the crowd wasn't too bad. The beer was amazing, I had the sour cherry which delicious. My husband got the sampler of four beers - he loved them all. We even took a couple beers home. Only downside was the service. Terribly slow!! I am definitely coming back!

Shelby B.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is excellent and a very cool spot to grab a beer on a hot summer day. I LOVE the white thai, but the rest of their beer is a bit too flavorful for my liking. It kinda tastes like your taste buds are being constantly attacked by a variety of flavors that you usually do not have the option of experiencing at the same time. I understand why others enjoy that, but I would prefer something a bit more soothing.

Meg T.

Yelp
Definitely need to update this review from 2 years ago - we've been a few times since my initial review, and I can honestly say I was overwhelmed with what to order last time - so many options. I've now found the beers I like, and Westbrook does it well: New England IPAs and Gose. So good. The taproom is kind of small, in terms of seating, but they also have outdoor space. This one is worth a stop for sure!

Kelly C.

Yelp
This brewery is hidden off the beaten path (although it's one of the only ones clearly visible from the highway), but it's worth the trek. The tasting room is current pretty small with plans to expand in the near future. I was there a week after the Mexican Cake release, so I was able to pick up a few bottles for myself and friends. I had a flight that I thoroughly enjoyed, although I wish the flight had come with 6 tastes instead of 4 (since there were 6 things I wanted to try). I like that you can bring home a crowler/growler of their tasting room-only beers, but I wish they had to-go cans of those beers, too. As much as I like their commercial rotation of goses, I would prefer to bring home the mojito or pina colada gose that you can't get anywhere else.

Yelp
Westbrook, along with Holy City, Freehouse, COAST, and the granddaddy of Charleston breweries, Palmetto, really paved the way for the craft beer renaissance in town. They were one of the first places in Charleston to get a solid foothold in the distribution market and their canned beers are some of the best and most consistent local stuff you can buy. I'm partial to the One Claw, Gose, and Citrus Redacted. Westbrook has also been game to frequently collaborate with other breweries, which makes for some fun and interesting one-off or seasonal brews. The Mexican Cake release has become a yearly event with bottles coveted by craft beer aficionados all over the US. I've tried the regular Mexican Cake and the Biscotti, brewed in conjunction with Evil Twin. They were both good but ultimately a little disappointing in light of the hype. It's the Pappy Van Winkle of beer--still really good, but driven more by scarcity and hype than anything and not worth the price tag in my opinion (there's even a few bottles of Mexican Cake aged in Pappy barrels floating around out there that are going for as much as you'd imagine). The brewery itself is not as conducive to on-site drinking (the location itself pre-dates the on-site serving shift in SC legislation that allowed for the boom we're all enjoying so it was not designed with that in mind) as most of the other places in town but it's still a cool place to hang out. Westbrook is one of the giants of the Charleston craft beer scene and is still one of those places you have to visit if you're a craft beer drinker!

Yelp
Came here as part of the 'Brews Cruise' the day after Thanksgiving - Kudos to Westbrook for being open that day. Its located in Mt. Pleasant, and from the outside is absolutely beautiful - not what you are expecting from a brewery. Inside, was just as nice, open spaced and squeaky clean. We were able to go in before it was opened to the public that day, and tasted each of the brews they had on tap. I fell in love with the White Thai (it is still one of my hands down favorites). They let us walk around the back and see the brewing process and also the barrel holding room, which was AWESOME. By the time we got back to the tasting area - which is also the lobby - it was jam slammed packed. We hung out and relaxed there for quite a while actually. Really really enjoyed the experience and the lessons on brewing and bottling. Great little place to taste some new brews and hang out.

Yelp
We were in the area for vacation and wanted to try a new brewery. Very cool looking place--unfortunately the service and the beer were both bad. Both bartenders were grumpy and unfriendly. Usually the people working at breweries are friendly and eager to talk about their beers. Not these two. The only time they seemed happy was when people asked to close their bills and left. The beer was not good. The Leopold was so bad that my boyfriend actually spat it out. The table next to us left behind a table full of beer. Oh well. Glad we stopped in but we won't be back.

Yelp
We typically make a trip to this brewery every year for the Mexican Cake release. It's a pretty neat venue in Mt. Pleasant and is worth a visit if you're in the area/near Charleston. It does tend to be difficult to find a place to park if they're doing a beer release. They have expanded some of the available parking when they finished their addition; however, due to the volume of people attending the event, parking is still rough. This isn't really a problem they can fix, though. They're just that popular! :) My favorites of their beers are the Goses; so, if you're into that style of beer, give theirs a try! Their Mexican Cake variants are pretty popular and tasty, as well.

Yelp
The beer here is on point. The location is at a modern and sterile facility tucked back in beautiful Mt. Pleasant. They have beer to go in bottles, cans and crowlers. The staff were nice with the exception of the red head female, she was just and acted snotty. Whatever, we just avoided her and chatted with the other employees. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!!

Yelp
Been drinking their beer for years, but my first trip tot he taproom was Saturday. Great space. Enjoyed a flight and two full pours. Westbrook is the gose king, but their stouts are equally as good. Famous for the Mexican Cake stout, they have differnt varioations at the tap room. Staff was nice. Can't wait to return. Wish get a keg of the Cinnamon Pecan Cookie Stout!

Yelp
Lower marks for the terrible customer service from bar staff. Beer choices are not bad but with all the other great breweries coming to town, I am not sure how they get away with such an elitist attitude. All in all worth a trip if you are ok with simply having a good, locally brewed beer and not looking for any service from bar staff. Get your beer from the bar and sit outside or even take the tour. The brewery itself is huge and very clean. I keep going back hoping for a better experience but it has yet to come. Haven't given up yet.
