As a fan of sour beer, Westbrook is Mecca! I posted more pictures than I usually do, just because for such a small indoor space, the varieties seemed endless. The large display hanging above the taps showcased the bottled selection - they also had these on the dry shelves and some in coolers, ready to go. The mixture of true gose (pronounced GO -Sah) and kettle sours certainly helps with the prolific selection.
We originally had a bead on coming here during a long weekend visit to Charleston and found it easily through google maps, even though we meandered through skinny tree-lined streets for quite a ways. It was certainly worth the trip! We had to figure out the paved parking was for the offices, and parked in the correct gravel lot. If that lot is too small, then they must be busting at the seams inside, which was small by any standard. Thank goodness for the outdoor patio, with picnic tables and cornhole.
We got a place at the bar where any bar keep could help us with our selections - and we both got flights of 4 in 5 oz glasses. They were also willing to serve small tastes from the draft taps. I don't think they had the bottles open for serving, but I believe you could buy it there and get it opened for a corking fee. There is a standing section for ordering from the bar, which I really appreciate as a bar patron. It's really uncomfortable sometimes when people lean all over you, beside and behind you to get a drink from the bar, when they don't have that area marked for standing orders. So "Thanks" for that! They clearly have loyal patronage as many came in for to-go selections and "one for the road".
We didn't stay long, as I was a bit hungry and the only thing served were kettle chips and big pretzels. (Normally, I would knosh on a pretzel, but I'm currently on a keto phase) So we headed out to find a bit more than a snack. Yep, I was loaded down with a 6-pack of the White Thai and a small koozie swag.
Thank you Westbrook for making sours "King!"
