"Not to be confused with the much larger and still-in-operation Western Bagel, Western City Bagel in Redondo Beach announced that it will close on March 31 after 30 years. “While this chapter may be coming to a close, the memories we’ve shared and the connections we’ve made will forever remain close to our hearts,” the shop wrote on Instagram." - Eater Staff

I went to Nectar next door and my youngest can be hit or miss with smoothies, so I was happy to see this right next door. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and was excited to see a everything wheat bagel! There were other tempting options, but I opted for the everything wheat with lox and cream cheese. I’ve had better bagels, but this was satisfying and definitely hit the spot. (My daughter preferred the bagel over the smoothie.) When I’m in the area again, I’ll come back.

Fresh bagels in this place are always delicious. You can see the empty bagel cases by 9:00 on Saturday morning, due to its popularity This morning I was annoyed because nobody even greeted me for what felt like a LONG time.

Google
I've been a loyal customer of this local bagel shop since my childhood, and I must say, it's an absolute gem. The bagels here are not only incredibly tasty but also a healthier option compared to many other breakfast choices. One of the things I love most about this place is the variety of cream cheese they offer. From classic flavors to unique, innovative options, there's something for every palate. The cream cheese perfectly complements their freshly baked bagels, creating a delightful combination of flavors. Overall, I can't express how much I love this place. It's not just a bagel shop; it's a cherished part of my life. If you're in the mood for some delicious and wholesome bagels, this is the place to be.

christopher cooper

Google
The bagels are pretty good but honestly the owners are the cheapest people ever. If I order bacon on my bagel give me freaking bacon. It’s honestly embarrassing how little bacon you get on your bagel, like trace amounts, I need a magnifying glass to see the bacon. Such a joke, I won’t be supporting this bagel place anymore. Anddd don’t order avocado because every time I get avocado it’s either completely unripe or completely over ripe and rancid. Get it together Western City Bagel, your embarrassing yourselves

Google
Quality food and competitive prices! The sandwiches are better than most I've had in the area. The jalapeño cheese bagel was SO fresh!

Chris Turek

Google
Bagels are far too small for the price. One breakfast bagel should be enough to feel full but I'm left still hungry. Bagels are warmed in the microwave. I'm not a huge fan of that. And service was very slow for being the only person there. If the bagels were $5, I'd be back. Instead, I paid $9. They're pricing themselves out of business.

Christina Armenti

Google
I love this place so much the lox and cream cheese bagel is to die for!

Google
I walked in, and the guy working there was nice, but as I was waiting for my order to be taken, I saw flies literally walking on the bagels, not flying, walking over. And these weren't tiny nats either. That was really off putting. I then looked up to see they wanted $9.50 for a breakfast bagel? Huh? Something was off with those prices. At that point, I actually just told the guy sorry I needed to go do something else.

Olivia S.

Yelp
I got the Tomato Mato with the Everything Cheese bagel and it was amazing! Next time I'd like to try it with the jalapeño cheddar bagel. I think that would be good but they were out of that option. Once you order, wait off to the side and then you pay at the end. Enjoy!

Quinn V.

Yelp
Old school bagel shop. The basics. No good veg or vegan options. In the shopping center with Whole Foods. Parking lot.

Susan U.

Yelp
My first visit and it wasn't a disappointment. We decided to get our breakfast here around 11 and there was already a line. I guess it's the weekend. We got the honey, lox and peanut butter spreads in sesame, blueberry and plain bagels. We enjoyed every bite with our coffee. The staff was efficient and just business-minded that day. I enjoyed our outside seating!

Nicole B.

Yelp
First time at western city bagel and it did the job. Checked in on the app and received a 10% coupon which was an added plus! Ordered their signature egg bagel and was satisfied. It wasn't the best I've ever had but filled me up. The store front is a classic bagel spot with a fridge full of drink options.

William B.

Yelp
One of our favorite places to grab a bite for breakfast and one of the best bagels in the area On the weekends we would put in an Order and run over to Wholefoods to grab a few groceries. We were very sad to see that this place had closed without much word. Southbay has definitely lost a good one. While there are more expensive good bagels in the area , this was the only decent place to grab a regular bagel.

Livi J.

Yelp
My favorite bagel shop!! So sad they are closing on 3/31/24! You will be greatly missed by this community :( and thank you so much for your delicious and perfect bagels!!

Emily V.

Yelp
This little bagel shop is my go to place in Redondo - it's located in a larger plaza which is walking distance from my apartment and is family owned/operated. The bagels are fresh and they have a variety options. I personally do NOT like cream cheese (don't @ me), so I appreciate a bagel spot with alternative options. My favorite/regular order here is the ABC+T+O on a garlic bagel. That's avocado, bacon, cucumber, tomato and onions - I'm kind of a veggie head so it's my dream come true, bagel-wise. The only downside to this place is the size of the bagels - although they're quality, they're on the smaller side.

Dennis S.

Yelp
This is actually my second time at Western City Bagel. The first time I had got a plain bagel with cream cheese that was toasted. It tasted good and the cream cheese is tasty. On this next visit, I switched up from a plain bagel to a breakfast bagel, specifically the bacon and egg bagel. Again, it was tasty but nothing crazy to make me want to crave a bagel all the time. I'll be back to try a lunch item and I suggest if you're in the Redondo Beach area and looking for a bagel place, go here.

Lauren T.

Yelp
Love these bagels! We usually like to get the Bacon Delight breakfast sandwich Great service, just a pickup counter so no real ambiance. There are a few tables outside.

Angela G.

Yelp
Many choices of different kinds of bagels. I got an egg and bacon sandwich and noticed this kind was 4 dollars more than the egg only and since I got about 4 very tiny pieces of bacon, I'd recommend just getting an egg bagel. This is a fine bagel shop if you'd like a light breakfast. It could be improved if they made larger bagels and made heartier breakfast sandwiches. I had the whole wheat everything and found it lacking the punch that everything bagels generally have. My egg was cooked nicely and I enjoyed the cream cheese.

Crystal T.

Yelp
I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years and their bagels are by far the best. I go get a bagel a few times a week. The everything bagel is so delicious that I just can't stay away. They have great customer service and a lot of the employees have worked their a long time. If you want a super yummy bagel look no further

Taylor S.

Yelp
Count your bagels wisely, my friends. Went in today and ordered six cinnamon raisin and six everything. Woman with a thick accent helped me. So, the cinnamon raisin went in one bag and on top of that in the second bag were the everything bagels. And of course, one extra one for good measure .... the 13th bagel ....which I also got as everything. I get home and take out the everything bag and count them - 7. And then I count the remaining bagels, the cinnamon raisin, and there's five, so basically I got 12 bagels not 13, and I got ripped off. I'm not happy about it because I don't live nearby. I'm sure it's an honest mistake and no big deal because what is it a buck and a quarter buck 75 but I was looking forward to that extra bagel. Now I wonder what happens at the end of the day with my stray bagel. Can someone tell me? I got home.

zoe c.

Yelp
I just don't know how this place is still around and on the shelves with local grocery stores. It's not a good bagel. It certainly is a "western" bagel because it isn't like any bagels coming from NY. It's small, the outside is not crisp, it's just a wad of soft bread. I drive to Torrance or Manhattan Beach for bagels bypassing this place that I can walk to in less than 10m. I guess someone is happy with their bagel bread option but it isn't a close to a traditional bagel.

Rainy D.

Yelp
Not the place for a breakfast sandwich bagel. I was there around 9:30 am on a Saturday. I ordered the bacon mania breakfast bagel on sourdough. Everything was microwaved. The egg was okay. The cheese was american and this stuck to my teeth. The one piece of bacon had no flavor and definitely no crisp. I crisp bacon in the microwave all the time so I know it is possible. There were people in and out all the time, a few choosing to eat at the tables outside. I probably just ordered the wrong thing.

Michele D.

Yelp
Came here for Breakfast, had the Bacon EGG and Cheese bagel with a coffee combo for $7.75. The ladies are so kind and polite and are so accommodating. They'll walk you through the menu to make any adjustments you'd like for your bagel . My everything bagel was very tasteful. Definitely coming here again to try a different one!

M R.

Yelp
Overpriced 5$ for a bagel cream cheese and toasted is wild. Especially when it's given to you cold time after time again. They used to be somewhat reasonable priced but now they are wilden and gamble of a good cooked bagel or not

Scott Z.

Yelp
My go to bagel joint on PCH. Great bagels. They do not skimp on the cream cheese. Plenty of bagel sandwich options. Super fast and friendly service too. Plenty of parking in this Whole Foods shopping center. Close to PCH so you're in and out and on your way to work fast...with your bagel and there happens to be a Starbucks and a great craft coffee shop within a few meters of this shopping area so you can upgrade yo self to a great morning.

Jannie M.

Yelp
Perfect breakfast after a walk on the beach! There was a line when ordering but it didn't take long, we got our food quick. I love their BAGELS! They were almost gone just because we got there around 12 almost, so I'm guessing it gets busy early morning, which I now understand. My favorite bagel was the jalapeño cheddar, which was just great! I decided to get the Turkey Sandwich on the jalapeño cheddar bagel, it was the right size and filling, and taste was awesome. My Bf got the sausage breakfast sandwich, the sandwich was a bit smaller I guess it because it didn't have as many ingredients as mine did, but it was still pretty good. There is a seating area outside, and just maybe room for two people inside, not a lot of room especially with social distancing. I would come again!

Sharon C.

Yelp
Well admittedly I arrived just before closing so all they had left was the salted bagels. I'd been craving a lox bagel so that's what I got. The fact they were practically sold out is a good indication of how good they are. I will need to try them again. I liked my bagel it was very salty which is what it should be since it was the 'salted' but oh boy you can have to much of a good thing. Staff was very nice. My only complaint is I couldn't use my check in discount because she didn't know what to do. But that's not big deal. Next time I will be early

Robert P.

Yelp
We picked up some bagels but had a real hard time understanding the staff because the TV set was blasting extremely loud. Apparently that's because the owner, for some sick reason, wants it that way. The whole thing was like meant to torture customers and staff. So I'd say don't go there unless you are desperate. And poor staff that has to work there in such an unhealthy stressful environment...

Yes V.

Yelp
Love the bagels and the staff are always nice! Clean, yummy and not expensive! Recommend this place!

Jim R.

Yelp
Very fast service. Bagel was good. Employees pleasant. Outdoor dining only. Mocha iced coffee was good also.

Kristie J.

Yelp
This place is a decent stop if you like bagels and muffins. Well this place doesn't do the volume the other places do it does do some really great bagels and really interesting flavors. Well they have unique flavors we just like the regular ones. The plain bagels were solid, blueberry muffins were dry. It's pretty quiet most mornings so if you want to go in and out quick it's easy. They do serve coffee here but it's not anything special just Seattle's best. This is a good grab and go spot. It's in a shopping plaza so there is easy parking.

Nisha P.

Yelp
The Pros: Opens early, friendly staff, cheap bagels and coffee, and convenient location with plenty of parking. Oh, and the veggie cream cheese was flavorful and had plenty of fresh finely chopped veggies in it. The Cons: The bagel was pretty average and also smaller than average- I got the 'everything' bagel, and I was expecting it to be packed with flavor, but it turned out to be pretty bland with less toppings, like onions, sesame seeds, poppy seeds etc, compared to others I've had. Overall: A pretty decent place to get a bagel and cream cheese for a decent price, but I've had better. I think I'll take my bagel business elsewhere next time!

Cara B.

Yelp
Meh. Average bagel shop. The bagels are on the small side. I got 2 very small pieces of bacon on my sandwich for their "bacon sandwich." Eggs w/cheese were good and I added avocado for extra. It wasn't bad, but there are so many other places with better breakfast sandwiches. The worker was super nice though! and it was quick, so if you are craving a breakfast sandwich and you happen to be in the shopping center it isn't a bad choice. Just note there are much better out there worth checking out!

Liana P.

Yelp
Always fresh, delicious and fast. The traditional bagel with lax, cream cheese and vegetables is my favorite one. Girls who work there always nice and helpful. Highly recommended

Jill K.

Yelp
I purchase about 3 dozen a month and the bagels are no longer consistent in quality . The bagels are more like hockey pucks these days and more expensive . They don't rise . They are out of plain bagels a lot . Sad I have to go somewhere else .

Fannie B.

Yelp
WCB continues to be a solid bagel place and very convenient . Located in the Whole Foods shopping center. They have a few outdoor tables too. Bakers dozen is $15.00. With Yelp check in you get 10% off. The ladies who work here are nice and professionals. I took off one star because they gave me 12 instead of 13 bagels with the Bakers Dozen. Despite its name the Bakers Dozen is supposed to have 13 bagels.

Kevin M.

Yelp
Took 15 minutes for a bagel with cream cheese, and their ABT sandwich that they didn't get right. 3 bagels was $20. Idiot behind the counter didn't offer to fix what they wrongly charged for. On top of it all, food was foul

Andy L.

Yelp
I had a pretty bad experience at this location today. My fiancé and I ordered two bagels with cream cheese and two small coffees all of which were bad. The bagel I ordered had an under-baked quality to its consistency and the cream cheese was extremely messy, spilling most of it out of the bagel. This may have been because it was toasted, which I did not ask them to do nor did I want. My fiancé's bagel did also not taste good and was over toasted; she did not want it toasted either. The coffee was abysmal. We ordered two black coffees and I don't think I've had coffee this bad in a long time. We threw them out almost immediately. Also our order took a very long time. Three other larger orders, that were made after our order, went out before us. This is, again, for two black coffees and two (untoasted) bagels with cream cheese. Also there is a four person customer limit sign listed outside of the business but people kept coming in even after the four person limit. It was borderline crowded at one point. I was really uncomfortable. I highly recommend not going here.

Mattsubie P.

Yelp
My work would always use this place to get bagels. They have a great assortment of bagels and drinks to choose from. Their everything with cheese and jalapeño with cheese are my favorite. You can even make your own sandwich from any of the bagels with a ton of ingredients. Love their ice coffee as well, super strong and sweet. Picked up a jalapeño with cheese bagel today and made it into a sandwich. Added ham, bacon, and American cheese to it, and what an amazing taste it was. Ordered it and it was fresh went I came to pick it up. The bagel was crispy and cheesy, just the way I like it. Not too burnt, just lightly toasted which gave you that crunchy bagel. The jalapeño and cheese bagel is a must! With some cream cheese added to it, it taste amazing. Tried their iced coffee and I'd say it taste better than Starbucks. It has a bold, strong taste, but it's also sweet so it's balanced out. It doesn't have the weird taste when you drink it straight black, but it sure does keep you up! You have to try them out. Definitely recommend them, you won't regret it.

Ashok J.

Yelp
We got couple of egg, tomato and cheese sandwiches on jalapeno bagel and burnt onion bagel. They were good but would not say exceptional. There were also some specialty bagels. Decent spread of bagel flavors.

Michelle W.

Yelp
This place is so expensive for what it is. A single bagel with flavored cream cheese is almost $5! Ordered a bagel with jalapeño cream cheese today and got home only to find it was just plain cream cheese. Pretty disappointed. Won't be returning. There are plenty of great small business bagel places around that are cheap and better tasting.

Nathan A.

Yelp
Weak bagels. The quality is comparable to the packaged bagels as a grocery store. No idea why people eat here.

Ingrid P.

Yelp
It was 6am and I was waiting for Paris Baguette to open next door as I watched a steady stream of people come in & out & in & out of Western City Bagel. Finally I thought: that place must be pretty good, if there are dozens of people making their way here at 6 in the morning. So I got myself a bagel. Reader, I married it. These are the best bagels I've eaten since H&H in New York. These are other-level bagels. I rarely eat California bagels, and when I do I go to Greenblatt's on Sunset, which isn't terrific but they'll do. Western City Bagel, though, is terrific. It's worth the drive to Redondo Beach. Periodically I find myself in the South Bay, and henceforth I will not miss the opportunity to stop here. I regret not buying a dozen this morning to just stick in my freezer. This place is absolutely superb in every way. I wish I could give Western City Bagel 3 dozen stars. Bravo! Standing ovation!

Crystal F.

Yelp
I had some time to kill before an appointment in the same plaza so I figured a bagel would kill some time. I'm ridiculously happy that I came here because they had fresh egg bagels available and mine was toasted to perfection. They didn't skimp on the lox cream cheese and it didn't taste weirdly processed Ike a lot of other places. They have a great assortment of other bagels and pastries available too. I was tempted to try one of their chocolate fudge croissants but the bagel itself turned out to be enough for me. I will definitely be back and bringing friends with me!

Julien B.

Yelp
Friendly local bagel shop. It's been here for ever since was a little kid. I usually get the egg and cheese bagel for about $4. A little pricey but always tasty.

Andrea O.

Yelp
I found this place while going to the Paris Bakery a door down from there. I was looking for something to eat for breakfast in the Paris Bakery doesn't have any pastries out when it opens so i decided to come here. Boy, am I glad! I ordered an egg bagel toasted with cream cheese. The Bagel did not disappoint. All The bagels looked so good. I also bought a blueberry Bagel to go and I'm dying to try the cheese bagel . the egg bagel totally hit the spot. I no longer live around here but ill sure be coming around for these bagels !!

Lauren M.

Yelp
Had the traditional bagel sandwich with lox and it was amazing!!!! Great quality, fresh ingredients. Friendly staff and line moves lighting fast. Would highly recommend this spot!

kathy J.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with Lovely Customer Service and Sun Dried Tomato Bagels! Grateful to have found a spot that carries yummy Sun Dried Tomato Bagels on a regular basis, as well as lovely customer service, provided by the amicable and delightful Miss Maria!

Niki N.

Yelp
I love bagels, one of my favorite things so I passedyhisa e and had to get something. Defiantly looks like a mom and pop shop (the best places) so I asked if I could make my own bagel sandwich. I ordered a onion bagel with cream cheese and sausage. Their bagels are delicious, and I mean you can't really go wrong with that simple sandwich. They were a little heavy on the cream cheese so maybe next time ask for light cream cheese, but other then that it was amazing. You can totally tell they make their bagels from scratch and everyone seems related in the shop and I love it. Parking wasn't too bad there's other shops around so they have a huge parking lot. There is no room to eat inside but outside there is like 3 tables to eat so it seems like a more take it home kind of food. Overall great place

Helena C.

Yelp
Omg YUM! I arrived for my appointment in this shopping center early so I decided to grab a bite to eat from here. Not only was the service great, their bagels are even better. I got an everything bagel with cream cheese and a vanilla iced coffee. The coffee was amazing and they warmed up my bagel to perfection. I took that first bite and actually said "wow" out loud....while sitting by in my car....alone. Their everything bagels are quite amazing. I'll definitely be back for another helping.

Miriam H.

Yelp
Great place to get fresh bagels. I ordered a half dozen variety and my husband and I enjoyed trying the different flavors. The cinnamon roll was our least favorite thing from this place. The strawberry cream cheese is also pretty good! I would definitely recommend this place and hope to come back the next time we're in the area.

Ana P.

Yelp
I have never left a review of an establishment, but this place made me feel so incredibly unwelcome, that I have to leave a review. Today I wanted to try this bagel spot. I had never eaten here before so I was unsure if items came with things like lettuce, tomato, caper, cucumber, etc. While looking over the menu, I asked the worker what came on the cream cheese and lox bagel. She then said, "Okay, just pick a bagel." I then said, "Okay, but what comes on the cream cheese and lox bagel." At this point I was hoping she would say something like, "Oh, cream cheese, salmon, etc. Or you can add certain items." Again, I've never been here before and wasn't sure how they made their bagels. She then looked at me, looked up at the menu, and back and me and said with some attitude "cream cheese and lox." She looks at her coworker makes a face, scoffs and laughs then looks back at me. She was so incredibly rude. At that point I didn't even bother to ask if there are items I can add to the bagel. I just said, "Sorry, I didn't know, I've never eaten here before." And just walked out. I wanted to support a small business but there's no way I'm ever eating here if the workers act this way and aren't willing to help customers.

Suzanna S.

Yelp
Local community bakery with multiple types of freshly made bagels and muffins. I always order their breakfast bagel sandwich,, Yumm. They have outside tables too.

Jeff K.

Yelp
Tasty bagels that aren't as dense as some. Their spreads/ cream cheeses are yummy. And the service always seems friendly and quick!

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
We used to go here to get the bagel dozen. Something has happened to the bagel quality. Hockey puck hard, flatter and smaller. And they raised the price on top of it. No thanks.

Sylvio F.

Yelp
Someone started a link on NextDoor complaining there aren't any good bagel places in Hermosa and Manhattan Beach for bacon, egg, cheese on a toasted everything bagel; of course it made me crave for NYC/NJ. However, Redondo has a great place in Western City Bagel in the mall across PCH from Eat at Joe's. Bacon, egg, cheese on a toasted garlic bagel was just what I was craving.

Antonio M.

Yelp
I knew as soon as I saw the "onion cream cheese" on the menu this place was going to suck. It's called scallion. That's it. Just Scallion. And they have a microwave..... Are you kidding me? Green onion and scallion is the same thing.... are you serious right now? And bagel shops say scallion and not "onion" so the customer doesn't have to ask what kind of onion your using.... So you don't know the difference between green onion and scallion? Lol I feel embarrassed for you I'm sorry.
