The food was pretty good 4/5, I had the Grilled Cheese and the Breakfast Wet Burrito, and I enjoyed both! The fries were a little greasy, but my friend took them home and liked them. The burger was well-liked too! Overall, it was a nice spot for a diner-style place. The food came out fast, and it was clean. The only downside was the service (this day). The server may have been having an off day, but she came across as a bit short and not very friendly when taking orders. For example, my friend ordered home fries and fruit as a side, but when her food came out, they were missing. It wasn't a huge deal to her at all and she politely mentioned it, and the server responded with something like, “Actually, you just ordered fruit, but I’ll add that on." in a tone that felt a little unnecessarily annoyed. We also overheard the same server speaking and gesturing to a younger staff member looking very annoyed, saying “Open your eyes!!” loud enough that a few people looked up. Again, might have just been an off day. I would come back.

Came here with my partner Memorial day weekend after visiting Pioneertown. Even though they were busy, the staff was very attentive and friendly. Took our drink orders first, and then came back to get our food orders. Food was tasty and I loved that they had mango mimosas! It's always nice supporting a local family owned/operated business, especially one with good food and great service. Will definitely come back again.

Google
First time stopping into this stopping in this place was recommended by somebody nice atmosphere friendly staff fresh squeezed orange juice prices are fairly reasonable wait time was not too bad at all pretty wide range on their menu I would say if you're in in the area stop and give it a try

Google

Such a cute diner, perfect for a stop over after camping at Joshua tree

Good breakfast. Nice portions. Fair priced. ( for these days of course) GOOD service. We only went for the breakfast and we weren’t disappointed. If there’s a group it can get loud. Otherwise great place.

First time visiting. Went on a Tuesday afternoon around 130pm for lunch. We ordered their lemonade, Shirley temple, pancakes, French toast, fajita omelette and the dinosaur nuggets with fries. I thought the food was just okay. For the price I was expecting a to enjoy the taste of the foods more but after tasting each item they were just ok for me; nothing special or unique about them. On a positive note their customer service was very good. I won’t return for another meal but I do recommend for first timers to make their own decision.

Yelp
Please tell me they aren't still charging $8.00 for ice tea?!! We went in months ago and our bill was sky high for "normal" dinner and when I looked at the bill, there it was, nearly $16.00 for two ice teas, without refills; the waitress never came over to offer that. We have not been back since that rip-off for drinks. Such a shame. Food was okay, not great, but okay. CHECK YOUR BILLS FOR OUTRAGEOUS COSTS!

Yelp
Cute little diner. Ordered the egg white veggie omelet. They were not stingy with the veggies. Hash browns were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I ordered pancakes in lieu of the bread slices. They were so good. Good size pancakes, berries and condensed milk were a nice touch. Pancakes are fluffy and melted in my mouth. Would come back. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Not a long wait at all. They let us sit wherever we wanted. The only con was that the restrooms needed a little work. One of the toilets didn't have a seat and there was water leaking from the sink and they placed a bucket underneath.

Yelp
Worth a visit! Came here after a weekend nearby & we were so happy! Food was SO good and SOO affordable. We were so full and happy afterwards! Our server was very polite and let us take our time. The ambiance is definitely "old cowboy" style and cute. Looks like many locals come here to read the newspaper and have coffee!!! Felt like such a cute small time diner. We will definitely come again!!!! Has everything from breakfast, burgers, teas, milkshakes, salads, soups, and burritos!

Yelp
UPDATE: Even better the second time around. Decided to stop in again for breakfast on the way out of town, and this time, everything was aces. It was a Friday morning, and we noticed that they offer free coffee to 55+ (M-F, for cash-paying customers), so the hubby took advantage of that. I got their Ortega chile omelette with hash browns and wheat toast, and the hubby got scrambled eggs, hash browns, and a side of cottage cheese. This time, when I asked for hash browns extra crispy, I got it, and they were awesome. The green chile omelette was chock-full of green chiles, sour cream, and cottage cheese--yum. The friendly, efficient servers kept those coffee refills coming and the prices were as reasonable as we remembered them. This is a solid, old-school diner popular with the local seniors--a hipster joint this most definitely ain't. Therefore, not a whole lot of vegetarian or vegan options, but If you're ok with that, it's a gem.

Yelp
Country friend steak was delicious. Cherry coke prepared in house. Ambiance was homey and the service was caring.

Yelp
Great food, great vibes, great service. Jenny was our server and fantastic. Made us feel right at home. The burgers were delicious. Nice clean place to stop in while on the road!!

Yelp
It's extremely relieving being able to go to a restaurant/diner and hand them my bariatric medical card and they accept it I've had a couple issues here in Yucca Valley but not with this place walked in and was welcomed to the food and atmosphere was absolutely amazing waitress was super sweet and I loved her Halloween spirit extremely clean and well well-maintained Try the HOME FRYSSSS

Yelp
The breakfast was so good we went back the following day. Went to another place and didn't want to order at the counter, se we found this here and we're glad we did. It's a cute western style diner, with comfortable seating and nice Devore. I had the green chili omelette and he had the chorizo omelette, which was so good I ordered it the next day. Will definitely be back when we return to town.

Yelp
Oh wow this breakfast spot was so good! We stopped by as our weekend getaway was coming to an end Sunday morning. Found on yelp, and I'm glad we ended up here after a few failed attempts. We did not have a wait time for 2, quickly seated. The service was amazing, the staff were friendly. But the food was a different story! I got an omelette, with a side of pancakes. I'm a Stickler for pancakes, and these were on par with IHOP's, flavor wise. Since they came as a side for the omelette, the pancakes came more in a mini size :( but in the future I know to make the pancakes the main meal!!!! The place was pretty spacious inside, very western vibe as said in its name. This will be a usual stop for us when we're back in the area.

Yelp
Open til 1am with great food and great service. The burgers are perfect. Support local business.

Cassie G.

Yelp
Our our food was great! Service was even better. The sever was very sweet and personable. It had a nice crowd in there so it must be a local hot spot. Can't wait to go back.

Jesus R.

Yelp
This a must try place Pancakes are amazing Biscuits and gravy are great Omelets are also fantastic the hobo is my favorite.

erin c.

Yelp
It's literally one of my favorite breakfast spots! The food is always delicious! My favorites are chicken fried steak or the taco grande omelet. My hubby loves the eggs Benedict.

Karen O.

Yelp
Had a great late brunch here overall. It wasn't crowded at the time (I was pretty late for the brunch crowd) and it was hellacious hot outside but nice & breezy inside! Here's what went well: The three cheese omelette (added bacon) was really good. Hash browns-asked for well-done were good could've used a few more mins on the grill but won't take off for that! Food came out really fast! Skip the biscuit & gravy (wish I'd just had toast-uncharged $2 for it and it wasn't good but I'm Southern and a snob about that so-take that as you will (biscuits made inside but weirdly sweet? Gravy from a packet-couldn't even eat one bite-, see, I'm a snob! I'm also a tea snob and the iced tea was good). Service was prompt and very friendly! Loveina was really sweet! My meal ended up being more $$ than I intended but whattayagonnado? Will I go back? Yes! I want to try some of their salads & wraps and maybe the tuna melt! I'll definitely update if I visit when in the area again! Ohhhh, SUPER IMPORTANT: they didn't harass me about my tiny service dog who just does her job and minds her business! That's worth the gold right there, so I give you a pass on the bad gravy!!

Chad C.

Yelp
Stopped by this awesome Diner on my way through town because we were starving! I got the wet breakfast burrito with chorizo and she had the tuna salad...salad? In any case, the food was delicious, exactly what we'd hoped it would be. The service was fast, super friendly, and the price we paid was fair. 100% will be coming back on our next trip, maybe I'll try a burger next time.

Millie M.

Yelp
The Western diner is the perfect little school around if you are ever craving American food in Yucca. Our family got a variety of sandwiches and wraps, and they were all delicious for lunch. The wraps were crunchy and had fresh vegetables with tender meat to go along with it, and the burger was juicy Greasy and delicious. I also got the peach iced tea, which was amazing because of the fresh fruit added on top. For dessert our family got the Oreo milkshake and it was smooth and creamy. Delicious!

Ronnie S.

Yelp
Great service & the food is amazing. Highly recommend IMO. Breakfast Lunch or Dinner I've never been disappointed. American Breakfast

Ernie M.

Yelp
Western Diner is a small restaurant located in old town Yucca, it has a western themed atmosphere with a small but delicious menu. The service is superb and very attentive. I recently ate breakfast here and was a simple but delicious meal, eggs, hash browns, toast and ham.

Roseanne W.

Yelp
Awesome breakfasts!! Large plate of food , very good !! Best !!! Berger in town right now , cooked to your preference ! Can't ask for anything better, Yummy! Also have had their Chef Salad ! Very nice ! Crisp and Clean ! Staff are all very nice !!!!!

Dale W.

Yelp
I went there for breakfast and ordered the chicken fry steak breakfast. The waitress asked if I wanted pancakes or biscuits with my meal and what kind of potatoes I wanted. I asked for hashbrowns and I was asked if I wanted gravy on the potatoes. I discovered later that the pancakes did not come with the breakfast and I was charged for the topping on the potatoes. I did not know this until I got the check. The menu stated my breakfast was $11.99 and my coffee was $3.49. My check came to $21.16 with the extras I thought came with the breakfast. The worst part was the chicken fry steak was small and tough and shoe leather. I would have had a better breakfast at a fast-food restaurant.

Sondra H.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken wings on 9/5. They tasted a bit odd so I didn't finish them. And no, I didn't say anything at the time. 3 hrs later I was vomiting and had a severe stomach ache; hadn't eaten anything else but the chicken wings. Called today to let them know they might want to take a look at the chicken. I was literally blown off by person on the phone and then hung up on. Hopefully they'll take a look so no one else gets sick.

Josh E.

Yelp
Fantastic Diner! Service was excellent.. my coffee was given a warm-up every few minutes. My Denver Omelette & Sour Dough Toast was delightful! Definitely stop by!!

Bricelda Welcome W.

Yelp
Free coffee from 7-10 for seniors 55+ chile verde omelette for me and Ham steak for my hubby . Delicious friendly service . Place very clean , western style decor . I will definitely will be back

Linda S.

Yelp
I gave four stars because the food is very good, and the service is great, however, the restrooms seriously need remodeling. There are 2 stalls in the women's restroom and one of the toilets have been without a toilet seat, for as long as I've been going there, which is about two years now.

Chris C.

Yelp
Came up for breakfast from riverside and noticed they had 4.5's and for a breakfast place on Yelp that unheard of. This place is right next to the trail that takes you to big bear.... Great breakfast. I had the pork chops and the only complaint would be larger portions. I ate every bite but didn't have that I CANT EAT ANOTHER BITE FEELING.... Hopefully they read this and make some adjustments. I'll be back and I'll make sure to ask for larger portion but it's really good food and lived up to the 4.5 so I'm giving the place 5 stars and the hot waitress 10 stars.

Chance H.

Yelp
Stopped in after work today and will definitely go back the next time I'm out in the area. Food was great, the waitress was very friendly and accommodating. She was waiting on and bussing the tables and was super busy but still made a point to continually check on us and fill our drinks. 10/10

Madeline S.

Yelp
I'm so sad that I can't give this place a great review. The diner is very clean and cute like you would expect a small town diner to be. Service is polite, but when we were there, though the food took over an hour to call me out of the kitchen. We ordered 4 different dishes and the only thing that was good were the hash browns. The biscuits and gravy were gloopy and flavorless. Pancakes tasted like nothing. Eggs were super rubbery, wet, and bland. Coffee was weak. Overall, the food was not worth the wait. Sad because this cute diner has so much potential.

Don E.

Yelp
The food has always been good. The service in the past couple of months is very poor I've noticed that they've made some staff changes got a couple of new people waiting on tables. They need the get rid of them and bring the STAFF THEY HAD Weeding the tables. Your food order was correct and in a timely fashion....... My past few visits, not getting my food. In a timely fashion and missing some of my order. This has happened. On more than one occasion.

Cipra M.

Yelp
Although the hours are weird the food is delicious and the portions are definitely worth the price. Service is amazing and the restaurant is very clean.

Laura S.

Yelp
The Western Diner is the perfect place for breakfast or lunch. I had Polish sausage and scrambled eggs and my guest had a huge Western omelette. Our server was friendly, efficient, and she listened! When a server cares about the customers' orders, the experience is almost always superior. My eggs were scrambled as ordered; cooked thoroughly but not overly so. The hash browns were crispy, as requested. Getting crispy hash browns has become challenging and when done right, are divine. These were all that. The Polish sausage was plentiful and perfectly seasoned. We went on a weekday mid-morning and the place was about half full. We didn't mind waiting for our food because it was delicious, filling, and cooked perfectly. The portions are generous and it is helpful to walk in hungry. There was a well-behaved little dog at the next table and it was nice to see she was welcome. They were a couple kids at another table and they were as happy as the rest of us. There are many good casual restaurants in the High Desert but the Western Diner is worth seeking out. The food is delicious and cooked well, the bathrooms are clean and the restaurant is spotless and air-conditioned. Summer in the desert is no joke and not all restaurants have working air conditioning. The Western Diner IS air conditioned and you will be comfortable. The Western Diner is easy to miss so pay attention and you will be well-rewarded.

Yelp
My wife and I and our friends stopped in Saturday morning for a late breakfast. Some of us enjoyed branch items. Friendly staff, and nice decor overall. The meal's were very tasty and delivered in a visually appetizing manner. not sure if we'll ever get back again; however, we truly enjoyed this visit

Jeff L.

Yelp
The rule of the road in Texas is whenever you are in a new place and you want to eat some great food, look for the restaurant with the most cars in the parking lot - and Larry & Milt's Western Cafe is no exception to this rule! ...And the two grandmas waiting tables here are the hardest working ladies in Yucca Valley! Being a chicken fried steak and biscuits & gravy connoisseur, I got their famous chicken fried steak breakfast and it was fantastic. Their country gravy was OUTSTANDING, which is something I rarely say - but this one deserves it! It's some of the best tasting gravy I've had! The chicken fried steak was wonderful and the crispy hash browns were top notch as well and wonderfully flavorful. My girlfriend got the country breakfast which also had the hash browns and biscuits & gravy. She got the sausage links and they were so delicious. So glad to have found this wonderful breakfast spot out here in Joshua Tree and will definitely be back!

Debi B.

Yelp
Lived here for 9 years and finally went for breakfast there. Food was great, prices were amazing and the service was the best in a long time. A small little home town resturant. It will be our new favorite breakfast place! Highly recommend them .

Miles K.

Yelp
We stopped in after visiting Joshua Tree National Park and tgis place hit the spot. Great fries and Burgers...

Jasmine C.

Yelp
This was a good breakfast spot. We had a group of 8 people so it did take awhile to get our orders in and have the food came out. We came around 10am on Sunday and it was busy probably since everyone is checking out of the Airbnb at the same time. Good spot if you want a traditional breakfast.

Nicole M.

Yelp
My 5 Stars is for Loveina! She was serving 7 different tables QUICKLY, efficiently, had the best service & better food there than the black bear diner restaurant down the street. She was the best and our food also came out very quick. I would recommend stopping here if you are in the area! Very yummy and has that great home cooking taste.

S K.

Yelp
Visited on a Saturday morning. Didn't have to wait long. I was super excited to try after reading the reviews but was disappointed when we left. Waited about 20 min just to get our order taken even though everyone around us got checked on. Food was sooooo bland. I had the pancake meal & husband had the French toast meal and he agreed. He took one bite of his sausage and it was pretty undercooked in the middle. Never one of us finished our breakfast. Sadly we'll try a different spot next time we're in town.

Kerri M.

Yelp
This restaurant has a great ambiance of western loving... the service, music, and food was all impeccable. Closes earlier in day serving breakfast and lunch. Also has some beer and champagne drinks, making delicious Chavela and Mimosa! Give them a try you won't be disappointed!

Laura B.

Yelp
The tuna melt on rye was great. The chicken fried steak was a little chewy but the home fries were done perfectly. Service was super friendly and efficient with only 3 servers in a Sunday. Kitchen was slammed so the food delivery took an hour:( Otherwise a good experience.

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Hire more wait staff that can push the food out so it doesn't sit under heat lamps for 25 minutes.

Marcia M.

Yelp
They were very busy but we got a table fairly quickly. The coffee was hot and fresh and kept coming. Breakfast was fantastic, portions are huge. Staff was very friendly

Melissa M.

Yelp
Made a last-minute decision to stop for breakfast as we were driving through. So glad we did! They hit it out of the park! Do yourself a favor and order the chili Verde omelet. Coffee was good, orange juice was delicious. Go hungry portions are plentiful!

Richie L.

Yelp
I love this place. Staff are all super nice, and the food was great! Huevos rancheros and the Monte Cristo are big hits. Don't bother going anywhere else in this part of town. The Western Diner is where you need to be. What a restaurant! Ambiance is great too. Cozy booths for big and small parties.

Lissette P.

Yelp
My friends and I were visiting Joshua Tree and decided to stop by Western Diner to have breakfast and it was an amazing experience of delicious food and excellent service by our server Jenny. She was so busy but always watching for us. We definitely will be!

Tommy V.

Yelp
This used to be a second location for Larry and Milt's Western Cafe. Looks like they have incorporated and changed the name based on the License posting for beer and wine in the window. The food here is pretty good and the chicken fried steak is made from scratch. No frozen pucks. The only downfall this place has ever had is the lack of staff. If it is busy, don't bother. You will be here forever. If it is mellow, enjoy. If they ever get staffing fixed. I will gladly give them 5 stars, but one server on busy days with no cashiers or busses is absurd.

Lucy G.

Yelp
It was early and we wanted breakfast before going into Joshua Tree National Park. We stopped at this place because we saw cars and some people on the patio and we thought "it must be good". Our thoughts were right! . People were so friendly and nice. I ordered the hobo omelette and my husband ordered the chicken fried steak. The meals are big and delicious! I highly recommend this place for great food. We will definitely be going back the time we are in the area.

Michael L.

Yelp
The food was good and service was excellent. Got here just before 9:30 and by the time we left it's was packed. Keep in mind if you don't get a booth then it can be tight quarters for everyone moving around. The only complaint i would have is the windows don't have blinds just a tint, so even with the tint if you sit by a window you will be hot. Older building so A/c probably isn't cooling as fast as the room in getting heated by the sun.

Sean M.

Yelp
Good food good service. Better than black bear diner! Recommended. Have fun!_________________

Tara R.

Yelp
The food was really good. I had the chicken fried steak with hash browns. It took a bit to get the food but not a horrible wait. The part that I was disappointed about was this: on the online menu the price for chicken fried steak was $10.99. But at the place it was $15.99. Also, I was charged extra for the biscuits and gravy that I asked if it came with. She said it did but yet was charged $1.89 extra. I asked about it and they just said "sorry" I don't like games. Just be honest. The only other item was I would ask for more coffee, etc and it took 20 minutes. And it wasn't busy. Good food, but not going back due to dishonesty.
