"Western Pacific, a pizza-focused restaurant in Berkeley, was opened by Charlie Hallowell and Donna Insalaco in October 2018. Despite its initial popularity, the restaurant faced significant business decline after Solei Ho, a restaurant critic, publicly refused to review or recommend it due to Hallowell's past allegations of sexual harassment. The restaurant's business reportedly dropped by 50%, and it was eventually sold in 2019." - Eve Batey

Wow this place is good! The ambience is rustic and chill. Lots of wood: tables, chairs and wall panels. The service was perfect and attentive. I had the baked ziti which was so good with a crunch on top. I had the mozzarella salad with persimmons and pomegranate. We got some oysters that had this amazing sauce to go with it. I had an delicious drink with lavender, mezcal, and Campari. Everything was perfect!

The food and drinks and PW are incredibly delicious and top notch. Can't think of a better tasting meal in downtown Berkeley than right here. The grilled eggplant with watermelon, olives & ricotta salata and all their vegetable dishes make me fall in love w veggies all over. California dining at it's best. Drinks are amazing well balanced and tasty too.

The vibe at this spot is soooo Oakland. It's trendy, chic, organic, and modern. This was the first place I walked in on my first day visiting Oakland and it set the vibe for the rest of my trip. Inside there are tons of tables to set up shop and work. It was a cold day when I went so I ordered an Americano and organic chicken broth. I also grabbed toast wth the homemade strawberry jelly. There are so many affordable bites to choose from while you work and the staff is amazing.

I've been here repeatedly since they opened, looking for a nice space, good food, and good drinks. Their brunch is tasty-- so much so that I thought things were more expensive. Prices are comparable with other similar brunch spots, and I've been able to be seated immediately every time, at peak brunch times. I came for happy hour, which I'd highly recommend! It's a short happy hour (only an hour, unlike other late afternoon happy hour places). At its normal price, the food is good, but perhaps not quite worth the high price tag. The standout here are their drinks and ambiance. Three almost separate spaces allow for different vibes, but the restaurant feels warm all around, with a modern/industrial edginess. The drinks are great! Of everything I've tried, and my friends have tried, we've all enjoyed our drinks! Each have a nice balanced flavor. Service is solid- friendly and casual. They have some weird tech glitches sometimes, like the music suddenly increasing in volume, or the lights briefly going out. Tldr: all around good place to go for brunch, drinks, or happy hour

Nice place, okay with bringing kids for lunch but still manages to have an adult dinner and drinks vibe at night. I think that's hard to accomplish! I liked the hash for breakfast, and I liked the oyster option in the evening. Good wine list. We had a pasta dish at dinner with pork that was very good.
