Western Station - Review - Eagle Rock - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If you're in Eagle Rock and in need of some good wine and beer, Western Station is a great place to go. They serve bar snacks as well. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Brant Cox

Lovely date night gem! I’m a big fan of wine bars, but too many in LA are pretentious and off putting. This place has such a charming vibe and a great selection. Love the decor and lighting too. I wish I lived closer!

I LOVE this place!! Truly a unique and beautiful gem in Los Angeles. The staff are all very kind and knowledgeable. I found my new favorite wine EVER based on their recommendation after I said “medium red,” not a lot to go off of and they nailed it.

Finally made it to this beer/wine bar on a weird stretch of Colorado past the Eagle Rock Target Plaza. Decor is very cool, in line with the name, it has Joshua Tree/high desert vibes. Beer and wine choices were good and they have take home beer and wine as well. Seating arrangement is pretty chill. Was not crowded between 730 and 930 on the Friday night in August when I visited. Recommend!

Called over the phone and asked someone to set aside two bottles of crisp, minerally whites and they picked out a delicious German and even more delicious Portuguese wine. They are very knowledgeable and have a fun selection! Looking forward to going back.

Google
Raciest establishment! - would not recommend. My boyfriend and I who are well above the age of 21 were denied service this week because the lady working the front with glasses didn’t believe our IDs were us. I have never had my ID so disrespectfully and wrongfully denied. Was a bummer and left us with the ick of racism. We were excited to come in and celebrate my boyfriend’s new promotion, after having a great date night the first time we came in at the end of last year. Would not recommend this place to anyone was a horrible experience.

It was my first time here last night, and it didn’t disappoint. I met a friend here for a drink, because she wanted to check it out. The atmosphere is cool and service from the bartender was great. I’m adding this to one of my “go to” spots in Eagle Rock. 😎

Yelp
Great, low-key wine bar with a friendly staff and delicious wine and beer selections. Really appreciate that you can actually have a conversation without straining your voice over blaring music, though they do play good tunes at a reasonable volume. Always manage to find an interesting new bottle to gift or take home.

Yelp
Opened in March of this year, Western Station has a cozy atmosphere and a warm, relaxing vibe. I met up with a friend here to unwind after work. In addition to a vast array of natural wine, this neighborhood friendly place has a nice selection of craft beer. They offer six ice cold taps and a rotating selection of 12 - 15 wines by the glass. (Half glass options are available.) You can also purchase a bottle to consume on site. ($20 corkage fee.) We inquired if they offered flights. The bartender, Dan, told us they were working on adding it to the menu. However, he said he'd be happy to put one together for us. We opted for a flight of whites. Dan curated a nice offering that included a dry white (Aphros Loureiro 2021), a Sauvignon Blanc (Greenhough River Garden 2021), and a Rosé (La Tour de Gatigne 2021). For my 4th I requested a Cava (Joan Colet Rius) and my friend went with a red. We were happy with Dan's selections and also enjoyed conversing with him. He is very knowledgeable and told us about each winery and helped us identify the tasting notes. The price of the flight was reasonable. ($24.50) Overall, it was a pleasant evening. Exactly what we both needed, and the wine flight did not disappoint. *Free parking on side streets or metered parking on Colorado. * Light snacks available for purchase.

Yelp
Words that come to mind are cozy, intimate, and friendly. It definitely has that neighborhood bar vibe where patrons sit at the bar, chat with the bartender, or just sit alone with your thoughts. Don't expect loud TVs. There are none but that's the point. The interior is painted in a dark, moody emerald green with a dark wood trim and antique chandeliers hanging above. They have a great selection of craft beer and cans/bottles are available for purchase. They also have a variety of wine. I saw two restrooms which blew my mind for a small bar. Tipping my hat to the owner on that one. I was there to celebrate a friend's birthday with about 15 others mingling with other regulars. It was a comfortable space with plenty of room to sit. Overall, I definitely recommend Western Station and there's nothing more I like to do than promote a local spot. There's free street parking and metered parking available. Check the signs.

Yelp
We ended up finding this spot after we tried to go to relentless and the line was OUT the door. This is very small and quaint spot, a bit isolated from the business of Colorado blvd. There are seats both at the bar and in the front. We ended up having two glasses of wine and the sommelier was able to recommend a wine based on our favorites. Overall a great experience, and I would definitely come back!

Yelp
The chillest spot in Eagle Rock to post up and have a glass or two. Good tunes and people and a great selection of wines and beers.

Yelp
Very cute and cozy spot with friendly bartenders, and a nice selection of natural wine and beer. We purchased a couple bottles and a 4-pack to take home, but look forward to enjoying a fresh pour sometime soon. The wines all have nice little descriptors, and as someone who regularly shops the usual east side natural wine shops, their wines here are very competitively priced. Happy to have this addition in the neighborhood!

Yelp
What a great spot. Well-curated selection of beer and wine. Nice staff. Lovely room. Chill vibe. Parking can be a challenge.

Yelp
We love this location. We loved it when it was Colorado wine, and are so happy that the new owners have taken it over. Great selection, great ambiance. Exactly what you're hoping for in a local bar.

Yelp
There are so many aspects of this small business to love: the curation of wine, the atmosphere, the service, and more. At Western Station, I'm delighted by the selection of wine. They always have several wines that I enjoy and they sell glasses and bottles at great price points. The atmosphere is low-key and pleasant. It's a perfect local spot to meet up with friends at night or read a book in the afternoon. The bartenders are friendly and helpful. I've learned much about wine from Dan. I've enjoyed Jessica's consistently great service and friendliness. Ashley and Brian, who own Western Station, both seem invested in the community and building that community. To sum it up: I'm happy this is my neighborhood bar within walking distance from my home.

Yelp
I went to this establishment last night to meet a friend-the update is nice and cute but the bartender made me feel excluded. She was so confused when I told her I wanted a bottle of wine and didn't inform me of the corkage fee until my friend and I order a second bottle. Which was totally fine since we were willing to pay for it to help this small local business. Anywho, I noticed that she had a lot of "friends" come in and give them free glasses of wine (not tastings). She even at one point starting pouring out of the bottle I purchased to strangers. Then she realized what she did as I pointed it out. She offer us a pour to make up for pouring from the bottle I purchased but only poured it into my friends (female) glass excluding me. She continued to give her "friend" and serval others around her free pours. It appeared that when you're at this establishment you are not on an equal "playing field" and it honestly made me feel uncomfortable and not welcomed. It made me think, maybe it was because I'm gay, maybe it was because I'm dressed like this or maybe because it's because she doesn't give a shit about me and it more attentive to the female persuasion. All I know this that I felt uncomfortable and not welcomed. I was polite and kind but again the vibe was, "we don't want you here!" Major ick. UPDATE: Thank you for your response Brian-I appreciate you taking the time to do so. And thank you for clearing things up. I do understand the concept of "tabs" and you're absolutely right-I did assume/make an assumption. But maybe this is attributed to the demeanor of the bartender and quality of service. Maybe hiring someone with a friendlier, outgoing, detailed-oriented and vivacious personality would benefit your business.

Yelp
Love this place and the people who work here. Everybody is friendly and knowledgeable. This is a great addition to the neighborhood.
