Best Breweries in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"Sprawl out inside this spacious Deep Ellum spot with a big group. Wednesday is trivia night, and you can play for free while you sip on Super Dry, a crisp Japanese-style ale, or Leg Day, a heavier 8% ABV Scotch ale. The food, which ranges from smoked buffalo wings and flatbreads to a soft, chewy pretzel, is welcome after you’ve had a few beers, but there are better options around if you’re just looking to eat." - Courtney E. Deep Ellum’s Newest Brewery Has Arrived - Eater Dallas

"Westlake Brewing Company, Deep Ellum’s newest destination for tons of beer, just opened its doors. In the works since 2017, Westlake Brewing Company kicked open the doors at 2816 Commerce Street earlier this week with brews like the Hazy IPA, Blonder Ale, Leg Day Scotch ale, and an Oatmeal Stout, among other hoppy options. Also on the menu: a booze-soaking soft pretzel served with beer cheese." - Amy McCarthy

Google
Really nice brewery. Plenty of room inside and out. Enjoy the food and the beer. The kids enjoyed the pizza. Will definitely go back again next time in Dallas.

Google
This place is spot on - great brewery tap room with plenty of space, good beer and friendly staff. A bit of a treck from the main Dallas area but certainly worth it. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area!

My wife and I have a tradition of visiting a brewery, distillery, or winery every time we visit a new city. We ended up going to the Westlake Brewing Company and had an amazing time. We went on a rainy Tuesday afternoon and there weren't many people there. It provided a quiet and relaxing environment that let us enjoy the delicious beers we decided to try. The person serving the beers was extremely attentive, helpful, and provided us with excellent service. We ordered a flight each to try out some beers. The Super Dry, Shaved Ice, Rye So Amber, and Blond Coyote were all great. We also ordered the enormous pretzel with the beer cheese. The pretzel was great and paired well with the beers. There is an affordable parking lot right behind the brewery where you can pay to park. This is a great brewery that is making some really good beer. If we ever come back to the area, we would love to come back and visit so we can try some of the other styles.

Google
This week I have been to Westlake brewery three times. I tried more flavors. So far rainout is my favorite. In addition to flat bread, Pretzel and pretzel bites are pretty good. Don’t forget churros.

Google
Have you ever walked into a brewery on a Monday and you're the only person when they first open and wondered maybe this is bad!? Well this was me but everything quickly reminded nope, you're exactly where you should be! Thank you for the wonderful beer, conversation, and recommendations for my last day in Dallas. Cannot wait to come back!

Tharen G

Google
Fantastic spot. Just stopped in real quick to try some beer and get a pretzel, highly recommend. Definitely will be coming back!

Google
As breweries go this one rates among one of the best I've been at in terms of offerings and flavor of their crafts and choices and tastes of their food. Loved all but one in my flight as well as one of the few beers I've graded above a 4.5 on Untapped. Had a pretzel braut that was outstanding. Only thing lacking was a larger outdoor area, but not sure you can really expect that in downtown Dallas. Not sure I'd want to be in this area of town at night. I've heard it's kind of rough, but we love the place and will definitely be back. Oh, and John, the bartender, was a really cook dude. Very unique individual with a great sense of humor.

Google
Fun craft brewery. They have lots of variety. Plenty of room to hang out and enjoy the beers. Great patio area outside if you want to enjoy the sunshine and the views. They have the standards like games.

Yelp
Had a really good visit here on a Saturday afternoon. The beers were great but the best part was talking to the staff. We had a non beer drinker with us and they provided really personal suggestions and have samples to make sure they had a good experience. We also helped taste test a new drink they were working on. A typical brewery experience with snacks and you can bring your own food but the team makes the difference.

Yelp
Despite some pretty rough construction around the area, we were relieved to find a parking lot just across the road. While it's not the most convenient setup, there are other parking options available. We stopped in to check out this new brewery, and I'm so glad we did! The space is roomy, with board games to enjoy and a fun lineup of events, like yoga and trivia! The staff was incredibly friendly, and best of all, it's dog-friendly, so bring your pups! Buffalo Chicken Flatbread $11.09 Buffalo sauce, chicken, mozzarella cheese, & ranch drizzle. We loved the light, crispy flatbread and appreciated that the buffalo sauce wasn't overly vinegary. The only downside, it it wasn't sliced as much as we would have liked, which made it a bit tricky to eat and tear apart. Choice of Brew Super Dry $12.75 - A Japanese-style ale with a light body and a dry, crisp finish. (6.0% ABV · 10.0 IBU) This was one of the lightest yet crispiest beers I've had in a while, and I truly appreciated it, especially as the day started to warm up. The beer prices are slightly higher, but it balances out since the food is affordable. Plus, they encourage a BYO food policy, which adds a fun picnic-style vibe. Overall, a great spot worth checking out!

Yelp
Love coming to this place and always make a point to visit each time I work in Dallas. This place is very welcoming with large open space with plenty of seating. Easy to locate in the heart of Deep Ellum and easy enough to walk from downtown Dallas on a nice weather day. Check their calendars as they normally have Monday and Wednesday run club meet ups which is a great way to meet some new people of all skill running levels (walkers on up to runners) and you get to explore some nice nearby neighborhoods with large porch houses in a safe area for jogging. Also Wednesday night is normally trivia night which is a great way to share your knowledge and enjoy some beverages. They have a small food menu with pretzels, pizzas, nachos and such and they welcome you bringing in in your own food from nearby establishments. The staff is always super friendly and chill. The beer is good for Dallas with a nice variety of styles. If they made more good hazies like Celestial or Turning Point, then they might earn the 5th star for me

Yelp
Love this place. We visited on a Groupon and ended up getting a few flights. They have a whole bunch of different beers to try. They all were great!! We even got a few glasses to bring home with us and a few cans as well. We had the buffalo chicken flatbread as well.

Yelp
Tasty beer, great service, and cool spot. I really enjoyed the shave ice beer. The food looks delicious and there are games to play! If we lived here I'd definitely be back.

Yelp
Went to Dallas for a visit and a friend took me here.....First, I love beer.....Who doesn't, right? This is a very open space, with plenty of craft beer options to choose from. Seating was ample, they even had a patio. I love the clean light wood accents......Very inviting and trendy... My friend, who is a DJ, thought this would be an excellent place to have a party, espcially with all the open space and the patio. Spacious enough to accomidate seated, standing or dancing patrons, while offering the patio for smokers or those who want a little air. The server was friendly and knowledgabe about all beers on the menu........Did I mention, the beer is brewed onsight? Sitting at the bar, you can view the brewery which is located behind the bar, seperated by a glass wall. The beer was excellent.....I believe I had the delkus.....Twice.... I wouldn't recommend coming here to eat with a big appetite but they do offer food, although it's more like light entrees and appetizers. The beer is by far the centerpiece. My friend and I were suprised how empty it was on a late friday evening, citing that a plce like this in chicago would be packed. Definitely looking forward to returning.....

Yelp
Great little brewery in northern downtown area. They have IPAs, ciders, sours, and a sake yeast strong ale. Parking on the street. Yes they have food and those that don't do beer, they have wine offerings.
google avatar

Belle S.

Yelp
Friendly and hospitable owner/bartender; reasonably priced merchandise, free stickers, yay!! The place has a large dining area although we didn't get to try their food. The place looks inviting with a lot of games to entertain kids.
google avatar

Anthony L.

Yelp
Service was quick and staff was friendly. I arrived shortly after it opened for the day so there was plenty of places to sit at the bar and in the dining area. Beers were good. I had their Shave Ice and Rainout Hazy. Buffalo chicken flatbread as also good however being from Rochester, anyone will tell you that Buffalo sauce only pairs with Blue Cheese and not ranch. The owner and I had a good laugh about it. I would definitely return to try more of their beers

Yelp
We stopped in for some beers after enjoying some good Texas BBQ. The place was pretty big inside with a ton of seating. Mostly long benches. A few of the beers sounded good so I went with a flight. I would saw they were all okay. Nothing really jumped out at me with some amazing flavors. I would say the vanilla wheat was my favorite but it didn't taste like vanilla at all, which was odd. The service was okay. The guy seemed to be just there. Like he wasn't thrilled at all to be working. With there being other brewery options around the area, I would probably go to a different one than return to to Westlake.

Fawn K.

Yelp
Fun place, great service. We enjoyed the pretty in the dark beer, Peter's porter and a sour beer. They have games and things to do
google avatar

Anastasia W.

Yelp
This was a great place to visit!! The staff was super nice and the beer was so refreshing. I don't remember which one I got but it was their lightest beer they had. Would love to coome back again and try their food when I have more time.
google avatar

Christina N.

Yelp
This place is dead. I came here on a Groupon and I actually stopped in 2 times but only stayed one of the times. Both times were dead which was actually why I didn't stay the first time I stopped in. The night that I actually went was a Friday. Service was ok. Beers were ok. It was cool that they had lots of board games but I would say that's it. We tried to order food but they stopped serving at 8pm since they close at 9pm.... I wouldn't come back.
google avatar

Brittany D.

Yelp
It was ok. We can't really figure out why people love this place so much. Nothing super special. The beer was ok, no music, not busy. Maybe we came on an off day?
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
This place had a fun vibe to it but was pretty deserted when I walked in at noon this Friday. Parking was a little rough and I had to drive around a bit before I found a free spot on Commerce Street three blocks down. Friendly service. I really enjoyed the Sugave blonde ale- it had really a good balance between maltiness, slight sweetness, and just a bit of hops. I tasted a sip of Instant Guavafication, but it was a little bit too tart for me. They offer 4oz pours for flights, so I might try a flight of some different beers next time.

Yelp
Great place in Deep Ellum for a beer. Inside is spacious with several tables. There are games to play as well. The outside patio is nice. The beer selection is good. A little bit of everything. I particularly liked the rain out IPA. Check them out.
google avatar

Emma B.

Yelp
Nice brewery in the Deep Ellum area to grab a beer and check out the neighbourhood. They serve food too but we only had beer. If your a fan of dark beer my husband really enjoy their Porter, Peter's Porter. They have various board games you can play. Friendly service and most importantly free stickers!!
google avatar

Petulia B.

Yelp
We went in Dallas checking out the aquarium when we decided to get lunch here. It turned out to be a good choice. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service was quick too. We had their charcuterie board and bratwurst pretzel dog while we were there. Both were good, in particular, the bratwurst pretzel dog.
google avatar

Whitney B.

Yelp
Westlake is still shiny amongst the Deep Ellum dirt. Friendly & helpful staff. Good seating and nice view of their brewing facility. We also ordered a soft pretzel. Wow it was so good! The beer cheese was actually pretty good too (not usually my thing). We went during their soft opening and I'm looking forward to going back for the official opening. Definitely give this place a try!
google avatar

Lisa R.

Yelp
Loved the experience! The kind and friendly owner loaded us up with samples as this inexperienced beer drinker found a favorite in the House Cider. I'm still a beer novice but loved the cider and the cool brewery! Also they happen to have some of the best t- shirts around, and now just seeing they offer free YOGA!! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
We went to Westlake Brewing and really enjoyed the visit. The beers and vibe were really good and if we get the opportunity will visit there again.
google avatar

Tara R.

Yelp
Stopped in last night for the first time. I had the Rainout Hazy IPA. I loved it! I even ordered a 4 pack to go. I ordered the higenormous pretzel but after several minutes I was informed they did not have the dough ready. The bartender was friendly, welcoming and encouraged us to sample any beers we wanted to try. I would definitely go back. After looking at the menu, I would try everything on it!

Doug S.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to go, they have a variety of really good beer along with an open, laid back atmosphere. The vibe is relaxed and the servers are all really helpful with suggestions. Highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Marliis S.

Yelp
Not very food beer. Very Average brewery. They have games but that's about it for what that brewery to offer. Gotta make at least decent level beer
google avatar

Connie H.

Yelp
Quiet and good beers. We came a few times during our visit and enjoyed each of them.
google avatar

Tim M.

Yelp
My family and I were taking pictures of our senior for graduation, they saw us taking pictures in front of their building, someone came out offered water and a place to take a break if we were getting too hot. The food was great. Their customer service is through the roof! Extremely nice. there you go Art
google avatar

Suzanne P.

Yelp
Parking sucks! But parking anywhere in Deep Ellum sucks. Super nice staff, especially the sweet, skinny lill thing w long, dark brown hair, Mia. Beer was really good! Hazy was a true hazy beer. Staff was working their a** off on a Saturday evening while they kept maintaining professionalism. Beers are $6 for a 12-16oz pour. Tap room is awesome. Not sure how they do it but it's packed in here and its not too loud. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Martin K.

Yelp
Cool new taproom in Deep Ellum. Good atmosphere and nice staff. Plenty of beer on tap with styles from IPA over Scottish ale to Barleywine. None of them blew me away, but none were bad, pretty straight down the middle. If you're in the area and need a cold one it's a cool place to hang out.
google avatar

Destiny A.

Yelp
Great beer selections and food. Chill atmosphere and they have games which is a plus! The staff is friendly and very welcoming.
google avatar

Gerardo V.

Yelp
Been waiting for this place to open for a while now and I can day it was worth the wait. Now days with so many breweries in the DFW meteoplex, many have below average/mediocre beers just for the heck of it, BUT NOT HERE. Had a flight of Rainout, Super Saison, This Many and the Hefe... and all were Amazing. Specially the Super Saison, it was very well balanced and had the right amount of sweet to it. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of beer (which I enjoyed a lot). There was plenty of seating space. This place just opened, but I'm sure it will eventually become a beer staple in Deep Ellum.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
Plenty of great beers to choose from, friendly staff, clean and tidy with lots of seating. Already made a return visit.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
Came here after the fair to cool off and enjoy a good beer. We got the sampler, pineapple sour, guava, double NE IPA and IPA. We were happy with all of them. My wife loved the sour and I was especially happy about the guava(it was a beer that actually have a TON of guava flavor) but all the beers were great. We will absolutely be back for the beer. On top of that the staff were friendly, attentive and fantastic. Come on by for a beer, you won't be dissipointwd
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
Love Westlake! The craft beer is awesome, Don't Skip Leg Day is one of my favorites. Great vibe, love the dog friendly patio, and they have some pretty darn good food.
google avatar

Alicia V.

Yelp
Another stop our on Dallas brewery tour, we had some tasty flights and some snacks. This brewery was easily Top 2 in our tour.
google avatar

Megan O.

Yelp
Friendly staff and good beer! When we visited there was a food truck available and it looked good as well. I would recommend this brewery if you're in the area!
google avatar

Meredith D.

Yelp
Westlake Brewing Company was awesome! A few friends and I celebrated the pending arrival of our friends' baby boy and the location was perfect for the laid back non-baby shower vide we wanted. The beers were great and the pretzels bites were amazing. I will definitely be back in the future.
google avatar

BJ B.

Yelp
Nice Brewery!!! Brand new,... spacious inside. It was my first time there and enjoyed the experience. The beers that I sampled were pretty good as well. The Biere De Garde and Super Saison was my favorite of the lot. I was a bit underwhelmed with the atmosphere but that didn't ruin the experience. I think the character will evolve and make this a really cool spot if nothing else based on location. Of the breweries in Deep Ellum, it's definitely worth checking out. If you go, try the flight of beers as they had a few small batch beers that were really good. I love going to breweries so was happy to see the small batch ite

Yelp
I went there with a friend over the weekend. Excited since we love craft beer. When we arrived we saw their sign of wearing mask. I understand pandemic, their business, they can make this request. I forgot my mask and was going to go to my car to get it, but we notice other people without, a large group of 30. So we entered, we ordered a beer and was told to put a mask on. I get it your business you have that right. But the looks we received as if we had covid and was treated as if we were going to give it to them. One person said "I'm wearing this for your safety" another was snarky and just said "you need to have a mask" in a stern voice. We made note of the group behind us and said why it was okay, so we can understand, the reply was "they can do what ever they want". Which prompt us to get offended cause we are a darker skin tone. Didn't want to go there but it was just to convenient not to. We were handed mask, which we were happy to put on, but the reasoning and attitude was unnecessary. Their beer is good, but their attitude was not. I try to support the local breweries when I can, but this one, yeah will not get my business again.
google avatar

Sereena J.

Yelp
My friend and I met here for drinks after work! Parking can be a hassle in deep ellum, but there was pretty good meter parking around Westlake at about 5pm. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the warm staff behind the bar! They took us through their core beers and described their seasonals, allowing us to ask questions as they went. I have never ordered an IPA, but I ordered the Rainout Hazy, which is a very approachable and citrusy American IPA. I also liked the taster I got of their Blonder Ale! My friend ordered a flight of four beers, which comes on a round metal tray to take back to your seat. Their taproom is gorgeous with lots of seating! I envisioned groups of people bringing in pizzas or other takeout to accompany their Westlake beers and celebrate birthdays. They also have quite a few games which I'll definitely be using the next few times I'm here.
google avatar

Elizabeth A.

Yelp
Awesome brewery! Not sure why it took me so long to try it. Love the staff, the beer selection, and the ambiance. Definitely recommend starting with a flight - that's how I found the Guavafication! Would have never ordered it if I didn't get the flight.
google avatar

Madelaine M.

Yelp
This place was awesome! So many good beers on draft- and the atmosphere is so nice inside and outside. We sat on the stools by the front- they had their big garage doors opened- and people watched while we had the hugenormous pretzel (amazing by the way- get the beer cheese!) but the best part of the visit was definitely the young gentleman bartender (i so wish i could remember his name). He was SO nice- giving recommendations based on beer we liked, offering us tasters- and he even came out and gave us some tasters of a beer while we were eating- because it paired with the pretzel so well (i think it was a stout that they use to make the beer cheese). Anyways, great experience! Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
The guys working the var were super friendly and helpful. Really good vibe in this place
google avatar

Lacey J.

Yelp
If you're looking for some of the best draft beer, cool down to earth quality people, a sense of community, great food, AMAZING yoga on Saturday mornings, and so much more - this is the place! I love WL and will always hold a place for this brewery in my heart.
google avatar

Olivia M.

Yelp
Best craft beer in Dallas. Friendly atmosphere with ample events throughout the week from yoga, trivia, to video game nights or social runs. Also a Dog friendly patio!!
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
Rey "Captain" and Dj make you feel so at home. They are so easy to talk too. They have such a wonderful selection of beers even including sour which happens to be my favorite. Art is the owner and introduces himself to the guests. He is super sweet and knows what he's doing when it comes to beers. He is the first in his family to do brewing yet strives with ease. My first time being here will continue. This is OUR NEW FAVORITE BREWERY. We will be back. Even their food made by Dj is wonderful. Holy cow. This place needs more business. You WILL be back.

Kalli L.

Yelp
Excellent service! Bartender had a great attitude, chill ambiance, flatbread was flavorful! Will definitely return for Tuesday Music Bingo night.
google avatar

Drew W.

Yelp
Had a great time at Westlake last Saturday. Beers were great and the location had a great laid-back atmosphere. All of the staff were friendly and courteous as well. Will def be back!
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
Great service, helped us wIth recommendations, lots to do, open and airy-perfect for a warm evening! Tried a flight, favorite was the Guava Power! Highly recommend
google avatar

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Pre covid review: Just because you put fruit in something, does not mean you can call it sour. I was told it use to be less sour, so if I was looking for that, be warned. Well, it wasn't sour in March 2020, so I hope they fix it by the time this is posted....
