Westminster Hall

We’ve had the privilege of visiting Westminster Hall multiple times—both for functions and events and, most memorably, to pay our respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her Lying-in-State. Each visit has left us in awe of the sheer history and significance of this remarkable hall. As the oldest surviving part of the Palace of Westminster, dating back to 1097, Westminster Hall has witnessed over 900 years of British history. It has hosted everything from royal banquets and coronation feasts to the trials of historic figures like Sir Thomas More and King Charles I. Walking beneath its incredible hammer-beam ceiling, one of the largest medieval timber roofs in Europe, you can almost feel the weight of history surrounding you. During the Queen’s funeral, the hall took on an even more solemn and poignant atmosphere. Standing in line to pay our respects, we were struck by the grandeur and timelessness of the space, knowing that generations before us had stood in the very same place for moments of national mourning and remembrance. For those visiting today, Westminster Hall is part of the Houses of Parliament tour, which we highly recommend. Seeing the hall as part of a guided tour gives a deeper understanding of its role in British democracy and history. This building is beautiful. There are free tours when the hall isn’t being used and Graham the guide was fabulous. The history of the space is fascinating. The view from the balcony is spectacular. The hall is beautiful and has the second largest unsupported dome in the world. Under the building is a cafe. A very good experience.

Westminster Hall is the oldest part of the Houses of Parliament, the hall’s stunning medieval architecture, with its impressive timber roof, is breathtaking. Walking through, you can almost feel the centuries of historical events that have taken place here, from royal ceremonies to significant political moments. The atmosphere inside is both grand and serene, with a real sense of the past lingering in the air.

Went for concert by candle light, the place was easy to find, friendly and helpful staffs. The seats however were not put in place with tall people in mind, they were so closed together, the person sitting in front, it was though they were sitting on your lap.

Impressive Historic Hall with an amazing wooden roof. It is quite a plain hall but it has hosted so many historic moments that have shaped the country and influenced others across the World. Our guide was excellent. Thank you for bringing it all to life for us.

Wow, Just wow. Thank you to our tour guide Nick. Fountain of knowledge. When checking it the person informed me he is one of the best we have. Keeps things on track. I had a ticked for PMQs, he also told me where to stand to watch the speaker walk in. The best spot in the whole place. With a nod from the Rt Hon Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP. Made my whole day.

Great venue, nice acoustics and a decent view from zone c (upstairs, centre). Sea the City String Ensemble covering Coldplay songs by candlelight. Very good indeed, although they were only on for an hour.

We saw this beauty while on our bus tour. I didn’t get to go inside. Wish I had but was time constricted. If you have a chance check it out!
