Andy’s Pizza Expands to Foggy Bottom — And More Openings | Eater DC

"I tried Westover Taco, Scott Parker’s Baja California–influenced concept, and liked the extensive taco menu featuring proteins like chicken, pork, steak, and fish, complemented by lots of agave‑forward cocktails including a classic margarita, a cucumber‑jalapeño paloma, and a tequila colada made with coconut water." - Tierney Plumb

I stopped by this place to purchase just a bowl of queso to go. When I received my order and brought it home, much to my surprise, the $8.00 bowl was only 3-4 ounces (in a small container) with a small bag of stale tortilla chips. The bright side of this review is that queso was the only thing I ordered. Would I ever patronize this place again or recommend it to friends or family, as Kevin McAllister on Home Alone once said, “I don’t think so!”

We went for dinner last night and had a great experience. The food was excellent highly recommend the Birria Tacos 🌮, they were absolutely delicious. The service was very good; the staff was caring and attentive, making sure all our needs were met. If you’re a sports fan, this place also has TV screens and broadcasts football games, which is a nice bonus.

I visited Westover Tacos with my family yesterday. The hostess wasn't very friendly and didn't seem happy to be there. However, our waiter was very kind and attentive. We ordered queso and tacos- the queso was thick and flavorful, but not very hot. The tacos were okay; the vegan or veggie taco was surprisingly good, but the chicken taco was a bit soupy. I wouldn't be returning for the tacos, but their breakfast menu looks interesting and worth trying next time. I appreciated their Tuesday taco night deal and the government employee discount. Plus, they had Halloween candy at the door, which was a nice touch. The music was also just a bit loud for my liking.

The food was just okay. Personally I felt that they took shortcuts that effected the taste. Only toasting one side of each tortilla, no limes added with the tacos, no sauce with the kids enchilada, no cream with the platanos. The meat in the tacos tasted fine, I’ve had better. The tortillas over powered the flavor they either need to get smaller tortillas or give more meat. For the price I can get better more authentic meat filed tacos for less. The guacamole had a bitter taste to it but it was a generous serving. The pineapple aqua Fresca is like a sparkling water with less fizz. We like the open air seating area unfortunately those are only high top seats so we sat in the half booths. The table was small but had all the essentials all at the table. And they played decent music. Ordering is self serve by scanning a QR code. Also, worth mentioning the water taste like unfiltered sink water, and the cook at the time of our visit used the restroom without washing hands then saw us sitting right next to the exit and went back in to wash his hands. First and last time here.

I had the pleasure of trying Westover Taco for brunch today. OMG the chicken and waffles were so good. I got the spicy version. Everything we had was delicious, but I can’t stop thinking about the spicy chicken and Belgian waffle. Their brunch menu has a lot of options. My husband enjoyed the Chilaquiles (I think I spelled that right.) Their house margaritas were on point. The service was excellent! Nick helped me find the perfect foods. If we lived closer, we would certainly be regulars. I can’t wait to visit again.

Google
Westover Taco is a cozy, local favorite with a laid-back vibe. The tacos are fresh, flavorful, and nicely portioned — simple but made with care. The ingredients taste clean, and the tortillas have that perfect texture. Friendly service, chill atmosphere, and food that feels honest and satisfying. A great neighborhood spot for easy, tasty bites.

Google
It's a bit too trendy by half but since taking over from The Forest Inn ... it's come a long ways. The open 'garage' windows are great. The small plate tacos? Perfectly good. Sure I think the bartender, Ceaser, is an Arlington legend -- but there is still a lot to like in this family- (and kid-) friendly locale. There is a lot to recommend.

Google
This place is beautiful and the team members are great! I was warmly greeted as soon as I came in.The food is delicious and authentic. I had the carne asada and shrimp tacos. I also had all the sauces including guacamole and it was all delicious. I will be coming back for sure.

Yelp
I haven't even eaten here yet. Just submitted my order. I just think the owner, Sarah, is rad AF cuz she stood up to this troll ~1 month ago. They didn't even have the cajones to put their face on the profile. This is b/c that person is an asshole. Don't worry, if it's not awesome, I'll plainly And CONCISELY state why.

Yelp
Another Scott Parker miss. Scott Parker is what happens when you find concepts suck all the soul out of it then infuse it with broniness and high is what a bro thinks things taste like and serve drinks that are overpriced. My wife and I came super hungry, and we got 6 tacos. Each one worse than the other, it takes a lot of guts to put Al Pastor on the menu. I think the chef is confused because the pork tasted like Korean Jayuk Bokem. The Birria taco is well it looks like one. The ceviche is was like a vinegary salsa with some shrimp. I give it 2 instead of 1 star because it's a neighborhood local restaurant. The truth is this place in any other city other than Arlington dies. Save your money drive a little further to ballston and hit up the taco place there, if you live on the neighborhood and want a place to come grab some drinks and don't care about the food this is your spot. Scott Parker brands the place you go to get the soulless version of things you love.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for a really good brunch, this is the perfect place to go to. The breakfast bowl is really good and flavorful. I love the Carne Asada. The tacos are also really good. I enjoyed the Paloma and the mango margarita. This ceviche was my absolute favorite. Customer service was good and parking was available around the building.

Yelp
Best fish taco I have ever eaten. EVER. Can't believe I've lived in Arlington for years and never stopped by. On Washington it is a small door, so I did not even know it was there. Getting two tacos was a super fast experience (as it should be) with a really nice man at the counter. The clasico was very good, the fish was amazing. They have low top and high top tables and a bar. I parked on Washington but they have another entrance, not sure how to get to it but it exists. It was all families when I dropped in, so I think it's a great place to bring a family and the kids. It is Lent, and I will be back soon for more fish tacos.

Yelp
Another trip here and another amazing experience. Westover is a cute neighborhood with a nice community. This restaurant is super casual and has such a friendly vibe. Come in, order through the QR codes, and sit either along the bar or at the high tables next to the windows. Smaller table seating for families too! Food comes out fast and is great quality. Love the margaritas as well!

Yelp
LOCATION AND PROCESS Tried out our new neighborhood joint for Saturday lunch -- and loved it! We walked in on the Wash. Blvd. side (love the little blue vertical neon strip at the door) but decided to sit in the bar area at the back of the restaurant -- we liked the nice open space. You seat yourself and place your order through the QR code at each table, and then close out and pay/tip again through the QR code when you are done. The order is kept open until you close it, in case you want to add something (another drink, etc.) to your original order. Staff was very welcoming and offered to talk us through the ordering process, but we figured it out pretty easily -- gotta say it is quite efficient! LOTS of convenient free parking in front and behind restaurant (but we walked). FOOD Guac was yummy -- nice crunchy chips too. Loved the variety (and very fair price) of tacos. At the table we had pork, fish, shrimp and beef. We really liked that each protein featured very unique toppings from the other -- it is NOT a cookie-cutter topping they put on everything. Also appreciated that we could get any taco with either a crunchy corn shell or soft corn or soft flour tortilla. And the crunchy corn is their soft corn tortillas fried up fresh -- not some store-bought shell. There are three types of hot sauce on every table, but we really enjoyed how each item was seasoned on its own. OVERALL Great addition to the neighborhood -- very nice staff. We'll be back soon!

Yelp
What an amazing place where you actually will feel comfortable and at peace enjoying FANTASTIC tacos, wings, and margaritas! Our family's time there today was all the better because of the ultra professional staff, recommendations, and care. If you're lucky, Jessica will take care of you and make you feel welcome and special -like we felt! We cannot wait to go back!! BRAVO #WestoverArlVa

Yelp
I'm not from town , but I work in the area now . Westover Taco is my go to local bar for authentic Mexican food / tacos and real life hospitality. come alone or with - group, you won't be disappointed . I loved the premium margarita and carne asada tacos with their homemade corn tortillas. if you want the upscale food and for a local price , and warm environment.. you cannot go wrong ! I'm a new regular, and Im proud of It! this is your neighborhood vibe with the downtown menu ! The service is attentive and friendly. Cesar and Nick were amazing ! watched them greet regulars with their drinks , and new customers like family. I sat at the bar by myself on business, and left wanting to stay another day . Im a big fan! Great Food, great drinks , no BS. check It out!!

Yelp
Important note - you will not see the front of Westover Taco when driving past 'downtown' Westover. It is in the middle of the shopping center next to ice cream shop. They have additional parking in the back of the shopping center. We have been 3 times so far and we will return frequently. They have a very efficient ordering process - you grab a table and order from your phone - very easy. Food/drinks are then brought out extremely quickly to your table. This makes for a quick meal - nice work Westover Taco. The tacos are delicious - we have tried most on the menu - our top choices are the Chorizo and Pescado. The margaritas are solid as well.

Yelp
Yum! Love this place- delicious traditional and not-so- traditional tacos (smashburger taco?!) and other Mexican yummyness in a bright, airy and inviting space. The margaritas are fabulous too! Staff are always courteous and helpful, and I love the decor. Chef's kiss for Westover Taco!

Yelp
We had the nachos which were great. Really loved the queso. The taco Al pastor was good. Lots of pineapple. The bean and cheese burrito was huge. Grapefruit Paloma and spicy margarita were tasty and priced ok. Debate within my group over whether it was better than Taco Bamba. It's definitely at least pretty even. Food came out quickly. Look forward to going when it's warm out and they can open the windows.

Yelp
I live nearby and waited for them to open at last. I went in and had bland tacos and too mild salsa with chips. Chorizo tacos-meat was ok but bits of greens were skimpy. Corn tortillas were ok. No way to add anything other than their style-almost institutional. It's NOT street tacos - more of a hybrid street/Hilton style. The chips were very good but the salsa was way too tame. I wish they were more adventurous. The service was fine. You scan the table's QR code and order. I had lemonade. They seem to have beer and wine, even cocktails. The place is sparkling clean and well lit. Good seating, booths and intimate tables. Interesting graphics/art. Stylish. Maybe excessively focused on sterility? I would have gone to 4 or 5 if there was access to add bits of avacado, cilantro, chilis, onions, lime wedge or two, etc. to my taste. Albeit that would have been too "streety" and a bit messy.

Jeff W.

Yelp
Hate to even give such a great review for fear of it getting too busy but we love Westover Taco! Everything made in house, corn tortillas might be best in town. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable (especially Caesar), really good margaritas and fun vibe. You order from your phone, food comes out fast and hot. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Good American Mexican basics. A little pricey for what you get but you pay for location in westover. Everything was tasty and fresh. Good seating options for different sized groups.

Yelp
Much excitement in the Westover neighborhood ensued with the grand opening of a new taqueria right next to Walgreen's. The ambiance in the cozy space once occupied by a dive bar has been transformed into a sleek, modern eatery and bar. The unfinished brick wall with light wooden furniture lends an airy atmosphere to the dining area. The menu features traditional Mexican street-style tacos. The single corn tortillas hold a good proportion of meat and vegetables, though the option to add more cilantro and chopped onions as well as a squeeze of lime plus different salsa options would have been a welcome and authentic addition. The pollo tinga (seasoned chicken breast) was very well seasoned; the carnitas was soft and juicy; the camaron (shrimp) was just a little too much mayo; and the carne asada was smoky and savory. The hours will make this a great hangout place for the neighborhood, though it does not quite give La Chiquita Tacos y Tortas in Columbia Pike a run for its money in terms of authenticity and the curated street food menu. Nevertheless, for the Westover and north Arlington community, this is a worthy addition to the Mexican eateries in the area. Friendly and talkative servers seem to have things under control even after less than a week after the grand opening.

Yelp
The food is authentic and flavorful! Best corn tortillas I've ever had, made from scratch daily by a Honduran woman. Best pinto beans also! You can taste that they've been made with pork. So much flavor! Rice is also super flavorful! Chips are really good. Clearly freshly made!

Alexa R.

Yelp
Although it wasn't the easiest place to spot from the street, once you enter you'll be immediately welcomed by good vibes. There's not many late-night places in the area, so the fact that this place stays open late is so appreciated. You order food through a QR code on your phone, but the staff are still present and frequently checked in on us, so the service was awesome throughout our whole meal. We shared the nachos which were amazing, and they come with guac on top AND salsa on the side in addition to all the other usual toppings, and they were delicious. We also split the churro donuts which are served with ice cream from the ice cream shop next door (which is so cute), and they were incredible as well, with dulce de leche and chocolate sauces on top. Overall, really solid food, vibey music playing, and very attentive staff. 10/10!!

Yelp
What an amazing little find!! Great tacos and service!! Do yourself a favor and go! Street corn dip and green salsa fantastic

Yelp
Chill location, good music, good service and great food! $2 off margaritas on Mondays, $3 tacos on Tuesdays and free chips and salsa on Weds!

Yelp
Excellent neighborhood restaurant! Love the vibe, tacos, and margaritas!! Personally, I like the QR Code ordering system. The service is friendly and fast.

Yelp
Plenty of parking, long bar with lots of tables, order using QR code. Friendly & prompt service. Yummy homemade salsa & chips. Mix & match tacos. Fish, shrimp, beef, pork and veggie. All tasty, spilling over with ingredients and flavor. Margaritas are good, not too strong; they go down easy. Affordable. We will be back.

Shawn R.

Yelp
Had Westover Taco catering at a dinner party and the food was great. We got el pastor, chicken, beef tacos. With beans and rice, guacamole, salsa queso, and homemade chips. The entire dinner was delicious. Do not miss this place the food is worth the trip. Next time we are going to the restaurant.

Yelp
Such a welcome addition to the Westover neighborhood! Tacos are delish - really love the shrimp. I like the combo of QR code ordering combined with attentive staff who make sure everything is ok and keep water glasses filled, etc. The white queso is A++ and the fried plantains were a delicious treat. The churro dessert with ice cream from the famous Toby's next door is awesome! Best of all, love the vibe they've created in that unique space.

Madison S.

Yelp
As a local I had high hopes for this establishment and want it to succeed - I was very underwhelmed by the food. Corn tortillas were great and guacamole was also good. However the al pastor taco was very fatty and severely under-salted. Also the rice was like a paste which would be easily fixed by rinsing the rice before cooking it. Members of my party said the vegetarian taco was good, but others complained that their food came out cold. The staff was friendly and I really liked the openness of the space. Again, I'm rooting for this restaurant. many of the changes to the food are easy fixes that would make the end product so much better.

Virginie C.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience at Westover Taco. The food and margaritas are delicious and the service warm and friendly. It has become our go to place for a friendly atmosphere and great tacos! We received exceptional service from our waitress when we came in on August 2 Thank you!

Yelp
I give Westover Taco 5 stars with this caveat: in Texas, where I'm from, they'd get a solid 3.75 stars, but in NOVA, the bar is set considerably lower. So with that in mind, I'll go into my review that's clearly set on a curve. First and foremost, the corn tortillas were good -- tasted homemade and not from some bagged stack of rubbery discs. I stopped here on a whim while walking back to my car from the hardware store, so I decided to walk in for a quick sampling. Got a carne Asada and a Camaron taco. Both well seasoned. Could've done without the seasoned mayonnaise squirt, but it wasn't drenched so I didn't mind it. I will definitely be back with others to further explore the menu. The service and atmosphere were good. Very nice well-stocked bar. One small nitpick: my tacos were a little closer to room temperature than I would've liked, but no biggie. Give them a try!

Chris W.

Yelp
We have been to Westover Taco several times since it opened. We really liked each item we tried. The combination of smaller portions at a reasonable price allows more opportunities to sample multiple tastes at a meal and not break the bank. I'm an older guy, but easily ordered using the QR codes. Their use enabled quick service when ordering. The environment was upbeat with high energy. Family friendly.

Sutton R.

Yelp
The owners have done a fantastic job taking feedback from the neighborhood and improving the restaurant from their initial launch. We came when they first opened, and the food and service is much better from our first visit. Food was great, drinks were delicious, service very attentive and kind. We will certainly be back!

Ramsay T.

Yelp
This place is outrageously expensive. I went with my wife last night for the first time. For what I spent at Westover Tacos, I could have had a steak and a martini at the Palm. The food was cold and very bland. I do not recommend going to Westover Tacos.

David J.

Yelp
Recently opened. Super friendly staff, quick but patient service, excellent tacos and margaritas. Glad to have a new joint in the neighborhood and look forward to supporting the business.

John Q.

Yelp
I would not recommend this place right now. The food lacked seasoning and was very bland. It was expensive, but the real problem was the food not being tasty. I hope they make changes to improve, it can't be easy starting a new restaurant and a good taco place at the location would be nice. They are new, and maybe need some time to get it right.

Richard R.

Yelp
Overall, we were somewhat disappointed. The food had good flavor, but the chips were stale, tbe salsa was supposed to be served warm (it wasn't), the tacos themselves were meh. The chicken was best, the Carne assada was ok, and the shrimp had NO flavor. Also, the beer was flat (not necessarily their fault if they aren't serving enough). Will try them again, but with lowered expectations.
