Open since 1981 in a building that dates back to the 1920s, the Westport Flea Market is famous for its juicy, hand-ground burgers and quirky, memorabilia-filled décor. The venue’s roots in the Westport neighborhood’s colorful past have earned it repeated mentions in local food roundups, including Feast Magazine and The Pitch. With live music, pool tables, and a rotating cast of regulars, it’s a living slice of Kansas City’s communal dining culture.

Solid spot for a casual meal with a fun, quirky atmosphere. The interior is unique and even features a purple dinosaur ride {Dino from The Flintstones!}. While the self-serve condiment bar wasn't for me, the food was good and satisfied the craving. I personally wouldn't say it's the best burger in Kansas City, but it's a great place to stop for a no-frills bite to eat.

Google
CASH ONLY! There is an ATM inside that charges a fee. I don’t think there’s a sign outside that states this. If there is, I missed it. It does say it on the menu but kind of small in the corner. The server did tell us when we tried to pay for our drinks with card. A little inconvenient, but I guess that’s on me for being not that observant. Now to the good part. Food was delicious. Fries were fresh and crispy. My turkey club was filled and evenly layered, bacon was crispy. My friend enjoyed her burger and said it was juicy and good flavor. You do order your food at the bar counter and then pick it up when they call your name. Several of the games were out of order, but there were still several others to choose from.

Stopped in to this old favorite on a whim and we got some fries with cheese sauce, fried pickles with Ranch, and the best onion rings I’ve ever had in my life. Be aware that they only take cash. Bring cash with you because the ATM charges like $3.50 for an accidental balance inquiry and another $3.50 for a withdrawal. We did not have time to stick around and play games, but my entire family will be back! Also, check the time because you have to be 21 to get in after a certain time. Great vibe.

Stopped in for dinner with my husband. I forgot what a gem this place is! A delicious burger and fries for only $11! You can't even buy a horrible burger and fries at McDs for that! We placed our order at the counter and the lady there was very nice. We sat down and waited for our food. We ordered the fried pickles and they were perfect! The pickles weren't slimy like some places make and they were easy to bite through without the whole pickle sliding out. The breading was also nicely flavored and fried to a perfect crisp! We both ordered a burger with pepper jack cheese and grilled onions cooked medium. I got curly fries and he got onion rings. Our burgers were both cooked to perfection and the meat tasted so good and fresh. The fries and onion rings were good too, but seemed like they were sitting while our burgers cooked since they were barely warm. We dressed our burgers ourselves with all of the condiments and toppings available in the bar next to the pick up window. I hadn't been here since covid and wasn't sure if they were still a cash only business, I could not find an answer on their website either. They do offer an ATM in the restaurant since they are still cash only. They have some really good specials too! I'd suggest coming early for a special day since Sundays are half off burgers and alcohol starting at 8pm and by 730pm that place was getting packed. We did have to walk up to the bar to order drinks since the server never asked us or made herself available for us to ask her for drinks. That was the only negative we experienced. We ordered a couple of drinks and they were delicious and a great size.

Google
Delicious burgers and fries for sure! We enjoyed our lunch here. The layout/concept is different, but I feel that it works well for the vibe. Make sure to bring cash, since it’s cash only. You order food at the bar and then order the drinks with the wait staff at your table.

Google
The burgers and mozzarella wedges are so good and drinks are pretty reasonably priced. Service was great, our waitress was very funny. I’ve always had a great experience here.

Google
Best burgers in KC, hands down! Daily specials and their 1/2 price entire menu happy hour is a win/win. Come hungry! You won't be disappointed. CASH ONLY

Google
This was my first visit from Massachusetts and by far this was the best burger I have ever had. It was cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful. I may be ruined for burgers back home. Will definitely visit again when I return.

Yelp
A really interesting place to get a burger in KC. This dark restaurant has a bunch of TVs with sports on and even has an arcade on the side. You order at the bar and then pick your burger up at the window to the right. The burger is super huge and really tasty. I love the toppings bar that allows you to add whatever you want. The fries are a little underwhelming but they were ok. The service was interesting as everyone seemed annoyed. The bar had a good line of local and other beers on tap. The bar also looked well equipped for other types of drinks. Be sure to come here with cash as they don't do card. Also, there is a big lot on the side of the building so this is a much easier part of Westport to park.

Yelp
I don't think there's really much I can say that dozens haven't already said. In my opinion, best burgers in the city. I don't know HOW they're so good, they're certainly nothing fancy, but they just are. I love that they have the topping bar so that I don't have to just guess that they'll get "extra tomatoes" right. The onion rings are great, so are the cheese fries. It's honestly a dive bar kind of place, but to be frank, I kind of love that. Just keep in mind they only accept cash. This place is pretty much never a bad idea.

Yelp
Burger was just okay. After all the hype, we expected them to be amazing. Service was mediocre and very bizarre that you have to order at the counter but drinks from your table. Ambiance was not great either. Felt dirty, especially tables and chairs - needed to be wipe and cleaned. They had live music too, which was fun, but way too loud - we weren't even close to musicians and we could barely hear each other. Not sure I'd come back.

Frank C.

Yelp
Stopped by the Flea Market today with my wife and two good friends. We each had a burger and a couple of beers. Food was really good. Thick great tasting burgers... you add the extra stuff like tomatoes, onions, pickles, lettuce, etc. Our waitress, Amanda, took great care of us. We've been going there for perhaps 20 years... Thanks! we'll be back

Yelp
The evening that we dined at WFM, was the night before the "big game". The had a $3.00 mini burger special and were extremely busy. Our appetizer came out hot and was delicious but our burgers and fries were cold, especially the fries. The fries also tasted terrible and lacked flavor. Despite the crowd, the beverage table service was friendly and efficient. Although this visit wasn't a touchdown, we will try it again perhaps on a less crowded time and/or a night when they have live music.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
The burgers are great homemade curly fries the burger is at least a inch thick if you've ever been here before you know it's a historic place I incurage you to look up the history! It's a staple in Westport.

Yelp
By far the best burger I've ever eaten in a restaurant. I got the flea market burger 10oz and it was juicy with crispy edges. They have a toppings bar to add on the garden. This place is CASH only and do be they weird guy, ok it was me, that couldnt figure why the server was wanting to cash me out when I paid when ordering. Drinks are ordered and paid for at the table separately from any food that you order and pay for at the bar.
google avatar

Yelp
There are signs all over the building advertising their burger as the 'Best in Kansas City' for 30+ years, but this couldn't be further from the truth. I've now been here twice and they only way that this burger could have been rated the best in town is if it was only competing against places like McDonald's, or if the judges of the contest worked for Westport Flea Market. It wasn't that the burger was bad, but it absolutely is NOT the best in town because it was just okay. Nothing special. Then, when you add in the experience, I'd question any reason to ever go back. I didn't realize that Westport Flea Market was a cash-only business, which is strange since most establishments are going the opposite route to be non-cash since a lot of people don't carry cash anymore. I felt like the cashier was judging me for not already knowing that I needed cash. I was directed to an ATM they had on the premises that didn't work. So, I had to leave to get cash and come back. Plus, I had to order my burger and my soda at two different registers since they don't have the ability to ring them up together. Long story short, a basic burger that is NOT the best in town and a hassle to even order it equals a customer that likely won't be back. You can see more of our experience on our YouTube travel channel: https://youtu.be/JTMDUGmk8Vg

Yelp
This business has been around for as long as I have lived in KC and it hasn't changed much which is nice to see. We came here twice to watch the chief game and on my birthday so three times most recently. They have decent specials if you can time it right and lots of fun eclectic decor. The staff is laid back and friendly while working hard to get your orders quickly. It's a very casual and cool environment AND they still serve very solid burgers! We have always been pleased with the food and service.

Angie P.

Yelp
Celebrated some birthdays here after a night of karaoke at Offkey. Everyone was so nice! Food was delicious. Perfect location to end the night.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Kendra is incredible! She never leaves you empty handed. She can recommend a drink for anybody, no matter the challenge. If you get her as a server, you're blessed.

Yelp
A childhood favorite and staple in Kansas City for over 30 years. Some of the juiciest burgers in the metro and they always have curly fries. A must stop in the summer with the kids especially with the arcade games to burn off some energy. Daily specials and kids eat FREE Monday nights with an adult meal purchase. Don't forget they are CASH ONLY.
google avatar

Ife W.

Yelp
It's kinda dark inside, but I do enjoy the vintage games. The wait for the burgers was pretty long and I think KC Smoke has better burgers.

Yelp
I stayed at the hotel next door and decided to walk over and grab dinner. The side of the building is painted claiming they were voted best burgers in town. When I walked in I wasn't greeted or even acknowledged. I looked at the menu and walked to the bar to place my order. The lady standing at the register just looked at me. So I said 'can I place an order?' She takes my order and gives me a total. I go to hand her my card and she says they are cash only. I ask if they have an ATm and she says yes over there and just waves her hand. I should have left at this point but really didn't feel like finding somewhere else to get food. I get cash from the ATM and when I go back to the register there is now a guy waiting to cash me out. I sit down to wait for my food and I hear my name being called over an intercom type of thing. I go back to the bar and am told that pick up is down a couple of steps at a window. Next to the window is a toppings bar where you can add veggies, mayo, mustard, etc to your burger. I took my food to my room and I can say the burger was just ok. I can tell it's a local favorite type of place but they could use better signage or explanations as new customers come in. I won't be back but if you want an ok burger with worse service go ahead and give them a try.

Yelp
Lived on the Plaza for many years, some time ago and a frequent to Westport back in the day. Never came here and finally did today. I get why people like it. Burger was extremely tasty and was able to dress my burger to my liking with their burger bar for toppings. They are big sandwiches too so I split mine with my husband and it was plenty to eat. He had onion rings as a side and they looked and tasted great. While I had the coleslaw and it was not great, kinda mushy and stringy. All cost about $20 with Iced Teas to drink. Fun place if you like video games, basketball hoop, foosball and pool table(s). They only take cash which is just odd since I never have cash with me anymore but there's an ATM. It's somewhat of an inconvenient thing but it's fine I guess. Now I can say I've been there done that.
google avatar

Yelp
First thing to know this resturant is cash only. I will add the food is not overly expensive so it's not too bad. Additionally, you must place your food order at the bar (see picture). As far as the atmosphere, it's a bar and grill so it's not the ritz but it's pretty good. I was concerned about the cleanliness of the men's room, as it seemed it had not been cleaned in quite a while. Ok back to the food. Once you put in your order, they will call you to come and get your food. I had the flea market burger which was 10 oz. and pretty tasty. These are thick burgers so if you like this style of burger (like me) they're perfect. The kitchen cooked my burger to perfection. However be warned they do not season the burgers as to allow the customer to choose the amount to season. Might be a smart plan. Overall, pretty good food, service is limited.

Yelp
We stumbled on to this must try by chance. We were staying at the Hotel across the parking lot. What a fun place. Food was good, I don't eat burgers do I had the chicken Panini with a salad. I did receive curly fries, but no problem the just made me a salad & told me to enjoy the fries. Just to note CASH ONLY. Prices are reasonable & they have a cash machine available. Order from the bar & drinks are ordered at the table by a server. Service was great & they have interest games everywhere. Fun for every one of all ages. Our drink server Bailey was great.

Yelp
Very welcoming and relaxed setting to go with the standard American fare cooked to order and to perfection! Very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff. Big thanks especially to Rachel and Nadine who went above and beyond to provide exceptional service and laughs that made my fiancé, perhaps flatulate and or keel over and with a deep belly laugh

Yelp
Smashburger on 119th and Blackbob had only two staff members working and an hour wait to place an order, so we headed down the highway to Westport Flea Market. Hubby has been before but it was my first time visiting. Here is my experience: Location: 8/10 The name says it all. Located in the heart of Westport, this dive has been featured on Food Network. We opted to sit on the patio, which is perfect for people watching. Cash Only: Please keep this in mind before coming! They have an ATM but beware, they charge $2.75. Patience is a Virtue: The food is made to order so you will definitely wait for your meal. This can be a good thing or a bad thing.... Customer Service: 5/10 The lady and bartender taking the order were super kind and welcoming. We had to wait longer than normal for another server to come out and get our drink order, and when the young man came out, he started to walk past us before he made eye contact with my husband. A group of young men joined the patio and he was riding their coattails. He was good about frequently coming out to check on them but not us. I think he knew the group, which was an influence to him. Not a good first impression. Let's Be Clean: -10/10 A cook who came out on the patio for a break was wearing gloves and touching the fence, his cell phone and door knobs. Not a good look. From the kitchen to outside and back inside again, the amount of surfaces he touched is not sanitary. This immediately made me very nervous about food safety. Luckily, hubby followed him in to "check on the food" and thankfully, he was changing his gloves! Whew. Food: 3/10 Though it was lengthy wait, we were able to indulge in the first meal of the day. (2:30pm!) I ordered the Westport Mini with a sub of onion rings. Hubby got the famous Westport Flea Market burger and fries. The flavor of the food was spot on and for our meal, it was $27 bucks and some change. Definitely more affordable than other places we eat. However, my burger was not thoroughly cooked and was pretty pink toward the middle of the burger. After several bites into the burger, this was a huge disappointment. The onion rings were perfectly cooked though. Overall: 4.5/10: This was a disappointing experience. The vibe is cool but the burger was way undercooked. I think "KC's best burger" is a bit of a stretch. It was solid for sure. It was not a good look that the cooks kept coming out to the patio for breaks, which meant the kitchen was often unattended. This explains the longer than normal wait times for food and why my burger was undercooked. Shoutout to the bartender/manager who chopped it up with us and made sure we were doing alright. I'm not saying this visit was a dealbreaker, but it may be some time before we visit again.
google avatar

Mike J.

Yelp
We went in early on a Sunday after visiting Union Station holiday lights. Hamburgers are still the best in town. Onion rings are a must add. You do have to pay cash so plan ahead. They do have an ATM if you need it. Prices are reasonable.

Yelp
Checked this place out due to recommendations from a friend and I loved the atmosphere. Pinball machines, ski ball do I really need to say more? Be sure to have cash, they don't take cards. Also you order food at the counter, but drinks from the waitress who brings the food. The food was average and what I would expect from a bar. The burger was pretty good (average), greasy and something that seems like a hamburger patty was grabbed from a freezer thrown on the grill add a few things and done. The wings however were inconsistent, two were good and then on my third wing, bit into it to find the middle cold. That was the end of the meal, undercooked chicken not a thing I mess with. I'll be back for the environment and drink selection at night. Not sure I'm ordering food the next time around.
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon on the recommendation of a friend who knows I love my beef. I ordered the famous Flea Market Burger, which comes in 10oz and 5oz sizes. I got the 10oz... duh. Burgers are made to order with locally-sourced ground chuck. I added cheese, and a condiment bar is available for toppings. Curly fries come with it for free, or you can up-charge for premium sides. This is a really good burger--the quality is in the meat. I could make the same at home but when I don't, or want to meet friends without greasing up my own kitchen, I'll be back for more. I'm excited to try other items on the menu-though it will be hard to resist another burger. All the prices seem so reasonable. Cash only! You weave your way through the dining area to the bar, where you order at the counter and then find a seat. Then a server comes and takes your drink order. The vibe is so early 80s retro. Love the pinball and pool table and that old no-frills diner feel!

Alax S.

Yelp
The food was delicious; you have to put condiments on separately and order drinks separately at the bar as well. Service was good, I only interacted with them when ordered. Indoor/ outdoor seating.
google avatar

Eve S.

Yelp
The food was great! I had a burger and fries and it was cooked to order. Very tasty. Drinks service was super slow and we went dry a couple of times. Didn't play any games but could have if we wanted as it wasn't too busy.
google avatar

Ashley F.

Yelp
This place is great if you want to have your burger moo back at you. My burger, as you can see in the pictures, was barely cooked at all, had a cool center, and made my bread so soggy my bread was falling apart and disintegrating. The fries and onion rings were old and cold. The soda was so watered down the ice only made it worse. The service was less than desirable. The server took about 10 minutes to greet us and bring us our drink order, and then picked up her money and tip while we were still eating. Granted, it has been a while since I have been there but this is unacceptable. I heard another lady talking about the bun on her burger before we left. Imagine visiting from out of town and being told this is one of Kansas City's best burger joints. Would you want to eat here?
google avatar

Serena K.

Yelp
Great food! Burger is the best in town. Nadine gave us great service. Highly recommend chill spot to hang out at

Nicholas A.

Yelp
Paid 20$ for a burger and fries, definitely not worth the money. Bottom of the bun was falling apart from so much grease it was not even consumable. The older lady at the front was very nice that's about the only good thing I can say about this place

Max L.

Yelp
Have ordered delivery numerous times. most recent time, ordered two topspin dip sandwiches and was shorted the au jus on both, and also they didn't have their normal great onion rings but instead threw in some garbage frozen ones. Wouldn't have ordered if I had known they'd pull this crap, and won't be getting their food again.
google avatar

Curtis U.

Yelp
Not sure how this place got voted best burger it was just ok. And it is cash only. My bartender was very good.
google avatar

Charley B.

Yelp
I don't know what happened, but The Flea isn't what it used to be. Three or four times over the past couple of months I've stopped in for a burger while watching a game and nobody has helped me. I stood in line, ordered my burger, found a seat and then nothing. No greeting or offer for a drink. I don't know if it's me, if it's staffing or if they've changed the flow from having servers to having customers order from the bar. All I know is I don't like it and I don't see myself dining in as much as I used to.
google avatar

Cheri M.

Yelp
I have been wanting to check this place out since I saw they had excellent burgers. They are not kidding! I got the flea market burger. It didn't disappoint. So juicy and flavorful. You go up and pay and by the way, they only except cash. They do have an The cook calls your name when it's ready. There's everything you need to put on your burger right where you pick it up. I'll probably be back here to try something else. They also have a bunch of games. Great babysitter for the kids and adults. Friendly staff
google avatar

Susan G.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere, friendly service, cold beer, and the BEST burgers in kc! Pro tips: bring cash, no credit cards, and use the fry seasoning by the toppings bar on your fries. YUM!
google avatar

Devan D.

Yelp
Westport Flea Market likes to toot their own horn as the best burgers in KC. And they have a legit argument. The thick beefy Pattie's from McGonigles with the toasted bun are so dang good. Easily a Top 5 burger for me. Love their onion rings. The fries are fine but they're basically a curled shoe string fry - not a seasoned curly fry. 3 things to know - First, paying for any add-on topping beyond cheese is not really a thing for me. The toppings bar has all the condiments and veggies I could need so why not top my burger for free? Second, you order drinks at the table but food at the bar. Third, it's CASH ONLY. This place is a KC institution. Enjoy!
google avatar

Dennis P.

Yelp
First time in, little shetchy at first, pretty laid back . Service is a bit lacking but it's supposed to be the best burger in this part of town . We shall see when our name gets called to pick up the food.

Yelp
I've been eating and drinking at the Flea Market since the mid 1980's; back when it was an actual flea market that had a bar and restaurant in the interior. It was a favorite stop when I played on a dart league (steel tips and chalk boards - not plastic tips and automatic counters) and a regular watering hole and a frequent stop for shopping for my collections when I lived in the Westport area. Yes, I knew Bob Berdella and have personal horrific stories - but here is not the time nor place. My point is that I have an almost 40 year connection to this joint and it saddens me give such a low rating. My Friday night pit-stop before seeing an event in the Westport Bowery in the back half of the building, was just like the past 2 visits in the past 2 years - lackluster and maddening. Maddening that they still don't take charge cards, have a toppings bar that isn't the most sanitary or interesting and the noise level is truly annoying - this time karaoke, last time trivia. Beside the peripheral stuff, the burgers that were often listed as the best in KC (who made those lists???) is nothing more than large - the taste and presentation is disappointing considered the historical hype and using the sandwich as their main draw - they even have a large burger-car parked out front. They have lots of arcade games and shuffleboard if that's your thing but be prepared to be assaulted with an audio onslaught of "Joe- your burgers ready" and annoyingly bad singers, and bad MC's on microphones turned up to 11. A legendary establishment that has a better history that what they are currently delivering.

Tonni G.

Yelp
This place is not it. Visited on a Saturday evening around 6PM, the place was not overly busy but was over run with children. This place is cash only. There is an ATM but it has a limit of $60 so I would recommend you get cash before or pay a $2.95 fee everytime. The prices are a little high but it the worst I've seen in Westport. We ordered and waited 45 minutes before we received our food that was then cold. The service is absolutely horrible, in fact it's non existent. Good luck trying to get food in a reasonable amount of time or a drink.
google avatar

Elle J.

Yelp
Food is great! I had the patty melt and I'm already craving another. My only complaint (and the only reason I give it 3 stars) is that the woman who took my order was very standoffish/unfriendly. She rolled her eyes at me when I asked for a carry-out order. I'd like to think that she was maybe just having an off day.
google avatar

Keely H.

Yelp
Yummy food! They make a lot of dishes FROM SCRATCH here! The burgers are cooked on a flattop! The mozzarella sticks (triangles here) are hand made! They cut the cheese by hand, and hand bread every piece! They are delicious with the homemade marinara dipping sauce! My personal favorite entree is the Cajun chicken salad- make sure you like spicy things if you get this one! Soooo good! I love it with the honest mustard dressing- the sweetness with that Cajun kick is perfect! Amazing portions too! So many more items to try! Will be back :)

Yelp
My family was able to experience their first Flea Market Burger. Cash only but they provide an ATM if you've forgotten. The hamburger meat is quality, served fresh, and cooked the way you like. The burgers come with curly fries or cottage cheese. You can request no bun if you have dietary restrictions. (Gluten free) The old-school arcade games won over my children.

Noah F.

Yelp
I highly recommend flea market bar and grill! They have really good specials I go here once a week for their steak night. Very friendly environment, feels like my new neighborhood hangout! You order at a cashier station for food and they call it over an intercom. The cooks are amazing people, so far I haven't had an opinion on the bartenders. There is a very friendly chef in the kitchen that always has a smile on her face. There is pinball machines, ski ball machines. A very cool arcade. If you're in the area I think this is one of the best neighborhood bars. It has a very interesting history as well as it once was a flea market/ antique store with a serial killer. Super cool. Also family friendly environment.

Yelp
Finally tried Westport Flea Market after 2 years of living literally in their parking lot! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Here's how it works -- enter the restaurant off of Westport road and make your way back to the bar in the back right corner. Tucked on one of the ends there's a cashier with a sign that says Order Here. There's a big menu printed out by where the line forms. Reminder -- this place is CASH ONLY!! Don't forget your CASH!!!! You give the cashier your name when you order your food, and then you go grab a seat somewhere in the restaurant. Servers come to the tables, and that's how you order drinks! The pick up window is closer to the front door. We sat in the same room/area as the pick up window, and I'm not going to lie to you, we could not understand a word they were saying over the intercom. I feel like it must have been easier to hear in other parts of the restaurant, but we really had to guess when our food was ready. Next to the order window, there's a little bar with all the toppings your heart could desire. (If you want fried onions, you'll order that with your burger at the bar). The burger was so delicious and greasy, and I love the curly fries!! We went on a Friday night, and they were setting up karaoke which was fun to watch! Lots of different kinds of people gathered to eat some delicious burgers! Overall great experience! Remember to bring cash!

David L.

Yelp
I was there in Sunday and the music was great but the bartender Bailey is what was most memorable. This young lady was amazing and was able to handle a full bar on her own and with a smile and great attitude! I will be back! And I hope she is bartending!

Patrick M.

Yelp
Amazing service and food! Manager and staff was great! Definitely recommend the happy hour wings 10/10

Yelp
Exactly what we were looking for. An outstanding cheeseburger, no-fuss place. Took my son here and let him have a roll of quarters to play on the machines. Devoured my flea market burger and took a divine slice of chocolate cake home to savor in bed that night. It was all worth it. The manager on duty was on top of it!

Yelp
Greasy bland food. I originally went here hoping for a good burger as they claim "voted best burger in KC." This was a terrible burger. The burger is so greasy the bun was practically mush. On top of that they don't season the burger or the fries leaving for a bland and greasy meal. They also don't accept cards and only have an ATM with a $3 fee. Definitely would avoid if you want a good burger.

Yelp
Grabbed dinner at Westport Flea Market. We went at 6:00 on a Thursday and it was dead. I ordered a mini burger and fries and was STUFFED. The burger was DELISH and the fries were fine- nothing special. The staff was kind and helpful. I'd definitely go back!

Yelp
A good burger bar. Plenty of TVs, and video games if you're so inclined. No nonsense service. I love Trivia on Thursday nights.

Just me

Yelp
This place is amazing every single time. Great service, great ambiance, great prices, great everything. Mark sure knows how to treat a customer. The burgers are huge juicy and never fail to satisfy my hunger.

Yelp
If I'm going to eat a burger in Kansas City, this is one of the very few worthy of the effort for my money. I've been coming here forever, but missed a couple of years before the pandemic and then hardly any dining out during, so quite a span between visits. And somehow, never reviewed on Yelp. I wasn't sure their burgers would still have it going but indeed, they do. Got the Flea burger, 10 oz. of pure gluttony on a bun with cheese and that side of curly fries. Yea, you sometimes hate yourself about 2 hours later, but worth the sacrifice once in awhile. Honestly, I can't imagine a Kansas City without this place, but kind of feel like it needs a bit of attention to detail in the bar and dining area. Lots of crap stacked up, miscellaneous supplies strewn about and just messier than usual, and didn't quite appear on their service game. And yet, I'll likely return. And I guess I didn't remember the cash only part. Kind of annoying, I mean, I can use a card at the Farmer's Market in Lawrence or Kansas City, so why not here I can guess more for tax avoidance and savings of those fees at the customer's expense. Of note, the house BBQ sauce here is killer stuff. As in some of the best in the KC tradition that'd be worthy on some ribs or burnt ends if you were at once of those joints. With the fries, deadly good. If you're looking for a relaxed, down home, burger and a beer with some fries on the side, hard to beat what's going on here. Long live the Flea!
