Unless the worker was fired, I will continue to boycott this company and continue to spread the word that WESTSIDE MARKET CONDONES AND ENCOURAGES PROFILING OF BLACK PEOPLE.. NO STARS!!! Westside Market Thank You for my very first racist, prejudiced, biased experience as a black woman New Yorker in my entire life and I just turned 51! ENCOURAGING profiling. I have been a patron to three of your stores for more than 30 years and more frequently over the past 15 on the upper westside. I was just followed & profiled at your 94th Street store and publicly embarrassed after I decided not to buy the product I was carrying after not finding the rest of the items on my grocery list. I HAVE A RIGHT TO CHANGE MY MIND AND THAT IS NOT A REASON FOR SUSPICION of THEFT. I just happened to be the only black woman in the store, maybe it was the fact that I shopped somewhere else first, and had a full bag of groceries already, that's odd behavior I guess...NOT! Even after your worker was found to be utterly wrong, there was no apology but only indignation from the worker who's people are begging for human rights in this country. Oh, the irony. He's protecting a store that I'm sure is not paying a living wage! The nerve!!! I will tell everyone I know to stop shopping here. I will never shop your stores again! How contradictory, almost every worker in your stores are people of color and you condone profiling people of color. This was the last strike for me after the dirty cold cuts a few weeks ago, the deli man spitting something stuck in his teeth and the manager acting annoyed when I reported it at the 110th street store. I didn't believe the vermin story when it was reported in the news but now I do. Your business will be reported for profiling. I will be reaching out to your corporate office in the morning and then on Social media and probably the better business bureau too. Just think I spent money in your store just yesterday! I've never been more disgusted. Check your cameras it happened!

This shop sells good quality produce and hot/cold food but most of it is wildly over-priced. The "fresh bread" is awful. I'm genuinely interested to understand why you need to sell a $5 baguette but still fill it with preservatives? But what I really dislike about this store, and why I avoid it as much as possible, is the attitude at the checkout. You're going to rip me off, fine, but at least do it with a smile. It costs nothing to say "hello, please and thank you". The people on the till are waiting for me to thank them! Thankfully, since I got instacart I have no reason to go here even though I walk past it at least twice a day.

Cute little grocery store. Kind of crowded, looks like a lot of Columbia University students shop here. Place is hard to maneuver around but from what I can tell, the prices are great (snack cheese is more reasonably priced than my local Key Food in the Bronx 🤦) A lot of gourmet finds like mentioned in the description of the store.

The only reason to go here is convenience. They have a full selection of fresh produce, a decent bakery, ready-to-go meals and large grocery section. However, personele is incredibly rude and makes you feel like you’re not worthy to shop at their establishment, it’s insanely expensive and it smells funky. Go here if you’re just not feeling the walk over to Wholefoods or TJ’s, otherwise, keep walking.

“Chicken buns” had about 2 teaspoons of chicken in each and WAY too much over sweet dough. The iced tea I bought had a freshness-indicating cap that didn’t pop when I opened it. Two strikes in the same trip is my limit.

Excellent variety of products the sandwiches are amazing ,only problem is that the prices are very steep, the do not have senior discounts nor they have student discounts and they definitely do not have veterans discount which is too bad because it is a terrific supermarket ,one more thing the New York strip steak was to die for, it was the best I had in at least 20 years

Food is generally excellent but fresh turkey meatloaf was TERRIBLE almost inedible for too many spices and cost $14. ALSO ,why do they allow dogs in the store ,2 small poodles could not be construed as personal aides to a young girl,did she pay a doctor $100 to get a fake certificate? NO DOGS IN STORES!!!

Really disappointing!!!! I am a longtime customer who shops very regularly there and they could not care less. I studpidly decided to have my groceries delivered because they were too heavy and what a mistake. They let the order sit there for over an hour before they sent it out and then I was last on the list so the delivery person went to several other locations before. My fresh fish and other frozen items were ruined. Terrible customer service to top it all off . Wasted alot of money!!!

I stopped by in search of something for dinner and was really impressed by Westside Market's selection of prepared foods--especially for the area and price point. They offer both packaged options and a hot food station with plenty of variety. The frozen food aisle was a bit less impressive, with fewer entrée or meal prep options than I expected. Still, the store itself is spacious, well-organized, and easy to navigate. Checkout was quick and efficient, which I appreciated. I picked up a half BBQ baked chicken for $5--a great deal. The sauce was just okay, but the meal itself was convenient and satisfying. I'd definitely stop by again if I'm in the neighborhood.

Great prepared foods and salad options. Can be a little pricey for some items but it's a go-to market in the neighborhood.

Extremely expensive with limited inventory. I do not recommend this place. Apologies, but I'm someone who values saving money, and everything here feels significantly overpriced.

WSM is 24hrs and they mostly have everything..... Tariffs, remember them? WSM immediately raised their prices. As in the next day., except there arent any tariffs........ Prepared food: container of quinoa with vegatables, or kale, etc. Theyre all the same price. Price increased from $7.99 to $10.99.....AND the container is 1/3 smaller, the lid however is the same size. Most people wont notice the size reduction since the lid is the same so it basically looks the same, except its not. Sneaky sneaky. $3 more & 1/3 less product = major price increase.

Always love Westside Market- and have shopped at several locations. Variety of basic and gourmet groceries and ready-made meals/sandwiches/salads and sides. This place is a must stop on a NYC visit or regularly if you live in the city. The prices are not cheap- but we are in the big city.

They have good food selection. However, the checkout staff is so mean. The women will tell you that if you do not speak Spanish, they will not help you. I have never felt so much anger in staff towards helping customers.

I love this grocery store. The prepared foods are delicious and offer a great variety. The produce is consistently fresh, and I appreciate the selection of unique and specialty items that can be hard to find elsewhere. The bakery section is fantastic, I love the German Chocolate cake. What I love most is how efficiently they run their checkout, similar to Trader Joe's, with someone often directing customers to open registers. I can honestly say I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to check out. I don't understand the complaints about unfriendly checkout staff. Every time I've been there, they've been friendly and helpful. Prices have gone up everywhere, so that's not on them.

Incredible variety, lots of ready made items to choose from, lots of fruit, so many cheeses. Service is great I've never had a problem. Great for after work when cooking is out of the question.

Still one star. I bought a bag of mini sweet peppers, half were rotten. The place is a disaster.

Westside Market NYC isn't just for the West-siders. When I'm out walking and spot a Westside Market I usually buy some goodies to take home. I love the Olive Focaccia, the scones, and especially the Spinach Pie. The Spinach Pie is easy to heat in the toaster oven and is very filling. I'm not visiting this location as much as I have in the past. They have opened a location closer to my home. I've never had a problem with customer service and the food is always fresh and delicious. I'm recommending.

Just moved to NY and this place is nirvana from several perspectives. Has everything in food you can imagine and terrific prepared foods. It is well organized and clean. Why only four stars? Despite many visits over the last month, the staff/cashiers seem unhappy and implies something is amiss in leadership. While coming in I feel great, I never leave feeling good and feel I am supporting a business that doesn't support its people.

Extraordinarily rude. I'm older and using an assistive device due to recent surgery. I got to the checkout line and put my basket (only 3 items) on the counter. The cashier said "Take it out". I leaned on my device and took the 3 items out. I put my bag down to pack and she just threw my items to the side. She also made 'a noise' when I didn't take the basket away. The cashier packed the previous customers bag. She then threw the receipt after I paid. All I did when I approached the counter was to say hi. I'm sure Westside doesn't care about one less customer. But I will feel better never to step inside one of their businesses again.

I came in for a last-minute salad, and I was not disappointed. The salad was good though I missed seeing Alexis. I came in for my usual kale salad. You can seriously never go wrong with the salads at Westside Market, and they might even be the best in the city. Out of all the 30 years that I've been in New York, I can confidently say that there are no other salad options out there quite like the bar at Westside Market.

Decent store with ever more indecent prices. Everything shot up in price by 20% or so in last year. They must figure it's better to make bigger profits off of fewer customers. Their prices are now often 30% higher than nearby stores. Good luck. You lost me.

Excellent grocery store with a wonderful selection and helpful staff. Great selections with high quality ingredients used throughout

The store is so convenient-- open 24/7-- a big plus... And the people working there are usually really nice. They have a good variety of things .... But, yikes --the prices for everything have gone so high!! I used to shop here all the time because it's the closest grocery store to me, but now I only buy a few things-- or when needed urgently or I'm too lazy to walk to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. But other nearby grocery stores sell some yogurt brands for $3 less, or the same canned food for $3-4 less! Forget about buying meat here. Used to have a fair deal on steaks or checked thigh-- looking at today's prices I've thought to become vegetarian. A few things here are the same price as other stores, and eggs can usually be found at $4.99-$6 / dozen ( not too bad these days). They sometimes have good deals on cheese and a decent selection, have great shumai and good muffins @ 2/$4, but so much is priced so very high -- I just can't justify doing my big shopping here. I have to hike elsewhere for that, unfortunately.....

As supermarkets go it's ok. Like most New York tiny and expensive. A lot of really unnecessary items on the shelves. You could easily cull these items and remove a whole aisle and make it easier to negotiate the store. But I usually just walk a bit further to the key food. Better prices. They still have tight aisles though. Their produce isn't as good though. Meat department is definitely better at key food too. But west side market is close and handy for some items. The folks that work there are very nice too.

I hate this place. They've managed to make it normal to pay $11 for a box of cereal. The good thing about it is that they're open all the time. Other than that, the produce is subpar and overpriced. The dry goods are often expired. The prepared foods have given me food poisoning. The staff is unfriendly. Wish they would turn it into a Trader Joe's.

I love this market! the prepared food is fresh and tasty, The service is quick and efficient, the store is always clean and inviting! So happy we found this jewel!

Do not go here 1. They have predatorily raised prices to take advantage of inflation. $22 for a six pack of stock/non-artisan beer? These people are thieves 2. They bar usage of your own bags--see sign at the door. Then when they ask you if you want a bag, they give you two and charge you twice. 3. All of their popsicles are melted and refrozen 4. I have found so many items past the date still being sold This place is run by scammers

Nice selections, some things higher priced than at other stores, such as the healthy, GUILT-FREE, Delicious , ice pops by EATPOPS BRAND. Here, $7.99 a box of 3. BUT, LESS $ at Whole Foods, EAST 57th Street. Why???? Love the large muffins here, 3 for $5. Yummy good! Nice large selection of yogurt brands. Sometimes you'll find NICE SALES. Overall: I LIKE THIS MARKET. CHECK-OUT AREA--line moves quickly & I LOVE THAT A STAFF MEMBER ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE THERE TO DIRECT CHECK-OUT TRAFFIC!!! LOVE THAT!! Helpful staff!! In general. OVERALL--Very Nice Mkt. As with ANY GROCERY STORE CHECK-OUT--Pay Attention!! Prices may come up wrong on register, rare, but I have had it happen here & staff corrected it immediately-no hassle, no attitude .

While I appreciate the shelves never being empty especially in the drink section , I'd appreciate the drinks being cold a lot more. They don't know how to rotate the drinks they just fill up the empty space with warm drinks instead of putting the cold ones first which is very frustrating especially in the heat of summer !!!

I stopped in to buy my husband's favorite grapefruit beer called Schofferfer. I asked one of the store employees and he was very helpful. The store was bustling. If I'm in the neighborhood, I would shop here again.

I would like to begin by mentioning what this store does best- baked goods. Their chocolate chip muffins and double chocolate muffins are the best I've ever had. You can buy them individually or in a case of four. Every good thing that could possibly be said about a muffin applies here. With that said, of course always check the date that's on the label. These muffins are some sort of magic, they stay moist for weeks. The next thing i want to compliment is their range of products. They have almost everything you could be shopping for. I would compare it to a nicer key foods. The store is very clean and I've been here many times, and never noticed anything out of stock. But, with that, they are a bit on the pricey side. I normally avoid buying more than their baked goods for that reason. Also, the checkout line is often backed up down the drink aisle, so the layout of that poses an issue if you're looking for beer or soda. Other than that, the line, although it is long, tends to move quickly. Like key foods, their hygiene supplies are also behind the cash registers when you check out, so you don't have much time to browse or decide on an item. One final note, is the location is pretty convenient. If you go there and don't find what you're looking for, you're 2 blocks or so from the Columbus Whole Foods, key foods, rite aide, and target. So if you want to take a whole shopping day for thanksgiving, it's easy to knock out a lot of places in a single day- given you have the arm strength to carry all your bags. Depending on where you live you can catch the bus going south on Broadway, and if you're headed north, it's just a block east going to catch the bus on Amsterdam. TLDR: The muffins are great. This is reason enough to come here. The selection is also good and the store is clean. Unfortunately it's normally more expensive than key foods, Amazon fresh, etc. The soap, toothpaste, razors, medicine, etc are behind the cash registers so you don't have much time to browse, and there's normally a long line, so it's uncomfortable to choose these things. Luckily it's close to target, rite aid, Whole Foods and key foods on Columbus, so you can get your baked goods here and head that way for all else.

Bought this at their store and the bagel is not baked enough...raw dough... that's disgusting! Have to throw it out...

Well beside market seems to have a monopoly in the Columbia University area as well as throughout the city now, and while their products are admittedly overpriced, occasionally, it's nice to get some fresh food from their hot food section as well as their deli section. However the last time I went in, during the middle of the covered crisis while New York was still raising cases in raising deaths every day, I went in to get a sandwich, and the person behind the counter was not properly wearing a mask that was fully covering his nose and mouth. And maybe he doesn't care, but it's the law. And I got out of the store as quickly as possible because I don't want to Covid coverage sandwich because he's breathing on the sandwich while he's making it. I hope the management of the owners of Westside market realize they are responsible for this. Because their markets are so cramped, that the transmission of Covid in Westside market is likely to be higher than in almost any other market in the city. Don't go to Westside market. They don't care about your life

I love this market! It's always been one of my favorite markets. I love variety and boy do they give me a variety of prepared foods! Rows of neatly clearly prepared items satisfies my OCD about organization. They have every nationality of Food items neatly packed in cases and reheatable containers. I chose the Gorgonzola Pesto Cheese Spread, regular Pesto, Sundried Tomato Pesto, Jalepeno Hummus, Beet Hummus and other items. I bought several of their fresh vegetable juices, which I absolutely love. I also bought the fresh squeezed orange juice and apple cider...yummm to all!!! My only disappointment was two different sandwiches I bought...can you say soggy bread?! Ewwww soggy bread....MMmmm not so nice. Well I called the manager when I got home to tell him about it. He was quite pleasant and invited me to come and return the item with no problem. He asked me when I came in if I wanted another sandwich or salad something else I took another two items instead for the same value no questions or arguments just pure pleasantness. Great staff and a bit pricy but trust me it's all worth it for the quality and variety of fresh food items.

I'm sorry but I used to buy and like their homemade soups. But anymore they are always tart or sour tasting. Very much edible and I just have to throw them out as a waste of my money. Also I don't understand why every soup has gigantic vegetables. Huge chunks of carrots and celery in everything.

Food was great. The workers treated me well and were very helpful. Very unique grocery store and different from my SC grocery stores. Wish we had one closer!

I came here to buy my mom a tiramisu cake except they sold me an expired cake. it smelled and tasted like shit. I took a bite of it and wanted to throw up. how fucking disgusting to think that they would sell something that's had to be there sitting for weeks. the fact that no one checks to see the quality of the food that they are selling is beyond me. when I went to get my money back the guy had a grin on his face and never even apologized. neverrrrrrrrrrrrrr coming here.

I really like the fact that you can shop there 24/7, but this is about it. And be careful on what you pick! I had a chicken salad (they call it protein salad) at 2 am on a Saturday morning which gave me a bad food poisoning about half an hour after I had eaten it and forced me to stay in the bathroom for the rest of the night. Also: Stay away from the cheese specials! If you think you get a good deal on a imported cheese, pretty sure it is bad already. This was another bad stomach experiance - way less painful than the first time - but still... The breakfast special - egg sandwich and a coffee for $3.99 plus tax is ok, if you arrive not too early and not too late to get it. The prices for everything else in this store are ridiculously high.

In the grand scheme of things this is a small thing, but I think it points out how this store's philosophy is to squeeze your last dime from you. I needed something and didn't want to walk to the more reasonable options in the neighborhood. I made my purchase and needed a small a paper bag. They charged me 15 cents for the bag and an additional 5 cents nyc bag fee on top of that. Yes I know it's "only" 20 cents but it aligns with their money grubbing pricing and less than pristine stock. ALWAYS check expiration dates and take the time to compare the prices of their competitors to avoid their unashamed price gauging!

They fixed the problem and have been very helpful in helping me in my current visits. Homer and George are the sweetest people that have been apart of our community for years. Thank you.

First of all, these guys are good with answering phone calls. I called in at 9:30 on a sunday evening, and someone picked up in about 5 seconds, and managed to address my inquiry super succinctly. Most westside markets are the same, in that they offer the same basic product. The product which is obviously the most impressive, in my opinion, is the salad bar. The salad bar has several different salad base offerings, such as kale or spinach- these are the salad bases I usually order. If you want to add meat, your salad is $7.99 per lb; if you want to add seafood, your salad is $8.99. Believe me, it's actually pretty hard to eat a pound of salad, unless you really fill up on tomatoes or something really watery like that, so most salads will actually wind up weighting less than a pound, and will therefore typically cost a little under $8 before tax. I think this is a pretty great deal, and considering all the different toppings they offer here, it can make for a pretty good lunch too.

Pros: This grocery store like many other Westside Markets are open 24/7. Many options to choose from for prepared foods Cons: Majority of the items are completely overpriced! You could literally shop at Whole Foods for less. For whatever reason some of the items I've bought from there don't seem to last long...particularly cut fruits. Must have been sitting on the shelf longer than it should be.

Today I went to the market which is located on the 92 St and Lexington, very good service, but related to the food I bought! I stumbled upon a surprise in broccoli! It's something I don't know what to do, I just want to share this comment to do something about it!

Beware of this scammers Everything on the shelf's are one priced wen you go to pay it's another price When you buy already cut fruits check the expiration date because they are expiring most of the stuff in this grocery store And the worker's looking at you like they doing you favor for spending your money Go to whole food couple blocks down you will thanks yourself

I bought half cherry pie at salad counter. It was a mush inside instead of whole cherries as if saving money. Then I got a mouthful of lard Disgusting-- gagged. I find food here in general looks good but tastes awful. Unfortunately, local store. I will only buy fruit or salad in the future.

Best of the best. If you need groceries, it's westside market. I've been shopping at their stores for over 10 years. They are always very helpful and I have to say the amount of prepared food they have is unbelievable! Keep up the great work!

I don't shop here because every time I walk past this place the workers outside guarding the fruit always cat call me or say vulgar things in Spanish. I've emailed the store before and they said they would "have a talk with their employees about sexual harassment" but it continues. I've lived in this area for 5 years and have to pass by this place everyday to get to the 96th train stop and I get so uncomfortable I literally cross the street to avoid these men. The fact that the men here have the guts to cat call women while wearing the store uniform and being on the clock working really shows that they don't fear their management.

This location is poorly maintained. Overpriced and often sells expired products (chips, bread etc). I have given the store several tries and this was my last attempt to give them my business - purchased a pack of tomato juice cans and there is disgusting mold and growth in the packaging.

I have been a loyal West Side Market (corner of W 14th and 7th Avenue) customer for years. Today I tried to return a bag of bad frozen shrimp that cost me $30 and exchange it for a new bag. I was patronized and talked down to by the store manager at 4 pm on Saturday January 21. I was told returns were only honored after 7 days and shown a receipt that had that policy printed on it. Any thinking person would realize that no one uses an entire bag of frozen shrimp in seven days. You would think that West Side Market would want to know if they were selling bags of frozen shrimp that had gone bad but apparently not. I will never go to any West Side Market again and I will tell everyone I know about this experience and encourage them to patronize other grocery stores that respect and value their customers. I shopped there this evening, Saturday, and was unhappy to see that the door to the freezer area for Amy's frozen section was hanging wide open. I tried to close it (the door where the Amy's pizzas are), and it's broken- it doesn't fully close and it doesn't stay closed. Why is this not being fixed? Also there was a young looking, light skinned fellow in charge of directing people in the line, and he was so busy texting that he wasn't helping people until they had to ask where they should go. Someone gave him a frozen product to return and he just threw it to the side and went back to texting.

Open 24 hours, good selection of most everything you might need...grocery items (local and name brands), fresh fruits/veggies, bakery items, small hot food deli, fresh seafood, specialty cheeses, cleaning supplies...so much crammed in a tiny store. That's a partial definition of New York City itself. Very convenient! Bring your own bags or be charged for each one you need (that's everywhere now). They are sturdy bags though and will get you all the way home with all your items.

About time I review one of my usual markets. I'm just going to lay out my pros and cons (with elaboration, of course) Pros: -Good selection of just about anything you could need. Solid. -Very impressive variety of prepared foods. You've got your prepared foods counter filled with anything from grilled salmon to turkey meatloaf to stuffed sea bass to sweet potato salad to....you get the point. Lots of interesting preparations. In addition to this counter, there's an adjacent aisle with rows and rows of prepared veggies (sauteed/grilled/steamed/anything you could possible want) as well as a number of seafood, poultry and meat options. These preparations are much simpler than what you'll find behind the counter. -Lines move fast considering the volume of people that come here at all hours of the day -Open 24 hours. Any supermarket that can offer me any kind of drunk food at any time of night gets my praise -Salad counter stocks a ton of ingredients, and unlike most salad counters, they calculate price based on weight as opposed to number of toppings. So you can ask for as much or as little of a topping as you want (I haven't really pushed this though, so I'm not sure if there's actually an upper limit) instead of a uniform amount of each topping - this is hard to find in the city Cons: -Fruit is sub-par. All of it, really. Whether it goes bad quickly or the taste is just off, I'm almost never satisfied. Prepared melons are overripe far too much of the time, berries can be chewy (those two words should never appear together, without exception), apples are bruised/taste abnormal, almost impossible to find a good avocado...the list is sadly endless. West Side is slightly better in the vegetable department, but I still go elsewhere for all produce. -Pricey for the quality. And this place seems to be more about quantity than quality. So not only do you run the risk of leaving with a hefty bill, but those prepared foods that look so delightful behind glass aren't actually very good. A grilled salmon fillet at Fairway is not only significantly cheaper than it is at West Side, it is far more satisfying to the taste buds. -Staff. RUDE. Not always, but often. Most notably, the employees who actually have the easiest job in the whole damn store - the cashier marshals, as I like to call them. Please stop screaming "3 ON YOUR LEFT" in a tone that gets progressively more irritated as I pick out a few energy bars on my way to my destination. I'm sorry that I'm actually impulse-buying the impulse-buy items, but if I had opted to pick these items up at the beginning of my visit before proceeding to the rest of the store, you'd scream "EXIT ONLY!!!". Lose-lose.

The cashiers are the worst, they don't acknowledge your existence let alone say thank you or help you pack. Makes me feel stupid for shopping here.

The health board should close this place down. Pigeon drippings cover the outside sidewalk in front of store under scaffolding. I've even found bird droppings on fruit. Also, when deliveries arrive boxes are left on top of bird droppings. Won't shop here for fear of cross contamination.

We stumbled upon this market, and came back a few times throughout the week to replenish our snacks for our day trips. They have lots of healthy & specialty snacks, fruits and produce. Nice, clean, and plenty of selection.
