The 38 Best Restaurants in Sydney, Australia - Eater

"Sydney is populated with noteworthy pizzerias slinging topping-thick Roman slabs, wood-fired wonders, and even Naples-certified vegan dough. Westwood Pizza is worth singling out because Mitch Westwood crafts everything on the menu from local ingredients. The dough is shaped from single-heritage emmer wheat that’s grown up north and fermented for three days. The syrupy drizzle of honey on the knockout garlic cheese pizza comes from within New South Wales, as do the salami, vegetables, cheese, and even the timber used to fire the oven." - Lee Tran Lam

Westwood Opens for Whiskey Drinking and Mechanical Bull-Riding in the Marina | Eater SF

"In Sydney, I singled out Westwood Pizza because Mitch Westwood crafts everything on the menu from local ingredients: the dough is shaped from single-heritage emmer wheat grown up north and fermented for three days, the garlic cheese pizza is finished with a syrupy drizzle of honey from New South Wales, and the salami, vegetables, cheese, and even the timber used to fire the oven come from within the state. Know before you go: walk-ins and preorders only (the restaurant recommends preorders)." - Caleb Pershan

Westwood Pizza nails the pizza base — thin, sturdy, and cooked with precision. I tried three different pizzas, but personally, all of them leaned a bit too sweet for my taste. The best of the bunch was probably their signature garlic pizza, which had a nice balance. The pepperoni/salami pizza had a sweet sauce or glaze, which didn’t completely overwhelm the toppings, but still tilted the flavour profile a bit. The nduja pizza had a strong smoky flavour with caramelised onion, which I found slightly heavy. Overall, the pizzas are well-made and the kitchen clearly knows their craft, but the flavours weren’t balanced to my liking. Still, it’s a busy spot and worth trying if you enjoy sweeter-style pizzas.

Low key spot on a beautiful street. A friend told me this was the best pizza in Sydney. I was a little sceptical but damn it was great!! I had a couple but the stand out was the margarita. The crust was somehow soft, chewy and crunch. The tomato sauce was creamy and well balanced and the cheese had a tiny bit more punch than what I’ve come to expect. All this came together for what I’d say is a perfect margarita! Would go again. Also price was reasonable!

I don’t know why everyone in the reviews is creaming their pants over the honey garlic pizza. It is the weirdest combination on a pizza ever. We also ordered the Spanner crab pizza which was not fresh at all and tasted a bit off/fishy. The dough was so fresh and fluffy tho so we wish we ordered different flavours

Considering its reputation, the pizza was disappointingly ordinary. The dough had nothing special about it, and the strong burnt flavor made the crust almost inedible. Even the classic Margherita lacked the freshness and tanginess of tomato sauce — I could barely taste any tomato at all. Instead, the overpowering saltiness of the Parmesan cheese dominated the flavor. Overall, a very underwhelming experience.

Google
Best pizza in Sydney!!!! The garlic & honey pizza and the crab pizza both have amazing flavours. Because the pizzas are thin, you can easily finish one on your own, which is perfect for friends who want to try different flavours, or for people eating alone who still want great pizza.

Pizza was amazing! Topping of supreme quality and the wait time wasn’t too bad. Sitting area is limited but they were very quick with turnaround so will be back for sure. Good location off the main road from Newtown.

Really great pizza joint tucked around the corner of Newtown. They have such amazing pizza with various flavours. They also have a selection of drinks to choose from to go with your pizza. I’ve been told the menu changes. I highly recommend getting their chilli oil and try out all the pizzas. My favourites were the honey and garlic, and the seafood one but the name escapes me. It’s a really long wait time during peak times and staff will advise going for a walk and coming back. They’ll also grab your number just in case and if you’re after seats they can sort you out. There is limited seating and it gets even more limiting if it rains. Still worth trying if you’re after the best pizza in Sydney because it’s up there.

Probably one of the best pizza spots in Sydney. The Salamanca is their top tier take on a diavola. Don’t skip on the chilli oil, it’s packs so much flavour besides the heat. Their takeaway service is also always so great, often with less than 10 mins of wait time.
