Wham Bam Bagels St Elmo

From Someone who grew up in NY and spent 25+ years in Montreal, the argument on which city had the best bagels has been ongoing for as long as I can remember. I just found the answer … NEITHER ! The best bagel in the world is in Austin TX at Wham Bam Bagels !!

This is easily one of the best lox salmons I’ve had in Austin. The capers are beautifully balanced with the shallots and tomato. I got it with an everything bagel and highly recommend it. I had already eaten half of it before taking the photo😂

Philly cheesesteak bagel is awesome. Very flavorful. Most of the Ingredients slid out the back of the bagel when they cut it in 1/2. Gotta keep those kitchen knives sharp.

My wife and I moved to Kyle almost a year ago and have been searching for a great bagel spot ever since. Back in Arizona, getting bagels was part of our regular routine, especially from our favorite place, Hot Bagels. Whether it was a bacon, egg, and cheese on a garlic bagel after a night out, a hearty breakfast before a heavy lifting day, or even lunch, bagels were our go-to. We hadn’t found a single spot worth returning to until we made the drive to Wham Bam Bagels in South Austin. From the moment we walked up, the experience was outstanding. The staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and genuinely helpful. They took the time to chat with us about their business on how they’re a mom-and-pop shop and where they source their bagels. They even offered us coffee (which I would have gladly accepted if I hadn’t already downed an energy drink on the way), and my wife loved hers. She even said she’d go back just for the coffee. I ordered my usual: bacon, egg, and cheese on a garlic bagel. Right from the first bite, I knew it was a winner. The garlic aroma was perfect 10/10. The outside had that ideal crunch 10/10. The inside was soft and fresh 10/10. Everything else was spot-on, and most importantly, they didn’t skimp on the bacon like so many other places do. Even though Wham Bam Bagels is a bit of a drive for us, my wife and I loved both the food and the people so much that we’re planning to make it a regular stop. I highly recommend getting there early to make sure you snag your favorites before they sell out. 10/10 absolutely worth the trip.

This place is excruciating slow at.......making a sandwich. And then, it wasn't worth the wait, bagel sandwiches are too bready, and this one is no different. Nothing exceptional about the preparation, nothing original about the sandwich, so its just bland. Also, I noticed they're cutting the sandwiches directly on a stainless steel surface, so a little metal shavings with your bagel sandwich. That alone will keep me from going back, I put too much effort into eating fresh foods and avoid toxins in my food for it all to be tainted by a bagel sandwich with metal shavings that I had to wait 15 minutes for. And the workers have a holier than thou attitude.....umm, you're struggling to make bagel sandwiches and coffee with halfway decent customer service, check the attitude, seriously. Anyway, this place is just another Austin food truck that's overpriced with less than average food. For the money, there is way better, and you may be able to sit in a cleaned, air conditioned dining room and eat comfortably, not some hot, dusty, dirty table on the side of the road.

Bagels are closest to NYC bagels but they are on the thinner side in comparison. Soft, chewy bagels, heavy on the cream cheese, just how I like it. Was not impressed by the coffee the first time I was there so I only get bagels. Also, I wish the cream cheese was on both sides since I eat my bagels open and as for the add-ons: I paid $1.50 for tomatoes and only got 2 slices, a bit disappointing but my go-to Austin bagel spot nonetheless!

Cute bagel place, got the cinnamon raisin with Cinnamon Toast Crunch cream cheese and a sausage egg and cheese on plain. Everything was good, but I was a little bummed that the cinnamon toast cream cheese wasn’t like a flavored cream cheese. It was just plain cream cheese with the cereal on top.
