Seventh Son (Wan Chai)

"The name refers to the owner – the seventh son who learned his culinary skills from his father from the age of 14. The must-try barbecue meats include roast suckling pig which is smoky and rich. The skills of the kitchen team are manifest in traditional dishes like deep-fried egg custard with chicken kidney, and steamed beef patty with dried tangerine peel. The smart room comes complete with teak floors, gold accents and warm lighting." - Michelin Inspector

First time staying here - the room is decent and clean. The bathroom is more spacious than average 4 star hotel. There are tables and a sofa which not a lot of 4 star hotel will provide. And the best part of my stay is the bed. It is the most comfortable bed I’ve slept by far among all the 4 star hotels I lived in. Overall speaking, trip ranked this as top 20 4-star hotel and I think this speaks for itself.A bit sad that the swimming pool is closed due to renovation. But amenities are great, there are gym room, swimming pool and even massage service.

We’re back! This time we stayed in a room with a ✨tub✨. As a HKer, I’m always looking for a room with a bathtub 🛁 Location: Conveniently situated near the MTR, just a few mins to get to the hotel. The hotel is located in a lively nightlife district, so it can become noisy and crowded on weekends and holidays.Room: Clean and well-maintained, equipped with all the essential amenities. The bathtub fits one person (so sorry but the bathtub is not suitable for tall people 🥲). The Wi-Fi connection was reliable enough for general use.Facilities: Unfortunately, the pool is still closed.

The hotel was well located and the room was clean some complimentary snacks and drinks were in the fridge. However we booked this hotel for our kids to enjoy the swimming pool and this one was in maintenance until end of August. We were really disappointed because there was no notice anywhere when we booked this hotel.

Stayed at The Wharney Hotel for 4D3N with my family and booked 3 rooms. We were pleasantly surprised when the hotel kindly upgraded us—such a lovely gesture to start our trip. The rooms were larger than what you’d typically expect in Hong Kong, and everything felt clean, new, and modern. As someone who’s very particular about shower pressure, I was thrilled—strong and consistent water pressure, which is surprisingly rare in hotels. Big thumbs up! Service was excellent too; I requested a stronger hair dryer than the one provided in the room, and they delivered it promptly without any fuss. Location-wise, it’s super convenient—less than a 5-minute walk to the nearest train station and surrounded by plenty of great food options. Highly recommended. This will definitely be my go-to hotel whenever I visit Hong Kong again.

Location is good over on the island side. 2 minute walk to the Metro entrance and easy to get around.Plenty of food and bars around.Staff were accommodating and the housekeeper was always smiling and happy to see you.The only down side is that the recreational al stuff is in an annex building. Also the WiFi didn't work properly, however the staff were very accommodating with allowing me to use my laptop in the business lounge when I needed to.Stated before Covid. Still a decent place. Would stay again.

Loved my stay in this newly furnished room! It was cozy and spotlessly clean. A really considerate feature was the availability of both firm and soft pillows. The location was convenient, with easy access to everything I needed. A great, comfortable choice at a reasonable price!

During my recent stay, I needed a writing desk to work, but my room didn’t have one. Then I asked the front desk for help, the Front Office Manager - Aaron gently listen my special request and immediately arranged another new room with writing desk inside. The new room had a perfect workspace—so thoughtful! Aaron and the front desk team always provide exceptional service, which is why I choose this hotel every time I’m in Hong Kong. Highly recommended!

Spacious rooms, not typical for usual Hong Kong rooms, clean, good water pressure, wifi a bit slow. The location is great, next to many transportation options, bars with live music, convenience stores, restaurants and street food... Very lively at night.

Yelp
My first time staying at this hotel was surprising because of how well used the space was. The bathroom had a funky vibe with a window to the room. You can pull down a curtain but it was weird but at the same time I guess it is to make the room bigger. You will be surprised how small the bathroom is and how smart they use every inch of it :) The second time I spent there was a bit disappointing. The room was smaller and I didn't care because it was just for one night. But they didn't have basics as moisturizer. I guess I was staying on the wrong floor hahaha They still have the ipod to control the room. Waiting for an elevator can take a few minutes. Be aware to take one as soon as it comes. People will just jump in even if they weren't at the line. Super fast check out. Located at the middle of the party street. You can probably hear some laughter in the middle of the night.

Yelp
Quite possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Don't be fooled, they have Premium rooms and regular price rooms. The regular priced rooms look nothing like the pictures! Imagine bathrooms that have not been remodeled since the 70's with mold in the showers and peeling paint. My friends in my group saw cochroaches in their rooms on more than one occasion. In addition, this hotel is located in the area of town where there are prostitutes.

Yelp
Avoid. I stayed here during the electronics show because it was cheap. Lobby is nice but the first room had no AC and was a total shit hole to another room that was nicer but barely working AC. I had it set to 5deg on Max for 6 days and it never got below about 25. The only other spare room was the one I had moved out of. Great location with good bars and the best food ever within 2 minutes walk. Pay the extra and stay at the Luk Kwok 1 block over.

Yelp
See my check-in notes. Excellent location and price. Very clean and helpful staff. Especially good if you are on a budget.
