There are several 'notable' peaches one could name: we have The Peach Pit in the TV sitcom "Beverly Hills 90210", there's the peach emoji (and we all know what double entendre that holds), there's James and his big ole, giant peach and who doesn't love peach iced tea? For those who've taken notice in the SFV; there is another peach in town: Whata Peach (with respective locations in Studio City and Granada Hills). What exactly is Whata Peach?
The East Valley location of Whata Peach holds real estate near the intersection of Vineland/Ventura in the corner pocket of a strip plaza across the street from 7/11 (some parking is available behind the building and street parking but it can get tricky - read the signs!). Being near my Ralphs, I watched as Whata Peach transpired with its Instagram-able coral pink walls and 50s diner façade not yet knowing exactly what it was going to be - then learning it was a locally-owned healthy eats stand that serves up toast (avocado, ricotta with jam, etc), smoothies, acai bowls and coffee beverages. I'm a huge fan of smoothies albeit quite picky with flavors, textures, and ingredients. Thanks to Whata Peach making an appearance at Yelp's 818 event at Valley Relics; I was able to try a smoothie sample (I loved it!) which reinforced that I need to visit Whata Peach in person.
I arrived to another customer on a laptop on the 'patio' area giving Whata Peach a local coffee shop feel and a sign declaring that they are hiring. The female associate was training a younger teen girl so Whata Peach is obviously doing well enough that they need more employees. I was torn between two smoothie options (Peachy Lychee and Pink Dragon) and asked which was recommended. I ended up going with the suggested preference of the Pink Dragon (dragon fruit, strawberry, lychee, banana, agave, goji berries, orange - $9.85).
As mentioned, I'm very particular with smoothies but was immediately gratified with the large serving size cup and the beautiful pinkish-red hue of the smoothie. I knew this was going to be good! The texture is perfect: thick and not too icy like a slushie but not overly sweet like that famous chain with the J-J initials. Goldilocks would be pleased! But what about the flavor, you ask? PERFECT! The Pink Dragon was blended to an ideal ratio with each ingredient shining but not overwhelming the others. For instance, I actually hate bananas and only tolerate them in smoothies - luckily the Pink Dragon wasn't throwing banana flavor in my face! Whata Peach truly makes a fantastically divine smoothie which encourages me to try all the other flavors on the menu.
Whata Peach also delivers via the food delivery apps if you can't pick up your order so there is no excuse not to try a delicious smoothie!
Whata Peach is definitely a winner in the peach category and in the smoothie world so look for the pink walls and have a peachy day!
