I've lived in Texas since 1990, and Whataburger has been a part of my "Texas Experience". Great burgers, great service and great value.
Until, maybe 4 year ago, when I began to notice a marked decline. I'm not sure sure what to attribute it, but both the service and the food quality have fallen off, steeply.
It got so bad a few months ago, after a stop for what we thought was a quick pick-up meal at a drive thru off the Interstate, that i wrote to customer service. "30 minute waiting for an order that never arrived". We finally pulled out of the pickup line, went inside and waited another 30. We finally drove off without our food.
I got a formal "We'll call you in 48 hours" response, but that call never came.
A month later, on another long drive, my wife begged me to try them again. We pulled in the drive thru, ordered, waited 30 minutes, the pulled out before checking our order. It was completely wrong, much less than we paid for. We drove back, i walked in to find a group of four customers waiting at an empy counter. See my order in my hand, one of the ladies volunteered, "I've been here 20 minutes and no one has even spoken to me".
I take the bag they gave me, gave it to a homeless man, since no one in our family would eat the items we got.
I, of course, sent off another complaint. No answer at all this time, four days later.
Fooled me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. We're done. What the heck happened to these franchises?
