Whatley Manor

"With 15 rooms and 8 suites, this renovated and expanded 1920s hunting lodge immediately impresses, thanks to the gorgeous quality of its stonework—a father-and-son team spent two years just building the wall that lines the driveway. Upstairs, the comforts are decidedly more Mayfair than manor house, with sophisticated lighting, Bang & Olufsen TVs and sound systems, Floris toiletries, goose-down duvets, and pedigreed good looks by a who’s who of interior designers. That said, you’ll often be tempted out of your room here. Set in one of England’s loveliest corners, the hotel has a top-notch spa, two first-rate restaurants (one formal, the other more relaxed, with a wood-paneled ski-chalet decor), and a 40-seat cinema with claret suede walls and leather armchairs."

Whatley Manor Hotel and Spa (Malmesbury, Cotswolds) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Whatley Manor is a picture-perfect country-house hotel, one whose aesthetic may be slightly rustic owing to its Cotswolds setting, but whose hospitality is polished to a high sheen. It’s smallish, with just 23 rooms and suites, but each one is generously sized, and furnished to exacting 21st-century luxury-hotel standards. The sensibly named Dining Room offers the kind of culinary experience people drive halfway across England for; the more casual Grey’s Brasserie is also excellent. Further inducements include the Aquarias spa, as well as the hotel’s grounds, which contain seemingly endless gardens." - Tablet Hotels

Whatley Manor | Best places to stay in the Cotswolds

"Built for a party-loving millionaire in the 1920s, Whatley Manor has attracted the well-heeled from London and beyond since it opened as a destination hotel in 2003. With an award-winning La Prairie spa, Aquarias, and a double Michelin-starred restaurant, this is one of the area’s most upscale addresses. Set in 12 acres of grounds in idyllic English countryside, there are plenty of hearty outdoor activities nearby – including walking, cycling and horse-riding, but pack something elegant for the evening alongside fleece and walking boots – Whatley is all about good old-fashioned glam. We chose Whatley Manor for a special celebration—my furry friend's birthday! From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were delighted that they all knew my dog's name and were aware it was his special day. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was very spacious and comfortable. The room was immaculately clean, and the housekeeping staff were exceptionally attentive and efficient, ensuring our room was tidied up while we were at breakfast. The grounds were absolutely stunning and beautifully maintained by the gardeners. We had both breakfast and dinner at Grey's Brasserie, which was a fantastic bonus as it is dog-friendly. The food was lovely, although we found it to be a little too salty for our taste.

Really great service and food in a lovely location. Mid-size hotel in beautiful old classic Cotswold manor house. Nice gardens for a stroll. Very relaxing as is surrounded by farmers fields. Small plates restaurant was v good. Particular shout-out for the service which was friendly and welcoming.

I had a wonderful stay at Whatley Manor. The staff were truly exceptional—friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile. The food was outstanding, with every meal beautifully presented and full of flavor. The grounds are absolutely stunning, offering a peaceful and picturesque setting that's perfect for a relaxing getaway.||Service throughout our stay was top-notch—seamless and professional in every way. The spa, while enjoyable, could benefit from a bit of an upgrade to match the high standards set by the rest of the property. That said, it didn’t detract too much from an otherwise excellent experience.||Overall, a fantastic place to unwind with excellent service, great dining, and beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended!

Myself and a friend dinned here on Sunday since it has been on our list to try for a very long time and it was amazing. The Front of house staff were amazing and very knowledgeable, they made us feel very welcomed and relaxed from the second we walked through the door. The food was exceptional and great to see how sustainable the dishes were and how local some of the produce was. It was an amazing evening and I would 100% recommend.

My wife and I are currently staying here for a long weekend, some time away from our 2.5 year old son, with daughter due December this year, so a much needed break for my wife. The staff service is at a very high standard, the food is great - The Dining Room experience is a must. And the spa facilities are brilliant and well thought out. Big thanks to Neo for a fantastic massage too!||Lots to do in the surrounding area too. A must visit.

Visited Whatley Manor for a birthday treat for my wife. Whatley Manor is an exceptional place. We stayed in the lovely room 1. Set over 2 floors with 2 bathrooms. Yes it is pricey but really felt special and luxurious. The staff simply can’t do enough to make your visit memorable. We enjoyed the tasting menu on the Friday evening. It’s was just amazing, The kitchen made a bespoke menu for me as I don’t eat fish. It’s these little touches that made our visit so special. The spa is a just beautiful and a real oasis of relaxation. The hotel is surrounded but beautiful gardens and a lovely patio where you can enjoy a drink or a meal. The staff at the hotel are some of best I have experienced and are a real credit to the hotel. We will definitely return.

Whatley Manor Hotel and Spa advertise themselves as dog friendly. I've been to many so called dog friendly hotels but their not. Whatley truly is dog friendly. They can't do enough for our Great Dane dog. Couple this with the best hotel for luxury, comfort and customer service. The hotel and gardens are stunning. I can not recommend this hotel strongly enough to you all. To the staff at the fantastic Whatley Manor Hotel and Spa thank you. We will definitely be coming here again.

This is such a special, gorgeous and amazing place. We stayed Friday- Sunday and wanted to experience everything. Starting with afternoon tea which was delicious and served in a gorgeous grand room. We then headed to the spa, excellent facilities, enough people there for atmosphere but not overcrowded which was perfect. I had an amazing massage - lovely knowledgeable and attentive staff. We had dinner in greys that night which was fantastic, lots of choice, hard to choose and delicious food. The next night we had the tasting menu and it was faultless, such a special experience. The staff are very attentive, friendly, personal and they go above and beyond. Quick and efficient service. Beautiful gardens to walk through. The cleanest hotel I've ever stayed at, credit to the cleaning staff. 10/10. Can't fault it.
