Tasty ramen and fried rice. Takoyaki was so good we almost thought it was freshly made. Stir fry vegetables good too. Run by Japanese operators. Service and food was prompt on a busy weekday lunch hours. Oh, and I love their beautiful Japanese ceramic plates.

It's been a while since I've been here and I had forgotten how DELICIOUS their food is here! I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the rest of the ramen my family ordered, but what I can say is that they finished every last drop of their ramen orders! This is going to be a detailed review of the food, service, and atmosphere. Let's start with the atmosphere. The restaurant is a cozy place with table seating and bar seating. It gets packed really quickly during dinner time, but we came right before the rush. We were also flexible with seating and opted to sit at the bar. We were greeted by a happy & nice young lady. She seated us at the bar and got us all waters right away. She gave us enough time to choose our items and took our orders. The food was ready and served fairly quickly. My husband and I ordered the cold eggplant as our appetizer. It was amazing! The eggplant was perfectly cooked and the sauce nice a complimented all the flavors of the sweet eggplant. This was a cold dish and was so refreshing for a hot summer day. 10 out of 10 - would highly recommend. I ordered their cold ramen which is only available during the summer until the end of August. There was an option for spicy or now, and of course I opted for spicy! The ramen came with some pork char sui, soft boiled egg, and kimchi. Perfect combination! I sprinkled a little extra fine pepper flakes and it was the perfect level of spiciness for me. It appears that everyone else enjoyed their bowl of ramen because I was not able to take a picture of their food before they devoured it all! (Sorry!) 😬😁 I hope that they extend the summer ramen special until the end of September! It was so refreshing! I'm still dreaming about it....

Stopped by What’s Up Noodles in Fullerton for a mid-night bite with my brother – and it did not disappoint! We were warmly greeted by a kind, Japanese-speaking waitress who offered us both hot tea and water right away. Super friendly vibe. I ordered the Kara Miso Ramen. This was a rich and spicy miso broth with thick, chewy noodles, tender chashu pork, menma (bamboo shoots), bean sprouts, green onions, a perfectly soft-boiled egg, black garlic oil, and a spicy red chili paste ball that added just the right heat. My brother got the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen – a soy sauce-flavored pork bone broth with thin noodles, green onions, menma, a soft-boiled egg, and a sheet of nori (dried seaweed). Classic and super comforting. We shared gyoza – crispy pan-fried dumplings with juicy pork filling – and karaage chicken, which was juicy, crisp, and had a spicy marinade that packed real flavor. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served with a smile. Great little spot for late-night ramen cravings. Will definitely be back.

Service was pretty good, we got seated quickly without wait at 1pm weekday. I like that they provided free tea.

Google
Definitely recommended to try. Their Ramen was great 👌 I will come back for different order. Friendly and respectful staff, fair prices for the quality.

Google
Whole experience was great, there was a waiting list outside but it took less than 5 minutes to be seated. The waitresses were really nice and friendly. they were super quick like super quick. We got our food like 5-8 mins after ordering and when I wanted a refill on my water they did it in like 5 seconds. Food was great too!

This restaurant is fantastic. Even though the interior is tiny, and the tables are packed together, the place seems to be cozy. The menu looks very nice, and there are a lot of options. The waiter was very friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Sticks are wrapped in custom paper, and they also have custom plates. Everything is brought momentarily, and the portions are manageable. The tea was great. Both soups were delicious. Teriyaki chicken was fabulous. Curry was pretty spicy, but it has to be, so we enjoyed it. A type of place where five stars are more than deserved. Without a doubt a to-go place in Fullerton.

Yelp
The cold noodles here are absolutely delicious. They're only available in August, so you can only eat them now. ここの冷麺は8月限定 めっちゃうまいので、絶対食べるべし

Yelp
my cousin called in an order for pickup and they said it'd be done in 10 mins. when I got there, the order was ready & bagged up - I was surprised by how fast they were! the place is small inside but almost every seat was taken. 2 workers helped me - one greeted me at the door and took my payment, but he also had to wait on other tables. someone else came to give me back my card and I also asked about the ingredients used since my niece is highly allergic. she took the time to look through the menu and made sure there was no egg & milk in the broth, which I really appreciated! we also got vegan noodles for my niece i drove about 16 mins before eating it and it was still hot! I loved how the bowl separated the noodles/toppings from the broth, instead of having two separate containers! I ordered the kuro ramen w no green onions and subbed the pork chashu for chicken. it actually came w so much chicken I wasn't able to finish it all. the noodles were a good texture and the broth was rich and flavorful, but a bit too salty for my liking. I really enjoyed it nonetheless my cousin ordered the aka with vegan noodles and had the egg on the side since she was sharing w my niece. she loved the broth and the spicy sauce they used. I put some of it in my broth as well and it was a nice addition of flavor and spice! I see why this place has such good reviews and I'm glad I was in the area to try it!

Yelp
Great ramen place! Open late! Ramens, curry and lots of side dishes. Generous size portions and great quality. Open late. Reasonably priced small so prepare to wait a bit but worth it

Yelp
Good ramen place! Had th aka ramen and the takoyaki and they were both good! Service was really nice too!

Yelp
We went in after a CiF championship win for my son's team. We were hungry for something Asian & this place delivered one of the best ramen we had in a while. Me & my two sons all got our own & also ordered gyoza & spicy tuna. This place really hit the spot for us & we appreciated the friendly service. We also loved the cozy & Japanese ambiance.

Yelp
Best ramen I've had in forever. The spicy broth was key for me! Tasted amazing. Not too spicy either. The portion was a good size. I couldn't finish it myself and I was full to the brim. The inside is pretty small so I can see the wait being possibly long if this ramen spot gets popular at peak times. The service was excellent. I was there along with two other customers. I think they provide the same positive attentiveness when busy.

Yelp
Go to spot for ramen in Fullerton! Rich and delicious broth on the ramen and it comes with 2 pieces of chasu pork. The karage with lemon was a great addition to the meal. We also ordered the takoyaki and it did not dissapoint!

Yelp
Was looking for a ramen spot and What's Up Men came up with good reviews and pictures. Pulling up, it looked like it was closed, but the shades were just down because of the sun hitting bright. Parking wasn't too bad, but I could see it potentially being a pain because it is in a shopping center and shares parking spaces. As you approach the door, there is a little stand with a sign in sheet. This is used when the place is super busy. We got lucky that as we walked in, there were two tables available plus chairs at the bar. The waitress was very kind as was the hostess. We ordered our food and the food came out fairly quickly. The food itself was really good and it was a good amount as well.

Yelp
There are a lot of so called "Kock-off" Japanese restaurants in town nowadays but this place tastes legit. Most of the employees here are Japanese which is actually nice. I am not trying to sound racist at all, but honestly when I go to Mexican restaurants I would like to see Mexican people cooking, and same for Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese Italian, etc. I spent my childhood in Tokyo so their food here tastes rather nostalgic. If you want to enjoy authentic Japanese noodle and other Izakaya style items, this place is the one.

Yelp
Back again and it still hits exactly the same. This time I got the Kara ramen and it's still as fire as expected
google avatar

Kimberly B.

Yelp
Super small spot with great service! Broth is thick and creamy with perfect spice. The only thing that bugged me is that there is hardly any noodle, there's a lot more bean sprouts and toppings than noodle. But you can get extra free noodle or soda with an Instagram post or a Yelp review. Broth is a bit bitter compared to savory but still delicious.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I have been coming to this ramen spot for four years now, and it's easily one of our favorites. It's inside a really nice Walmart, and the service is completely free -- which blew our minds the first time! The ramen is always on point -- rich broth, perfect noodles, and fresh toppings. We've never had a bad experience here. The staff is friendly, fast, and makes you feel right at home. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and check this place out. 10 out of 10 every time.

Yelp
Finally a delicious Ramen place! My husband and I have been trying to find a Ramen place that actually lives up to its hype. Other places have been fine but just "ok" and nothing remarkable. We decided to try this one and we are both so glad we did! Location: right at the corner of State College and Chapman, hidden next to Pieology. It is small but easy enough to find parking! Ambiance: Inside is small and has a few tables. It is cozy and noise level is average. Service: Staff were very friendly and service was quick. We were immediately greeted when we arrived and servers checked to see if we needed anything during our meal. Food: I will start by saying I generally eat smaller portions, so finding places that offer a small meal that isn't a kid's meal is difficult! Many places will not allow adults to order the smaller portions off kids menus, so I end up wasting a lot of food or just not returning. Not here! I was thrilled to see their rice bowls are offered in half size! I ordered the half size chashu don and my husband ordered the Cha Ramen (a miso ramen). Chashu don- This was simple but tasty! Just white rice, a small bit of sauce, and a generous portion of thinly sliced chashu topped with sliced green onions. I would have liked a little bit more sauce, but I really enjoyed my meal. The meat was flavorful and tender! Cha Ramen- The broth was perfect! So rich and delicious. My husband really enjoyed his meal, the tender pork, and the egg was done right. We are really happy we found this place and will hurry back soon! Thank you for a tasty meal!

Yelp
Cane after a CSUF game because it was just around the corner from the school. This place is pretty good but nothing to write home about. The flavors are bold and they don't sit too heavy which is great. Great portions for the price. The service was good and fast. It's mostly tables but they have bar top for single parties and twos.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years. This has been a comfort spot for me since about 2018. I always order when I get the chance, whether in person or on Ubereats. The staff has always made it such a welcoming environment for me, and I've never been disappointed with my food, not even once. The food always comes out insanely quickly and while the restaurant itself is small, I've actually never had a problem waiting too long to get seated. I always order the Aka ramen with a side of Pork Fried Rice. I also like adding sriracha to make it even more spicier too. I love this place so much!

Yelp
Ohayo! Coming in to satiate my Ramen cravings (tonkatsu shoyu). Staffs are always awesome and the food is always spectacular! Highly highly recommended. A must try to those who haven't. ;D

Yelp
Came here with my Japanese vendor who always wants to take me to Mexican food. I told him "no" I want ramen and he jumped on it and said he would meet me at "What's up Men". What? I would love to know the story of that name. The place is small but clean and very nicely decorated. The ramen I chose, or should I say copied my vendor, was absolutely delicious. He said he loves this place and has been here many times but not in a while. Our service was fast. Heck; other than it was a guy I can't remember much of seeing or talking to him. After we placed our order, the ramen and combo item was out in minutes and the next thing I know, we're done. He did come fill our water glasses and asked us if we wanted dessert.

Yelp
Got the Cha ramen and it was super flavorful. Staff and ambience is also on point during the later hours after a long day, definitely would come back if ever in the area. Highly would recommend during the evening due to the late hours.

Yelp
I ordered the half bowl of Mabo Don and Chashu don, so that's what my review will be based off of. The Mabo Don is pretty good and has a good amount of flavor, but it tastes like the store bought packaging (but it still tastes good). The consistency of the sauce was slimey so if it was watered down a bit it would've been more to my preference but it's $6 and it's pretty good. The chashu Don was charred a bit which gave it a nice smokey taste and the meat was tender although not too juicy. Both dishes were very sold and I enjoyed them and the price was reasonable. The service was quick but there's also not that much seating. However that didn't pose an issue since when we went 4 parties went by in about 15 mins. Overall great experience.

Yelp
What Up Men Ramen in Fullerton continues to be my absolute favorite spot! The firm, al dente noodles are perfection, and the vegan broth is rich and flavorful, especially when topped with chili flakes, black garlic oil, and chili oil--a winning combination. It captures the authentic feel of Ippudo, but without all the fancy, over-the-top nonsense you find in the non-Japan-based branches. Simple, delicious, and consistently excellent. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place. Amazing food and great service. You can't go wrong with any items on the menu. They are the best!
google avatar

Cynthia P.

Yelp
Very yummy and flavorful ramen. You can really tell they use fresh and good quality ingredients. The pork chashu was very tender and not too fatty, just how I like it. The service was very nice and welcoming, as well as having a comforting and welcoming vibe in this tiny restaurant. They also offer many different types of appetizers as well that are very good!
google avatar

Isa T.

Yelp
"What's Up Men" is a solid spot for ramen. The dish comes with bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, chashu pork, and a side of boiled egg. The egg noodles have a satisfying, quality texture. While the portion size could be a bit more generous, it was still an enjoyable meal. I ordered the Kuro Ramen and added some spicy oil and herbs, which gave it a nice kick.
google avatar

Yelp
Came in for the Lunch combination. Aka Ramen and B combo. Fried rice is amazing! Service is always great here! Fast service and friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm Japanese so am picky about ramen but Ramen here is so amazingly good! I've been coming here for the last 2 decades and it has been always so good.

Yelp
Awesome ramen spot in Fullerton, a must try when in town, good vibe to eat, gyoza and takoyaki a must try
google avatar

Alyssa C.

Yelp
We decided to stop by after Disneyland and it definitely hit the spot! We got the spicy miso and kuro ramen and both were very flavorful and creamy! It's a little bit small inside but definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for a late night ramen spot!
google avatar

Isabella H.

Yelp
One of my favorite ramen shops in Fullerton! The service is lovely and the staff is always friendly here! The low lighting setup keeps me extra comfortable and I've collected some great songs from here. They definitely serve the authenticity they promote!
google avatar

Ricky C.

Yelp
This place has this post your ramen on Yelp, and the servers here giving me a hard time for a free soda. They're insisting that I need to write a review which is not on their rules. It only says to post your ramen and check in. Oh well, after eating here for almost 2 decades, their service going down the drain.
google avatar

Kayla A.

Yelp
Excellent lunch special, quick service and will definitely be coming back. I always try to find a good ramen spot for lunch and this is definitely worth your money.
google avatar

Cait M.

Yelp
Visited What's Up Men again after 3 years (first time since moving to OC) and it's still as good as I remember. Their tonkotsu is fatty and savory, and clings just right to the thin noodles. Try their new summer small plates -- the kakuni is to die for!
google avatar

Nicholas S.

Yelp
FOOD I've had the Aka spicy miso ramen twice and it's so consistently good! SERVICE Food always comes out real quick, less than 10 minutes. I love how the waiters and waitresses are always looking out for our needs. AMBIANCE Real small shop, music is nice, and it feels very homely in here.
google avatar

Roberto G.

Yelp
Love this place love their combos ! Ramen is amazing their fried rice is simply the best!
google avatar

S W.

Yelp
We came to What's Up Men for dinner and got the Kuro ramen, chicken teriyaki bowl and kimchi fried rice. The food was delicious
google avatar

David T.

Yelp
My wife and I came here because we were looking for good chicken karaage near her office I'm Fullerton. We ordered two orders to take with us to an outdoor concert later in the day. We did each try one when the chicken was still fresh. Wasn't even close to being a good chicken karaage. The chicken was tasteless and the oil it was cooked in seemed old. Come on would it hurt to put some mild seasoning in the batter before deep frying them. You really need to use good quality oil and change it regularly. No excuse since we visited them at noon and they were only open for one hour.
google avatar

Judid E.

Yelp
Food is delicious and service is outstanding! The Ramen is our favorite. Can't go wrong with any of their choices.
google avatar

Jay R.

Yelp
We both had the Aka Ramen and there is nothing I can say but perfection! We thought we were going to go out for the night but we decided to get ramen at 10 pm instead! 10/10 highly recommend, definitely will be back.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
Yummy! This place has fast ramen, but very unique offerings that you won't find at your average ramen joint!
google avatar

Evan C.

Yelp
Amazing service and the food is always so good. Sitting at the bar is always so nice to be able to watch them cook as well. Been coming here because I'm a student at CSUF and it always is so good for price and time wise, they are open late so even if I have a night class I can come here to eat.
google avatar

Diane L.

Yelp
Love the small ramen shop feel. There aren't that many tables or big tables so be prepared to wait. Servers were nice and very quick in putting in the orders. The noodles came out within 5 minutes of ordering. Smelled delicious and tasted pretty good. Just wish the pork was a little thicker or an extra slice of pork. It felt too little to me in comparison to other ramen shops. The Karaage was hot and flavorful. Super crunchy and came with kewpie mayo as the dipping sauce. Ended up ordering an extra noodle because my noodles were gone in a couple minutes. Would come back again. I can see why they have so many good reviews.
google avatar

Kayko W.

Yelp
Love the Kuro ramen, always the same quality, the portion is great, best ramen in town
google avatar

Yelp
Every bite you take, every spoonful of the ramen broth, I just close my eyes coz it's so good!!! The service is excellent. The staff are so accommodating, polite and very respectful. The place is just cozy and warm. Thank you what's up

Yelp
Always a great experience, food is always fresh! Go to place after work. Especially because they are open late! Always have good vibes when we come!
