The 19 Best Restaurants In Tooting

"The best thing about being in Britain is hypothesising that one day you might run into Olivia Colman at Tesco. The second best thing is eating a big, fat slap-up roast at the pub. The place to do that in Tooting is The Wheatsheaf, a cool independent pub with a feelgood atmosphere, cold pints, and a gravy-covered roast that makes us want to ghost Bisto granules forever. Throughout the rest of the week, you’ll find chorizo-packed small plates, quality pizzas, and tarted-up versions of pub classics. Plus plenty of gin cocktails you can enjoy in their back garden, complete with fairy lights and a big old disco ball. " - rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley, daisy meager, sinead cranna

The Wheatsheaf Review - Tooting - London - The Infatuation

"The best thing about being in Britain is hypothesising that you might one day run into Olivia Colman at Tesco. But the second best thing is eating a big, fat juicy roast at the pub. The place to do that in Tooting is The Wheatsheaf, a cool independent neighbourhood pub where there’s no funny business, only a feel-good atmosphere, cold pints, and a gravy-covered roast that makes us want to ghost Bisto granules forever. If you’re looking to go all out, the three meat roast with an extra yorkie order is where it’s at. Throughout the rest of the week you’ll find chorizo-packed small plates, quality pizzas, and tarted up versions of pub classics on their all-day menu, not to mention plenty of gin cocktails you can enjoy in their back garden, that’s complete with fairy lights and a big old disco ball. See, we said it was feel-good. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Heidi Lauth Beasley

The Wheatsheaf in Tooting is a solid favourite. The food is always delicious, with a great variety to choose from, and the garden out back is a really nice spot to relax especially on a sunny day. Friendly atmosphere and a great place to catch up with friends. Definitely worth a visit.

Stopped here on the off chance whilst walking the dogs. So glad that we did. Food was absolutely amazing and what really made it for us was our lovely redhead Will who served us throughout. Will definitely be coming back when we’re next down south

Right beside Borough Market, but this pub was really nice with a great vibe. Like the calm, beside the storm of the market outside. Really cool indie, rock music. And probably the best Guinness I had in London

Amazing food and fantastic service! Roast lunch was unreal, and great portion size. Richard welcomed us as soon as we sat down, he was speedy with drinks and food order, there was never any waiting around! He was super friendly, would recommend a visit

Came to The Wheatsheaf for a Sunday roast and left in the best kind of food coma. Went for the trio – chicken, pork AND beef – because why not? Everything was banging, especially the crispy roasties and giant Yorkie. Big love to our waiter Flynn – chatty, on it, brought us extra gravy (hero behaviour), and let’s be honest… also pretty fit. Made the whole experience 10/10. Already planning our next visit.

Ali, who looked after us, was so lovely, friendly and attentive. We were there on a Sunday for a roast dinner, which was delicious and beautifully cooked.

My husband and I have lived in Tooting for about 6 years and this is one of our favourite local pubs. Lovely interior, great food and atmosphere, good selection of beers on tap and wine, and staff are always friendly. More recently, our antenatal classes were also hosted at the pub which was very convenient. The food is slightly more expensive than other pubs but worth it - highly rate the Sunday roast & cauliflower cheese, and the fish & chips.
