Wheelcake Island Review - Shepherd's Bush - London - The Infatuation

"An island made out of a fluffy Taiwanese pancake is exactly where we’d rather be 95% of the time. Especially if it’s as good as the wheel cakes that can be found at this stall in Westfield. They’re a cross between a pancake and a bready cake, are made fresh daily, and filled with things like vanilla custard, chocolate, matcha, and oreo. The cakey outer layer is light and slightly salted, and complements the sweetness of whichever creamy filling you choose. You can go classic with the vanilla custard, but we love the chocolate vanilla and oreo flavours. They also have some limited edition seasonal options with things like biscoff or sweet pumpkin which are always excellent. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli" - Rianne Shlebak

FLUFFY CAKES FROM TAIWAN 🇹🇼✨ 📍 Old Spitalfields Market, London ⭐️ 5/5 💸 £ 🍴 If you’re wandering through Old Spitalfields Market and spot a cute stand with a line, you’ve probably just found @wheelcakeisland 👀 These pillowy Taiwanese-style pancakes are the ultimate sweet street food treat. Think fluffy, cloud-like cakes with molten fillings that melt in your mouth 💭🍰 I went for the chocolate one and WOW! Warm, gooey, rich and totally addictive 🍫 I was so tempted to try the classic red bean too, and next time I’m 100% going for the matcha as well 🍵 These little pockets of happiness are freshly made right in front of you, which makes the experience even better. Super affordable, super cute, and perfect for a sweet bite between market strolls. Definitely save this one for your next foodie adventure! 💜

These wheelcakes are a yummy and not overwhelmingly sweet treat. They are slightly crisp on the outside and the matcha custard is subtly sweet, not bitter and delicious. I would recommend and would come back to try the other flavours.

Stumbled upon Wheelcake Island during our mini-moon food tour in London and boyyy was I excites when I spotted it!! I love wheelcakes, obanyaki, imagawayaki, whatever you want to call them, I love them. Specially with adzuki(red bean). But I've since tried their custard and special seasonal flavours too like pumpkin!! All great. But red bean remains my favourite. Would recommend the trip, there are a few locations in London but this is the cutest!! I love the frog display so much 💚💖🙏

Was very good, a bit on the not so sweet side. Also had the drinks which was way better than a coffee shop but a little wait. The cakes where amazing we had to try all four. All was so tasty but our favorite was the chocolate one.

The staff were friendly and efficient. It was our first time trying wheelcake, I ordered chocolate and custard and my son had the special edition oreo one. They were warm and there was so much filling. The batter, a cross between pancake and a waffle, was delicious. My only regret is that we didn't buy more. We will definitely be back.

Hot and tasty cakes with amazing fillings. I went for the Custard one and it was straight from the hot pans. I've been wanting to try this for a while and finally was able to satisfy my cravings.

Tasty Taiwanese wheelcake treats available here. They're like soft thick pancakes with all types of fillings. I opted for the azuki red bean which was perfect, not too sweet.

I treated myself to a tasty little matcha custard wheelcake (it’s basically a stuffed pancake) while visiting Seven Dials Market. The wait time wasn’t too long.

Yelp
Pretty cool that they have the Taiwanese Wheelcake in this food court. They make them at their stand on the griddle, but it doesn't seem they're made to order. I got handed mine real quick; I'd actually be ok if it took a tad longer to make fresh from scratch. Bean: The classic. Nice crispy exterior. Fluffy cake underneath. And a subtle bean paste in the center. Vanilla & Chocolate Custard: A newer take on the wheelcake. Really enjoyed the creaminess. Also, I appreciate that I didn't need to choose flavors and could enjoy both a dollop of vanilla and a dollop of chocolate.

Yelp
I had one of these at Spitalfields Market and it was delightful. (I had the vanilla custard and Biscoff.) I've never had a tasty treat quite like this before - it was very unique, but also very lovely. I highly recommended as a fun snack to enjoy while out on the town :)

Yelp
I had a Matcha Wheel Cake that I really like since the dough was tasty without being too sweet.
