Where to Eat in Oklahoma City | Bon Appétit

"“The Gold Dome (1112 NW 23rd St) is a landmark on Route 66 that is an incredible piece of architecture...but has no real purpose. It isn’t occupied, but they will have events on occasion, like a weekend art showcase of young and emerging artists. Everyone in the city is obsessed with it, and it’s so striking that you can’t miss it. You can also stop by theWheeler Ferris Wheel(1701 S Western Ave) for a photo op. It was restored from the Santa Monica pier, and there are also hammocks, a bocce ball court, ping pong, occasional food trucks, an old airport track for criterium bike racing, and nice place to sit and watch the sunset around the wheel. People come from all over OKC to hang out here, even on a Monday night, but it’s busiest on the weekends.”" - ByAlyse Whitney

This is such a beautiful spot! They have great prices and passes for the wheel and really let you enjoy the ride and views. The workers are kind and look like they really enjoy their job, that makes me want to keep coming back, how you treat your staff is important! You could spend the whole day here, fun games, hammocks, occasional food trucks and live music or entertainment! Plus the night market on fridays makes it easy to support local artists and makers!

Google
Cutest spot to hang and relax! Everything is perfect! Hammocks. Ferris Wheel. Bocce Ball. Photo Op. Cornhole. Picnic Tables.

Google
Ferris wheel wasn't on or going. And the booth wasn't open. So I'm not sure how to ride the Ferris wheel. And there were kids on the damn sign, so I didn't get to take a picture of the letters and the experience. There was a person on every hammock. Nothing was available.

Google
Great place for date night, quiet, chill and the hammocks are super comfy and great place to relax with your SO..

Google
Wheeler Ferris Wheel at Wheeler District is a fantastic outdoor space for people of all ages. I enjoyed the beautiful views and free sports activities, and the Ferris wheel looked like a lot of fun. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Just be careful, as the entrance can be easy to miss!

Google
Has the OKC signage. Has hammocks. Has sports equipment to use and has corn hole to play with. Ample parking space. Has table and chairs for snacks to order. Good place to chill as it is by the river. See images and videos for reference.

Yelp
To visit this place best time is night time. The giant wheeler can be spot in a distance when it lighted at night. They close at 9 pm. Parking is free at the ground. It is great place to have the OKC sign that show you have been to Oklahoma City. The wheel does not many people at the spring time because the weather still cold for wheel goer. The store I front of the wheel serve ice cream and food. The seating areas are very nice. It has the swing seat.

Yelp
One of our favorite spots to being out of town visitors. A beautiful Park near the okc Riverwalk with a beautiful ferris wheel. There are hammocks, swings and an area for parties and just hanging out. We love Wheeler Park. A perfect place for daytime dates or picnics Also nearby to Bricktown and other major Oklahoma city tourist attractions

Yelp
Loved this park! So fun. And loved the hammocks. Lots of space to play ball or relax. And wonderful views of the city skyline. What a lovely spot.

Yelp
This area is beautiful. The Ferris wheel overlooks downtown and the OKC sign is right here. If you're in town you must stop by. The views are quite nice. OKC as a whole is super underrated and this is another reason to make the visit.

Yelp
Nothing like a good old fashioned Ferris wheeler ride! Such a great day brilliant sunshine, clear blue skies , and light winds!! I was there with my wife, daughter & 2 grandsons. With my wife and oldest grandson being totally afraid of going in the ride. Amazingly enough they thoroughly enjoyed the experience!! Took some excellent photos of the family and downtown OKC! Highly recommend doing this with the family!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to overlook the city and lots of open land to look at. I absolutely enjoyed myself and everyone there is so friendly which I adored.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a ball riding the wheel, relaxing in hammocks & playing yard games. We expected there to be more to do, but for what it is, it was fun.

Yelp
My son loved this park and the ferris wheel! It was so fun and he wasn't scared at all. We got the season pass bc it was very reasonable. Great view and very relaxing. Only slightly frightening with a fearless toddler

Yelp
Great date spot, staff is very nice view is next to none, me and my girlfriend enjoyed it.

Yelp
The place closed so were not able to hangout to take pictures or go on the ferris wheel.

Yelp
We had the absolutely best afternoon here! Mind you- we went on a Friday afternoon. We played games for days- corn hole, frisbee, catch with the football. We lounged in the shade hammocks and of course rode the Ferris wheel! We can't wait to go back at night!! Bring a picnic lunch and stay a while.
google avatar

Yelp
This park was so cool/- so peaceful- there is so much to do here from getting on the Ferris wheel to laying on the Hamic's under the tree! You can play games with the family from corn hole to football and soccer- everything was nice!! Even the bathrooms were very clean two
google avatar

Yelp
The Ferris wheel is pretty cool. This is probably the coolest thing at Wheeler park. The views are cool. You can sit at least 4 people in a bucket, so this is fun to do with another person or a couple extra people. I think going on the Ferris wheel is worth doing at least once. Try to go during a good time for views like sunset. This is a decent spot for part of a date. This is worth checking out at least once.

Yelp
We all had a blast and absolutely loved this place!! Wanted to wait until night for two reasons.... 1) no sun 2) the lights Definitely a must while your in OKC for sure!! They have drinks and snacks at great prices along with the ride passes too! You can reserve this private area if you wanted to have a party with a DJ, hammocks between all the trees, seating everywhere including the grass and it is right by the water! Great place to take pictures even if you do not want to ride the ferris wheel! Parking is free which is nice and they have bathrooms! They also have a giant connect four to play with and a few other games to keep everyone busy!
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the park Watched the Ferris wheel from Comfortable swing chairs, reasonable ride prices. a bit to sunny for us to lay in the hammocks today. OKC sign for photo ops. Nice, close stop after visiting the OKC memorial

Yelp
I can not get enough of this place! It is a wonderful place for a date, family time, a group get together, photographs and so much more! You do not even need to ride the Ferris Wheel to hang out. But, the ticket prices are very reasonable. Sometimes there is food trucks. Tonight they had Just Desserts, and it looked delicious From time to time there is activities going on. The staff is great! They are always helpful and welcoming. There are activities to do like throwing a football around, playing bocce, playing table tennis, corn hole, relaxing in hammocks and so much more. The photographs you can take while you are there are guaranteed to look amazing. I highly recommend checking this out!

Yelp
I came here on a Friday night and had fun! Enjoyed beers on The Big Friendly, a beer bus that was parked close to the ferris wheel, and then went for a ride on the Wheeler Ferris Wheel. I like how the area is a big open space and there are tables and hammocks nearby to rest on. The place is kid-friendly and adult-friendly as well. It's prom season, so a lot of high-schoolers were here that Friday night getting prom pics by the wheel, which was cool. There's a roofed area with a ping pong table and more tables to eat at. There's a wall with a mural on it to take pics by. The river is right next to the wheel, so you get a view of the river down below and the Oklahoma skyline ahead. The OKC sculpture is fun to climb and take pictures on, you get the ferris wheel in the background for your pics. I think I even saw a couple getting their engagement pics here that night. This is the perfect place to go on a date for drinks before/after dinner, and to hang out with friends on Summer nights. It closes at 10 pm, so after an early dinner would be good too if you want to see the wheel light up at night!) I think sunset was the best time to go and the weather was perfect. Prices: One-time pass Single- $6 All-day pass Single- $10 Season Pass- $20 (great deal if you plan to go a lot this Spring + Summer!)

Yelp
This is a hidden gem if you live in OKC! Free parking and free to just hang out. If you want to ride the Ferris wheel ( which is the original one from Santa Monica Pier) who must ride with at least another person--so I joined a family . Quite a few free outdoor games and places just to sit and relax.
google avatar

Yelp
A unique experience for OKC. Fun vibe, nice views. Great thing to do on a date night or just for a relaxing summer evening.

Yelp
The first time I went to the Wheeler District in Oklahoma City I knew I had stepped into one of my new favorite hangouts in the city. The old Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel made its debut in Oklahoma City a few summers ago and since then I have loved going there with my friends and family. The tall structure is colorful and lined with twinkly lights. To my surprise I walked right up to the gate, boarded the ferris wheel and started my adventure to the top. My family rode to the top with me and it was such an incredible experience, I purchased another ticket the same night so I could ride the ferris wheel once again. The Wheeler District has a perfect view of the skyline of Oklahoma City. It is right on the river, which makes the ride on the Wheeler Ferris Wheel breezy even in the summer heat. The ferris wheel is great for a date night, celebration or even just a night on the town. The Wheeler District sells T-Shirts and other merchandise on the property to remember your experience for years to come! The Wheeler District hosts multiple food trucks a week. This is a great way to grab some dinner or dessert and take a joyful ride to the top of the giant ferris wheel. They have also have hammocks around the ferris wheel so you can hangout for hours. Food trucks like The Big Friendly and Sno' Smore are regulars at The Wheeler District. They provide beverages and snowcones to customers. Grab your tickets and head to The Wheeler District TODAY before it closes for the Winter in a little over a month!

Yelp
The Ferris wheel was smaller than I thought but still nice and great that we could take our whole family on it (two littles, 3 y/o and 7 Mo old). The area could use a few updates on the games and such they had out. I thought it was a nice add until we realized they were all in bad shape. The hammocks were nice and taking a pic with the OKC sign and Ferris wheel in background was nice.

Yelp
Don't go if you're a 'single' rider. I was walking along the river on a Tuesday night at sunset and decided to stop and take a ride. I was turned away because I didn't have another rider with me even though it was a week night with many empty baskets. I wallowed around in one of their hammocks for awhile and had a lovely evening nevertheless. I'll go back when I'm accompanied. It's been explained to me that it's a rule by the manufacturer and the state has to enforce it.

Yelp
we had beckett, he was amazing! definitely deserves a raise he was so sweet and made it all so enjoyable

Yelp
This is a cool area. There is a pavilion where people can set up for food. I actually came for the Indian Festival. There was plenty of seating, Sno-Cones on site in a food trailer and a place to buy tickets. There's plenty of sidewalks intermixed with green space. I didn't like the gravel parking lot. Overall, it has a lot of potential

Yelp
My 7 year old son and I had a great time at the Wheeler Ferris Wheel and accompanying park on a Saturday morning. We were there for a birthday party. There is a covered area with 4 or so picnic tables and a ping pong table. It was nice to have such a large shaded area. I think you have to reserve the tables for parties, but I am not sure about that. The party was early (9 AM) so we were the only ones at the park in the beginning. However, by 10 more people had arrived and by 11 it was humming. Tip if you do have a party of some kind at the Ferris Wheel: booze is not permitted. We had brought supplies for some early beermosas and were told politely that alcohol was not permitted. There is plenty to do at the park in addition to the ferris wheel. There are several games for kids, a bunch of hammocks for chilling, and the famous OKC sign for all of your picture taking needs. There is a small snack bar with bottled drinks and a couple of things to eat. The prices seemed a little high, but not outrageous considering you are at a cool park and not a grocery store. If you want a large meal I would bring food, there's not a ton available. There are also restrooms, although we did not go in them so I cannot opine on the cleanliness. The ferris wheel is the main attraction, and for good reason. It goes pretty high and you can get a great view of the city in all directions. The entire ride takes between 6 and 7 minutes. It also does not move fast. We had several kids ride it, ages 1-7 years. None of them had issues with the height and all enjoyed it. The compartments are decently comfortable and can seat several people. They are also sturdy, we never felt unsafe throughout many rides. The pricing is $6 per a single ride ticket, $10 for a day pass, and $20 for a season pass. When my son first rode it, he was a little scared so I did not know if he would want to ride again. So, I only bought the single ride ticket. Of course he loved it and we probably went on it 5 more times. So, after that first ride when it was confirmed he liked it, I went back to the window and asked if I could have the day pass, with the price of my single ticket subtracted. The answer is yes, that was their policy. Clearly I am not the only one who had this issue. Great customer service. The employees were friendly and I saw them on more than one occasion cleaning various areas of the park. Glad they are maintaining it properly. We will definitely be back, I will want to check out the view at night. This is a great start to what I've read is going to be a significant revitalization of the Wheeler District. OKC needs more places like this, recommended.

Yelp
Love coming out here to love on OKC! I've only taken pictures on/around the sign, but I'm looking forward to riding the ferris wheel and seeing the OKC skyline. So proud of this city! #embraceokc

Yelp
A great place for families, dates, or just hanging out. We saw the Ferris Wheel off of the 40 freeway a few times and kept saying we would go. My 4 year old son kept pushing for us to go and we finally did. The park it self has an old board walk feel to it. They have all of these classic board games, ball and other cool toys to play with. The Ferris Wheel is fun and gives you great views of the city. The only thing that I found disappointing was that there is no good food. The food that was being sold there wasn't tasty at all and they need some good food.
google avatar

Brice L.

Yelp
Not much out there so make sure you have plans for after your short ferris wheel ride.

Kelli A.

Yelp
the ferris wheel operators, trina and beckett were so kind! they really made the experience more enjoyable!

Lock R.

Yelp
Best experience we had here. Family-friendly, plenty of open space, nice breeze all over the place with the option to buy ice cream and hot fast food. We love hammock time with family. Simple but the great arrangement with little to no expense for fun for the family.
google avatar

Ivy J.

Yelp
This place is located right next to the river. It is a nice place to have a picnic and hang with the family. There's balls to kick around, hammocks to lounge in, picnic tables to eat on. There's restrooms, a little snack bar that sells snacks and souvenirs. The Ferris Wheel is huge and for 6 dollars you get to stay on it for a good amount of time. That was the longest Ferris wheel ride I've ever been on. Other then that there's really not much to do other than ride the Ferris wheel and enjoy the outdoors. I know they have food trucks that service this place every now and then, I just wish it was a regular thing. I think it would add more to the area if it was. Not to mention, that big OKC sign that makes for awesome pictures is located here too. I'd recommend this place for a nice picnic or for pictures!!

Yelp
I actually can't comment on the Farris wheel itself because I didn't ride it, however the overall atmosphere was wonderful. My husband and I went on a bike ride Saturday and stopped by this wheeler district on our way back to the boat house. It was such a lovely day outside, and the Ferris wheel looked absolutely beautiful accompanying the Oklahoma city skyline. All the facilities were so nice and clean, and I loved all the activities that they offered. They had a large lawn with lawn games available for families. They also had a little pavilion with picnic tables and a ping-pong table. Plenty of seating for anybody who would like to sit outside, along with concession stand drinks, snacks, and some really cool T-shirts. One thing I would note, is that I don't believe they have any fans in the pavilion and when we sat in there; it seemed to almost be hotter since there wasn't any breeze. My husband and I would love to come back in the evening to see the Ferris wheel lit up on a nice evening. I think it is a great little addition to our city, and I will bring any out of town guests by to spend the evening there!
google avatar

Bea D.

Yelp
Such a beautiful park...the ferris wheel is only $6 or $10 for all day. Picnic tables, ping pong, footballs, bocce ball, soccer balls and hammocks are free. Very clean and family friendly with the river and skyline of OKC in the distance. Gorgeous, fun, and relaxing.
google avatar

Steffanie R.

Yelp
As someone who actually rode this things YEARS ago when in was on the SM Pier, I can attest that the views may not be as good but the service is top notch. I love everything that they do here. Fun events for literally everyone. Yoga, pop up shopping, food trucks, sadly no more beer trucks (my husband was sad about that. they also have games all over, 2 bocce courts, and hammocks. Cant wait for them to open up again in the spring.
google avatar

Martha N.

Yelp
We visited on a rare, gorgeous-weather Friday night this summer. Nostalgic music set the mood for a mellow evening. Several large hammocks for relaxing...or what I imagine as relaxing if your kids aren't trying to flip each other out onto the dirt. There were lawn games, soccer balls, etc for impromptu games on the grass. Friendly, diverse crowd - young families, grandparents, teenagers, lovebirds on dates. We enjoyed our beers while sitting inside the adorable open-air beer bus. We waited until sunset to ride the Ferris wheel. The spacious gondolas felt secure and I overcame my fear of Ferris wheels while enjoying the beautiful view. The ride felt lengthy and worth the $6. The kids ended the night with yummy snow cones. So much fun!

Yelp
My husband and I got married here last year and I cannot say enough good things about the staff and venue! The staff was so helpful and quick to answer any questions. We had no issues day of and I can't thank them enough for that! The grounds are always clean and well manicured. It's such a cool spot and I'm glad we have this in OKC!
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
Fantastic place to visit, simple, cheap and bags of fun. If you live in OKC you have to ride the wheel, just to say you did it
google avatar

Haley K.

Yelp
I love this place! I am so glad Oklahoma is really trying to invest in cool little locations/venues like this. The fact that it is on the river trail is great, since I ride my bike often and it's a great place to stop. They have recently added hammocks which makes the place even more chill. I hope they continue to add to this little gem! So far, it's a fun little spot to hang out and take pictures of the OKC with skyline.

Julie W.

Yelp
The ride was way too quick for the amount of money spent. The two person hammocks were UHMAZING, best thing about the park! Very romantic park. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
Awesome! We loved the Ferris Wheel, the food trucks that were available and the fun hammocks to lay in! Staff was friendly and the ride was beautiful especially @ night.
google avatar

Becky H.

Yelp
I think the amount of time you're on the ride is well worth the money. The view is beautiful at sunset or even after dark. The staff is friendly and it's not too long of a wait. They have ping pong tables, corn-hole, soccer balls and other activities for free as well. We have really enjoyed the ferries wheel and playing around every time we have been there
google avatar

Nic K.

Yelp
This is a great place for doing really anything lots of different interactions to be had, there are many future plans happening that are for sure to be perfect for anyone
google avatar

Victor H.

Yelp
Great date night spot. I love the new additions of swinging hammocks and beer trucks on Friday nights. My only complaint is the lack of activities on site. Add more tennis tables and interactive games for families.
google avatar

April K.

Yelp
What a neat attraction for OKC! The price is reasonable and we opted for $20 season passes because our daughter loves it! Have been during the week, on Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. The only time there was a line was Saturday evening and even that wasn't too bad

Dance M.

Yelp
Very quaint and quiet. No long lines when we went. We got to relax as the kids played with different activities. The Ferris wheel was not scary at all. Would definitely recommend.
