"The Wheeler Opera House has held events since 1889 when it became the original performance venue in Aspen. Named after the same developer, Jerome B. Wheeler, the building also offers tours, both guided and unguided. You can tour it for free each Wednesday at 1:30 PM." - MATADOR_NETWORK

I went with my girl friend to see a Queen tribute and we really enjoyed it. The theatre is really nice and everything's clean. The bad thing was that we couldn't take any videos of the show, but besides that it was great.

Wonderful historic venue. Aspen history on display. Would highly recommend the tour offered by the Aspen Historical Society.

It is the Wheeler Opera House. Great venue, great sound, and you will not forget why you came to this venue. The pride in appearance is obvious amd apparent from Will Call to the floor beteween the seats. You need to treat yourself to simply any kind of show here. And, I mean, you are in Aspen. Expect and enjoy the best.

Was much more intimate than I thought which was great! Not a bad seat to be found! The bar and coat check were closed the night we were there and not sure why?

A historical building that has been renovated into a beautiful theater. We went to a comedy show and was super impressed with the sound and line of sight in every position of the auditorium. The woodwork in this venue is well done, keeping the authenticity of the original opera house, but restored to satisfy today's tastes. The stage is located on the third floor of the building, with a bar on second floor. I believe attached is a restaurant as well.

Exquisite inside this old building in the heart of downtown Aspen. Physics institute provides interesting lectures here. Check out there website.

Lovely older theater, the best kind. Came here for the Banff Mountain Film Festival world tour. Comfy seats, lots of stairs to get to the seats so consider your ability to climb stairs, or look for the elevator. Sturdy rails.

Yelp
Ugh! I hate the idea of even writing this review, but I am not even going to get to see this place. I ordered tickets online (BTW - their online ticket ordering system is a little dated) and was really excited for the show "Vaud and the Villains". My wife and I are heading up next weekend for our honeymoon. Well, turns out I ordered online and had the wrong date which was totally my fault. I received a really nice "we look forward to seeing to you tonight" email this past Saturday just to realize I had the wrong day. Within minutes of receiving the email I called, emailed and called again to get someone on the phone to talk to. I did receive a call back on Saturday within an hour (guess they get the obligatory 1 star for that). They left a message saying I was out of luck, but if I am in town next weekend they have available shows that I can pay for and see. Booh! Well, I just gave you $65 for free. Why do you want to take my money, then take more for me to see a show? I don't think so. The offer was in poor taste.

Yelp
Wife and I decided to go to a John Denver tribute concert after meeting Rory Young, who was nice enough to take some photos for my wife. Unbeknownst to her he's an actual professional photographer! He told us about the concert and here we are. Love Aspen, most of all the friendly people. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
What a beautiful opera house! Why go to a stale, boring theater when you could enjoy a movie here. And they have great taste in their selection of movies. Just saw An Education here last night. My boyfriend and i were late, so we ended up in the balcony, which was perfectly fine for our viewing pleasure. The chandelier hanging overhead was stunning, along with the lush red interior. Plus they sell a bag of pretzels for $1! Thinking of going back tomorrow night to watch Broken Embraces. Definitely worth the experience for $9 a movie!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! Would recommend this to anyone even slightly interested in a show. Attended the New Years Eve event, the ladies serving drinks were very nice. Marc Broussard was phenomenal. Great evening. Quiet ambiance in the back so that a group could socialize for a while before heading into the show. All around great experience!

Yelp
I spent a lot of time here during the Aspen Shortsfest. It's a gorgeous old theater, with great acoustics (at least for the short films I saw there.) I'd avoid sitting in the balcony, though. I made that mistake once and ended up with my knees in my nostrils for two hours.

Yelp
I just came back from the worst film festival I have ever attended. The quality of the short films was an insult to our intellegence. Poor plots, poor themes or no themes, and terrible acting. Take your $13 and enjoy a hamburger somewhere. How can this opera house serve up this trash and expect anyone to come back? I feel bad for the sponsors like Saab automobiles that stuck their neck out and were let down. The only good thing about the films is that they were short. I hope that I can save some of you from experiencing what we had to endure.

Yelp
The Historic Wheeler Opera House is a marvel. It was lovingly restored after a major fire. It opened officially on April 23, 1889 in the then silver camp of Aspen. Colorado. Jerome B Wheeler, part owner of Macy's in New York wanted to make Aspen a haven for culture. The famed Lily Langtree once sang here. Today it is the venue for everything from the US Comedy Arts Festival (HBO) to Nobel Physics lectures and high school plays. What ever you go to see at the Wheeler will be enhanced by the wonderful ambiance. Be sure to check out the elaborate hand stenciled decorations and huge crystal chandler.

Yelp
This place is BEAUTIFUL! I went here for a movie screening and it was great! The screen is huge and the stage is small enough where you can see everything even from the seats in the back. There are two levels, a bottom level and a top level. The place is absolutely gorgeous and reminds me of those olden day opera houses! I would definitely come back here again next time I visit Aspen!
