I am writing this review with very conflicted feelings. I really wanted to love Wheelhouse. The menu and interiors were great and we were so excited for a new, cool restaurant near us, however the food was good, if on the expensive side. I think what has made me reflect on our visit and likely NOT return was the mandatory 20% gratuity added to our bill - we were a party of two. We were told that this was added so that all the staff could be paid a fair wadge. I understand the importance and need for a fair wadge but we are already paying $25+ for a main (mine was $27 and my husbands $31), should the responsibility not fall on the restaurant owner...? I did receive good service, but excellent, no. Tipping should be left to the discretion of the patron. I can see a lot of people visiting Wheelhouse once and leaving with the same feeling we had, conflicted. I hope they change their policy and allow diners to tip as they feel, the way tipping is meant to be.
