On the Grid : The Whippet Inn

Finding a good roast is London is pretty easy. But finding a sensational roast in London, that's difficult! A few months ago, we passed Whippet Inn, and I saved it under my "want to go." So, we went. The portions were huge and full of flavour. Rarely do you get a beef roast and say, "That's a lot of beef." There were a lot of vegetables, a good amount of gravy, and a large Yorkshire Pudding. No complaints. Everything was on point. Then, the sticky toffee pudding. I have a massive sweet tooth and could have eaten five of those. That was one of the best I've ever had. I couldn't recommend Whippet Inn enough. The Veggie roast was also very good too!

Amazing experience at the Whippets Inn for a Sunday roast. Food was lovely , has no faults. And our waitress Madeleine was wonderful, so polite and efficient. Will definitely be coming back !

This was the first place I stopped into once I got into London for the first time and when I say I would recommend this place to anyone I mean it. Jazmine, Robert, and Maddy all made me and my friends feel so welcome and at home with the best service and recommendations for our trip. The fish and chips are amazing, and their lamb roast dinner on Sundays is incredible. I'm from the US and had never had a British roast dinner and it was the perfect introduction, alongside the cauliflower cheese that Maddy recommended. We also tried the toffee pudding and when I say it's to die for I'm not exaggerating. In terms of drinks, I've had the espresso martini, passion fruit martini, and Aperol spritz, and they're all amazing. We also did the pub quiz on Sunday night and had the best time. The casual but classy environment mixed with top notch service and food makes this the perfect spot to become a regular and mix with the locals if you're visiting. I've gone 4 days in a row now, and I will certainly be going back while I'm still here!

Tonight was the second night I visited the pub in a row simply because I’ve had such an enjoyable experience the first time around. First of all, the food is amazing. Speaking as an American, the food was a great way to get acquainted with classic British pub food. Their fish and chips was perfectly cooked and was a great portion. Tonight my friends and I split the lamb Sunday roast for three and it was simply amazing. We added on some cauliflower cheese and enjoyed every bite. The lamb was so tender and flavorful without a hint of gaminess. I was also a big fan of the roasted potatoes and yorkshire puddings. My second favorite aspect is the ambiance. The clientele at this establishment is a mix of young and old, local and visiting. It’s a great place to strike up a conversation with someone new. We did the pub quiz tonight which I believe is hosted every Sunday evening starting at 7:30 PM. It’s a great place to grab a meal, sip on a drink, and just chat with friends. I think my overall favorite part of this establishment would have to be the staff. Every employee I’ve come into contact with has been immensely helpful and hospitable. Their service is attentive and intentional and they really made me and my friends feel at home. Specifically, Jazmine and Robert have been wonderful people to chat with and have made London such a blast. I can not recommend this place enough!

We came here on a Saturday afternoon and sat in the garden. Food wise:- good portions, tasty and quick. The fish and chips, chicken schnitzel and burger all unreal. I do think the schnitzel should come with a side for the price. Service:- We were served by an older gentleman, he was ok but tends to appear quite fed up and not very warm. In the past if we have had drinks/food he has been the same, quite cold and stand off-ish. Any other interactions with other staff were nice just felt with him like you were a bother to his life. Ambience and vibes is lovely, such a good sun spot but also if it starts to drizzle they do put the cover over. Music could be a little lower volume wise outside especially before 8pm! Sticky toffee pudding was nice, a little less sauce though.

I’m here to put a word out for someone that I really impressed me. The manager or duty manager of today Sunday 5 October 2025, what a warm welcome to a group of 12 with a cake that had just been chocked out from a nearby Brazilian restaurant because our booking run out. The staff were friendly, helpful and absolutely sympathetic. We were allowed to buy drinks and have our cake. Really nice manager, I saw him looking after his customers and staff without stopping. Many, many thanks for accommodating us. A gem of pub, thanks to its staff!!

I went there with my husband for Sunday roast, we both chose the beef one and Elisabetta suggested to add the cauliflower and cheese on the side! Everything was delicious! Staff is very friendly and Elisabetta booked for us the best table, she made a real Italian coffee at the end for the meal too!! Grazie mille!

Had the best Sunday roast dinner with the kindest server, Savannah. We enjoyed watching the hardworking chefs prepare our meal. Thanks for welcoming us! Great ambience and we shall be back!

Yelp
The Whippet Inn was a fantastic find during my visit in Kensal Rise. Had a great plant-based dish that I was wanting to try and they also have an extensive custom drink menu. The gin and tonic was served in a personal-sized bottle of Franklin & Sons tonic water so you could adjust the level of tonic yourself - we don't have this in the States so that was cool. A must try. Perfect for date nights and Sunday roast.

Yelp
Top place! We went on a Thursday evening after making a booking for a meal, we arrived early for a quick drink which we found really relaxing to start the evening off. Then the meal... Amazing. Great service, amazing food and great atmosphere to boot. We'll be back!

Yelp
This is a local for me and my friends and it does its thing very well. Cosy, nicely decorated gastro pub with a tasty and reasonably priced Sunday roast, and a decent wine list. I like coming here for both drinks and dinner, holing up in a booth at the back and spending a very pleasant evening. There's also a garden out the back with heaters, though I haven't been out there. The service is always very pleasant and attentive. It doesn't blow your mind, but for the price point it's one of the better gastro pubs I've been to and I'll keep coming back.

Yelp
This place never fails to impress. I've eaten/drunk there over 10 times now and always have a good time. Food is excellent & well priced. Brilliant roast on a Sunday. Loads of good board games to entertain my son. Lovely attentive staff. Great decor. Nice outdoor areas front & back. Feel really lucky to have this at my local.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food here. The flavours are like an explosion in my mouth. My first time after driving past so many times. Loved the name as I love to "whippet in" all the time. It's actually a breed of dog but the food here is anything but dog food. Well worth the cost!

Yelp
We loved this place! The ambience was great and the service was fast. Our food was delicious and the Tuesday night special (special entree with a half pint for 10 pounds) was a good value. Would highly recommend! Best meal in Britain so far.
