Best Restaurants in Round Rock, Texas | Eater Austin

"Enjoy American and New American dishes from the Round Rock location of the chain restaurant — think whiskey-braised beef and rotisserie chicken — plus craft cocktails, especially so many whiskey and bourbon sippers. DoorDash deliveries can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Darcie Duttweiler

Texas Chain Restaurant Whiskey Cake Kitchen Opens in Round Rock | Eater Austin

"I learned that Plano-based Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar is opening its first Austin-area location in Round Rock at 2600 North I-35 starting Tuesday, September 13. The Texas-American menu will be served for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch and features dishes like goat cheese fondue, candied bacon, chicken tenders and malted waffles, burgers, croque-madames, carrot cake pancakes, and the namesake whiskey cake — a stick toffee cake with a bourbon crème anglaise, spiced pecans, and whipped cream. The restaurant will have a garden supplying cocktail garnishes, a whole whiskey collection, an on-site retail market with local producers, and will donate half of its proceeds from its first day of service to the nonprofit the Dog Alliance. Hours are listed as 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Monday–Thursday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.–11 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday." - Nadia Chaudhury

I've been wanting to visit this place for awhile and we finally were able to come out and enjoy this place. When we first came in we were hit with a beautiful rustic interior. Very suitable for date night and the design really suits the restaurant as well. We were then sat and greeted by an amazing and kind server. Her name is Rhiannon. She had amazing recommendations and suggestions and made our night amazing. We got a couple of appetizers, we got the Goat cheese fondue(4/5), Brussels Spouts (5/5) and Crab fritters(2/5) the Crab fritters came out with 5 little balls and some sauce. they were a little fishy and for $16 it just wasn't the best and pretty pricy in my opinion. then for our entrees we got the Shrimp Rigatoni(5/5), and the French Onion Burger (4/5). We also got a side of mac and cheese and that was hands down the best mac and cheese we ever had. We also had 5 different cocktails which were all great and for a good price too!! We also got the Dude where are my car keys(i think) whiskey flight. All the drinks were amazing and for a fair price so this is a new favorite spot for us. And we finished off with their Whiskey cake with Honey Bourbon ice cream. I honestly hate cakes in America since they're usually very dry. This was the most delicious cake i've ever had in my life and it made sense to me why they named the restaurant after the cake. Overall we had an amazing experience and we will for sure be back and hope to be served by Rhiannon every time.

Where do I even start?? 10/10 across the board! Went for dinner after a long trip and new to the area, and WOW. Staff: Incredible service and attentiveness from Skye, our server. She made suggestions and introduced us to a few of the specialties on the menu we would have overlooked, otherwise. The other staff that we spoke with upon arrival and when we left, were incredibly helpful and so kind. Food: The food was AMAZING! We chose from two different areas of the menu and were so pleased with the taste and textures in each bite! I got the crabcake as a meal and my husband got the Prime Rib and Gouda stack. His was perfectly put together, so the different pieces of the sandwich weren't hanging out for some bites and non-existant for others. The crabcake came with a small bottle of the house hot sauce, and man, oh man! It was amazing. I'm from North Carolina, and we can be snobs about seafood, and having access to it fresh pretty often. This was so good, I would have never known I wasn't eating with an ocean view! Drinks: Our server, Skye, wasn't happy until I was completely satisfied with my cocktail choice. Upon arrival she suggested something for me based on my likes. When it came and was too tangy, she was quick to insist I chose something else. My husband got a whiskey flight and was tickled to have so many options. Skye was knowledgeable and helped him select more once his top choices were made. Atmosphere: I loved the coziness of the restaurant from the moment you walk in. The lights are more dim, with real candles glowing all over the place! It is romantic without really even trying. The bar across the back of the restaurant has a beautiful display of whiskey all the way to the ceiling! I can't wait to come back to try brunch! Well done, Whiskey Cake! Well done!

Visited to celebrate a birthday. The Chili was excellent, and the Grilled shrimp rigatone was the winner. Tasteful and the perfect proportion. We had the Whiskey Cake for dessert, a must-have. One side note: the background music was not overpowering. We could sit and have a great dinner conversation without being blasted out. So nice!

WOW! It is not easy to really impress us but today Whiskey Cake did just that! We just moved back to Texas a few days ago and decided to try something new. Starting with the greeting from the hostess to our amazing servers (Melissa and Victoria) we could not have asked for anything better. They gave wonderful recommendations that lead to the best meal we have had in years! The fried green tomatoes are fresh and full of flavor. The shrimp and grits were seasoned perfectly and the wilted greens and fresh tomatoes added the perfect burst of freshness. However, as good as everything else was it was the Whiskey Cake for dessert that stole the show! I rarely ever do dessert because I just don't have a sweet tooth but I will order this ever time we come. I can't even come up with the words to describe how amazing it was. It's one of those rare moments when you take a bite and immediately close your eyes and smile! We will probably be here weekly. Thank you for the wonderful welcome home!!!!

Went here recently for on office party and can only say I am thankful I didn't have to pay the bill. While the place looks nice and the staff was pleasant and helpful, it was an overall negative experience. The noise level was so high it was hard to hear the person next to you the entire time we were there. The food was okay, but not worth the price. Especially when what is supposed to be a primarily steak offering ended up being 2/3 "fries" and a tough piece of steak. Even the lack of sufficient parking was an issue gor several of my coworkers. This definitely not a place I would consider spending my own money on and won't recommend it to anyone I know. Save your money and find some place better if you want steak.

Great food and service! Came in for a late lunch by myself so I sat at the bar. I ordered the chicken and waffles and a margarita. The portion size was plentiful. The chicken tenders were very well seasoned and the syrup was warm which I greatly appreciated! Over $40 for a one person lunch is a bit pricey but I had a great experience!

Amazing lunch once again. We Split a Rubin sandwich with fries. We stated we would like to split our meal and it was delivered on two separate plates with no issues. Sandwich was juicy and NOT full of fat! We had the over proof mixed drink, was great not over powering with pineapple. The Brussels are to die for. Crispy, sweet, fully cooked through so you are not crunching on a veggie rock. They top it with possibly 1000 island dressing 10 out of 10!

There were plenty of parking spaces available. The whole restaurant, outside and inside has a sweet home relaxed environment. The service was attentive, friendly and the waitress didn't miss a beat. She was so prompt that we didn't have to ask for a single drink refill, a to-go box or even the bill. She kept us informed on our drinks and plates, poured out water for us and everything was beautifully presented to us. The food was beyond delicious and was freshly made! The mixed drinks were smooth, mixed well and tasted as delicious as the food. We definitely enjoyed ourselves!
