It’s Manhattan Season — Here’s Where to Order One Around Tampa This February | Eater

"When trying to decide on a dinner spot after a long day of shopping at International Plaza and Bay Street, the options can be overwhelming. But only one place in this mall’s restaurant row offers a selection of whiskey so big it requires staff to use a ladder. That’s Whiskey Cake, where bartenders will happily walk you through one of their daily whiskey flights before not-so-subtly suggesting you try the namesake dessert. Pro tip: Order your drink and dessert at the same time, so you can pair the sweet, sticky toffee cake and bourbon anglaise with an Angel’s Envy Manhattan, and savor the good life while reminiscing on the day’s retail therapy." - Matthew Meltzer

I met a friend for dinner at Whiskey Cake Tampa on a Monday evening, and overall, we had a really nice time. The restaurant wasn’t busy, which made it easy for us to stay at our table for a couple of hours and catch up without feeling rushed. That relaxed atmosphere was a big plus. We both ordered burgers, which were very good. There was a small mix-up with the sides—my chips and her fries ended up on the wrong plates—but nothing that detracted too much from the meal. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant throughout, which helped make the evening enjoyable. In all, it was a good dining experience. While there were a couple of minor service mix-ups, the food, service, and atmosphere made it a place I’d be happy to visit again.

We really enjoyed it! Went here on a Monday evening. Got seated quickly. Ambiance is really cozy and relaxed. Kayla was our server and she was great. Greeted us with a warm smile and was knowledgeable about the menu. We had the deviled eggs and they were so delicious with dill aioli and tiny pieces of pickles. Yum! I had the Rotisserie Farm Bird. It was a half chicken tasted a bit smokey, juicy and tasty . The roasted veggies were cooked well with a lemony flavor and other spices, all sitting on a sauce that just elevated the whole dish. My partner had the Chopped Chicken Salad, he enjoyed it. The chicken was tender and the basil vinaigrette was tasty and tangy.

We stopped in to Whiskey Cake Resteraunt at Tampa International Mall, ordered the T-bone steak for two, and wow, each bite was a journey for the taste buds, not kidding :-) We love to go to Burns Steakhouse, a favorite eatery of ours, and this was right up there with that but half the price? Perfectly charbroiled, flavorful, with a few custom-made sauces with perfectly seasoned potatoes and spinach. We also ordered the hummus with vegetables, a plate that really serves three or four. Generous portions and custom-made flavors. The pros in the kitchen really know what they are doing. For fun we estimated the amount of bottles of spirits on the wall behind the bar at over 400, mostly hand picked whiskeys they are known for. Our server Nika was THE best!

Fantastic service! The prime rib sandwich was very flavorful. Order it with the parmesean fries and you won't be disappointed. The Whiskey Cake dessert is an absolute must. Save room for it or just take it home. It is 100 percent worth it. I would definitely dine here again! PS: they also have a fantastic happy hour!

This is my wife’s favorite restaurant of all time, and I can understand why. The atmosphere is fantastic, with an excellent layout. The food is absolutely delicious and leaves you craving more. The drinks are super tasty, and everything about this restaurant feels just right.

Google
Katelyn was an amazing my server very kind approachable and efficient however my 3 star score is due to the bartender that forgot our drinks when we were close to finishing our dinner and usually the drinks are given first before appetizers and meal. Also the 3 young hostesses were very rude and unwelcoming. I came in time and it was my first visit ever for this restaurant. I came in time for my reservations (20 mins ahead of time) and kindly told them my name and # of party. There faces were giving disgusted looks because I had 4 kids with me and my sister. I never did this but I couldn’t help to ask them three if everything was okay and they never apologized for their facial expressions. I will only go back for Katelyn and the food was really great. Katelyn apologized for bartender and gave our drinks for free.

Literally the best Reuben I’ve ever had. A great atmosphere and vibe. Ally is AMAZING and even brought the manager , Erin over and she is super engaging and welcoming too. You won’t be disappointed coming here!!

Google
Whiskey Cake Tampa was such a great experience. We tried the breakfast platter that had eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and I want to say jalapeños biscuits with fruit. Super yummy! My daughter wanted some of the homemade Mac and cheese that was so good too! But the steal of the show was, you guessed it.. The Whiskey Cake!! Words cannot describe how good it is. With a side of fresh whipped cream! TRY IT!

Yelp
Drinks and service is good but the food is a disappointment. I ordered the Rooster Royale. The chicken was so thin it was practically a bun and pickle sandwich, no meat. You get a better chicken sandwich at Wendy's!! Shame on you Whiskey Cake! Three stars because the server (Eli) was GREAT, otherwise it would have been 1 star.

Yelp
Stumbled in on Halloween night. Mall was empty but we had a wonderful dinner here. Elena was our server and she gave A+ service. She was patient with our inexperience with the menu. I had a lovely Buffalo Trace. The bourbon menu was great. Fries were legendary and the prime rib Gouda stack was amazing.

Yelp
Visited Whiskey Cake with my mom on Saturday night. I had the Thorns & Roses zero proof juice which tasted exactly like a spicy margarita. We tried the seasonal deviled eggs which were so tasty considering my hesitation since they were a take on a fried green tomato but it was pickled and had great flavor. My mom had the grilled shrimp on a house salad and I had the steak frites. The steak frites were phenomenal!! Our server, Anastasia, was fantastic. Her knowledge of the menu and sharing how menu items were locally sourced made our choice that much better for dinner. She also recommended the garlic aioli with the Parmesan fries and that was 10/10! We will definitely be back with a bigger appetitite to try the Whiskey Cake dessert!

Yelp
I love this spot! I think I come everytime I'm in town at this point lol. It's a cool place with great service and food! This trip I ordered the kale salad which was delicious, however I was hungry as hell 3 hours later lol. I won't ever make that mistake again. I definitely needed more food lol. I did that to save room for the main event which is the whiskey cake!!! And it is still as amazing as it was when I first had it back in 2020. I came here alone while waiting for a friend to arrive in town. I sat outside so I could people watch. It was a great solo date night. I sipped some Woodford to help rinse down my whiskey cake and it was really just a great trip. Everything was fantastic!!!

Yelp
This is one of the best places in Tampa for brunch! The ambiance, service and food were excellent. There were 7 in our party and we ordered several of the sharables, cocktails and entrees. Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes, goat cheese fondue, and BLT toast. I had the short stack of pancakes very tasty! nice touch they serve with real VT maple syrup! Everyone enjoyed their "mains" and cocktails. Definitely returning!

Yelp
Overall: I went here while on a work trip. This restaurant is situated in a bit of an outdoor mall area, but the inside feels like a stand alone place. The food and service were both good, though the food ended up being on the expensive side. I'd go back if i'm ever in the area. Food: 4 Drinks: 3 Service: 4 Value: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Food: I really enjoy comfort food and there were several options that caught my eye. I ended up going with the steak frites. It was a simple steak with a tallow chimichurri sauce, parmesan fries, and shishito peppers. The steak was nicely cooked and the sauce was deliciously savory with a brightness to it. The fries were a little bland, they didn't really have any parmesan flavor. The shishitos were a nice touch but I wish there were a few more. Drinks: They have a very extensive whiskey menu. I ended up just ordering a beer, but the menu was kind of thin. Service: My waitress was very friendly and checked in on me frequently. I was one of her few tables but I got plenty of attention. Value: I got upcharged because I guess I asked for the large steak (I wasn't aware there were sizes) and my full bill after tax and tip was $70. I ordered one of the most expensive things on the menu (~$35), but it felt like a bit of a rip off for that to go up to $47. Atmosphere: The restaurant was huge with an outdoor bar area. It was dimly lit with individual light fixtures on each table. I seemed like a bit of a family restaurant with an old time tavern feel. It was a monday night so the place was pretty empty, but it didn't feel deserted like those restaurants can sometimes feel.

Yelp
Very solid place to come for either brunch or dinner! Portion sizes aren't huge good and the servers are all super friendly and willing to give recommendations. I got a make your own whiskey flight and it was awesome. Love being able to try 4 different types of whiskey at a good price point. Very nice place that I would come back to with a group of friends on a Friday night :)

Yelp
Every year I take my friend to Whisky Cake for her birthday. We both love different menu items and agree on the ambiance and service. The crab Benedict on the brunch menu is my favorite Benedict. Plus, the fruit bowl is not the average type. The spinach artichoke appetizer is good, but needs more seasoning (not salt but rosemary or cayenne). My friend loved her shrimp and grits. We loved the whiskey cake with the French press coffee. Our server could tell we were in deep conversation and came to the table just enough. I need to go more often. If the mall parking were better, I would!

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick bite & drink. Tried the spinach & artichoke dip & that was delicious. Enjoyed a Hugo spritz & my friend had an espresso martini. Good service & food.

Yelp
Been to this restaurant a few times before but I've never taken a moment to review... overall great environment and unique ambiance. Outdoor and indoor seating available. It does get pretty dark inside at night but there is mood lightning. Know that there is a limited food menu but plenty of drinks. Our waiter was very friendly and was happy to give us recommendations from the menu. The whiskey cake is 10/10. If you plan on eating here definitely save room for the dessert!

Yelp
After a book signing event, I met a friend here for a late lunch. We talked and laughed maybe a little too loudly, drank and ate too much, all while our super sweet and friendly server took excellent care of us. 20.04.2025

Yelp
Came to international Plaza to get some new Apple Powerbeats Pro two earbuds. After I got my buds I decided to get something to eat since it was around 2 o'clock. I walked over to the restaurant area and decided to stop in to a new place, whiskey cake, kitchen and bar. I had no idea what the menu was, but decide to give it a try. As you can see from the menu on Saturdays and Sundays it's mostly a breakfast menu at this time. I decided to try their mimosa flight and the goat cheese fondue as an appetizer. The mimosa flight is pictured and it comes with the one is OJ one is cranberry one is grapefruit and one is pineapple. The glasses are a decent size for a flight. They were pretty good and I might get a second. I think for my main course I'm a go with the Dutch, which is slow roasted beef, smoked Gouda, caramelized, onions, and peppers on a with garlic aïoli on a roll. The goat cheese fondue came out and is in the pictures. It is served warm with some little tomatoes and olives. The spread is flavorful and rather light. The toasted bread is warm and crispy with a little softness in the center. It is definitely something I would get again. while eating the fondue, I finished off the cranberry mimosa and started on the grapefruit mimosa. I must say that the grapefruit one was my least favorite. Oh, that was quick thank you The Dutch came out rather fast. I still haven't even finished half of the fondue. Tasting the Dutch that the meat was very tender, and the Gouda was not overbearing and was sort of hidden in the background the caramelized onion seem to overtake the Gouda. All about it was a good sandwich the fries they were average at best. All in all I would get both of these dishes again. Only complaint I have about the place was it was dark. I had dark wood furnishings. The lights were low and at my age I like it a little brighter when I'm reading the menu and eating my food. My server Gavin was great so that's a plus there all in all I'm giving it 4 1/2 stars.

Yelp
3/5 for food. 5/5 service. So all in all 4/5 (which matches their overall yelp rating). Server was terrific. Attentive and timely. Brussel sprouts drowning in sauce and juicy versus being crispy how we hoped. Duck wings were tender but also doused in the Thai chili sauce which it could've been lighter on. Great texture though. Mac n cheese was perfect for me. Creamy and flavorful. Not grainy. Could've used more crisps on it! Mushroom pasta with poached egg and maitake mushrooms was a bit on the lacking flavor side. Low salt and low anything else even after we mixed the egg in. The parm crisps it came with added flavor but there was about 5 pieces for the entire dish which definitely didn't balance. Whiskey cake was delicious. Cake moist and not too sweet since the glaze and candied nuts were so sweet and yummy. The homemade whip was also refreshing and altogether a great mix.

Yelp
Life changing salad. I should have taken a salad before mixing it all up, but oops. The dressing is to die for. I will definitely be back, worth the hour drive from Sarasota. My 16 y/o had a sandwich melt and said this is his new fav restaurant.

Yelp
Dropped in for dinner on a Wednesday night, place was maybe half full but plenty loud, which I guess is to be expected for the area. Sat at the bar for a quick dinner. Impressive whiskey selection as the name would suggest, but the prices are up there for anything remotely allocated. I opted for a maple spiced old fashioned and wasn't overly impressed. For one I'm not sure I buy the 2oz of whiskey in a drink bit, looked a bit lean if you know what I mean. Second and more importantly, regular ice cubes as opposed to a single large cube, I mean come on. Service was pretty prompt, although I did have to ask for a water. Ordered the bone in pork chop and honestly that's the reason for the rating. Incredible flavor, perfectly done and well seasoned. The root vegetable ensemble that accompanied it was also unique and well done. Bonus points for having a bucket of 6 diff hot sauces if you want to add a kick, spoiler alert they're all flavor focused so even the hot "ghost" wasn't very hot. All told, I'd come back for the pork chop alone.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch on a whim after shopping at the mall. I was pleasantly surprised by this place and the flavors. The fried green tomatoes were very crispy and well cooked, my burger was absolutely phenomenal and hade a great flavor. The deviled eggs, which apparently they change up seasonally, were decent. The eggs looked really pretty, unfortunately the Parmesan crisp on top was quite stale / hard and unappetizing. And the texture of the white was as if they had been sitting in a fridge for a while. Wife got the grilled chicken and it was really well cooked and the flavors were great. The service was good, the only issue we had was some confusion over menu options. The sign says brunch until 3pm and we arrived at 2 but were told brunch is over however, if we wanted some brunch items they might be able to make them? Slightly confusing. They were also out of tomato juice so I couldn't get the Bloody Mary I ordered, but the server made it right. I do not drink brown liquor so I can't comment on the selection but it appears vast. Overall I would recommend this place if you are at the mall, and we would return for sure.
google avatar

Amber W.

Yelp
I always go into the mall restaurants with reasonable expectations. This meal was much better than we expected. The deviled eggs this season are a play on chicken Caesar. The egg itself was well-executed but the Parmesan "crisp" on the top was stale so it wasn't crispy and was just tough. Fun idea though, and will give a new seasonal option a try next visit. The fried green tomatoes with remoulade were fresh, perfectly battered, and the sauce was a nice balance of cream and acidity. I tend to steer away from chicken at restaurants since it's usually just as good as I can make it at home, but something in the description of this rotisserie chicken dish on the menu caught my eye. I'm glad it did because it was crispy and charred on the outside and juicy on the inside. Combined with the roasted veggies and jus I was filled with warmth, and also very full of this very generous portion. My table enjoyed their tavern burger which was exactly what you hope to be served when you're simply craving the perfect burger. There was some confusion about if they were serving brunch or not. Everyone we interacted with gave a different answer so we ordered off the lunch menu, even though we really wanted brunch. Our service was pleasant but not super attentive.

Yelp
Ladies pregame, birthday brunch for the only and only Lara T! Enoyed the giant mimosa make your own bar, and a pick me up espresso martini. Can't go to WC without the deviled eggs, today front hit you with mustard, but I was ready. Next was the chicken and waffles, deconstructed then provided with a to-go specially made for the game! Score. WC always knows when to help, from COVID food preps to pre-game left overs@! Plus a birthday means a whiskey cake!
google avatar

Yelp
We only came for drinks and desert but the ambiance was a 10/10. Low lighting, music in the background and great service. I got the speakeasy margarita and my friend got the bohemian raspberry.

Yelp
We wanted to get lunch while at the Mall and heard about this place never been. The food was good! I had the salmon, delicious and my partner had the Yard Bird (chicken) and the flavors were delicious, chicken moist. Service was great, very attentive server, good listener and always quick to refill our drinks. Very cool decor. Hip farm meets urban chic. Clean and comfortable

Yelp
I've been to the Round Rock, TX location - loved it and somehow I missed this one in Tampa! So, we had to stop in after shopping. Took a little bit to get seated, note they were not busy.... But our waiter was great! Got service right away with drinks, taking orders and bring food, as well as checking on us while we were enjoying our meals. Loved the deviled eggs - they are seasonal and always changing. Today, they were scrumptious and full of flavor with a small slice of bacon! Yum! The real question: why 5 half slices? Why not serve the full 3 eggs/6 halves? We each ordered the Tavern burgers. One with out a bun and mine with it. One with chips and one with French fries. The fries were perfectly crisp and nicely salty! The chips were crunchy and fresh. The best part???? The Whiskey cake for dessert. So delicious. Served with vanilla whipped cream.... The best dessert ever! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
This was my first time at whiskey cake in Florida. I've always had a great experience at the Texas locations. The restaurant is huge so it's great for a large dinner parties or small intimate gatherings. They have a great indoor and outdoor space. The happy hour is from 3 to 6 PM and they also have food on the happy hour menu. They have a wonderful selection of appetizers and entrées. This time I went with the steak salad, medium, and it was absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection and the salad was just enough for a solid entrée. I can't wait to go back to try the beet salad with salmon. The service was amazing and so quick. The server had me in and out within 25 minutes.
google avatar

Rhena S.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday dinner. Wasn't sure if I would like the food based on the menu. The customer service is really good and so was my drink. The Mac and cheese was ok but the salmon was dry and lacked flavor. They are very accomadating to large parties and last minute reservations. We were a party of about 22. The drinks were also really good.

Yelp
This was one of my most complex reviews. I had hovered between a 3 and 4 star rating here and settled on 3. If I could do half stars, it would be 3.5. The ambiance is nice with a dimly lit interior. It was loud but not overbearing. For food, I ordered the candied bacon. It was delicious. It is probably the right amount to share between 2-3 people. My main issue involved my entree. I ordered the Big 'F' Burger. It was terrible. Possibly one of the worst burgers I have ever had at a restaurant. Piled with mountains of arugula, it was impossible to eat. Couple this with the cheese that was getting everywhere and didn't have much flavor to it, it was underwhelming. Obviously, it is advertised as a big burger but to just be a complete mess and have no flavor? For dessert, I ordered the whiskey cake. It was delicious. I saved half of it and took it home and eating it the next day cold was even better. Overall Whiskey Cake is a solid spot.
google avatar

Melody B.

Yelp
First timer to Whiskey Cake. The service was top-notch, and the food was simply amazing. The candied bacon was out of this world and the best I've ever had. I asked for the recipe for the deviled eggs - I hope to make these for Thanksgiving. I recommend that if you're ever in the area, you check this place out!

Yelp
I have dined at Whiskey Cake in International Plaza on several occasions and the food is always very good. The menu offers a nice selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees and the brunch menu on the weekend is great. The cuisine at Whiskey Cake is American comfort food with lots of fresh ingredients. I think the prices are very fair because of the high quality ingredients used in each dish. I have yet to find a five star salad on the menu, but I really like the WTF Burger, the shrimp and grits and the farmhouse Benedict. The cocktails are a bit sweeter than I prefer so I usually order a glass of Prosecco or a fresh squeezed juice. Surprisingly, the whiskey selection is not as impressive as one would hope it would be. The bar carries a decent selection of whiskey, but whiskey connoisseurs might find the selection a little basic. My husband was hoping to find unique bottles from smaller distilleries or slightly more high-end bottles. I don't drink whiskey so this doesn't affect my opinion of the restaurant. I wouldn't think that a restaurant called Whiskey Cake would be accommodating to children, but the restaurant is surprisingly family friendly and offers a great children's menu. The restaurant also offers crayons and straw cups for the kids so it's nice to know that my kid doesn't have to worry about spilling their cup or being bored.

Yelp
Went to this place 2x in a week. First visit I had Pork Chop and second was chicken waffle. And always ordered the whiskey cake, cannot be missed. The Pork chop is excellent; tender inside with char taste on the outside. The meat is full of flavor that make me wants to keep eating even is done already Definitely is the highlight of the menu for this restaurant Chicken waffle also great, fluffy waffle with bit of crisp Chicken is tender inside and crunchy on outside Syrup on the side, if like more sweetness to your dish And now, the 'Whiskey Cake'..... the best cake ever; not too sweet; enough sweetness that make my mouth keep going. And there is bourbon anglaise in the bottom, adding heaven to the cake Will I go back again ?? Oh yeah....

Yelp
Came for brunch and all 4 of us ordered the farmers meal. This comes with 2 Sunny side up eggs, hashbrowns, candied bacon, cheesy grits and jalapeno biscuits. Grits were amazing! But just a tiny spoonful in a metal tiny cup. All of us enjoyed our food but we did need to ask for salt and use hot sauce to add some flavor as everything was a bit bland. No salt or pepper or other silverware on the tables. Also PLEASE provide butter automatically when you have biscuits or bread for customers. Also a knife would be nice to spread butter. We only each had a fork and didn't want to scoop out butter from a tiny cup with the forks we have been using to eat. We had to ask for butter and they brought out a small spoonful that all of us were expected to share for 2 biscuits each.

Yelp
Great food, cocktails, and service. Definitely recommend. The interior is dark and open. Near the host stand are a few shelves of products that you can purchase which I thought was nice. My party of three was sat almost immediately on a Monday evening. Our server was friendly and was happy to walk us through some menu items and point our some of his favorites. The menu was pretty diverse, and being from a landlocked state, I was tempted to go for a seafood dish, but I had never tried chicken and waffles before and was looking for something sweet and savory. Both the chicken and the waffles were fantastic. Breading on the chicken was crisp and crunchy, and the waffle was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I tried a few different cocktails and although they came out a little slow, they were well made. A great place to stop if you plan on shopping in the outlet mall or if you are staying near the airport.

Yelp
A group of 4 of us stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening. We were seated right away and our drinks showed up shortly after ordering them. We enjoyed our drinks and conversation and our food came out pretty quickly after that. Two diners in our group got the smoked chopped chicken salad. They both enjoyed the fresh greens and veggies. One diner had some food limitations on dressing, so they brought two separate ones for her to combine to her taste. My wife got the Chicken Meatballs and combined that with the Brussels Sprouts to create her dinner. Both were excellent! Flavorful and delicious. I got the Tavern Burger. It was a standard burger, but very tasty! The chips were also good. Service was very attentive and our server was very pleasant.

Yelp
My friends and I split the dishes family style and got: deviled eggs, flash fried brussel sprouts, goat cheese fondue, smoked chopped chicken salad, rigatoni, and of course the whiskey cake. Top favorites: salad, brussel sprouts, rigatoni, and whiskey cake. The portion sizes are a bit small and it does take awhile to get your food, but every bite is very delicious (and worth the wait). I liked the flavors in the deviled eggs, which had sun dried tomatoes on top which added a nice twist to the flavors. The salad has a good variety of ingredients, so makes for a nice blend of textures and flavors with each bite. I can't say that I've had goat cheese fondue before, but if you're a fan of goat cheese, it is definitely a dish to try! The cheese flavor is rich without being too strong, and the garlic and olive oil on top really enhance the flavor. The brussel sprouts had a nice crisp without being too dry. I really like rigatoni, and the rigatoni here did not disappoint: the chicken, mushroom, and cheese flavors blend together and the creamy sauce ties is all together over a perfect al dente pasta. The whiskey cake is such a wonderful blend of flavors: spiced pecan, bourbon, and toffee cake -- the whipped cream on top adds a nice neutral agent to the other flavors. Sat outside, which had overhead heating lamps and added an orange glow to the ambiance. The inside emphasizes wood decor. I like how it's situated close to the mall, but on a separate outdoor pedestrian street. Overall a solid experience.

Yelp
This review is for late lunch at the bar on a Monday in late January. service: Bar staff was super professional and engaging. What appeared to be one of the line cooks brought out my salad, which was really nice. bar: In the photo, you'll see most of the taps were unavailable. Bartender explained there was a Tampa Bay football game the day prior and they drained a bunch of kegs? They still had the old standby, Sierra Nevada Pala Ale (($7 as of 01/2027). But, as the name implies, this is a craft cocktail bar, especially if bourbon or rye is your choice. food: The Smoked Chopped Chicken Salad ($17) is excellent. All the food looked great. details: Restaurant is in row of restaurants adjacent to a mall. Plenty of surface lot parking nearby. Dark and woody kind of vibe. Music is background enough for conversation.

Yelp
Food was amazing, flavors on point quantity great serving size. The server was a little slow but it was really busy and worth the wait. The grits was cooked to perfection. Please stop by and eat. Mimosa was delicious. Biscuits and gravy was so satisfying to my pallets. I would definitely be back.

Yelp
Great brunch spot if you're at the International Plaza mall doing some shopping! The decor and ambiance is very much like a bourbon/whiskey bar with a beautiful bar of bottles displayed. The Farmer's Table breakfast on the menu was the winning dish, with the creamiest, buttery grits. Would not recommend the Avo Toast, as the bread was too smoky even for me (and I really enjoy smoky flavors), as it was incredibly overpowering.

Hannah A.

Yelp
Cute place in the mall that I didn't even know existed! The ambiance and interior of this place is amazing. It's dimly lit and filled with all types of trinkets and rustic looking pieces. I had the salmon and it was good paired with the sauce. The vegetables were cold and I would've liked them to be hot next to the salmon - not sure if they were going for a salad vibe there. Nevertheless it was good!

Yelp
This restaurant looks so good on its website and menu, we were excited to experience my mothers 79th brirthday on Mothers Day. We made a 6:15 reservation for 5. My mom has recently been in the hospital for several months amd she was excited to get out of the house. Mom is a vegetarian and was looking forward to a mushroom pasta dish they advertised. It turned out the pasta was sold out, as well as the steak? This seems bizarre for 6:15pm on a holiday where people enjoy eating out. What is equally surprising is that their only other vegetarian offering is mac and cheese and a side of vegetables. What a disappointment to have no pasta or steak! We had the bread and cheese board, it was very average; and the fried green tomatoes were very good, actually the only item that reached our table still hot. Fried green tomatoes were solid. We waited over an hour for a sandwich, a salad sans steak, fish and chips, and our guest of honor vegetarian had mac and cheese and a side of grilled veggies. It always tells you alot about a place when they make you wait over an hour and then the food comes cold. The manager visited our table and apologized and expressed that we would not be receiving a bill, she was friendly and seemed honestly sorry, she even offered more cocktails and deserts which we declined. We had a cake waiting at home and my mom doesnt stay up really late so we just wanted to be on our way. Of the main dishes, the fish and chips still had some warmth in the plate however everything else was cool. I graciously left a $20 as a tip and we departed. On our way out our server stopped me and said we needed to pay for our drinks, he stated "FL law doesnt allow the comping of drinks", I said "the manager said we would not be receiving a bill?". And he insisted on payment. So i gave him a couple more twenties, knowing full well I was being shaken down. At that point we just wanted to get on with our evening and put Whiskey Cake behind us, so I wasnt going to argue with this obvious scammer. As I was getting my car from the valet I called and let the manager know about her dishonest employee. It seemed like she wanted to offer to do something else, but I declined. My family has been in the restaurant business for years, currently a cousin owns French Laundry, another cousin has The Meat Market, and many others. We are accustomed to fine dining and exemplary service and we expect our hosts to be gracious for our business. I would say Whiskey Cake has done a great job marketing their business, but certainly falls flat in the delivery of good food, good service, and unfortunately they employee at least one person whose behavior is highly unethical and maybe criminal. I would never go back to this restaurant. I feel we would have had better food, better service, and more fun if we had walked 50 more feet and entered the malls food court.

Yelp
We had dinner here on a Thursday evening, we didn't have reservations but we were seated promptly and it wasn't super crowded. This location is at International Mall, so it's mall parking, but there's usually plenty of it. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, and it seemed very organized. The hostesses were friendly and our waiter was very knowledgeable on the menu as well - always a plus in my book. We ordered the goat cheese fondue - my boyfriend isn't super fond of goat cheese and even he really enjoyed this platter - highly recommend trying it out, the flavor with the olives and roasted tomatoes is fantastic. For my meal I got the rigatoni pasta - also very delicious and I would order it again. Our waiter said that was a popular dish there, and I see why! Overall, a nice evening for my first time at Whiskey Cake.

Yelp
I had this place on "my list" of things to try during my next visit to Tampa. I was unimpressed. Loved the dining area ambiance but the service was mid and so was the food. I ordered the Chicken & cheese melt, the protein seemed like it was good quality but it lacked flavor and the bacon was flimsy. My partner ordered the fried chicken sandwich, and compared it to schnitzel, so I'll just leave that right there. The house made chips were good though!

Yelp
The service was great. I got the ruby slippers and was amazed how delicious it was. I also enjoyed the tavern burger! But I will say that my favorite was the whiskey cake!

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time and we will definitely be back! Our server Elijah was fantastic, very friendly, funny, and attentive. The place is well decorated and they have great outdoor seating. I definitely recommend the chicken and waffles.

Yelp
This is a great food option at the International Mall. And good for large groups. For apps, I like their bbq pork sliders which comes with 3 nicely filled sliders. I sometimes get this as my entree. The candied bacon app is also good. For entrees, the ribs is a nice half rack portion, 6 meaty ribs. Comes with side of mac n cheese. The ribs were very tender! The hot hen: fried chicken sandwich is a great price for $16. The bun is DELICIOUS, sooo pillowy. There was so much chicken too. Of course get the whiskey cake dessert. It's a sticky toffee cake with bourbon sauce and house made vanilla whip cream. Reservations are on Opentable. It's a dimly lit restaurant with candles at each table and the atmosphere is cozy even with how large and busy the place gets.

Yelp
Drink: I had a cool crisps fever tree ginger ale which went well with my meal. Butcher Board: Depending on the day you'll get something different but when I say the quality of the Charcuterie was on point I mean it was a 10/10. Everything from the prosciutto, to the jam, to the crackers was fresh and flavorful. Rigatoni: Creamy as can be, and packed with chicken and el dente pasta, I couldn't pass it up. It was very rich and smooth just how I like my rigatoni and not everyone chicken is good but this was more than decent. Overall everything was on point, another great experience at Whiskey Cake, cant wait for round 3

Yelp
Five stars for a great brunch. I love that I can get carrot juice here. It's not on the menu, but I've ordered it twice and both times they were able to do it. This time I checked my receipt and it was a little under $6, which I think is reasonable. I got the Wagyu Wake-Up Hash and it was delicious. There was a ton of pastrami in it. It was super filling, whereas I thought it would end up being dainty. I was pretty full. If it's nice outside, sit outside. Inside is a little dark for brunch. We sat on their patio and I enjoyed people watching. We had reservations right at 10 a.m., but by the time we left around noon on a Saturday it was pretty busy. Parking is super easy since it is at International Plaza. I love the hustle and bustle of this place at brunch time. Our server was great. I don't have anything I'd do differently next time, so if I end up back here for brunch I know my order.

Yelp
Great experience this time around. The chickenburger was really good! Very refreshing! We tried the Florida flight. The star of the show was Spirit of the Oaks with a fantastic aftertaste. The others were pretty good too. We sat at the bar, the bartender was super friendly and quick too. We love the decor and the moving ladder is really cool!

Yelp
Anyone else poop themselves after dining here? Had brunch here once last week with a friend. We both got French toast and bacon with coffees. Later that day I was lying on the couch and farted. Only it wasn't a fart and I ruined my underwear AND shorts. Fast forward to yesterday. Husband is planning a going away party and picks this place. Same friend and I are in attendance. Me, the friend, and my husband all have the runs since eating here. My husband is the one to poop himself this time. Mind you we are all adults who do not poop themselves. Maybe it's the coffee since that's the common denominator between last time and this time? We three are the only ones who got the coffee. The rest of the guests were my husband's friends and he doesn't talk bathroom stuff with them. So I don't know how they are doing. 5 stars for the food though. It's really all good! At least the brunch menu is. 1 star for the pants pooping.

Yelp
Sat outside for a Monday night happy hour. We tried the guava gimlet, old fashioned, house made chips and dip, and meat and cheese board. Our waitress, Julia was everything. She was so friendly and helpful and made the experience even more enjoyable. I learned that all the food is made in house farm to table! If you snag the table outside surrounded by plants and fresh herbs you can also enjoy frequent visits from Monarch butterflies. It's the perfect place to enjoy the Florida sun and people watch.
