I LOVED Axe 🪓 Throwing! I went with my Sister, her boyfriend and her friend for my birthday. The four of us was with another couple and we had a great time. I didn't get it at first but when we started playing the first game "Cricket" my team, called Sunshine Zebras 🌞🦓 won! We had a great instructor and bartender, Bri or Bria, sorry I forgot her name. Definitely if you haven't been before go, you will have fun.

Google
Phenomenal experience! Our host showed us techniques and made sure we were being safe and following the rules. As soon as we had an understanding we ordered phenomenal cocktails and beer! Great spot!

Google
1st time here.. and the atmosphere and experience was all that.. I truly enjoyed myself.. it was a bday outing that will never be forgotten.. And not to mention our instructor Webb was dope.. fun and kept the mood fun all evening .. I'll definitely be back 💪🏽👍🏽

My husband took me here for our anniversary! We had a straight blast! Tarri was a GREAT guide! Mia is an outstanding bartender! Both ladies continued to check on us during our time there! Just a great atmosphere! Definitely going back! Thank you ladies!

We stumbled upon this place while in deep ellum. We hadn't originally planned to go axe throwing, so unfortunately half of our group couldn't participate because we didn't have proper shoes (closed-toed). The male staff member who was checking our group in wasn't the friendliest or most inviting, but luckily he wasn't a good representation of the rest of the staff. The cocktails were full on bougie craft cocktails. 😄 I love that my El Cubano old fashioned candied orange was candied right before my eyes with a crème brûlée torch. They were a little expensive, but I guess that's the name of the game for "craft" these days... The staff member (I can't remember her name, super sweet girl dressed as little red riding hood...p.s. LOVED that she chose that for her costume while working at an axe throwing bar 😆) who got our group situated in our area was awesome! She was clear and patient with directions, super encouraging, and kept our group engaged for our hour. She set up challenges and games for our group to play against each other, which made it more fun than just throwing alone.

Google
This place is AMAZING!! Coolest vibe and decor, great music and vibes, and the cocktail list is incredible. My friends and I have tried almost every one on the list and each is better than the next. Throwing the axes was such a fun way to burn off some steam and have friendly competition. The staff is also very friendly and happy to help offer suggestions for the axe throwing and recommending cocktails. So happy this place is in Dallas!!!

Google
Axe throwing is for sure lots of fun ... the drinks and atmosphere are even better. Chris , David,Jaren,Spencer are amazing as are the other bar tenders. Good music great vibes and amazing drinks!!!

Google
Surprisingly exciting! This was a work outing and we reserved a few "cages" for one hour. This also got us a whiskey hatchet employee to train us, answer questions, facilitate games, and have a good time. If you are wondering about how long, or number of cages, we had 4 people in one cage and 6 in the other. Since 2 people go at a time, you are not waiting long in between throws. I was in the cage with 4 people and one hour was plenty of time. The drinks were very good! I believe Tyler was our bartender, and I really appreciate skilled bartenders. Simple or complex, a good bartender keeps them consistent and well balanced. We will be returning.

Yelp
The wife had been wanting to try this place out for a while now, mainly for the drink menu. We had made reservations, checked in and ordered drinks while we waited for the axe instructor to explain the rules and how to throw the axe. Once all the 5 o'clock reservations were there, our instructor went over all the rules and she was amazing!!! She explained everything clearly and was SO friendly. Thank her! ;-) The drinks were ok. My margarita was served in a tall glass which I didn't like. The other drinks were ok. We will come back for some more axe throwing.

Jason O.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my first time throwing hatchets and the staff was really friendly. The bar and throwing areas were really clean and inviting. I will definitely visit here again. The whiskey cocktails were interesting, but I want to try different ones to see if I find one I really enjoy. I tried the "I'm Ron Burgundy" and it was okay (maybe a different whiskey would have made it better). Had a couple of beers since they had a great selection. They had some flat breads on the menu, but if you are axe throwing and not sitting at the bar, then it is best just to get a cocktail.

Alex A.

Yelp
The wifey took me on a date to Whiskey Hatchet. We had never done axe throwing before but it was a blast! Payton showed us the ropes then left us with a list of games to choose from and then the competition began. We got thru 3 games and practice in our 70 minutes. Had some drinks as well and then finished it up with some Jenga. No food is served there but you can order and have it delivered to you.

Rich C.

Yelp
Great place to let out some rage. Lol. You have to make reservations and they fill up pretty quickly. Staff is top notch and take care of from entrance to exit. Super friendly and funny. They have a full bar and a good menu of bar food. Had the pizza bread. It was OK and I think it needed five more minutes but was tasty. The axes are fun to throw and it's located next to many other cool spots.

Jasmine T.

Yelp
My partner and I visited on a Sat afternoon. Check-in was quick and easy but we weren't able to start until 20 min after. They have oversized board games and a bar which were partaked during the wait. We had a very brief overview on how to throw the axes and were sent out in our lanes. They don't make it crystal clear you will be sharing with strangers. It took away from the 1 and 15 mins we had. I would not have picked this place if I knew that. The lanes are very short and the axes they use are small compared to other places I've been. Overall, it was just okay. Kind of underwhelming.

Melisa A.

Yelp
It was a good time. Probably just a one time thing. The bar tenders are BOARD/ BASIC and definitely lack the energy and customer connection. I'd probably buy more drinks from a likable and friendly server/bartender. These girls hate their job! All of them had resting b**tch faces. Sucks too because I'd assume they aren't but boy did I get the vibe NONE OF THEM WANT THIS JOB. You must be fun if you serve , period. The axe pro is as a doll! She was fun. She gets it. I understand that your at work and boohoo life can blow but seriously act like your tips depend on it. Just a tip. The environment was good. Music was good, drinks were good and it was an okay time. Just not that exciting to be honest

Jen H.

Yelp
Axe throwing here was a ton of fun! My only complaint is that I had a reservation for a specific time, but we were grouped together with others at a later time so that one instructor was assigned to all of us. The instructor was very friendly and gave great direction on the proper technique for throwing the axe and getting it to stick to the board. There were several rounds of games we played after getting the hang of things, which made it all the more fun. If you are looking for a drink, they also have a full bar and many options to choose from. Overall a great experience, and I would highly recommend coming here for a chill night out!

Jon C.

Yelp
The staff here is incredible. My group was mourning family who had just passed. We stopped in on a whim, looking to blow off some steam. It became one of the more healing, tender points of the entire night. The staff was brilliant & patient & supportive in helping our group of newbies figure out how to get the most out of our experience. And without any context, they had the presence & professionalism & the kindness & warmth that was needed to help turn a very hard night into one that had us leaving smiling & hopeful. So one giant thank you to y'all. (especially Terri & Justice) Y'all are wicked. We got to end the night celebrating & that means a lot.

James B.

Yelp
I've been to quite a few ace throwing places in Dallas and this was the best experience I have had. Webb our axe guide was so great and made the training not feel like it was not a chore and my girlfriend and I had so much fun joking with him through the process. The bartenders were friendly and made sure check that we didn't need another drink. Would recommend to anyone wanting to have a great experience learning axe throwing or just coming to drink and have fun

Jasmaine D.

Yelp
We had a great time here! We brought my cousin for her 40th bday and had a blast! The atmosphere was right, the drinks were great and their options for food were pretty good. Don't expect a full meal here but be prepared to snack your heart out lol! We competed against a group of 3 guys and I came in 2nd place. What a blow to the ego. Hahahah!!

Jaime T.

Yelp
Tourist review. I came her for a work event and the people managing the space were great. I did this as a team building event. The two instructors who guided us were very knowledgable and helpful. They took the time to explain how to improve your throw. When it seemed like we were improving, they offered different options like a one handed throw. I recommend

Bryandt D.

Yelp
We had a great time axe throwing at Whiskey Hatchet. It's the perfect mix of a quality cocktail bar and fun. Make sure to make a reservation. Each person is $40 for 1.5 hours. Once you're inside, you can help yourself to food and drinks. The staff is very helpful and supervise the session. They also help beginners and ensure safety at all times. Once you're warmed up, you can get competitive with some games for the group. There might even be some free shots involved. Word of advice, make sure you try hitting the blue circles. They're 10 points each. I left there ready to buy my first axe

Katrina C.

Yelp
Great service from Mia! We had a wonderful time she gave us lots of attention and a great safety briefing. We had fun playing the games and the drinks were super tasty!

Cynthia L.

Yelp
We came to drink whiskey. Really nice selection and bartender gave great recommendations.

Tim K.

Yelp
Was in town for work. Saw that they had a great bourbon selection. Was hoping to throw axes, but they were full for the night. Place had a great vibe. Will definitely be by when I'm in town again!

Brittney W.

Yelp
Cody was my axpert & bartender, he's the BEST! I love a good old fashioned and he makes a great one. He was very knowledgeable about the different brands of whiskey. First time axe throwing and I was off to a rough start lol Cody was very patient with me! He made sure we were being safe and having a great time!

Ernest D.

Yelp
Went to this place with a couple of coworkers. For starters, we had a great time with a our instructor, Web. However, truthfully this was a very different axe throwing experience than we expected. We were grouped in a large group or 9 people. Over the $120 hour for the 3 of us, we probably only got to throw 15-ish times? I definitely prefer a place that allows you to throw alone with your group rather than constant instruction and forcing you to be in a larger group. Will not return. Sad!

DayQuan M.

Yelp
This is a a cool little date night spot. There wasn't any food being served but you could bring your own. Drink prices were reasonable, you could get a beer and a shot for $8. The Pinot noir was really good. My wife and I had a blast playing basketball and axe throwing. The service was great, everyone was friendly and informative.

Christina W.

Yelp
Was visiting Dallas from the DC area and just had a late lunch in the area. Had no plans so randomly decided to hit up Whiskey Hatchet for some Axe Throwing. I had never been. Walked in to see they had a nice bar set up. Booked Axe Throwing for a slot for an hour after we arrived so we could have some drinks. The drinks were phenomenal and the presentation and preparation of every drink was like a show and entertaining. On to the Axe Throwing. It was my first time and we shared the lanes with another couple. Our Axe expert was Spencer and he was sooo much fun! We got to throw Axes for practice and once we all got the hang of it we ended up playing games all scores kept by the host/axe expert. You are able to drink cocktails as the games were played. Such a great experience! I usually don't drink espresso martinis but decided to try theirs and all I can say is...it was Amazing! When I return to Dallas, I will absolutely return to this place!

Kristin P.

Yelp
First time and won't be the last! Very awesome place! The employees were wonderful from the front desk to the bartender. Great atmosphere and service. Drinks were also delicious. Got the strawberry margarita and El Cubano. Will definitely be back!

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I went with my friend on a Sunday evening because she wanted to try it. We did not make a reservation so we ended up having to wait an hour to throw until the next available time, but that was our fault since reservations are recommended. That did, however, give us time to sit at the bar and have some tasty drinks! We were placed with another group of 6 and I was annoyed at first because we didn't know that's how it worked, but it ended up being WAY more fun to play in a group. Our axpert led us through a bunch of games and the hour went by so fast. Every employee we interacted with was so nice. I had the best time and can't wait to do it again!

Haley S.

Yelp
We went to Whiskey Hatchet on a bike bar and David was super helpful and nice when working with us at the bar. We were on a time crunch and he chatted with us the whole time! Definitely recommend going by even for a quick stop.

Allyson Marie M.

Yelp
Mia, Tarri, and Jeff (the general manager) are the best! The bourbon selection at this bar is FANTASTIC, prices are amazing, but most of all the staff is wonderful. Tarri is a fantastic bartender, Mia was a superb axpert and Jeff is extremely knowledgeable about how to craft a delicious old fashion. If you have family coming to town this is a must. This location I have noticed also has a lot of the UFC fights. Whenever people ask me about what to check out in Deep Ellum the list ALWAYS includes Whiskey Hatchet.

Joy H.

Yelp
Checked this place a few weeks ago. SO much fun! Our instructor was funny and a good teacher. Their whiskey list is pretty comprehensive. Their food options are next to nothing and their kitchen was down when we were there which was a bummer. I would recommend this for date night or girls night. We will definitely be back.

Martin M.

Yelp
Had a fantastic time! Aria was our axespert and she was super friendly and helped us a ton for our first time throwing axes. Will definitely come back with a bigger group next time!

Truman G.

Yelp
Payton and Tarri were exceptional at the main bar. Very nice and good service. Ask for them directly

Keili B.

Yelp
I was more than pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Buffalo dip and the charcuterie board. Hand cut day of and exquisitely tasteful. The staff was so helpful with instructions and gently precise with the delivery of when our ace throwing time was reserved. Great service, beautiful drinks and amazing quality. Definitely worth the price. Will visit again. CHRIS AND MO ARE AMazing!!!

Jake R.

Yelp
Great axe throwing and even better bourbon. Great service and cool atmosphere. Plenty of time to throw

Ray E.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and Paige has taken care of me every time! Paige has become my favorite bartender in Deep Ellum. So with saying that whiskey hatchet has become one of my favorite bars in Dallas!!

Alysha S.

Yelp
Whiskey Hatchet is the perfect place for a day date or a date night! My husband and I checked it out for my birthday and we had so much fun! Hailey, our AXEPERT, was amazing and made our experience even better! I definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to have a great night out trying something new! You'll definitely enjoy it!

Tom N.

Yelp
Warning - Go elsewhere. You don't get your own bay. They pair you with strangers. So, basically you get half the time you paid for. We were almost 20mins into our time and hadn't even started throwing yet. The manager refunded us after I got hot about it, but the response that "they've always done it that way" was pretty weak in my opinion. From some of the others reviews here it sounds like this place has gone downhill with the attitude from the manager(s). I think they're majorly understaffed so they try to combine groups. Waste of our time. As I said, go elsewhere. We've thrown axes at 3 other Dallas area venues and always had a great time. This place just doesn't get it. Shame... nice atmosphere, terrible policies and management.

Jameel K.

Yelp
We came for date night and threw axes. It was sooo much fun. Staff is super friendly. The atmosphere was great This is definitely a place to visit for a nice time

Rey S.

Yelp
Have had zero luck reaching them to make an event reservation (called, emailed, and used online event request form). It shouldn't be this hard to plan an event here

Keith G.

Yelp
Absolutely love the concept! Drinking with heavy sharp projectiles. What could go wrong? I'm kidding, this place was great. They had "range masters" in every cage, that managed to teach you how to throw an ax, keep score and keep it fun even while they kept it all safe. The staff was super friendly and the drinks were great! Would definitely go back when I'm back in Dallas.

Melody B.

Yelp
This place was an absolute blast! We had so much fun and the drinks were perfect! We made some new friends while throwing and enjoyed our time of friendly competition! Definitely will be going back!

Gabby G.

Yelp
SO MUCH FUN!! And definitely worth the price! I can't remember our guide's name but he was great and super helpful when teaching us how to throw. Such a cute place with a great vibe and again so much fun!!

Alonna D.

Yelp
I LOVED Axe Throwing! I went with my Sister, her boyfriend and her friend for my birthday. The four of us was with another couple and we had a great time. I didn't get it at first but when we started playing the first game "Cricket" my team, called Sunshine Zebras won! We had a great instructor and bartender, Bri or Bria, sorry I forgot her name. Definitely if you haven't been before go, you will have fun.

Jade J.

Yelp
We used to LOVE whiskey hatchet!! Chris was great, food was great, the axe-perts were awesome, all good vibes. But the past 3 months it went WAY downhill. We came here on a Saturday night, and they said you can't axe throw after 10? It's an axe bar, and way out of the way of deep Ellum, we came here for that!! Not only that, but the managers could not be more rude. Overall a cute place with a lot of potential, great Buffalo chicken dip and espresso martinis, but they have got to do something about management here. Won't be back anytime soon.

Toni L.

Yelp
Great time, drinks are fab. Axe throwing even better. Wish the targets were further away.

Ryan C.

Yelp
I've been so excited for this spot to open and, after my sneak peek, it did not disappoint. More than just axe throwing, I was blown away by their cocktails, bourbon and tequila list and the TV situation for watching the games. This place is so unique and cool. Will definitely be a regular guest moving forward. Highly recommend

Kelsey F.

Yelp
This place deserves zero stars. I recently went for the first time last week and the entire staff (specifically the Manager) was rude. Upon arriving, we were told that we could not throw axes because all of the spaces were reserved. However, within the entire hour we were there, only 1 out of 6 lanes were occupied. Not a single "reservation" came in. After telling the manager, Spence, that we would pay an entire hour if we could throw just a few times, he immediately got hostile and aggressive. He was completely unprofessional and continued to glare at me while I was at the bar trying to enjoy my cocktail. Do not waste your time going here unless you want to feel degraded and unwelcome.

Elijah W.

Yelp
So I have been getting good at this axe throwing and i wanted to do a trick. I needed the head of a buffalo, moose horns, a burned orange, a hoola hoop, a torch, and a Mexican Asian.... we couldn't find the hoola hoop. But we still had a great time. Thanks David, Kris, Allen and Shayla... Now I know kung fu. Oh grilled cheese and tomato soup.... it's hittin diffrent... get it mfs

Olly F.

Yelp
Great bar staff, terrible manager. If you'd like to see "Napoleon complex" on display...come here.

Chelsea T.

Yelp
My parents and girlfriend and I went to throw axes and drink whiskey to celebrate my Dad's birthday, and it surpassed all expectations! I had asked them before coming if they had Midleton Irish Whiskey available, and they bought a bottle of it just for our visit. One of the owners brought the shot of Midleton over to us and introduced himself. It was so kind! They really went above and beyond to ensure we had a fun time. Our coach was friendly and laid back, and helped us to feel comfortable throwing an ax, which was appreciated because it's a bit intimidating at first. I would go back in a heartbeat, it was so fun!

Monica C.

Yelp
Wanted to share some more pics of all the fun times we've had at this place. Such great atmosphere and vibes, the most delicious cocktails and new food menu is dank!!!

Jai L.

Yelp
Wonderful date night idea and experience. We were able to compete in a variety of different teams. The drinks were great as well.

Janet W.

Yelp
We visited Whiskey Hatchet this weekend with my 2 daughters and a friend. My husband and I were the only rookies as everyone else had thrown before. I knew I'd have a good time but I didn't know how much freaking fun this would be! Our axepert, Aria, was super friendly and very helpful with tips to improve our throws. She led us in some games which brought out a little friendly competition in the group. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to have a great time and de-stress a little. If Whiskey Hatchet ever wants to franchise in San Antonio, look me up!!

Suzy H.

Yelp
I had so much fun there. It was my first time ever going to an axe throwing place. The Axeperts made me and my group feel super comfortable and had a great energy. They definitely lean into the axe theme with the decor, drinks and puns and it works quite well for them i think.

Tammi H.

Yelp
OMG! This place was so much fun. Not only is it awesome to be able to have a drink and throw some hatchets but the staff were amazing. We loved our coach, Donald. He was very good at giving pointers but also just a great fun guy to spend an hour with. You have to allow some time after your session to hang out at the bar. Enjoy some fun banter with Batman, David and Spencer while they pour you some tasty beers and craft some amazing cocktails!

Shelby C.

Yelp
This is the BEST place to go Axe throwing! The "Axeperts" really know what they're doing, and they can give you the best tips as you go along! Their cocktails are truly amazing, and they are very creative!
