Whiskey Rae's

A cool spot tucked away. First time here, a dauntingly delightful selection of whiskeys. A nice beer, wine, and cocktail menu. Check out their happy hour specials. Food options are plenty. Tacos were very good but not super filling.

Stopped in here while on a business trip. It was a nice vibe to enjoy a meal. Service was good. I ordered the tomahawk pork chop. I appreciated the gluten free labels on the menu and the server was very knowledgeable about the food and how different items were prepared. The pork chop was well-cooked. The amount on the side dishes was pretty small but were tasty. Overall, I’d recommend and will likely go back if I’m in the city again.

The salmon was cooked to perfection, just wish there was a bit more hot honey on it... Get the bacon wrapped shrimp, it was amazing... The margarita flight is worth it too... 9/10, would recommend...

Food was delicious 😋 the environment was great. It was quite where you didn't feel like screaming when talking. 1st time here and it was a great experience. Plenty of food options, and many more beverage options The fajitas (3 meats), the bourbon salmon, and chicken club!

Nice laid back atmosphere, food was great fries was delicious. I had the Pistachio Lamb burger. Cook to perfection

I ordered the 1/3 pound burger and chips with additional cheddar cheese. It came cooked to order, and the burger tasted remarkable. This was one of the lunch specials for Wednesday and was a great deal at $9 and only .50 cents extra for the cheese. The atmosphere was relaxing and service couldn't be better. I highly recommend this place and I will be back.

We needed to find a place to eat after my son's competition and this was right across the street. They had been wanting to go for some time now and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere is fun and the service was very good, the waitress knew alot about the menu and was very helpful for us first timers. The food came out fast and was delicious. I'm sure my kids would go back and they'd like to try the trivia! Would recommend.

Food was good but my asparagus serving size consisted of only 4 spears. My peanut butter whiskey was good.

The food and drinks were amazing! I had the "That's that me espresso" and it was delicious. My sister loved her Cosmo. Kimmy S. was a superb server and I can't think of a way to build on the great service I received. Kudos to the bartender for the amazing drinks as well.

It was our first time here and we will be back. The service was friendly and efficient. Our Server was knowledgeable about the food and beer menu. The seating was high and low tops, booths and bar seating. We stayed for trivia which was well done. The answers are on the phone, not paper and pen. We all liked that change and thought it was easy too. Chicken fajita were very good with lots of chicken.

Heard about their Thursdays trivia, so def. wanted to try it out; gotta say it is much harder than any bar trivia I've ever done--like the jeopardy of bar trivia. Ordered the pirogies as an appetizer and was underwhelmed--flavor was bland, and pirogies appear to be deep fried in a fryer vs. in a sauté pan, which resulted in an end product that hardens as it cools. For the price I definitely feel like you should get a couple more. Husband had the chicken fajitas which he really liked. Best thing we ordered was the baked chocolate chip cookie w ice cream. What I'd definitely recommend is the cocktails; the restaurant's name should tell you everything you need to know about what they're known for. Whiskey choices abound; cocktails were strong and tasty--really enjoyed the espresso martini and the old fashioned. Service was just so-so. We had a table of eight, and our server never asked about refills (water or pop), and we had to snag her for more cocktails. Would I go again? Maybe, but just for drinks.

Not a very ambient atmosphere is more family style even though they have the largest whiskey offerings available. Asked for the burger to be medium and came out bloody.. not impressed whatsoever

Great local spot for yummy food and drink, especially nonother than whiskey! Came on a Saturday in the late afternoon, the place was quiet and it took a good few minutes before any staff member greeted us. Inside has a lot of space with a nice bar and outside seating. Rustic type of vibe with high tops, booths, tables, and a fireplace. This place is the place to get a cocktail! So many options. I went with the black walnut woman which has Buffalo Trace, maple syrup, black walnut bitters and muddled orange. My husband ordered the Apple Butter Jeans which has Elijah Craig bourbon, apple cider, fresh lemon juice, ginger beer, and bitters. Both were refreshing and a depth of flavor. Food is also delicious. The homemade pierogis were absolutely amazing! Fried perfectly and a great portion. The Bourbon Tenderloin Tips had a nice flavor but the beef was a little tough. The Whiskey Rae's Burger was also a great portion and the pulled pork was smoky and tasty. Spinach and artichoke dip was pipping hot and flavorful. Had a great experience and can't wait to go back and try something new.

Stopped in on a Thursday while visiting a conference. The restaurant was aesthetically pleasing, well lit, and had college basketball sweet 16 playing on all of the TVs. We started off on a rocky start since our Blue berry vodka drink didn't taste good and had no hint of liquor in them. Sent them back and ordered basic vodka-cran. Next, I order 3 appetizers for the table: Calamari, steak tips, and nachos. Out of the 3, I'd order the pork nachos again. The steak and calamari were soooo overcooked and chewy. As for dinner, one had soup, another person had a salad, two people had burgers, and the last person had seared tuna. Burgers were well-WELL done with no flavor. Everything was described as ok but with a shrug. Drinks were ok but the food was hit or miss. I'd come here again for just for drinks and ambiance.

The burger was huge! Food tasted great, and the bartender was fun. What more can you ask for in a whiskey bar? Oh yea, that's right, a huge whiskey selection! I'll be back for sure.

Went here to grab a quick few drinks one evening. Should have known from the name they had whiskey but was pleasantly surprised by how many options were available. A lot of places don't abide by the naming. All different types from all over the world. My first few options were not available so a QR code option might make the process more efficient so it took a few tries before mine was available. Only had an app which was decent. Will definitely be back to see if the food helps elevate this to a 5 star.

Took my team there for lunch. Everyone was really happy with their food. Couldn't enjoy the Whiskey Bar but it looked extensive. Service was also pretty good.

One of the best spots in the area, hands down. The food is always incredible and never misses. The bartenders Jake and Natalie are both awesome and the service is impeccable!! The place is decorated with such a cool industrial theme and they always have the TVs going with the games on. My recs for food- French Dip Maple bourbon glazed salmon Calamari Eryn wedge salad Salmon cake burger But truly you can't miss with anything here!! All in all an amazing neighborhood spot that you'll be sad to miss out on!

Let's start off with the stellar ambiance this place provides. If you're a bourbon drinker this place is for YOU! They literally have everything you've wanted to try at reasonable prices. The service was kind and attentive. They also brought our food and drinks quickly! As for the Rueben sandwich it was very lack luster and I wouldn't order it again since it was very dry. I'll definitely be back to try some other dishes!

I called to ask of they take reservations for two people, the woman said they don't take reservations. Pause. Then I asked if two of us could walk in, she replied yes. Ok. It used to be Avery's before it became Whisky Rae's. They have a wall of shelves of over 200 whiskeys at the bar too. They are out of Turkey burger, Porter house and tap #7 tonight. We ordered the 6 herb roasted chicken with an upcharge of onion rings ($3), house salad with honey mustard and side of broccolini, duck grilled cheese with an up charge of crispy waffle fries and a Cobb salad sans bacon, ranch dressing on the side. There was a $1 charge for the side of whisky BBQ sauce. Our waitress waitress is nice, attentive and helpful too. She asked if we wanted the food all at once or when it's done. I said whenever it's done. She let us know the sides that were an upcharge as well while ordering too. She brought us side plates when I told her we are sharing all of the food. The house salad is ok. The Cobb salad is okay as well. No romaine in our Cobb, it's mixed lettuce, which I don't mind at all. I do like the black slate plates as well, but they look like they are hard to clean. The duck grilled cheese is just ok. Duck was a bit to fatty for a sandwich for me and there just wasn't enough cheese to qualify as a grilled cheese sandwich for us. The duck is still yummy with the seasonal berry sauce. The seasonal berry sauce is good, maybe a bit thicker so it doesn't all run off the sandwich? Plating the grilled cheese makes it more appealing to see the meal and cheese as well. The 6 herb chicken has nice flavor for sure, the leg and parts are a bit dry though. The breast is dry as well. Good flavor but need to work on not overcooking the chicken. Kurtis checked up on us and took some constructive feedback on the chicken and the duck grilled cheese. Kurtis did acknowledge that they have had some complaints about the chicken being too dry. Kayla took really good care of us tonight. She's on it. Really good at what she does for sure. I wish everyone that ever waited on us had half her skillset. Iron out a few items and they are on the right track.

Food is amazing like home cooking, gourmet style... you can tell they put the love and passion into their art/craft. In my opinion such a fair price to keep a customer coming back to there outstanding flavors. I have been there 6 times in the past 3 months have had something different every time and it always has coming back for more. Awesome whisky/beer/ &wine selection as well...

Great Bourbon Selection & Seasonal cocktails list. Checked out Whiskey Rae's on a late Saturday night and hour before the the kitchen closed, waitress was super friendly and helpful with the menu. The spinach & artichoke dip was creamy & cheesy! We will be back to explore more of their signature cocktails and menu items!

Jake and Curtis made our night! So glad to have finally visited this bar. The interior design is very cool. Variety of seating. We had the bar to ourselves on a rainy weeknight. Big parking lot and great location near highways. The whiskey selection is excellent (big surprise). The prices are fair, but on the higher side. Would love to see if they have happy hour. Slim pickings for vegan eats. I think we ordered fries which are fried in the same friolater as the meat. But we're psyched to come here and drink.

I'll be honest. Avery's was one of our favorite spots during the pandemic restrictions and I was very surprised to see it go. But we are always excited to find a new spot so we wanted to give if a try Apparently, it's the same owners and it's been rebranded so it's almost like they just changed the name. Not a whole lot has changed. Getting here was quite a challenge. M59 is full of construction. It's quite crazy to be honest. Trying to get around the construction was also a challenge. But we were determined. When you walk in you are greeted by a host/hostess. It was somewhat busy, and we wanted to sit outside so we were told there would be a short wait. We sat and the bar and ordered a couple of beers. Before the bartender could bring them we were being seated. He ordered an Oktoberfest (it's about that time!) I ordered a red. I didn't notice a lot of change inside. The same rustic look as before. I did notice a lot of fabulous signature cocktails have been added. We were sticking to beers though. We were seated outside at a high top with a wonderful fire pit in the middle. They have really done a fabulous job with their outdoor area. They have a huge bar area out there which is a fabulous addition. There are huge high top areas and even an area with couches. There were also picnic tables. We notice quite a diverse age group there. Every thing from babies to elderly. And even a dog! So, it's quite family friendly. Definitely will be a great outdoor option this fall as it gets cooler and dark earlier. The menu has changed and the options were very interesting. I ordered the shrimp and polenta. I wasn't sure about the polenta. But it was really quite good. That came with soup or salad. He loves his burgers. They had quite a lot of unique burger choices. He got a burger topped with pulled pork and bacon. Now, to me, that seems like too much. I like w much more simple burger. I don't even like a lot of condiments on my burger. But he gobbled it up. I would definitely suggest checking this place out. We will definitely be back. Our experience was quite good and we have always had a positive one coming to this location. We will definitely be back!

-torn between 3-4 stars. Gave 4 - a sunny Saturday- why not ? Shared a duck grilled cheese and a build ur own burger.upgraded to onion rings on 1- other came with decent homemade? Chips.everything tasted good - not great. Duck came with blueberry dip. Place is decorated kind of kool. Bourbon lovers place. Was deserted- no customers , but was odd time, near 3 pm. Waitress was really good. Large selection of craft cocktails.

Came here for cocktails and a app and it was SOOOO good.The notorious FIG was the best bourbon cocktail I've ever had, SO delightful. The agent orange was tasty too! We shared the steak bites and they were perfectly cooked and the sauce was great. Perfect location as well, right on the bike path. I can't wait to go back and try more cocktails here.

Best selection of bourbon I've seen outside of Kentucky. Reasonable pricing, owner was knowledgeable and enjoyed talking whiskey. They are short on selection of the usual very pricey stuff... Buffalo Trace Heritage, Pappy, etc... but that's fine with me... other places are happy to take your $100 for an ounce. It's made up for with some interesting picks of less absurdly priced stuff. Look forward to returning and trying the food.

Do you feel like anything with Whiskey, or Whisky if your Scottish, in the name should be good? I mean that's like Babe Ruth calling his shot in game 3 of the 1932 World Series. Name yourself Whiskey? Then you'd better bring it. I am talking top shelf Bourbon or Scotch. Knob Creek 15 year? Stagg 12 year? Bulleit single barrel? Makers Cask Strength? Bring it on Rae! Even some Eagle Rare would suffice. I could go on all day about the wonders of Bourbon, but overall I would say you will leave satisfied. Plus it's off the Clinton River Trail. Now don't get crazy and bike all the way here to drink a bunch and then ride back. We here at the Jason Channel promote responsible drinking. But it's off the trail, and on a nice day, a bike ride with a little Bourbon might get be nice!

They did here was average. The prices are good, but the food itself was bland. The brisket chili had no heat abs needed to have both salt and pepper added to it. The filet was overcooked abs butterflied, yet was ordered as medium rare. The smashed potato was good, yet quite small in portion. The broccolini was cooked decently, although a little under cooked. The beet salad was average as well. The buffalo trace whiskey was definitely good though. Would not consider this ac destination place, but some places to go fur AM average meal and a good drink. Unfortunately very underwhelming.

after a looooong day working, i was looking forward a relaxing dinner time. headed to Whiskey Rae, where I love the bourbon's list ! new menu, Clara, was our waitress and went the extra mile to make sure we had a great dinner experience. Bourbon was really nice, as always, I LOVED the smoked walleye pâté, house made and not overloaded with cream cheese, meat quality is really really good, service is amazing. Will definitely come back ! that bourbon's list is so tempting me, I need to have the wild salmon steak and Clara is a fabulous person!

My wife and I ate here on a Friday night and it was a great experience. Their outdoor patio is awesome, especially when it's evening because they have a cool fireplace and plenty of comfortable seating. Then food was delicious, we had caprese salad as an appetizer and then had a great meal. I had nachos and my wife had the filet and I had the nachos...The pulled pork nachos were awesome as an entree and we felt plenty full. The atmosphere was great, tons of open seating and large TVs for the big game or just hanging out with friends. It's also a great date spot with plenty of nice / casual atmosphere to take in. I loved their beer and whiskey / bourbon selection, there was so much to choose from. We definitely can't wait to come back.

Very good service but very bad food. Chicken wings were okay. Burgers were awful. Ordered medium-rare and received a well-done burger that tasted like it came straight out of the freezer. Would consider coming back for outdoor patio ambiance and large drink selection but not for food.

We love coming here. The patio is a great spot to have dinner and their menu is quite big. Pizza was better than I thought and we've had good service. Liked it when it was Avery's and love it as Whiskey Rae's.

Meh, we won't be rushing back here any time soon. This space seems to have the kiss of death, nothing seems to last here. I was hoping that Whiskey Rae's would be a great change and a new local favorite l, but sadly that was not the case. It's a shame because the inside looks gand their outdoor patio is nice. But the food here just simply was not good. I ordered a steak, it was completely overcooked not medium rare like I ordered. It was also so incredibly salty I couldn't eat it. It was served with two sad pieces of broccoli that were underdone and two tiny smashed redskin potatoes. It was a poor excuse for a dinner. My husband said his burger was just okay.

The food and service is fantastic.Great atmosphere. My wife and I by chance stopped here.What a nice place.

Pretty good option for upscale bar food and great atmosphere. Had an average bourbon selection but definitely had the classics.

Love is.... A full table of delicious food and the person that you love. Hubby and I have just been loving it here. The sausage platter with the mustard. The pulled pork nachos! Hubby and I are supposed to share, we always end up ordering two plates. The fish and chips are delicious. I may have one too many mixed drinks. Hubby gets a giggly bride on the way home. The service is always great, the food is wonderful. You will not regret sitting down at the bar to chat with their friendly and knowledgeable bar tenders. Whiskey Rae's you knock it out of the park. I'd love to personally meet Rae and thank them.

Great food, great atmosphere! Great outdoor seating with fire. Good for the family or date night! Bartenders keep the drinks flowing!

Our first time stopping in after living in the area for 7 months and I'm SO HAPPY we finally did! We'll be making this a regular stop. The food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was wonderful and the staff was attentive & knowledgeable. Oh and the bourbon selection was beautiful, just beautiful!!! For dinner we (4 of us) had the smoked wings which are now going to be a weekly for me! Whole wings at that! The French dip(I'd get this every time!) w/ tator tots, the roasted beet salad, the brisket sandwich (not the best and wouldn't order it again. It tasted off and over cooked), the filet which was tender, juicy and cooked to perfection, and side salads. I wish I would have gotten pictures but we were having such a great time out phones didn't come out. I highly recommend!

Great place. Came for lunch. Super quiet, happened to arrive after lunch crowd. Wonderful calamari with sauce. Husband thought corned beef sandwich was good. Ahi tuna tacos (3), were huge and delicious. If you're a whiskey lover, this is the place for you. Place can get packed during dinner hour. When we did go during dinner, still great service. Thank you Morgan for a great relaxing lunch. Good happy hour too!!

First thing we wanted to try was a pizza - the stoves weren't getting hot enough. No pizza. Then we wanted steak bites - they're out of that meat. Okay.. no steak bites. We decided to split a porterhouse that came with a zip sauce. Neither of us liked the sauce and we usually are sauce lovers. It tasted sour like it was old or something. We really weren't impressed and are sad to see Avery's go. We might come back for Whiskey sometime.

Our Corvette Club held our December dinner at Whiskey Rae's - Rochester Hills. It was an excellent choice. Atmosphere, food, and service was outstanding. Emily, our server, did an amazing job for a very large group. She was very impressive. Thank you.

Stopped in late Friday afternoon. Friendly attentive service. Enjoyed the monster chicken wings as an app. Wife had the corn beef sandwich and I had the Whiskey Rae's burger. Both with fries. Good food with no complaints. Drink menu [whiskey, rye, bourbon] very extensive. Would go again.

Jeff the owner was super nice, he gave my 22 yo son a free birthday drink and gave us a rundown of bourbon, little bit of history and was just very personable! I enjoy restaurants that make you feel like you're hanging out at a friends house

Met a friend here for a late lunch in a Monday and we were the only people in the place. A bit nervous that might mean food was sub-par but boy, were we wrong! Food was delicious and our waitress was wonderful. Extremely friendly and helpful! Even the decor was fun. Will be back.

This place ain't going to make it. The salad was nothing but lettuce that didn't look very clean. I get it, this is a bar. Ordered fish was supposed to come with waffle fries but I got chips. When I asked the waitress she said it comes with either one. Never offered the fries to me. Coleslaw was gross. Service was bad. Fish was soggy and seemed under done. Drinks were ok. If you think this place has bbq cause that goes with whiskey you're wrong. It's a pass for me. Go across the street to the clubhouse. Good service, good food, everything is better over there.

Not good. I ordered the roasted beet salad. There was nothing Roasted about the beets as they came ice cold most likely right from the can. The lettuce did not appear to be washed . I added chicken to my salad, that was cooked ok but lacked flavor. I told the wait staff and was dismissed. Will not be going back until they step up their game. Please bring back Taco Loco or Avery's!

Another great dinner at Whiskey Rae's. Fish and chips are very good and the Kentucky Mules are my favorite. The staff is very attentive with great personality. The price is very good too. I highly recommend this place.

I really wanted to like this place and for me, it did not disappoint. Because of the poor reviews posted, I was very hesitant and not sure what to expect. I found the service some of the best in the area. We were a group of almost 30 and though still slightly under staffed as are most establishments post COVID we received excellent service . Our main server Carrie was cordial, attentive and precise with our orders. The owner Jeff was so impressive as he stepped up as as server since they are short staffed. He still made it his priority to check in with tables throughout the restaurant. The ambiance is very nice and the patio is gorgeous especially at night. The food was good and they are striving for excellence...I think they can get there because the staff and owner really care. They took all requests to heart with delivered. I will definitely return.

So pleased with this restaurant and the changes they made from the old Avery's. The patio is one of a kind with a full bar outside and very fun to hang out there when music is playing and people are out! Great food and drinks with an amazing selection of bourbon! Can't wait for it to open up a bit more (Sundays/lunch).

We were driving by not sure where to eat since griffin class had an hour wait (to be expected)and I told my husband, "turn back! They renovated that old Avery's place! " We each had a salad I had the wedge, he had a Cobb. Both very good, nice portions. I prefer my wedge traditional on iceberg, this was "fancy" romaine. But good, either way. Pierogi app fresh from Hamtramck! Great service, fast, extensive beer list. Hubby is a bourbon guy, he wasn't that impressed but to get the good stuff you have to sit at the bar. So maybe next time we can get a seat there to figure out the goods!
