Whiskylucan Mexican Restaurant Opens in Miami, Florida - Eater Miami

"Whiskylucan is a lively and popular Mexican restaurant with four successful outposts in Mexico; this marks the brand's first location in the United States. The restaurant offers a variety of Mexican favorites, including Mexican corn, melted queso fundido, guacamole, and sweet and savory guava and cheese tequenos. Main courses include tacos filled with al pastor or rib eye, crispy tostadas topped with shrimp or tuna, flautas, sopes, and tortas. The bar features an extensive selection of tequilas, mezcal, Mexican craft beers, jumbo margaritas, and Micheladas served in Hello Kitty cups. The venue also includes a section called Shotimilco, open from Thursday to Saturday, 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., offering bottle service and late-night street food." - Olee Fowler

Great Mexican Spot with a great atmosphere. The food was good and so were the drinks the minor issue that I had was when it came to the bill and when server brought it up to their manager it took a while to ratify the issue which was a charged item on my bill when I never got said item after all they did issue a refund but the fact that they had to go around and ask was kind of odd even though I understand it. The place also has a lounge on the back of the restaurant to chill and dance with an equipped with a bar. I would give them a chance in the hopes everything improves for the better overall

I loved the vibe here! Ana maria is literally the most sweetest person ever. Her service made my experience better. She was very attentive and the food was really good. I would recommend, the food is good and the vibes are definitely there

Here visiting Miami before a cruise with my partner. I grew up in a primarily Mexican neighborhood in Chicago…so I’m used to and throughly enjoy authentic Mexican food! This definitely hit the spot and I was not expecting this…just took a walk and here we are! Good prices! Good food! Good service! That $25 frozen drink was a hit too! Definitely going to stop here again! We had Allyson as a server and she was great! Very social and kind, and very attentive to our needs. Good recommendations and upbeat. Our phones are dead and check in at our hotel is in a few hours. She let us charge our phone with her charger! 🥹

Ana Maria was a perfect server. She had great suggestions and was very friendly. The pork tacos was very good and I loved the happy hour margarita was flavorful. I'll definitely be back.

Google
We had such a great time here 2 weeks ago! As locals, we’re always looking for fun, walkable spots with good happy hour deals, and Whiskylucan seemed perfect. On our first Taco Tuesday, tacos were $2 and select drinks were $5—it was a blast. The service was pretty slow, but we didn’t mind much because we enjoyed the atmosphere and watching the games on TV. We were excited to come back the next Tuesday, planning to make it a regular thing—but when we found out the deal had changed to just $2 off, we didn’t even end up staying. What was once a roughly $50 outing turned into something way over $100 —not the same vibe at all. We love the concept, and really wanted this to be our go-to, but between the price hike and the consistently poor service, we’re not sure we’ll be back. I didn’t think I'd be saying this, but somehow South Beach is winning on value. Yikes. Really hope they reconsider!

We enjoyed a live DJ, fast friendly service and delicious food!! We had a green chicken tamale, the sopes sampler, two giant margaritas, and the churrasco platter. The meat was so well seasoned (across all dishes) and delicious. Our waiter Giovani always had a smile, made great recommendations, and was amazing. A must try in Miami.

We made a reservation at 9:15pm for 7 people. Once arriving we were asked if we wanted a seat in the back or the front and we just said wherever was warmer so we sat in the front of the restaurant near the open windows and bar. Our server did not speak much English which was fine because she spoke enough to get by and still provided great service. Everything was taken down on a handheld device and kept track of with each of our names which was nice. We ordered two Mexican mojitos that came with a cute souvenir mini sombrero on top and a jumbo margarita that 4 of us shared. Our table also got a complimentary basket of chicharrones which were great. For food, we ordered a quesadilla, quesabirria tacos, and asada tacos. We were given two sauces at the table: one green and one red. Our table probably used the entire green bottle on our food because it was so good. It was sour and thick which is something I love. Not spicy at all. It went great on the asada tacos. All of the food tasted amazing. We each paid our own bills and it was easy since everything was ordered attached to each of our names. At some point during our meal, the mariachi arrived and began playing for us which was very entertaining. Overall, the experience went smoothly and the food was very good. We had a fun time! I am still dreaming about those asada tacos with the green sauce.

Yelp
This place isn't bad, but it definitely "could've been better". While in Miami, my cousin and I were looking for a spot to watch football in Little Havana. We came across Whiskylucan. On the surface, they have TV and they did have the Dolphins game on. But music was just too loud. The service was fairly slow. And the atmosphere just wasn't comfortable to the point that you'd want to hang out for a couple of hours to watch a game. The plan was to eat, drink, and watch football. Instead we ended up leaving after one drink. Again, certainly not the worst spot. But there are a few minor things they could do to make it much more inviting. I'd start with just turning the volume down a little so you don't have to speak so loudly.

Yelp
The three star average on Yelp sounds about right, if maybe a bit generous. After passing by many times when driving in Calle Ocho, I stopped by for an early dinner after my jog. I found the place half empty, with maybe 2 or 3 other tables taken including one by a vendor selling arts & crafts in the restaurant. Foodwise, I liked that their chips are more like chicharrones. They serve them with a red sauce and a green sauce but no fresh pico de gallo. Four small cheese tequenos were decent, although not a classic Mexican restaurant dish. My burrito - although not on the menu - was really good, perfectly messy and they customized it with no guacamole. However, being deliciously messy means it fell apart on the plate. I almost had to channel Saul the barbershop client in "Coming to America" because I had to ask for and wait for utensils. There were none already at the table. Of course, there is an 18% automatic gratuity as well as the prompt asking for more while the server stands in front as you pay.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and really wish the experience I had was better. The black hair server was absolutely terrible. We came in for the specials for taco Tuesday and when asking her about it, she looked repulsed. She put in our orders for drinks, bought them, and never came back to ask us what we wanted to eat. I had to get up from the table to go tell her what me and my bf wanted. I also asked for a water and she never bought it until my bf mentioned it again. We wanted to order more, however she sat down and got on her phone as seen in the photo so we had to literally shout out for her attention. And tip was automatically included so although she did a terrible job serving, at least she still got her tip! Welcome to Miami

Yelp
Great place drinks are amazing. Just stopped by for some libations. Had some guacamole and chips really cool. Love the decor and atmosphere. The server was friendly, and bartender was on point. Next time in Miami, I will stop by.

Came for my boyfriends bday and Food was great service was BADDD first time was better.. great location ambiance was great the blonde hair lady working at night should be fired did a review for a free shot she said it wasn't valid ! we ordered birthday shots and they gave it to another table which if they would have brought both at the same time would've been super nice next time we come in the day time !

Yelp
Super cool spot! The food was great, the service was superb. The ambiance was perfect! I love that they have the restaurant in the front and then towards the back a lounge where you can kick back, enjoy some good music and just have a good time! The restaurant itself was super cool they did some karaoke in which the employees also participated, they played some games with reward at the end and overall I will definitely come back!

Yelp
This place is so cute and has a very mexican vibe. I will say I think the menu isn't 100% mexican to appeal to others, for examples, we don't really eat arepas or tequenos but they're on the menu, lol. What I did have which was the queso fundido and the sopes were good. The micheladas were delicious. Towards the back they have a mini club called shotimilco and had a fun vibe. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. I hope this place sticks around, I personally enjoyed it very much

Yelp
Came here for a birthday and the vibe in this place is just immaculate. I love the fact that the music just sets the tone. We got the chance to eat and dance. Tacos never go wrong! The waitresses and waiters did great for such a big party.

Yelp
The business is amazing. I'm genuinely impressed with how colorful and decorative the place is. The food has received a re-work and the new menu is amazing prior to the previous one. The service is also great as well, the staff is really great and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you're more into the alcoholic beverages. The margaritas are great, and so are the food. Props to the owner, you have an amazing business!

Yelp
Was hoping this place would be good. I almost gave it a 2 out of 5. The good: - high ceilings - good sound system - 4 big TVs The bad: - one waitress for 14 tables. - server bringing food from kitchen. - this was a Saturday night! - food was cold - food was not very good at all The ugly - already included 18% tip and the machine asked for tip. They didn't offer a paper receipt so we could see what we were being charged. - the hostess sitting outside was also the busboy - no waters - no silverware until we asked twice Go once nicer go again. Management needs a complete overhaul or this place will go bankrupt.

Yelp
The tacos de barritas were fantastic but the taco de Baja were ok. Fun atmosphere. Lots of hot latinas

Yelp
If you're looking to party, while you're eating your tacos, go to Whiskylucan. Their carne asada was delicious in both the arepa and tacos. Wish they had flour tortillas, corn tortillas are not my preference. Service was good, very attentive and waiter knew the menu well. New restaurant with a vibe.

Yelp
We got 2 burritos and 2 sodas. It came out to $75. When the menu said $15 per burrito. Was it $15 for the sodas as well?? What the hell. The burritos were terrible. The service was bad and Daniela should be fired. Incredibly rude. Overall a waste of time and money. The service fee Tip of 18% was included which was not deserved at all. So ridiculous. Terrible food, terrible service, even the booths were uncomfortable. Horrible experience. Next time try el taco just a few blocks away. You WONT be disappointed.

Yelp
Chips were not fresh at all! The guacamole had too much lemon/lime not enough salt or peppers. The drink I had which was said to be "feminine" tasted like BAND AIDS! Yes bandaids .. I don't know how to explain that but I understand why it was so dead. I have it one star for this reason. At least it was nicely decorated

Michele C.

Yelp
Service is good but the dj here wasn't all that. All he played was salsa, he needs to mix it up a bit, especially at a Mexican restaurant. It gets boring.
