"By the Nikolaifleet canal, one of the oldest buildings in Hamburg, which is located in the city's oldest street, is home to this appealing bar-cum-restaurant. Spanning a few floors, the space capitalises on the historical charm of the original structure (1697): Crystal chandeliers, wooden beams and modern furnishings as well as shelves lined with decorative bottles all come together to create a genuinely warm ambiance. The kitchen serves its modern take on classic cuisine as a sophisticated set menu or à la carte. Highlights include scallop with barley, salt marsh herbs, apple, seaweed caviar and beurre blanc, or flat iron steak with pumpkin seed dumplings, kalette, mushrooms, apple and cheese. Given the restaurant's name, it might come as no surprise that the extensive selection of spirits includes around 1 100 whiskies." - Michelin Inspector

I visited Whiskyplaza Bar early in the afternoon to explore their whisky selection, which was truly magnificent. The bar boasts more than a thousand different whiskeys, all organized beautifully. It was one of the most impressive selections I’ve ever seen in a bar. The barlady was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and eager to help, guiding me through a few different drams. I also tried some dishes from their lunch menu, including the asparagus with sirloin steak and the cured salmon on a waffle. While the food was good, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it as a lunch spot. However, it’s an outstanding destination for whiskey enthusiasts and whiskey tastings.

Hands down the best whisky bar in thr world. Not sure why it only got a 4.4 rating here, but this bar has everything a whisky lover would look for: Drinks: - Over 1000 whisky available for selection - some of them are exclusive bottling only for his bar. - Single malt based cocktails. - All whisky tasting goes with sea salt dark chocolates and water. - Free popcorns with powders of paprika, black pepper and cumin - these pair extremely well with the smoky whisky. Food: All dishes that they have on the menu pair extremely well with whisky too, in particular: - whisky rhubarb cake has a fresh and unique taste. - the coffee / espresso based dessert is one of the best desserts I have ever tried. Service: - the staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable, speaks very good English explaining everything in detail Environment: - it is a quiet bar with background music at the right volume (not too loud) and the seats are very comfortable I only had 2 days in Hamburg and am grateful to have spent an evening there. It is one of those can't miss restaurants / bars and I will definitely be back whenever I visit Hamburg in the future!

A place every whisky lover should absolutely AVOID. Upon entering, a rude female staff member insisted on telling us where to sit—even though the place was completely empty. She then told us we were not allowed to look at the whisky menu on the chair and proceeded to snatch it away from me without asking. When I decided to leave and pay the bill, she called me a “f*ck*ng idiot.” After checking recent reviews, I realized I’m not the only one who’s been treated this way. This woman is arrogant, aggressive, and completely unfit to interact with customers. This isn’t a bar for whisky lovers—it’s a place for disrespect, ego, and verbal abuse. Do yourself a favor and stay far away. Total waste of time, money, and nerves.

Profiled and asked to leave. It’s a slow Monday night. 8pm. Maybe 10 customers in the whole place. I was given a table at the back of the restaurant section past the bar. As I was about to take off my jacket and sit down, I was informed that I did not meet the dress code. I was wearing black adidas pants. The waitress could have said something at the door but walked me through the whole place to the back only to humiliate me. It’s not a “sports” bar I was told. Ok. However, as I was leaving, I see a woman wearing jeans with a rip in it. As if that was better dress code. I returned to state that I was told to leave however other patrons with ripped jeans were permitted to stay. The response to my complaint was people wearing sports clothes always complain and act this way. First night in Hamburg. First full day in Germany. Nice to see that profiling and judging based solely on looks is still alive and well here. I’ll be leaving Germany tomorrow.

Loved this place. The drinks were amazing and the food was too. Just a heads up, the menu changes from their dinner menu yo their late night menu at 9:30pm. We were there for the night menu and it was still delicious and the serving size was good. I would come back here and recommend it to others.

An absolutely fantastic spot in the heart of Hamburg. Great cocktails including the unusual ones (go for Last Word!), exhaustive whiskey card and amazing classic food with modern twist. The service is 20/10. Love it!

Went there for lunch: Loved the „Sunday Roast“ - great food and nice interior. Bar looks great.
