White Dog Cafe Review - University City - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Doing the basics of your job is expected. Like if you’re a babysitter, you make sure the kids don’t fall down the stairs, and if you’re a motivational speaker, you say cliche things into a microphone. But being great at what you do takes a lot more than just the bare minimum, which is where White Dog Cafe comes up short. It does all of the easy things well, but anytime it tries to get creative with the menu, the results are a letdown. White Dog Cafe is located inside a little brownstone next to Penn's campus that's full of fake taxidermied dog heads on the walls and has one of those menus that doesn’t quite fit in a box. You’ll see everything from pasta to arepas to pho, which makes it an easy choice for students to bring their parents when they want to prove to them that they’re actually respectable adults. The versatile menu also means that, whether you’re here for a weeknight dinner or a weekend brunch, White Dog is usually busy. The problem is that even though the menu has lots of things that look creative and interesting, they all ultimately fall very flat. Like the seared yellowfin tuna, which is served in a bowl with vermicelli noodles, bok choy, some pickled chili peppers, and then, as if they mixed up their recipes, braised beef brisket. A server pours an herb pho broth over the whole thing and even though the presentation is impressive, it’s actually a very bland and criminally overpriced ($33) bowl of pho. The broth is basically warm brown water, the seared tuna is well-cooked but completely flavorless, and the brisket, which is the only thing that has any sort of distinguishable flavor, is somehow dry even when it’s soaked in the broth. If this was the only sad dish on the menu, we might just call it an anomaly and move on, but there are a lot of other things that end up being flavorless or otherwise off. The arepas are so dry that you’ll have to flag the waiter down for a refill of water every few bites. And the Kennett Square Mushroom Soup, which has been on their menu for years, has the consistency of a watery smoothie and tastes pretty much just like truffle oil, with no other seasoning. There are still reasons you might end up at White Dog, like at the request of a family friend who’s helping you do your taxes or when you need a place near Penn to meet someone for a quick drink and some roasted garlic hummus. And it is possible to eat a decent (if a bit overpriced) meal here if you stick to the dishes that are hard to screw up, like the pulled pork mac & cheese or the butternut squash ravioli. It’s just not a place you need to go out of your way to try." - Sydney McElwee

Came here on the recommendation of a business associate. The atmosphere is decorated in the theme of dogs and antiques. Our server, Emily, was prompt, courteous and attentive. Being near the mushroom capital of the world, Kennett Square, I ordered the mushroom soup. It was velvety smooth with the rich full flavor of mushrooms. Meal selections included salmon, flounder picatta and BBQ ribs. The food was great. However, the air conditioning was on full blast. One guest ordered hot tea during the meal "to warm up". It put a damper on a delicious meal. That is why I gave the atmosphere only 4 stars. When this was brought to the attention of the staff, we were told they "can't do anything about it".

We had a great time in this beautiful restaurant. The restaurant quaint and pleasant. The bar looks amazing and we were blown away by the decor. Each space in the restaurant has a unique look. The food was amazing, get the bread basket! I had a great cup of tea, delivered the traditional English style. Next mushroom soup a great salad and crab cakes. This place is great!

This place is so cute! We came for Sunday lunch around 12:30. Our waitress was so sweet and the atmosphere inside is so cute with all the dogs. For the table we shared the donuts and deviled eggs, both were delicious! For our meals we had the shrimp and grits, fried chicken sandwich, Lancaster omelette and scrapple, and the special of the day breakfast nachos chilaquiles. We all enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back to try more! We enjoyed this location more than the Wayne location.

This is one of my new favorite places! The whole restaurant is chic but cozy and the theme is dogs! And the patio is dog friendly. I was in heaven! The food was delicious and you could tell they took their time with everything.

Google
My favorite happy hour place! Their menu can’t be beat. They have the best options and best pricing. Also their seating is so comfy and the atmosphere is so cool. $6 for a ceaser salad that’s enough for 10 people is my go to. Also their truffle Fries are delicious

Google
Absolutely delicious brunch in a quaint, converted cottage/farmhouse in rural PA! The vibes here are amazing with dog themed decor everywhere. The brunch menu was tantalizing and there were too many options to choose from but I was happy with the omelet and side of scrapple I ordered. The food was perfectly seasoned and portioned and the honey glaze on my scrapple was a nice touch!

White dog always have top tier decor for each of their store and the Chester Spring one is no different. It is homey and cozy, everywhere you look there are cute doggy portrait. We ordered the deviled egg to share as app, the fried chicken sandwich and the Kennet Square omelette as entree. Everything is tasty but the chicken sandwich is the clear star. Everyone is super nice and just overall a wonderful experience. It does take a bit of time for the food to come out, so budget plenty of time for your meal.

Google
A beautiful cafe with a very nice aesthetic. Each room they had had something special to them. As the name suggests the place had a dog theme. The drinks and food were very good and the staff excellent.

Yelp
Overall, a solid experience at White Dog. Service was great and very attentive. Food was good (pierogies, eggplant parm, deviled eggs, onion dip). Eggplant parm had the tiniest amount of cheese/sauce which left it a little dry. Found the wine prices they charged didn't actually match the menu so I let the waiter know (and handled well). I have two pet peeves with White Dog. First one is the seating. It's always odd and uncomfortable. They tried to be ecclectic with all different seating that looks like they were picked up at tag sales but they are usually uncomfortable. Second pet peeve is the incredibly annoying charge for paying by credit card. C'mon it's 2025 - most pay with a credit card so this is just a way to pass on all their credit card charges to you when it really is just a cost of doing business. What next, an electricity charge, a water charge? If you really want to encourage people to pay with cash, turn it into a experience benefit by offering a 2% DISCOUNT if you pay cash. This is especially annoying since they are already way above market pricing for food/drink.

Yelp
Love this place! It was our first time there. We had a lovely day for brunch on the patio. Excellent food & drink menu. Great food & service. Love the decor & theme! Great place for dinner!

Yelp
Part deux of Jeff's review of the White Dog Cafe, Chester Springs, PA I ordered the French Onion soup (FOS) which was amazing , the best I have had in a long, long time ... like, maybe forever! I topped off my culinary experience for the afternoon with the Salmon and Artichoke Croquettes (SAC). The SAC was incredibly tasty and (a bit) zesty. More Zesty than I would normally eat but I had just been starving so the fresh new taste of the Sac went down extremely well on top of the FOS. Kim ordered the Kennett Square Mushroom Soup (KSMS). How can you go wrong by picking the mushroom soup from the mushroom capital of the world? You can't, she didn't and the KSMS did NOT disappoint! Kim rounded out her afternoon with the Beet & Arugula Salad (BAS). She claimed it too was delicious but I have to admit to some skepticism about anything containing beets!! We will definitely be back, SOON. I am looking forward to another taste explosion from the FOS. I will order the SAC again but request the zest be backed down a smidge. We loved the Midday atmosphere and menu. That may become our special dining time. I would be remiss if I did not say something about the service. Often when a restaurant is more empty than full, we have noticed a tendency among the wait staff to smother us. Not so at TWDC, at least not on our special afternoon! TYVM for being so observant and respectful of our desires!]! C'est magnifique, - bon mots that would have worked better for earlier incarnations of TWDC, when it was known as Vicker's Tavern

Yelp
We had a wonderful time here at the white dog cafe. I absolutely loved the pirogies! I actually found them to be quite filling even as an appetizer and the flavors were spot on. We also had the peach rice pudding and it was delicious! The perfect way to end our meal so sweet and refreshing. Service was fast, very cute but chic interior too!

Yelp
Very nice restaurant with great dog themed decor. Great especially if you like animals! Nice outdoor seating which can be used year round. The food was excellently prepared and all fresh and tasty. Nice sized portions too. Our waiter was very attentive and explained the menu well. Never rushed. The drinks were a little on the small side but tasty and well mixed. Didn't like the fact that a high end restaurant charged 3% for credit cards

Yelp
Dinner last week with a girlfriend. Love love love the space!!! The decor and vibe is just phenomenal! Great espresso martini! Meals were great! Nothing wildly amazing but good! I'll be back :)))

Yelp
I absolutely love the look of the new white dog however, I find the price for the food a little too much. Definitely not something I could take the family out to. We did go for a family brunch and it was over $100. For things like French toast and pancakes, which I thought definitely a little pricey for those types of items. However, their cocktails are good and their dinner food is good, but brunch is definitely overpriced.
google avatar

Yelp
The service was amazing. Seated right away even though my reservation was 30 minutes later. We loved our cocktails. Food came out quickly and was beautifully prepared and plated. A very festive, cozy atmosphere and we were glad we'd made the drive. Pricey but delicious.

Yelp
We enjoyed our experience from start to finish. Served Chris was excellent and we loved it all! I had the elderberry cucumber spritzer - fabulous flavor. French onion soup was very flavorful. Fried pickles were extra crispy- my husband said they were the best he's ever had. I had a green goddess dressing salad with blacked shrimp- delicious, and my husband had the flounder piccata with crabmeat. It was really tasty. We shared the lemon sour cream cake- so good! Beautiful space, looking forward to going back!

Yelp
I've been doing a number of the white dog establishments. I have to say out of all of them. This new location is what I would consider their flagship the ambience is outstanding, and the food selection at least at happy hour was very good. The drinks were well-made and tasty. The service was pretty good even though it was crowded. It regular places you're gonna pay a bit more, but if the food selection for happy hour is any indication, this location has a very good chef.

Yelp
Not great for delivery. Was at a local winery and decided to order from White Dog Cafe. The packaging was great. Delivery person was very kind. The food was fair. The charcuterie board was lackluster and light on food, possibly 3-4 cheese cubes. The whipped feta was fairy delicious except everything was mixed together in the same container with the cheese. Chicken Cesar salad was delightful as was the best salad. Overall, it was an OK lunch but over priced for quality/quantity of food. Likely would have been better in the restaurant

Yelp
This restaurant is master fully decorated; it is absolutely adorable and unique. There are so many little nook and cranny rooms decorated differently to choose from they have kept the integrity of the old structure in some of the rooms. There are two pub areas. The cozy pub has exposed old wood walls, and beams. My first complaint was that it was very loud. The one thing the designer forgot to do was add Textures that absorbed sound there weren't even very many people there and it just there was such an echo everywhere. The menu looked good except It was more towards a bar menu with heavier food than I would've expected from this caliber a restaurant; I thought I would find healthier options. There were no healthy options on the brunch menu, no fruit I had to ask for it and it just surprised me because Chester County is an affluent area with people who are health conscious. When I ordered an oat milk cappuccino ( no almond milk) all they had to offer me was real sugar which in this day and age, a lot of people don't use sugar so after about 10 minutes and it getting cold somehow they scrounged up some Stevia, which in my opinion should be readily available. The banana bread bread basket sounded like a delicious idea however we got it and it was full of chocolate chips That was not stated so I didn't want to even eat it. We felt that the service was slow and not well trained. I really wanted to love it here because the design is just absolutely adorable. There's nothing like it and I love animals however I've recently discovered that I have a severe dog allergy even though I had a Chihuahua for 14 years. I knew that people brought dogs here, but I was expecting with all the outdoor heated areas that is where they would stay, but of course one lady brought her big dog to sit literally right next to our booth when the whole place with plenty of room and lots of other places she could've sat or moved to. I had a full-blown allergy attack, blowing my nose and sneezing and coughing in the middle of my meal which she definitely noticed and just decided to sit where she was sitting when they were 30 other seats at that particular bar not next to our booth, so I have mixed reviews on my feelings about this place. I think I would return but only to sit in one of the outdoor open air areas for lunch since people with dogs are very selfish apparently and don't care if somebody has a severe allergy. I've noticed this allergy with bigger dogs, especially labradors. I find it strange that I really didn't have too much of a problem when I had a short haired Chihuahua, but I certainly have a very bad reaction to bigger dogs; maybe they should incorporate a dog free zone for people with allergies. I found that woman to be extremely rude and not moving further down the bar away from me and my mother with her dog after clearly hearing me have an analogy attack and explain to my mom why ( her dog seven feet from me) disrupted my entire experience.

Yelp
The cutest little restaurant in Chester Springs. Each room was uniquely decorated with a different look in the room with of course their signature dogs. We went for a quick adult lunch date between tournaments. I started with the autumn squash soup. The broth was rich and creamy. A nice start after sitting on a field for 5 hours. My entree was the goat ricotta app. I loved the creamy consistency of the whipped goat & ricotta. The fruits & nuts added that crunchy and sweet taste. I especially liked the pears on the dish. My only complaint was there wasn't balsamic glaze. My hubby had the fired chicken sandwich. He called it a high end chick fil-a. He loved it but it was a little pricey. Overall, a great experience. I would love to come back for dinner & drinks.

Yelp
The atmosphere is charming! Love the dog theme! The food was delicious! Husband had the mushroom soup which he claims is the best soup he's ever had. Crème Brûlée stole the show...absolute perfection! The service was attentive and met all expectations! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
When I am in town, this is one of my favorite spots to have brunch or dinner! This restaurant is so well decorated and each room has a completely different vibe. If you are a dog lover, you will love the pictures and decor! Honestly, everything here is delish! They also change their menu seasonally so there are always new options. For brunch, the cornbread app is a must try and my favorite entree is the shrimp and grits. For dinner, I love the hummus app, caesar salad, and eggplant parm. You really can't go wrong here! The bar has great signature cocktails as well. If you like a dirty martini, try their dirty dog cocktail. Can't wait to come back again and again and try their Fall menu!

Yelp
Decided to bring the doggies out to White Dog tonight as of Prior good experiences. Tonight couldn't have been more disappointing as the food was marginal at best and way over seasoned but worse was the service. The waiter literally came out two times the entire night never brought our cocktail reorder out. we couldn't even get dessert
google avatar

Yelp
I like the White Dog a lot, and have been to most of their locations at this point. My only gripe is that it's extremely expensive and while it's good, it's not worth the prices they charge. I loved the decor and the atmosphere of the new Chester Springs location. They have lots of tables and it is really unique and fun looking! The menu is similar to the other locations, and maybe it's just because they are newer but I don't think the quality is quite as great. The food was just ok and there were a few mistakes with our orders. Again it is very expensive for what you are getting, we went with 5-6 people and the bill was quite high, they also add a service fee for groups that size, which was not well advertised so just an FYI (I absolutely have no issue with this, but do think it should be clear)
google avatar

Arthur N.

Yelp
The newest White Dog is domiciled in a 19th century farmhouse that had served as Vickers Restaurant since 1972. The interior renovations are very attractive, although the rooms - especially the bar - can be extremely noisy. In warmer weather, the outdoor patio is definitely the place to be. A recent dinner - featuring Eggplant Milanese and Scallop & Shrimp Primavera - while not what I would consider exceptional, was, on the whole, quite satisfying. On the other hand, lunch a few days later was simply terrible. The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, sabotaged by a lethally spiced sour cream sauce and offputtingly tough & chewy dark meat, was positively the worst... with a combo of flavorless Kennett Square Mushroom Soup & bland-leading-the-bland Tuna Melt coming in a close second. The variable quality of the food notwithstanding, the service here, on both occasions, was right on the money. And Happy Hour prices - if you can stand the noise level - are hard to resist. On the other hand, when you realize that there are two tried & true restaurant favorites just around the corner - namely Ron's Original Bar & Grille and Limoncello - that srve up better food at comparable and, in many cases, less expensive prices... why would you choose to go to the dogs?

Yelp
I've got to give big props to White Dog Cafe for providing my parents & I a great evening dinner experience! I'm in town from Phoenix visiting my parents and wanted to eat somewhere with great atmosphere & food/ service, and White Dog checked all of those boxes with ease! Very friendly staff, and all the food was spot on. My Flounder Piccata was absolutely delicious, My Dad's NY Strip Truffle Frites were cooked to perfection, and my Mother's Eggplant Milanese was was thin, crispy, and one of the best Eggplant Milanese dishes I've ever had! My family is soo happy to have y'all in Chester Springs. See y'all again soon!

Yelp
This establishment is nicely decorated. We especially liked the older part of the building. Lots of old charm. I ordered a martini and husband ordered a Manhattan. I was disappointed that it was not poured into a classic Martini glass. Especially the other tables around me had their martinis in the proper glass. We did ask our server to correct it. The food was good. We both had soups and split the beet salad. Our entrees consisted of the halibut special (which was a little overcooked) and the meatloaf (that needed more binder to hold it together). We were disappointed that if you wanted bread you had to pay extra and if you wanted vegetables with your entree that was extra as well. We feel if you are paying high prices that should be included. It's debatable if we will return.

Yelp
We came in for a late dinner after driving two days to get into town. We were looking for a dog-friendly place open later that had fresh options. I cannot recommend White Dog Cafe enough. We sat on the patio, and got a bowl of water for our dog. The patrons and staff were extremely friendly. Multiple people came by to check-in frequently. We started with the crab dip and drinks, and they brought out extra bread for the dip when it ran out. Easily one of the best crab dips I've ever tasted. We had the Seafood Bucatini and Rainbow Trout. Sadly we were too full for dessert, but will be eating here again before we leave town! Five stars all around for the beautiful setting, excellent food, and amazing service. They were friendly right up until the end, and we stayed a minute until close. Never made us feel guilty, never rushed us, and even offered a dessert menu. I also appreciated how respectful and friendly the staff were to each other. After a long trip, we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Kicked off our first visit here in the best way. Do not miss!!!

Yelp
Food and service were 10/10. Food came out super fast!!! I ordered the Spicy Cider Margarita. It was an interesting taste. I asked for more Tajín as I thought more spicy would make it taste better. It did. I ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts. They were one of my favorite things in the menu. They were crispy, not too soggy from the sauce but still drenched. The bacon flavor wasn't overpowering. I ordered the Meadow Run Lamb Farm Shank. Order this. It was so soft and juicy. The meat fell right off the bone. The sauce was a little sweet but paired perfectly with the lamb. The side potato dish was equally good. That was my favorite thing the entire night. I did add more black pepper but I love pepper.

Yelp
Excellent from food to service to ambiance! Had the Goat Cheese Whipped Ricotta as a starter. It was to die for. Then had the Beet & Arugula salad and the Filet with blue cheese butter and a side of mashed potatoes...all cooked to perfection. The space is absolutely GORGEOUS! Cant wait to go again!

Yelp
This local mom has been anxiously awaiting this gorgeous spot to open. Knowing they WILL improve (), some noticeable ups and downs: 1. Parking lot is overly complicated and tight. Be careful and arrive in your family's smallest car. 2. Interior dining and bar areas give "fox hunter country club" vibe which is on brand for Chester County and Randolph and Mortimer Duke :). Some rooms are brightly lit, others gloomy like a cigar bar? I'll be sitting outside at every chance I get, that space is wonderful. 3. Service was spectacular. Our waitress was bright, knowledgeable, and accommodating. 4. Drinks were ok. Tried two cocktails, nothing special but not outrageously priced. Lots of patrons and lively conversation at the bar- looks like it will do very well w/ local dads. 5. When the food came... yikes. 200$ just the food bill before tip, and we didn't get anything tasty - no ingenuity, sans any unique flavor, zero presentation, and the actual dish-wear looked auctioned from a defunct Cracker Barrel? My fam of four had the chicken, salmon, pasta, and a meal made of few apps. None I'd eat again. Fully support the locally sourced mission, every time, but maybe leave seafood dish w/ scallops the size of pencil erasers off the menu? Salmon was perfectly cooked, but my husband does as well w his air fryer. Rotisserie chicken, mushroom soup, and crab dip were all flavorless sadly. (Also, the breadbasket, which in our low-carb, gluten-free leaning world I thought was a thing of the past - didn't it used to come to the table FREE?? - listed as 10$? waitress said it's very popular?). The only thing served w flavor - and kudos to whoever partnered w them - BRILLIANT- was the Milky Way farm salted caramel ice cream scoop we had for dessert- and even IT came "presented" in a sad, tiny bowl like one that would carry your "side of lemon" if you asked for it w your water? Surely they are rushing to open and pay off the massive new construction bill, so TONS of hope the menu food will live up to its lofty prices someday. In the meantime, the feast is for your eyes on the new beautiful space! Sidle up to the bar and support a new local spot that cares about sustainable locally sourced foods. Give it a go and lmk if there is a food dish you'd recommend I try in the future!!

Yelp
Food is great, service is great, and I love the ambiance. Beautiful place. I have been there several times and will definitely go again

Yelp
went in on Saturday and sat at the bar. The fried pickles were overcooked, and I had a Caesar salad the lettuce was white not green, no croutons and the nubs of the lettuce were included. The time before I had the chicken salad Croissant and the croissant was overcooked and the chicken salad had to much curry and there was very little chicken on the sandwich. I have had some good meals there, I just do not like the inconstancy in the quality of the food. The bartenders were very nice.
google avatar

Andrew F.

Yelp
Very bad food. Service was ok. The ambiance is nice but it makes you think the food will be way better than what it is. Burger was overcooked, fries weren't flavorful. Squash soup was pretty bad. Sugared donut holes were bad.
google avatar

Yelp
Gosh! Like EVERYONE one says. FOOD is MEH !! Such a shame for a really beautiful restaurant! Expensive it is but wouldn't complain if food was good! Gosh! Fire the chef please!

Yelp
I honestly wish I could leave 3.5 stars. I went here tonight and the space is stunning. From the parking lot to every detail inside - it is just beautiful and the decor and seasonal touches are perfection. The staff is also fantastic. Very knowledgeable and willing to serve. The menu was beyond appetizing. It definitely has something on it for everyone. We had the mushroom soup, fried pickles, trout and beat and arugula salad. The presentation on each was great. But every single dish was just mediocre. The fried pickles were very overdone - the panko was almost black. The soup and salad were severely under seasoned. It took multiple salt and pepper additions to try to bring them up to enjoyable. And the trout was just ok, as were the veggies under. Again, just lack of flavor/seasoning. It was all super bland. If they would taste their food before serving it, this spot would be a go-to. It's beautiful and service was good. Sadly, none of the items we had was enough to bring us back.
google avatar

Yelp
My 4th time at White Dog-the food gets better and better. I *love* the Thai steak salad. You can ask for the steak to be cooked. The decor is calming and beautiful, a bar takes center stage and is subtly lit up and sparkly. We had Hernando this last time-give him a raise! He was meant to do this job (as long as he enjoys it.) He's humorous, attentive, he makes his job look effortless, which means he's working hard. Only tip I'd offer is please check when people order salad dressing on the side, it adds a lot of fat when the chefs forget! This place is a treat.

Yelp
Plenty of parking along with indoor and outdoor seeting. Service was good dowere the severed

Yelp
Mixed reviews on the new White Dog Cafe -Atmosphere 5/5 Enjoyed walking around the place and the staff encourages you to do so. Beautiful patio too. -Service 5/5 Waiters, Waitresses and Host have it hard enough... Now add the expectations of the restaurant. It was at the point of being over the top. -Food/Drinks 2/5 I know I'm not just paying for the food, but I expect it to be better. Very bland drinks and the pork belly somehow didn't have that much fat on it. $100.00 for lunch/bunch 2 Entrées, 2 Bloody Mary's, and 2 Coffees. With 25% tips.

Yelp
They just open. There for first brunch. What a diamond find in the middle of no where. Grounds and inside were beyond words. So nice. Perfect for any gathering. Our server nick was great for many reasons. Menu had many great options. Started with bread basket and then deviled eggs. I had curry chicken wrap. Prices were affordable. Make sure to try this place on your next trip to pa or do what we did make it part of our philly to lancaster day trip food stop.

Yelp
Food was okay. I don't see the hype. Probably because of the word "dog" in the name. If you're older than 40 you'll love this place

Ginny W.

Yelp
Food. Do not order trout. It was terrible. About the size of a deck of cards and dry. Their cooks should go to seasons 52 and order their trout. That's a piece of fish cooked correctly.

Yelp
What a lovely spot -- beautifully designed historic space ... delicious fresh food, wonderful service -- perfect treat after a day of hiking in the countryside!

Yelp
Food was very good. Drinks SUPER pricey, especially for weak wine selection. It is typically never too cold for me, but they had the AC cranked up so cold that it was even too much for me. Even staff agreed. Asked them to turn it down a bit but they either could not figure it out or ignored request. Overall nice new place. We'll try again in a few months.

Yelp
This is an absolutely beautiful restaurant with uniquely decorated rooms. We came for weekend brunch and although the restaurant was busy, each room was nicely isolated from surrounding rooms to help curb the noise levels. The service was good overall, but I think there needs to be more consistency in communication. Our hostess who seated us said they ran out of kids menus and the server would be able to tell us verbally what was available for kids, but there were no kids meals offered for brunch, after all. Also, when inquiring about certain ingredients in the deviled egg seasonal fillings, our server said they don't really know what's in them, which is a bit confusing. Started with the bread basket (cornbread) which was delicious. However, there were some misses with our entrees. My husband and I both got the Nashville Hot Chicken and French toast but my husband's French toast was undercooked and unfortunately has left him feeling a bit unwell now. For our kids, there weren't many options but decided to go with the yogurt parfait which had some nice fresh fruit on the side but the yogurt, granola and honey had a bit of watery texture. The blueberry cobbler French toast looked good but was incredibly too sweet to eat more than a few bites. A few last thoughts that might be helpful to people. The parking lot is very small and crowded and it didn't seem like there were enough spots to accommodate a fully packed restaurant. The restrooms are unisex and having a urinal literally inches away facing opposite of the toilet was probably not the best decision for women and kids, especially since it triggers the urinal to flush with a sensor and it was very startling. They also charge a 3% credit card service fee, which was unexpected in a higher end establishment like this one.

Yelp
We have been waiting for this location to open up and boy are we happy it did! Came here for happy hour without a reservation around 4:20. Bar was full and we were going to wait for the next bar to open but they opened it early for us! We were promptly seated in a cozy part of the bar. It wasn't too loud and we were served promptly. Honey mule was very good! Eggplant lasagna was huge and cooked to perfection. Looks like this will be our new happy hour spot!

Yelp
This restaurant chain doesn't disappoint, and this location recently opened. Reservations are important here. The food is varied and well prepared. The wait staff is skillful. We had preschoolers in our party and they were well provided for. In my opinion, it's too pricey to be more than an occasional treat. YMMV.

Yelp
We have visited all of the White Dog locations and the new Chester Springs location is by far the best and largest space. The front bar is small but still warm. The other bar is a larger island in the rear dining hall. They did an amazing job with the space. My wife and I shared the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, the White Dog 'Double Cheddar' Burger, Truffle Parmesan Fries. Everything was amazing. They are going to do great here, and only ten minutes away from home. Keep up the amazing work!

Yelp
Food is OK, kinda meh - mushroom soup bland, crab dip small and tasteless. Best thing was mocktails and truffle fries! Service was slow, maybe because they opened recently. Sat inside, but plagued with flies! Doors open to patio area - shoulda left the flies outside! They are a plague! Landed in food, in drinks. If we wanted flies we'd have eaten OUTSIDE! Won't go back until this is sorted and fixed! A shame that this gorgeously renovated space stints on food, service and pesky flies dominate indoors.

Yelp
Had brunch with six, and two had regular eggs, two had Benedict's, two had omelettes - all loved everything. Only miscue we made was ordering two sides of sausages our fault - but they went home with us . And since I was treating to say thank you to my friends I was very happy with the cost, everything including two drinks for four of us was $40 each, including tip, We also had the nicest waitress - she was so sweet and made the day so nice from the very first moment - great day for us!

Yelp
I've been to I think 4 white dogs and I think this one is the best. The service was exceptional. We had the hummus and tomato toast for start. The tomato toast was something I'll be thinking about for a while. I think what was so nice was their ability to accommodate, we had one vegetarian and one vegan. They worked with us and made suggestions to ensure we had a good meal. The steak lomein salad was so good! Definitely will be back.

Yelp
This will hopefully be a review with a positive follow up in a couple weeks after they work out their kinks. We have been looking forward to this location opening for literally years, so our anticipation was high. I agree with others that the parking lot is a shit show, but that will probably not change so proceed with caution, follow the arrows and don't take your oversized 3 row Expedition. The building is beautiful and cozy. Walked in to 3 or 4 lovely hostesses, all smiles and they gave direction to both open bars. I chose 2 seats in the smaller bar to catch up with a girlfriend. Was 'greeted' by a bartender with solid RBF, never cracked a smile, flat personality and threw a Happy Hour menu on the bar that ended in 10 minutes. Was never offered the cocktail menu/wine list or main food menu...I eventually asked the couple sitting next to me if I could glance at theirs once they were done. I ordered a Stoli O Cosmopolitan specifically saying not too pink and not too sweet which was completely ignored. Then ordered a dirty Belvedere martini for my friend with olives and there was no olive juice in the martini. We sat there chatting, never approached about wanting a water or food menus. Finally got her attention and we ordered the truffle fries. They are a pairing to the Steak Frites on the menu ($55!!!) which is one of my fav meals to get when we go out so I wanted to just check them out. We were given a stack of bathroom-like paper towels with our fries instead of linen roll ups like everyone else around us...I was appalled! I understand there is a cost factor with that but paper towels?? Invest in some larger paper napkins for those just ordering a nibble. The fries were Incredibly inconsistently cooked - some were overcooked/crunchy while others were limp...the paired spicy aioli was nice. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc after sitting with an empty glass for maybe 5 mins, I agree the wine list by the glass is very small and lackluster. After my friend's martini glass sat empty for over 10 minutes we decided to leave to eat elsewhere. Obviously it's a new restaurant and they are working on things, but I cannot overlook bad bartenders with zero personality. We are bar people, my husband and I prefer to sit at the bar when we go out, we make reservations for Kimberton Inn's bar regularly and have never had a bad meal or experience. I could overlook a lot if I'm getting a higher energy, polite, informative person on the other side with some banter. They need to be trained to make eye contact, greet even if busy with a 'welcome! I'll be right with you'. Maybe she was having an off day but it's just no excuse, there was a male bartender as well but he never engaged with us until I asked for the bill. I did mention to one of the hostesses on the way out how bad of an experience it was and she was sweet and asked me to tell her about it, I wanted to say something in the moment on top of written feedback. Will give this some time and take my husband back in a few weeks. Fingers crossed it's better, we're so under-restauranted but we may be sticking with our solid regular go-to's

Yelp
My wife and I frequent both Rosalie and the White Dog often as we live in Wayne. We are at the White Dog almost weekly and Rosalie is a usual date night spot. So it is no surprise we believe the restaurant group that runs these places does quite a good job. So this past weekend as it was a beautiful day we decided to take a drive out to the Chester Springs White Dog to check it out. The space is beautifully done up and the outside seating is much larger and very pleasant. Larger and nicer than the White Dog in Wayne. We ordered brunch and the food was quite good, up to the standard. Although the Eggs Benedict hollandaise was a little "off". Not in rancid way, but in a left waiting for someone to serve the dish kind of way. Hard to describe. Still enjoyable though. We ordered Bloody Mary's to start and it seems these were a victim of shrink-flation. Served in a tall glass but really quite narrow. So not much to them. But most importantly I'm sorry to say the service was terrible. Our waiter started off ok but then how hard is it to take an order? After that I think he might have gone home or decided to watch a football game in the bar. I can only guess this might have been the case as the entire time he never came back to see how things were nor if we wanted another Bloody Mary, water, or anything for that matter. Our dirty dishes sat there way too long. Actually until we paid our check. The place wasn't all that busy and there seemed to be plenty of help so I don't think his workload was overbearing. He just flat out didn't come back. This pretty much put a damper on things and we decided to just get our check and leave. This too became a search and rescue mission. What a shame. A nice experience kind of ruined. I'd give it another try if we happen to be out that way but as the place is not convenient to where we live it is unlikely that we will get back. But we will continue with our local WD and Rosalie.

Yelp
I've tried the new White Dog on several occasions in the hopes its food and service would reach, what I've come to consider, White Dog standards. Disappointed yet again with the kitchens inability to put out a quality meal in a reasonable amount of time. [But I will say, I did have a lovely brunch there about two weeks ago.] In summary: Lovely setting; friendly wait staff; nice bar; slow kitchen; and very average food (bordering on bland). Greatly overpriced based on the quality of the food.

Yelp
Food was very good. A bit pricey but good quality food. Ambiance was awesome. They did such a nice job on the remodel. The service was below avg. She was a fast talk and not a great listener. We got there b4 the lunch crowd and only about 4 tables in the whole building yet it took our service 5 minutes just to come see us and give us some water. But worse was when she asked me if I'd like more ice tea when she brought our food, I said yes and never came back. I asked another service if she could please send our server out, when she came out, she had my ice tea but no apology even though she saw we had eaten our whole meal without ever coming back. If the service improves, this will be my new go to place.
