Where to Eat Queso in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Head to downtown’s 6th and Peabody and find Ole Smoky moonshine tastings, beer, a truck serving Prince’s hot chicken, and a good bowl of white queso (featuring queso fresco) and tacos at Nashville’s outpost of Asheville-based White Duck Taco Shop." - Delia Jo Ramsey

There are lots of taco options out there but if you’re looking for unique flavors White Duck is the place to go. The tacos have a Korean fusion happening and it works. The fish and shrimp tacos are great but if you’re looking for something special go with one of the pork belly tacos. They are exceptional.

Google
We got: elote (cold and off the cob), fish tacos, pork belly taco, Bangkok shrimp, steak tacos. The steak tacos and fish tacos were definitely the best. The pork belly itself was good but there wasn’t much else in the taco. The Bangkok shrimp was extremely salty in my opinion. Was not a fan of the elote.

Google
The best people, service and food! I can't say enough about how great the tacos are. They all are amazing! My favorite one might just be the steak and cheese.

Google
Excellent tacos Great beer selection Bar games like cornhole Large open seating area Update 8.29.25 Pork belly tacos are incredible. Monster slice of pork belly, great flavor, must order. Don’t forget to do a tasting at the ole Smokey bar :)

Google
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! The staff was super nice , food was INCREDIBLE queso was my favorite! A security officer & staff at the ole Smokey distillery both offered our dog water as well as brought him a bowl!! Restores my faith in humanity, can’t say enough good about this place!

Google
Convenient location next to Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery. My tacos were savory and packed with all the fixings. My entrée consisted of Korean Beef Bulgogi, General Tso Chicken (favorite), and Thai Peanut Chicken. Large seating area under shade or open air. For the prices I paid, I was pleased with the portions. 9.8/10

Google
The following are the tacos we ordered: Carnitas, Pork belly, Bangkok shrimp and Thai peanut chicken. They were all excellent. Pork belly was juicy and tender and carnitas was amazing too. I love this location because you can order your food and then go relax outside and they bring it out to you. I will definitely return next time I'm in Nashville.

Google
What a place! Old abandoned firehouse with ample seating and screens for entertainment meets live stage meets country shop meets taco stand meets pub - something for everyone! Our family with small children were welcomed and we easily found seating at 7pm on a Thursday night. Prices were reasonable, food was fresh and delicious! My 9-year old says: the food is fast, it was easy to walk to (from central Nashville); I loved it! Pork belly taco with pickled watermelon is highly recommended. 👌

Yelp
Just read the "racist and rude" by a disgruntled Asian. American Asian here, sup y'all. Staff was friendly and super helpful. Great service! Super welcoming.

Yelp
Great taco selections and I've never seen such a wide variety of taco styles of these flavors before. You seat yourself anywhere in the distillery, great ambiance (mix between sports bar and distillery). Sizzlin Strawberry Margarita: The sizzlin part is that there is a good pour of alcohol in the drink and it actually tastes like Strawberry. You'll taste more of the strawberry than the alcohol but boy that alcohol will get you buzzed. YeeHaw Drafts (Mango): The drafts are what's available on tap. The mango beer was light beer and you'll be able to taste a light hint of mango. There is a light fizz to the beer not heavy on carbonation. Steak, cheese, lettuce, pico and mexican crema: Pretty much straight to the point if you want a taco closest a carne asada. Pork Belly, green onion aloli, and pickled watermelon rind: The pork belly will be intact, it's not sliced. So you'll get a huge slice of meat paired with watermelon rind. Would recommend getting this if you're a meat lover. Bangkok Shrimp: Cucumber, chili aoli, sesame galzed fried shrimp. Tasted heavenly, lightly battered, plenty of shrimp and the sauce was paired well with each other. Highly recommend getting this for seafood lovers. Shrimp diablo: Grilled shrimp in spicy diablo sauce, lettuce, escabeche, and goat cheese. Sauce is actually slightly spicy if you're a spice lover. Spice won't build up but it has a good flavor paired with the grilled shrimp. Goat cheese was not overwhelming but was sprinkled a perfect amount for flavor.

Yelp
Delicious! I can't wait to go back. I love that there were so many vegetarian options and a good amount of spice.

Yelp
To start, this place is a tourist trap, so it's going to busy at regular meal times when the weather is nice. I wandered into the Yee Haw Brewing Co. with a group of colleagues while attending a conference, and we all ate and the White Duck. They had some interesting offerings, but unfortunately they were out of several when we got there. I had a buffalo chicken and a pork taco. They were not bad, but the tortillas kind of fell apart and I had to finish with plasticware. Nothing fancy, but still pretty good. if you want a quick and flavorful lunch, this place has it. It is open seating in the venue, so we had a little trouble finding a place to eat together...we worked it out in the end.

Yelp
Located within Ole Smoky Distillery. We stopped in as a family of 5 to eat dinner. Super friendly service, food came out quickly and everything was delicious! Reasonably priced & would absolutely go back !

Yelp
THESE ARE THE BEST TACOS, from the West Coast to the Midwest, what a hidden gem! Nestled inside the Ole'. We came specifically to try the duck taco which then included the steak and cheese, pork belly and the chips and queso. Holy heaven blessed us with the savory deliciousness. Like true chunky butts, we came back for an evening round with more people to try the shrimp, Korean beef, fish and more duck (the pork belly was sold out) and Mexican street corn. Dear baby Jesus, thank you. The service was amazing, everyone was so friendly and we purchased their T-Shirts to remind us of the goodness we won't be having until we can return again. Make the trek and go try for yourself!
google avatar

Yelp
The two tacos I did try were great. It was a bummer the ones I really wanted to try were sold out. Do, maybe come early. The menu online doesn't match the current menu either. A few surprises. The counter service was quick and easy. All of my questions were answered. We sat outside and watched people play Corn Hole. Would try again.

Yelp
A great afternoon place to have few drinks and eat awesome tacos. We were a little did appointed that on a Sunday they were out of Korean Beef Bulgogi. We were anxious to try it but we pivoted. I got the Bangkok shrimp & mole roasted duck. The Bangkok shrimp had great flavor with a little spice kick. In contrast the duck was good but it felt like a winter duck diner. Both good but depends on your mood. A great atmosphere to hangout for the day & have great food. A repeat when we visit the area again.

Yelp
Huge selection of different kinds of tacos, but they were out of a few choices, so that kind of sucks. Order and pay at the counter and they will bring the food out to you. $5 for a taco isn't too bad. They were a decent size and were pretty good.
google avatar

James F.

Yelp
Go order your food and have a seat in a cafeteria style setting. I read their more "out-there" tacos were a bit hit-or-miss so I played it safe and got the steak and cheese and fried chicken tacos. We also had an order or chips and queso. Everything was excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful. The space is shared with ole smoky moonshine so go have a drink after, or vice-versa. It's extremely casual so go for lunch. Prices are a bit on the high side at $5 per taco but they're standard size and fully loaded. I was fully expecting those tiny street tacos but that was not the case.

Yelp
I've been to White Duck taco shop in Asheville. It was amazing, I love tacos but hate cilantro ( tastes like soap - unfortunate genetic issue ! And they were happy to make me the best tacos ever without cilantro ! Run !
google avatar

Yelp
RACIST AND RUDE STAFFS. We are Asian-Americans and we were treated differently. We ordered couple items and my husband asked for a tray to carry over to our table. The lady asked why do you need a tray? Ok? We have only two hands and not able to carry all food? Meanwhile, she is offering food tray to the white people even with less food than us. Discrimination? Yay totally. Nashville is a fun city to visit but being a minority is bad

Yelp
What a fun, all-encompassing trip to Ole Smoky Distillery! You can do a moonshine tasting, shop for merch, enjoy a few whiskey cocktails, and grab food at White Duck Taco Shop. My friend and I sat in front of the bright and adorable duck mural, staring at all the taco options on the menu. We decided to grab food and begin the absorption of alcohol. For myself, I ordered the Pork Belly and Bangkok Shrimp tacos. They were disappointing in terms of flavor. Thinking back on that meal, my mouth recalls the taste of oil it was cooked in. Couldn't even finish the entire thing. My friend thought they were okay too. I definitely eyed what I thought were the most unique tacos on the menu, but maybe I should have stuck with classics.
google avatar

Yelp
So many great tacos!! The prices were great! Average price was $5 a taco. The service was fast, employees were full of personality. You can sit inside or out and the facility. It is multiple business in one. Listen to live music or watch a football game on the big screen.

Yelp
I discovered (and fell in love with) White Duck Taco when they opened in Greenville, so I was thrilled to learn they exist here, too! They seem to be fans of the community-style spaces, so this location is located inside of a YeeHaw bar and Old Smokey shop. The space is big, but the music is always blasting, so even though there's plenty of indoor seating, my preference is outside. There's a stage with a giant tv for football, a cornhole area on some turf, plus the brewery building and another food place (hot dogs, but I've never seen it open). It's cute. You order and they give you a number, but I don't think they bring it out to you, so you hang out and wait for them to call your number at the counter. Their menu is pretty straightforward, and all their tacos are great!!! I like the General Tso, Thai Peanut, & Tikka Masala chicken ones, the Korean Bulgogi Bwef (comes with so much meat!), and the duck one was okay (the duck flavoring is incredible, I just don't personally care for how it goes with the other ingredients). But, the one you HAVE to get is the Pork Belly taco. It melts in your mouth and the ends are slightly charred with flavor and....yeah, it's the best.

Yelp
Best tacos I've ever had & I'm from Nashville so I've had so. many. tacos. Excellent option for my gluten free folks as well! Highly recommend the grilled fish taco and the crispy pork belly. Insane.

Yelp
The Pork Belly Taco is truly one of the best foods ever made! So so good! Sort of reminds me of the Garage Food Hall in Indy

Yelp
Oh my. I read a bunch of reviews that ranged from food of the gods, to shit in the cellar! But being less than a block from my hotel I had nothing to lose, except a few bucks. I have no idea where the one star reviews got there food, but tacos I got were AWESOME! The ambience was typical Nashville tourist/local cool vibe, but considering there location understandable, Now let's talk tacos! They are big, so grab a fork you will need it, I had two and they filled me up. Great flavor, meat was well cooked, and both tacos (pork belly taco, and gyro taco) were super tasty. It's not a date place, and it's loud. But if your hungry it's worth the trip.

Yelp
Delicious food, unfortunately super unorganized with people having to have their order number waiting up front vs dropping off the food to the guest at there table with 4 employees working. I placed a order Togo and ended taking 10 mins with no one in line because they forgot the order. The best taco on the menu is the pork belly
google avatar

Mark K.

Yelp
Great fish tacos and the quesadillas are crispy and awesome. Second time here and both times were consistent. Try the west coast IPA if you want to have a completely nice west coast experience. bartenders are super accommodating and nice. Step into the shine tasting room if you're looking to kick-off the night with some libations.

Yelp
Located inside the Old Smokey Distillery/Yee-Haw brewery spot in Downtown, this is one of two places to eat inside this compound. The other being Prince's Hot Chicken. Frankly, I suggest the going to Prince's first, if the line is too long, White Duck Taco will fulfill the need of keeping hunger at bay, but won't satisfy you. Coming from Southern California, it's hard not to compare most tacos to the Golden State mainstays, but these tacos were bland and passionless. I tried the Bangkok shrimp and the duck mole tacos. The mole tacos, were not even close to mole. The duck meat was tender, but cranberry sauce, cranberry chunks with lettuce is not mole. It was like a leftover Thanksgiving Taco with a soggy tortilla. The shrimp taco was ok and surprisingly the shrimp was great, but I could have done without the everything else. Just put these shrimp, over fries with some nacho cheese, and guacamole. Kaboom, ten times better. This compound is a decent spot to hang, but maybe get food before, then come here to party.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem at the Ole Smoky and Yee-Haw complex. The menu structurally is fairly straightforward, but the rotating selection of tacos is anything but. I ordered the buffalo chicken and black bean and cheese tacos. The buffalo chicken taco consisted of one giant chicken tender lightly coated in buffalo sauce. And by giant, I mean GIANT. It was quite possibly one of the biggest chicken tenders I've ever seen. Therefore, eating it like a taco was next to impossible. Thankfully, the chicken on its own was delicious. Once it was small enough to wrap the corn tortilla around, I was able to finish eating it the way a taco is meant to be eaten. The blue cheese sauce made for the classic complement to the (not too hot) buffalo sauce. The double corn tortilla made it a fairly durable taco. The black bean and cheese taco was good but mostly forgettable. The black bean filling was more paste-like, and the cheese wasn't very noticeable. Here, the double corn tortilla was a little overwhelming and unnecessary. The side of roasted tomato salsa added some much-needed flavor. Overall, the tacos were larger and more filling than expected. There were several other varieties on the menu that were very enticing, so I look forward to going back to try some of those.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I ate here before a show at Third Man Blue Room. I just happened to find it on here and hoped it wasn't a sh*t show once we arrived. Little did I know it was an entire complex. The reviews here had me wondering if it was going to be a mistake but I promise, we were blown away! My partner had a fish taco and a chicken taco, I believe. I had the duck mole, spicy sauteed shrimp and pastor, I think. I have photos but will have to go back. Holy cow! These things were so dang good! The food came out fast as well and at $5 a taco, it didn't break the bank. My only gripe is that the ladies working out front appeared to want to be anywhere but here. 10/10 on attitude and 1/10 on service. That said, I'd come back in a heartbeat. The food is too good to pass up and bad employees typically work their way out.

Yelp
This was recommended to me by some friends who had just come here the day before. They said that the pork belly and the duck tacos were so good and must-tries so I decided to go to the distillery for a tasting then ate dinner here. The pork belly taco ($4.25) was pretty good and the pork belly was gigantic on the top. There were only a few toppings on the taco but the simplicity allowed me to taste the pork belly and the sauce. The mole roasted duck taco ($6.25) on the other hand was full of toppings that just didn't seem to work together. There was so much going on and the flavors were just off to me, and for the price it was definitely not worth it. There are some food trucks in that same plaza that I'd recommend you go to first before going here. It's just not good and what tacos are supposed to be.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to the White Duck Taco Shop when visiting Ole Smoky Brewery. We ordered 2 tacos to share: a BBQ carnitas taco and a Ceviche taco with shrimp. We also ordered a side of chips and queso to share. We got a number and went and sat down outside, and it didn't take long at all for us to get our food. Kind staff and Great service! Both of our tacos tasted good. A very cool taco shop inside of a brewery, which I hadn't ever seen done before. A definite must stop, if you're ever in downtown Nashville, Tennessee visiting the Ole Smoky Brewery!
google avatar

Yelp
Updating my review on this place... My husband and I have always loved the Asheville shops, but this location is not the vibe we are looking for. Unfortunately, most of the tables have people just hanging out without food and we had to share a table with another couple just so we could sit and eat. The parking options changed prices since we visited a month ago. We originally paid $5 for parking and this time we couldn't find anything cheaper than $9 for 1-2 hours. The tacos were just okay and quite pricey. We will probably eat at one of our other favorite taco places in the area that has more of a restaurant feel since this place had more bachelorette parties than you could count.

Yelp
Best tacos in Nashville. Hands down. Environment and drinks were amazing. Service was good too!!

Samuel S.

Yelp
Fun spot where you can eat outside and bring your dog. The taco shop is connected to brewery. Tacos are excellent and good vibe for hanging out.

Yelp
After a little moonshine and beer tasting this little corner was the best choice ever!! I tried 4 tacos...the Bangkok shrimp, steak, black bean & cheese, and the pork carnitas. They were all delicious. A fabulous street taco- 2 corn shells and all. I wanted to try the fish taco too and forgot to order it. I will order it next time for sure as someone in my party did and said they were the best she ever had. Their queso was delicious. A great blend of smoothly cheesy goodness!!! We will definitely be back on our next visit to Nashville.

Yelp
Nice treat! Looking for a food truck and found so much more! Indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly service and great food!

Yelp
Located with the old Smokey distillery has a large dining area with a big screen TV for sports viewing. Self seat, order at the bar type place. Tacos are ok... Queso was ok, chips were stale. Bangkok shrimp - small fried shrimp, good flavor, good portion of shrimp inside, would order again. Korean beef was ground beef and seemed kind of meatloafy for lack of a better term, wasn't great. Had a bbq pork taco that was ok... They're probably better when you're drunk, but at $5 a taco I wasn't super impressed. Might try the hotdog place next time. If you're just coming for a drink and to watch the game it's perfect, just don't expect much from the food.
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
Tons of options that come in 6" street tacos. Service was very good. I ordered the Bangkok shrimp, which I didn't love. It had a slight curry taste with pickles. It was quirky for my taste, but the shrimp was very good. I also ordered the pork belly. The actual pork belly had a crispy outside and soft inside, which was delightful. The overall taco wasn't noteworthy, but it was better than the shrimp. In the end, the options that I chose were good, and I would try other flavors next time.
google avatar

Juanne D.

Yelp
UPDATE: Brought my sister here. They lost a star because the pork belly taco didn't come with pickled vegetables when we ordered it like it is supposed to!

Yelp
If you love tacos... THIS IS WHERE HAPPINESS RESIDES! I visited Nashville for a safe graduation celebration this past weekend. This taco shop was not in our plans but the Moonshine Distillery that it is located in was. (I'll also be doing a review on the distillery) Because this establishment is located WITHIN an establishment it's perfect for the vibes that surround it! Music, laughter, shopping, and most importantly alcohol. The young staff here were so kind and very quick with our orders. They were knowledgeable about the menu so any question we asked they were on top of it with a helpful polite reply. And if you've ever read my reviews you know kindness and respect is a big mark for me. They nailed it. Let's get into these tacos! I was in a group of 6 women 5 of us ordered 3 tacos each and all 5 of us were more than satisfied with our decisions. Not only were the tacos unique but they had vegetarian options! This was major because within our group was a vegetarian so that really excited her! They replace any meat selection with jackfruit and it is seasoned and sauced as if it were the original version! How awesome is that? My friend definitely said it was an amazing group of tacos! I myself had the Lamb Gyro taco, the Bangkok Shrimp taco, and the Pork Belly taco. I have to say all three were mind blowing but the pork belly was definitely my favorite! It was the pickled watermelon rind for me! All the different flavors, the proper cooking of the meats, the fresh toppings were all perfect and it was not just the margarita talking those tacos took my breath away! If you are in the Nashville area please stop by this little hidden gem I promise you will not be disappointed! 10/10 would recommend!
google avatar

Meryl J.

Yelp
I was so disappointed by these tacos! I think I've learned just to avoid tacos in Nashville...come visit us in Texas for some great options! We visited White Duck Taco shop because it was recommended in some travel blog. The tacos are very over priced. I tried the chicken tikka taco. It was gross. I'm not sure how it could be so bland and the chicken was so dry. The tortilla was not even good. Please try Velvet Taco's chicken tikka taco instead!

Yelp
I didn't "check in" because I honestly didn't know this was a separate entity from the brewery and distillery until I got home. We were in the neighberhood the first Saturday after a snowstorm and mid-day most places were still closed in this area despite being sunny and mostly melted by then. We decided to have a drink and check out the food, as based on the Yee-haw/Ole Smoky reviews they served food. Anyway, long story short--grabbed a few tacos as well as an order of chips and queso. 3 tacos, 1 chip + queso + 1 beer + 1 fountain drink, approx. $35 I had the pork belly taco and the chicken clucker. The pork belly taco was terrific...a whole slab of crispy pork belly. Very fair for the price despite being sparsely topped. The clucker was...okay. Mostly crispy but not that juicy, the toppings nothing to write home about, and the taco was cold midway through the meal but nothing I'd really complain about. My wife had the baja shrimp taco. A very small scoop of shrimp, two pickles, a drizzle of sauce. She said the shrimp was tasty and the sauce was very good, and while she doesn't mind "basic" toppings, she thought most people would find the lack of anything other than a couple of pickles to be a letdown. She felt that for the price, she should have gotten 2 tacos given the smallish amount of shrimp. Yee-Haw beer available at the taco spot just like at any register in the facility, $7 a pour. All in all, decent food at a slightly inflated price. All tacos are $4.95---that was a steal for the pork belly, about a buck too much for the clucker, and about 2 bucks too much for the shrimp.

Yelp
Fantastic tacos located inside of Yee Haw. Huge amount of toppings and great flavor. Not as perfect as the Asheville NC store but still great. Recommend this gem.
google avatar

Laura T.

Yelp
Great tacos! The pork belly is a must try! And they give free soda fountain drinks. Cool atmosphere with large screen TVs and one huge one. This would be an amazing place to watch the super bowl!
google avatar

Abigail W.

Yelp
Tucked in Ole Smokey this little taco shop is exactly what you were missing. Fun, unique taco combinations and they are cheap enough that you can mix and match though the night. The tacos came out surprisingly fast for how busy they seemed to be. I only wish I could have brought them back to Denver with me.
google avatar

Skyler I.

Yelp
One star because they closed at exactly 8:40pm on a Friday night without giving any good reason??? Everything listed says they're open until 10 and if you're not that's okay but what kind of arbitrary time is 8:40???
google avatar

Josh G.

Yelp
Tucked inside of Ole Smoky Distillery/Yee-Haw brewery is the White Duck Taco Shop. This is a great option to pair your beer or cocktail during any time of the day. You order the counter and they give you a number and bring your food to you. There's a wide variety of options to choose from. We ordered queso and chips and I ordered three tacos, which were much larger than I was expecting. I had the Korean Beef Bulgogi, Duck with Mole, and the Lamb Gyro. Needless to say, they were all vastly different. All were excellent with potent flavors and came out fresh. The queso was also an excellent choice. The tacos paired well with the double IPA I ordered from Yee Haw. I was very happy with everything at White Duck Taco Shop and will definitely order more tacos the next time I visit Ole Smoky/Yee-Haw. Check this place out and get some tacos when visiting this distillery/brewery combo.
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
Unfriendly rude staff at a shop that was out of 1/2 of their menu items was able to continue this theme by preparing tacos that were sad and tasteless and lousy. The Mexican street corn was frozen corn sprinkled with chili powder which took zero effort to prepare.
google avatar

Dylan B.

Yelp
This place is right inside of Ole Smoky Distillery and is awesome. They have a wide selection of very unique tacos from shrimp, to lamb. The two tacos I got were the steak and cheese with the buffalo chicken taco. The steak and cheese was my favorite with perfectly seasoned steak and fresh veggies to pack a punch of flavor explosion. The atmosphere is what makes this place 5 stars. It's a huge open indoor and outdoor seating with a large screen for football.
google avatar

Abby K.

Yelp
I was so excited to see this come to Nashville, as I love their location in Asheville- Riverside. However, I walked over here from work and was sadly disappointed. Their menu is a lot smaller, their chips were very stale, they didn't have the awesome cheerwine the other location has, and their Bangkok shrimp taco outright sucked. The gyro taco was good and the queso itself was good. I'm hoping it's just because it's new and they improve. I'd probably come by in the future to give it one more chance, but don't expect Asheville quality.
google avatar

Dean H.

Yelp
All good. Nice vibe and decent food. Personally the taco thing is getting old but the venue and beer are worth it.
google avatar

Melissa W.

Yelp
Pork Belly is THE BEST TACO I'VE EVER HAD, and I'm from California. Chill environment Tacos pair perfect with Yee-Haw beer.

Kimberly W.

Yelp
Great tacos and friendly staff. Got the Thai chicken taco and the southern corn chowder soup. Both had a great level of spice (heat) and delish flavors! I'd return!
google avatar

Caroline G.

Yelp
Not to be dramatic, but the pork belly taco was so good that it brought tears to my fiancé's eyes. I have never seen food make him cry before. Fish taco was also great but please please please try the pork belly taco

Yelp
We went in to the Yee-haw brewing company for a beer the first night we came into town and grabbed a few tacos at the White Duck Taco Shop. The steak tacos were so good and the Buffalo chicken had just enough spice. We grabbed a few tacos all 3 night in town. The only disappointing were the fish tacos. Not much flavor to those. But overall, I'd recommend them.
