All I can say is after being a loyal customer for many years I am officially done. When I wait 19 minutes for 1 dinner with 3 dinner orders before me, I loved watching the fry cook continually put raw food in the fryers, wipe his bare hands on his dirty jeans, grab the cooked food with the same ungloved hands, place it in the boxes, fold up said boxes and hand it to me. I’m out! If you enjoy cross contamination, this is the place for you!

This place is the most underrated Chicken spot.Chicken Is absolutely delish falls off the bone tender and crispy.The Mac and cheese combined with mash potatoes is a great combo.and fritters for desert.Great place definitely recommend.Will not be disappointed

We went to White Fence Farm on Mother’s Day to pick up a simple 8-piece meal after a long day with family. When we arrived, someone was already getting a refund – that should have been a red flag. It took a few minutes before we could even place our order, only to be told they were out of fritters and shrimp. Okay, fine. We sat in a crowded waiting room while they called order 34. We were 49. The kitchen was moving painfully slow, and the fryers were smoking up the whole area. After 30 minutes of waiting, they announced they were out of fries. That was it for us – we canceled our order and joined the line of other people getting refunds. They were only at order 38, and people in the waiting room said they’d been there for nearly an hour. It felt like being stuck at an airport. I genuinely love the food here, and the staff are usually friendly, but the wait times and lack of preparation are unacceptable. It’s frustrating that management didn’t plan ahead for a busy day like Mother’s Day. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve waited far too long for chicken. Great food, but not worth the chaos.

White Fence Farm, North Riverside is a carry out venue, even when there's no pandemic. The fried chicken and hush puppies are excellent. The sides are very retro, but great...the beet salad is great. But the best kept secret is the fried seafood, homemade tartar and cocktail sauces. The shrimp is crunchy and juicy. The fish fillets are a solid cod or whitefish...large pieces with flaky, juicy flesh served with lemon slices. We have reduced our chicken order to get the fish dinners. The great thing is you can order just chicken, shrimp and fish. Great food, great prices, fast service. Enjoy!

I stopped in for a couple sides. I’ve always loved their chicken (kind of bland now) and fritters are best thing on menu.But I ordered cole slaw and Mac n cheese. The Cole slaw was so bland. It’s was like shaved purple cabbage with watered down Mayo. 😞The Mac and cheese needed salt, pepper. Very bland. Never had a cheese sauce salt free.😞 Avoid those sides if you can.

I forgot to take pics. Anyways haven't been here in awhile. I remember the food here being amazing. So corn fritters were a car ride home delight and very delicious. Fries were average. Mashed potatoes were a little dry and the gravy looks kind of funky, but actually tasted pretty good. The chicken was slightly dry, and the breading isn't as good as it used to be. I feel like they need to change the grease in the fryer or something. There are plenty of other better chicken places so unfortunately this is why I haven't been there in a while probably. The service was very good and quick. The inside was just as I remembered small clean with old-school pictures.

I've had fried chicken from Pass Christen, Mississippi to Los Feliz, California, from Niagara Falls, New York to Las Vegas, Nevada ; I've never met a fried chicken I didn't like (barring KFC or Churches). That being said, some friends of ours here in Chicago bet they could take me to Joliet, Illinois (some 30 miles outside of Chicago) and share with me the best fried chicken I've ever had. This sounded like a pretty heady challenge, so I could not refuse. Enter White Fence Farm here in Jolliet, IL. I'm going to call this place a restaurant / museum: A restaurant #1, as (yes it did) have the best fried chicken I've ever had - hands down #2, a museum as this place had old cars, old appliances, old tchotchke's and decorative souvenirs and nicknacks from the 1920's, 30's, 40's to the present - it was crazy! I've never seen anything like this ever. I was in awe!!!!! But, yes, you come here for fried chicken. There are a few other choices on their menu, but no, you come here for the chicken. They automatically include 5 or 6 side dishes like coleslaw, marinated beets, cottage cheese, potatoes and a kidney bean salad; and here's the rub - you can never run out of any of these side dishes. They keep on replenishing them. And they were all insanely good???? But, back to the chicken - it was light as a feather, juicy as hell and absolutely delicious. All of my above locations sited in this review had delicious fried chicken couldn't hold a candle to White Fence Farms, chicken. Not only was our dinner fantastic, but the walk-around this crazy museum was like a walk down memory lane. I don't think I enjoyed any meal this much since I moved to Chicago three years ago - PERIOD!

I've been to the big white fence farm in Romeville and this little one here on riverside. They both have great tasting chicken. This location is perfect for picking up chicken and going on a picnic or takeout. This location is very small compared to romeville but the food is still great. White fence farm has been a family staple for chicken. It has never disappointed so far. i need to next try a catering order Next and will let everyone know.

This used to be a great place to eat. It would be so busy you had an hour wait on the weekends. We visited on 05/26/2024. There were barely anyone in the restaurant. We were a table of 8 people. The Roasted Chicken was Cold and very very dry. The fried chicken was tiny pieces not like what they used to serve. The relish plates are still the same, but didn't taste the same. Cottage Cheese was room temperature, the beets where ok, the corn fritters where also cold. The coleslaw was like pure vinegar The pricing has gone through the roof 8 people was $250.00 plus tip. Oh and they charge a service fee if you're paying with credit card. Now our server did is best and kept our drinks full at all the time. He was friendly and very pleasant. Most likely will never return. Sorry, two thumbs down.

I know what I saw and so do the other guests that were waiting! Even the woman I spoke to on the phone when I called because your employees forgot the cocktail sauce, knew it was wrong and said she would talk to the manager about it. Oh, and thanks for the stomach cramps all night. That was a nice surprise.

The steak was bland and not properly seasoned, it was dry and rough. The fried chicken however was delicious. The mashed potatoes seemed to be instant. The relish was good. The Servers are wonderful. For the price I expected more.

Three generations coming to White fence in lyons; baby to the original that has petting zoo. The chicken, fish, shrimp and mashed are amazing! Thank you so much for the best service and taste!

Too pricey, chicken was just an ordinary fried chicken not worth the price same as the battered shrimp taste like coming out from a frozen box.

In town for business and saw bill board on I55 and thought I would give it a try. Stopped in about six and had to wait for a table but the place is like a museum so had plenty to look at during the short wait. Ordered the chicken dinner. They brought sides before the main meal, pickled beets, cold slaw, kidney bean salad, corn fritters and cottage cheese. All were great and the 1/2 chicken was great. Would come back if I lived closer.

Good chicken and fish always fresh and cooked to order. Served with corn fritters and your choice of sides. Try, you'll like. One flaw are the drumstick sooo small. A bit pricey the it's worth a now and then treat.

Family favorite for decades. Great food in a beautiful setting. Family style chicken dinner is perfect for families.

The best fried chicken this side of town all the sides are delicious lots to look at & they have a little animal farm it's nice

This is by far the best chicken out there. I had to only give 4 stars because the price. It's quite expensive. But I guess you get what you pay for.

My favorite restaurant- every thing is soo good . My favorite dessert is the brandy ice yummy The restaurant is decorated for Christmas / I make sure I go to the restaurant during the holidays

food was good not great. Service was slow 1.5 hours from time we were seated until served. check was messed up and we ended up pay 10+ over what the bill should have been, server tried to get it corrected and even paid for the overcharge ($13) but the cashier would not correct the error (only refunded $5). I think she pocketed the money the server gave her. Ambiance was OK. Not in the top 20 restaurants in this area.

Prices have gone up like everything else but their food (chicken) is consistently good.

Most of our chicken was overcooked and overpriced. We used to go there pretty often but haven't been there in a couple of years. Probably won't be there for a few more years.

We ordered ahead online and got our food at the time it said it would be ready. This was my first time trying and it was really good. Really crispy thin batter; the sides were incredible. Overall, I would definitely come back and have this again.

We've been coming her for 6 years and every time is fantastic. The chicken is so soft and tender with the perfect texture. The corn fritters are the best. Service is great and parking is always good. Take out was perfect during Covid. Family run and worth going.

I think two stars is even too much to my great disappointment been a long time fan . But I noticed this year I have had ordered WHITE Fence farm in February and did not taste as good as It did chicken bland , mashed potatoes bland I thought they might be having a bad day. 6 months later picked up some chicken today no taste dry tasted like they refried it in oil to make it seem more crispy Instead tasted greasy mashed potatoes blah . I called White fence farm in Joliet to voice my opinion and manager was so on the defensive she acted as if she made the chicken herself and served it to me she made me feel as if I was in the wrong to even mention it. Well guess what me spending $40 on over priced chicken for a family franchise which has a manager who is ungrateful and rude is over thanks but no thanks

the menu was very confusing, margarita was just purée with tequila on top, the coleslaw was pure vinegar, the waiter was bad at explaining the menu and rude, lastly the portions were at most mean for 2 people instead of the 8 people we were dining with.

Chicken very good, meaty. Sides were so-so. Coleslaw too much vinegar. Servers appeared stressed and overwhelmed because the place is so busy. Wife enjoyed the brandy ice at the end.

They have some great chicken! Tastes like a wet batter. The corn fritters are amazing! They have sides, fried shrimp etc only thing Tues-Friday only open 4-8pm .

Ordered chicken here for the first time for a party.. since it says "the worlds best chicken". Boy we're we' fooled or what. The smallest pieces I've ever seen.. bland and dry. Lesson learned.. will not order here ever again!

I grew up eating White Fence Farm and the first time I brought my boyfriend here he said it was the best chicken he ever had. Seriously their food is delicious and at a good price too. What really will make the trip worth it is amazing service. We've been here multiple times and had excellent service every time. The rule is you can't call in a carry out order because no matter the size (unless over 100 pieces of chicken) it should be ready in under 10 minutes sometimes under 5 minutes. Everything is cooked fresh and right in front of you, the kitchen area is all open so you can see everything they are doing. We happened to walk in on a Sunday afternoon of a Bears game and it was packed. There were at least 5 people ahead of us. However the staff works efficiently to get all orders out in time and in an orderly fashion. With it being packed all together we waited no more than 15 minutes to order and get our food. We really appreciate this place!! Delicious and worth it even if it can get a little busy.

My families favorite fried chicken, my whole life. I still love it, there is a bit of grease, but the skin is crispy and the breading is light. Do not compare this to Kentucky fried chicken or Brown's or Popeyes, there's more chicken skin and less breading. Much closer to something grandma would make. The sides are fine, nothing spectacular... And on occasion they forget to put all of your sides in with your order.

Have been going here, seemingly since my mom was pregnant with me. That would be 68 years. It's classic family style. Everything's good, but I have to say that the gravy is very odd looking, and tasting. I stick with butter on the amazing mashed potatoes. I enjoyed my Makers Mark Old Fashioned, but my thirtysomething son-in-law was not a fan of it. If you have a child under 3 or 4, burn some quarters at the hen arcade that lays an egg. Our 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter was hypnotized by it, we must have left with 20 eggs. The llamas off the parking lot are really cute, but for real, one of them spit right in my wife's face. I mean, her hair blew back it was so forceful. It was pretty special

We did carry out and this is still awesome tasting chicken. Have been eating this since a kid and it's still awesome. Just as good as it gets for great fried chicken.

Wasn't to happy with them the pieces of chicken getting smaller and very dry. I remember this was one of the best chicken around but just disappointed. I guess everything comes to a end.

My White Fence Farm chicken was over fry didn't taste Marinated mostly a salty taste kind of dry, crust was okay, chicken leg was small. The Gravy had very little taste, Cold slaw had a little Vinegar taste to it over all okay. The BEST thing there was the corn fitter that's what I'll go back for Corn Fritters

Excellent fries, chicken was fresh threw in some corn fritters pretty good but not the best I ever had all in all a solid place next time I'll try the shrimp

Don't be put off by the empty, behind-the-counter/kitchen look. I'm not sure why it is so empty back there... DO be excited about the food that is about to come your way. I grew up going to the Joliet WFF, and am therefore partial to the food. However seeing the other positive reviews I know it's not just my childhood-memories driving my love of the food. The menu is a bit 1950's-rural-America in all the deli sides and the cafeteria-like-mashed potatoes w/ neon yellow gravy. But you'll love it. Note that things are on the sweet side: vinegar coleslaw and corn fritters. Kidney bean salad has a bit of tang and IS SO YUMMY. When you order a dozen corn fritters they are likely to give you extra : )

In February the familycelebrates 4birthdays. To celebrate we decided to go to White Fence Farm. We hadn't celebrated at the Farm for a couple of years and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and chicken. My wife called to reserve a table for 10. Having 2 small kids we wanted some space between us and other parties because of covid. The lady on the phone advised that no outside food was allowed. My wife thought nothing of it since people had been celebrating birthdays at WFF for years. Based on previous experience and that the lady did not specify birthday cakes we ordered a cake. When we arrived and waited for our party the receptionist questioned that we had a cake and no food was allowed. We referred to history and questioned what to do with the cake. When are party had assembled and was ready to sit down Judy the manager came by to reiterate policy which had changed in the past year. We were willing to not place candles on the cake and not sing Happy Birthday and we wouldn't do it again. " No can't do it, no exceptions , no food people might complain. She tried to explain the policy but no exceptions, take your cake home. It appears birthday cakes were infringing on their profitsand waiter time. They had abandoned a long tradition of celebrating birthdays to sell their ice cream. Thanks. Originally we were introduced to our server a happy smiley lady and replaced with what I'll call the enforcer. She did her job but you could see she had an attitude and told what to do by Judy. What could have been a sizable tip was cut and even then to generous. My wife had brought paper plates and distributed the cake. An alternative for management to consider. No singing, no candles a celebration turned into frustration. We had challenged the policy. Yes, they have a right to eliminate birthday parties but maybe a little civility would have been nice. So after 40+ years we quit WFF. It's not because of the foodbut the attitude and managemenbt policy. We'll move on to someplace that enjoys seeing a happy party with happy people, not just a money venture. So long WFF thanks for the past memories. We'll move on to some place where they appreciate our business and believe in customer service with a smile. George Tarasuk

Finally, had a chance to stop by to pick up some chicken. My mom loves Popeye's, but I wanted to change it up a bit. There is a few tables for dine in, but I'm sure they mainly get carry out here. There is a parking lot too. We went with the #1 special (20 piece chicken and 2 dozen fritters) and a pint of cole slaw. We drove all the way to Chinatown and then back home and the chicken was still good. 20 piece Chicken - Light crispy skin. It was good, but not the greatest. I believe they use smaller chickens as the pieces are a bit smaller. We couldn't really tell the breast from the thighs. 2 Dozen Fritters - I didn't know what to expect from these, but we all liked them. Smaller than I expected since the girl said they are like donut holes. Cole Slaw - This was different. It had more of a tang too it. My mom said it was too sour for her. Only thing was, there was way too much liquid in it. Overall, we liked the place. It is a bit of a drive from us, but I'll be back!

People are rude when ordering... Food is good but employees need to work on customer service.

I've gotten the picnic pack and they gave me three tubs of cold slaw. Who eats that much cold slaw? Everything was okay, honestly, salt would help so much. Nothing was seasoned. It was quite depressing. Mac n cheese and mash potatoes werent hitting the mark. To be really honest, this is older folks food. Everything is soft and not seasoned at all. I had high hopes but I wont come back. Popeyes is the better choice and cheaper.

I'm so disappointed with my experience yesterday with White Fence Farm that I'll never eat there again. I called on Friday to place an order for Sunday as I was having a party of 12 people come to my house and I didn't want to cook. I confirmed the order twice on the phone with the lady who took my order and paid in advance and specified the time we'd be picking up. Yesterday (Sunday) my husband went to pick it up and waited for about 25 minutes to get our order even though he showed up about 10 minutes after the time we had specified. When he got home there were no mashed potatoes in the order even though I had confirmed that we wanted 5 orders of fries and 5 orders of mashed potatoes as our options for the meals we chose. I called as soon I realized the mistake and the person I talked to on the phone was extremely rude and kept saying 'listen ma'am you didn't order mashed potatoes, you only ordered fries.' There was no customer service, no offer to solve the problem, just repeatedly telling me there were no mashed potatoes on the order. He was so rude that I hung up on him and I don't even know if I got a full 10 orders of fries that I paid for. I purposely chose a local restaurant since I live in Riverside but if this is how they treat customers after spending $180 on food, then I won't be going back. The food is good, but this is not the first time they have messed up an order and not included what we paid for. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else.

This is the best chicken place I have ever been to. I got frustrated by idiots rating this place down so I decided to write my own review. It is advertised as carry out and they have a policy of not ordering ahead cus it takes them 5 mins to make a large amount of food. Chicken is perfectly moist and has a crispy crust without being too greasy. Fritters and fries are both amazing as well. Sweet fritters with chunks of corn. Fries have perfect texture and not fried to death. I don't particularly like mashed potatoes or cole slaw but they just taste like mashed potatoes and cole slaw, nothing special. Great prices, lots of food, but terrible hours. I WANT CHICKEN ALL THE TIME!!

The fried chicken here is truly unique! We were waiting for this place to open and people were already coming in at that time. We had the chicken along with corn fritters and fries. Because we took it to go and the drive was 30 mins, the chicken wasn't as fresh as it could've been had we ate there. Nonetheless, it wasn't your typical fried texture -- the batter was really flavorful and complimented the chicken as it stayed moist. The fries were crunchy and had perfect seasoning! I would love to come back and dine-in to get the full experience of the freshly fried chicken. Definitely check this place out if you love southern fried chicken :)

The chicken here is really tasty. When ordering expect to wait but it's worth every minutes the mash potatoes are amazing as are the fries. I would recommend bringing honey as they don't offer it and that's how I like to eat my fried chicken. Other than that if you have a craving for fried chicken this is the place!
