"White Lion Cafe feels like an antique store in an old Florida home that happens to serve meatloaf on tables covered with floral tablecloths. This delightfully unhinged restaurant is mostly a lunch spot—but they do dinner on Friday nights from 5pm till (according to the sign outside) "[the] fat lady sings." There are enough cats on the back patio to start a riot with a laser pointer, and the menu has the kind of comfort food a grandmother might make you for a 2pm dinner. Think fried chicken with a ball of mashed potatoes and fried broccoli with thick ranch. If it’s available, you finish your early dinner/late lunch with a massive coconut cake for dessert." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer

"White Lion Cafe feels like an antique store in an old Florida home that happens to serve meatloaf on tables covered with floral tablecloths. Also, the Christmas decorations are left up year-round. This delightfully unhinged Homestead restaurant is mostly a lunch spot—with dinner on Friday nights from “5pm till [the] fat lady sings,” and enough cats on the back patio to start a riot with a laser pointer. It serves the kind of comfort food your grandmother would make you for a 2pm dinner. Think fried chicken with a ball of mashed potatoes and fried broccoli with thick ranch. If you want to pretend you’re a billionaire looking for a midnight snack, order the p.j. and dom—which they claim is the world’s largest peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It also comes with a bottle of champagne for a mere $200. We didn’t get it, but we do think you should order the much more reasonably priced (yet still massive) coconut cake for dessert. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings / @eatthecanvasllc" - Virginia Otazo

White Lion Café isn’t just a restaurant: it's an experience that feels like eating at Grandma's house, where the portions are big and the ambience feels like home. My Popeye’s Spinach Salad, fresh as a morning breeze and loaded with lean grilled chicken, onions, feta, zucchini, squash, cucumbers, and a perfectly cooked egg, was a testament to clean eating without sacrifice; I opted for olive oil and lemon for dressing, and I sprinkled some black pepper on top of my salad to give it a bit more zest. My wife’s Sweet Chicken Sandwich was a crispy, indulgent creation from the specials menu; it was the kind of sandwich that was so good you get sad when it's gone off the dinner plate, leaving only crumbs: unapologetic, crave-worthy, and real. Shelby and Tiffany delivered the kind of attentive, authentic service you can’t fake, and even the manager, Lory, stepped out to ensure we were taken care of; a rare and beautiful experience of extra care and hospitality. Two incredible meals, five-star service, and the total bill, even with tip, floated under fifty dollars. A steal. A sanctuary. A place worth returning to.

I liked the place. The food was nothing extraordinary, but it was exemptionaly good. The service was great, but it was a pretty long wait. Loved the atmosphere, though. Overall, if you're looking for a calm and chill place to talk for a while, I would highly recommend this.

The food was delicious. The service was slow, and even though they weren't full, the waitress seemed overwhelmed or uninterested in being prompt. She was very slow and we didn't see many other customers. The chicken salad croissant special was delicious, although the chunks should have been smaller. We gooey brownies were good but they needed the ice cream to sweeten the dark chocolate.

Literally wow. Best fish tacos I’ve ever had and best chicken wrap. Best experience. DO NOT let other people veer you away from this place with silly complaints about service. The staff was cool, and the food was unreal. All around American comfort-style meals in a quaint little converted home. 10/10/10

Had an event here and the owner was very kind in helping us host it at the restaurant, everything came out spectacular. We were able to build our own menu and decorate the outdoor space to our liking. I’m really glad we had creative control and the restaurant was able to accommodate. The food itself was phenomenal, the portions were just right and everyone left satisfied. The service for the event was incredible, all the waitresses that helped us out deserve great recognition for assisting to all the guests. Really felt welcomed and part of the family at the White Lion Cafe. Would definitely keep coming back here again for lunch or dinner and for any future events.

I recently had the pleasure of having lunch at the White Lion Cafe and could not have been more impressed. From the moment we walked in the door, it was clear that this was a special place. Not only does it allow pets, which is always appreciated, but the ambiance was lovely. The decor was tasteful and created a cozy atmosphere that made me feel right at home. But what really stood out to me about this cafe was the food. It was absolutely delicious. Every bite was bursting with flavor and the presentation was impeccable. The food exceeded all my expectations, and the dessert was ultra delicious !!! The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. Lulu & Zarina went out of their way to make sure my husband, Bruno and I had a memorable experience. Lastly, the location of this cafe is perfect. It is situated in a lovely neighborhood of Homestead, there are air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned facilities, the outdoor seating offers a beautiful view of the entire courtyard. All in all I highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and memorable local experience. Overall, the White Lion Cafe is definitely a hidden gem worth visiting in Homestead, Miami.

Delicious! We ordered shrimp with angel hair pasta and another fish special that I can't recall at the moment. Dessert included a hot brownie with vanilla ice cream and a thick chocolate chip cookie that was warmed up. The server was so sweet and the restaurant had a homey mix-matched vibe, adorned with random things throughout (used to be a thrift store?)
