My husband and I stayed at The White Moose Inn for one night. This is such a quaint little place in the heart of Washington, VA, a small town and easily walkable. We were greeted by James upon arrival and during happy hour. He was easy to talk to and helpful. In the morning, we were greeted by Barbara for breakfast and she was also easy to talk and provided us with some local attractions for the next time we decide to visit the area. We enjoyed our quick trip and our stay at the inn and highly recommend staying here if you ever get the chance.

We made a trip just to visit the Inn at Little Washington for dinner. Our stay at the white moose inn was spectacular. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived and the views were beautiful. Our biggest surprise was the quality of the breakfast served. We had originally booked brunch at Patty O’s and decided to cancel as the quality of our first breakfast was so good. No disappointments and an excellent weekend getaway. Thank you so much for your hospitality

The White Moose Inn is lovely. I love how modern it is. It's simple and luxurious and located less than a five minute walk down the main street to the Inn at Little Washington. Even better, the people who work/own the White Moose are just as wonderful as the Inn itself. The owner was even kind enough to make me a latte on my birthday. Plus, the beds are like sleeping in a cloud. Hope to visit again soon.

We went to Washington VA to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The White Moose Inn was the perfect place. We arrived on a rainy day. Our room was "The Cottage" which contained a wood burning stove. That was just the ticket to take the chill and moisture out of the air and make the room cozy. That night it rained harder and the tin roof provided a very relaxing sound.||The next day, after some retail therapy, was our evening to have our Michelin 3 star anniversary dinner. It was a short walk from our cottage to the Little Washington Inn and a great way to celebrate.||The room was cleon, the staff was attentive and courteous. And the breakfasts were delicious. We could not have asked for a nicer stay.

We had a fantastic stay at this inn! We were in the cottage which was beautiful, spotlessly clean, quiet and comfortable. The hospitality was exceptional — everyone made us feel so welcome and taken care of. And what a treat to be served breakfast at the cottage! It’s clear they take great pride in their place and in making guests feel at home. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

I don’t want to write this review, because the place is too good and I will lose access to it. Bummer||So, in this little town or anywhere this is an absolute find. You can feel it when you get there and with every interaction — the standards are high. And at the same time it is just like coming home. The rooms are fantastic, comfortable, with thoughtful additions. The venue itself has such neat ideas like the happy hour, and basically 24 seven access to small snacks and drinks, it just works. Barb and Tiffany are the best, I’m making my reservation now so you don’t steal mine for 2026 :-)

My husband and I went here for our anniversary weekend and the Inn was wonderful. We arrived late but check-in was easy and smooth, our room was beautiful and details were thought of - snacks in the lobby, drinks, treats in our room, and a delicious breakfast the following morning. This town is adorable and lots of little places to visit. Would definitely go back here again.

Yelp
My wife and I loved our stay at the White Moose Inn. We had dinner reservations with another couple at the Inn at Little Washington which is an easy stroll away. We enjoyed happy hour drinks around a fire pit on White Moose's deck. Rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. Our room had a wood burning stove which was a nice feature. And breakfast the next morning was a pleasant surprise and the perfect end our adventure.

Yelp
We stayed at the White Moose Inn so we could do the late seating for new years at the inn at little Washington restaurant. It was incredibly charming. Check in was a breeze and our host showed us everything in the room and made sure we could text her directly for anything. There is a clipboard on the wall that has reminders for everything too including Wi-Fi, happy hour, and checkin/out times. She also asked what time we wanted breakfast delivered to the room since that is a benefit of the cottage. There is parking guaranteed right next to the cottage and it seemed enough for two full-sized vehicles easily. Wi-fi worked great. We loved the wood stove. You don't need it for heating purposes but it was very nice and cozy to sit beside the fire. The cottage has a lot of windows to let in natural light which was enchanting in the morning. When you get there you'll realize the room faces the road but you need to worry as they have great privacy shades that also block any night light. The bathroom actually has a wall heater unit installed too. It was so nice stepping out from the shower into a very cozy bathroom space. We slept amazing. If you are a light sleeper you might consider traveling with a white noise machine or downloading an app for that. There isn't really much noise but the very rare car driving past. It was raining for our stay but there is a nice furnished side deck area that would be nice to eat breakfast on. There is snacks and drinks in the main house which is just a few feet from the cottage. They do also have happy hour where guests can mingle too. My husband and I are introverts so we stayed in but felt welcome to go. Overall it was a great stay and I highly recommend staying here.

Yelp
Such a charming and modern take on a bed and breakfast. The bf and I had dinner plans at the Inn at Little Washington but didn't want to fork over a grand to stay there overnight - the White Moose Inn was perfect for us! Just a 2-minute walk from the Inn at Little Washington, more affordable, and the space and service were superb. We stayed in the Villa Mountain Premier room for our Saturday night which is separate from the main house. So many wonderful things about the space: super clean, smartly decorated, spacious, most comfortable bed and bedding, fireplace, heater, kitchenette, lots of windows and sunlight, gorgeous deck and view. We enjoyed their happy hour of local wine and whiskey, and got treated to a delicious breakfast the next morning served right to us: scrumptious quiche, local bakery muffins, yogurt, fruit, granola, coffee, and juice. It was sooo relaxing and wonderful to get away and be pampered. Brendan was awesome at taking care of us and everyone working there is just so accommodating and friendly. I would love to come back!

Yelp
A tastefully designed inn with attention to detail, this inn is a home away from home with all the modern comforts. Love the Scandinavian inspired decor that sleek yet playful with the moose head lighting. The rooms are totally sound proof and the blue tooth shower speaker is a touch of fun! I loved my room with the mountain view and l'occitane products! We spent our anniversary at the inn before heading to the Inn at Little Washington for dinner. Though the white moose inn provides accommodation for the people who dine at the famous restaurant, it really stands on its own as an inn. I heard that there are secret supper clubs that is hosted at its dining room! The happy hour showcased some good Virginian wines and whiskey. The breakfast was also very good. What a lovely time spent at the white moose inn. I would definitely stay there again!

Yelp
Friendly, attentive and helpful staff highlight this well-placed boutique hotel on the Main Street of Washington VA within steps of the exceptional restaurant The Inn at Little Washington. Wonderful experience!

Yelp
This place is a perfect combo of rustic and modern, tastefully decorated, impeccably clean, and very well maintained. The host was very kind and accommodating - we got upgraded to a suite with an amazing view. After breakfast, we enjoyed a nice, leisurely walk in town. The location is wonderful too, just a few minutes walk to the Inn at Little Washington. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I don't think we could have asked for a better place to have our Babymoon. The Villa (#7) we stayed in was updated, clean, bright and beautiful w/All modern amenities and a full kitchen. The private deck that looked out to a grassy field was the perfect place to relax. Brandon was a fantastic host, so pleasant to around. We can't say enough good things about this place and can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Lovely cottage! Just a few short blocks from the Inn at LW. The main house is lovely. It's decorated in a very modern, yet comfortable manner. The rooms were well appointed with cute little touches like jars of M&Ms by the bedside. The beds were comfy and the linens were nice. They serve a happy hour with whiskey and wine at 5PM. It was expensive but so charming it was worth it for a special weekend.

Yelp
Very nice lodging. Clean and spacious room. We were in #3 and had great views. Recommended

Yelp
Stylish, modern B&B with all the comforts and amenities of a high end hotel in any world class city. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, I had to pry myself away so that I wouldn't miss the lovely breakfast! Highly recommend if you are dining at one of the fine culinary establishments in the area or enjoying a VA wine country getaway, or any other reason that would bring you to Washington, VA.

Yelp
Be very careful when reserving a room here. We were planning dinner at the nearby Inn at Little Washington but had to cancel. Even with several weeks notice, White Moose Inn refused to cancel our reservation charged us $371 for a room that they will no doubt fill with another traveler. Please watch the notice on Travelocity, which is not prominent enough, and the Inn does not let you know. Very unfair trade practice.

Yelp
I rarely write reviews/put my name in the public domain but could not recommend this place more strongly. The place was immaculate, design-wise it was inspiring, what the rooms didn't show the Tashen Books provided. Rooms were immaculate, everything was thought of, for example the windows were double or triple paned and couldn't hear a thing through them, the doors were sealed so I couldn't hear anyone else outside the room or building. I was born, raised and educated in NYC, peace and quiet is an extravagance. Being in the center of the little town put everything in walking distance. The fresh cut and fragrant peonies were a nice touch and a pleasant surprise to return to. Ran into Proprietor, very nice guy, confirmed everything was well but didn't chew our ears off like most innkeepers. Immaculate, clean, hip spot, was surprised to find it in such an old town. Left a bag their, they were kind enough to mail it back for me. one small negative (or positive) was in a dead zone for VZ wireless but the internet service was better than home, facetimed colleagues.

Yelp
What a great place! From the moment before we arrived (yes before!) we were getting attentive inquiries of what would make our visit and stay personal and quality. The rooms are very nice, well appointed, in a statement of simple elegance. Nothing over the top, just quality. The evening brings a lovely happy hour where you can get to know fellow travelers and engage in some quality local wines and a delightful locally distilled single malt. The morning brings a very nice breakfast laid our by hosts. Again, nothing over the top, simply local quality ingredients. We will head back to the White Moose Inn as our quick getaway destination choice going forward.

Yelp
A lovely place. Perfectly curated and maintained with a warm and professional staff. A two-minute walk to the Inn at Little Washington and the perfect compliment to its more ornate, historical feel. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
White Moose Inn is the perfect, relaxing retreat you didn't know you needed! The decor and atmosphere is a wonderful combination of rustic and modern, cozy and luxurious, with impeccable service from the managers Adam and Lin. My husband and I went for a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary and were wowed by every aspect of the Inn. Adam and Lin really put thought and care into each detail, and it felt like visiting friends in a (dream) home away from home. A few examples: Our dinner reservations overlapped with their free happy hour so they happily offered us wine and locally-crafted whiskey early, which we sipped out on the sunny patio while looking out on the mountains. The next day, we planned to go hiking in Shenandoah and even though we canceled our early morning hike, they still packed us a bag of hiking snacks, including a lovely note, to take for our afternoon trek. Overall, the best inn or hotel we have stayed at in years. Thank you for an unforgettable experience. We'll be back!

Yelp
Great little gem in the heart of "little Washington" great rooms, accommodating staff. Carlo Wood was incredible as our host.. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. This place is a short walk away from the Famed Inn at Little Washington French restaurants.. Highly recommended a night or two at this place!

Yelp
My wife and I came in for a belated anniversary trip. The owners took care of our every need, to the point of packing extra waters and a delicious snack for us for our Shenandoah National Park hiking adventure, and leaving an extra glass of wine for me past happy hour just because they thought I would appreciate it, which I did. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The breakfast was delicious. They went above and beyond. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful experience! Michelle was very pleasant, detail-oriented, and highly sensitive to our needs. It is so nice to not have to participate in the "bed and breakfast" social experience if you are in the mood for privacy. Thanks again! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Easily the best Inn in this area! Everyone raves about the Inn at Little Washington, but if you want a low stress, perfect and truly wonderful experience, look no further than the White Moose Inn! The staff was amazing, breakfast incredible and every amenity including wine, whiskey, snacks, free Wi-Fi, Bluetooth speaker and beautiful room were stupendous!!!!

Syed A.

Yelp
What a wonderful place to stay if you are dining at The Inn at Little Washington or just looking for a place to relax in the country near Shenandoah. My wife and I stayed for 1 day and our only regret it not staying longer. The White Moose Inn is tastefully decorated in a modern style, with a perfect combination of country comfort and hospitality. The mountain view from the deck is breathtaking, and can be enjoyed peacefully over breakfast - a tasty blend of baked goods from a local bakery and excellent coffee. The manager also made us a delicious gruyere frittata. The company makes the experience even more enjoyable. While getting cell phone reception is tough in this part of Virginia, the rooms have great wi-fi, Bluetooth speakers in the shower and the beds are very comfortable. Overall, this is a gem and a highly recommended place to stay for anyone venturing through the Virginia mountainside.

Yelp
I don't have much experience with B&B's at all, but I definitely had one of the best times staying at The White Moose Inn. I was greeted by one of the innkeepers Lin and he immediately made us feel at home. The decorations of the entire Inn has a very cozy feel to it that I've never seen anywhere else. We stayed in the suite which was very spacious and had a cabin feel to it. The service provided by Lin and Lorraine was excellent. They made sure we were comfortable and went above and beyond to grant our needs and requests. I would definitely like to come back and would recommend this place to just about anyone.

Yelp
I've always wanted dinner at Inn at Little Washington, but I absolutely despise old things (antiques, old curtain, etc.) so I couldn't imagine enjoying a room there. Enter White Moose Inn, which was sheer perfection in terms of a cozy yet modern inn. The room was lovely with very comfortable bedding, towels, robes, etc., a big TV with Netflix and cable, and even a Bluetooth shower speaker. A bowl of M&Ms awaited us in our room. The shared downstairs area had 24/7 coffee (via Keurig) available, cold sodas, and some snacks such as Goldfish crackers. Happy Hour was casual and fun; we chatted with another couple for just a moment and then took our wine and whiskey, respectively, back to our rooms. There's not much to do in town but between the wine/chocolate place next door, a fancy dinner at Inn at Little Washington, the cafe for lunch, and Tula's for dinner the second night, it was a perfect escape from DC!

Yelp
Just perfect. From our greeting upon arrival to the moment we said goodbye, I couldn't even find one thing to suggest as an improvement. Sarah is lovely and I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
What a fantastic experience!! We stayed for one night at the White Moose Inn. The staff were amazing and very helpful. They did everything they could to accommodate us before we even arrived! The inn is around the corner from the Inn at Little Washington where we had dinner. We picked White Moose instead because it looked more modern. The view from our room was breathtaking. Breakfast was from a little bakery near by and it was delicious. All and all, a great experience! I can't wait to go back!

Lary B.

Yelp
My wife and I are experienced inn dwellers, from coast to coast, 30+ years. We'll start with the positives about The White Moose Inn. It has a very nice deck so when the weather allows you can have their "happy hour" and "breakfast" overlooking their neighbor's backyard. Free Wi-Fi. That completes the positives. The 5 PM wine was local but not very good, and it was accompanied by M&Ms and a nut mixture available at Costco. The breakfast was brought in from a bakery in Warrenton. So it was a cheap hotel level quality, BUT THIS INN IS NOT CHEAP. It is terribly overpriced. Furnishings are cheap, floors are creaky. It is inexpensive compared to the rooms at the nearby Inn at Little Washington, but that's a totally different universe. I doubt there will be many return visits to this Inn. Nearby Blue Rock Inn is a four star competitor, and recommended.

Yelp
I wanted to whisk my husband away for a celebration but we don't enjoy inns or B&Bs that are decorated like nana's Victorian house. Unfortunately, until recently, this area didn't really offer any other options. The White Moose Inn is an oasis of cool comfort in an area brimming with tchotkes and very traditional decor. We knew we'd love it as soon as we pulled up and saw 3 Huffy cruisers begging to be taken out. The innkeeper, Christina is gracious, considerate, fun and welcoming as can be. The common areas feel like if Jonathan Adler brought Palm Springs chic to the Virginia countryside. Besides being clean, beautiful and modern, we took advantage of every amenity: the smart TV, the bluetooth speaker in the shower head (!!!), the complimentary beverage fridge, the wine and whiskey happy hour, the breakfast featuring granola and quiche from Red Truck Bakery, the cute little mason jars of M&Ms, and the lovely porch facing the mountains. We had a standard room and it was more than enough for us, especially since it was rather pricey, but I can't imagine having to stay at a stuffy old doily-covered place; especially when you consider that we had a wonderful king bed with crisp linens. I think Christina and the gorgeous aesthetic of the White Moose might become an even bigger draw for us than the Inn at Little Washington's food, and that is saying A LOT. Being a mere block away from the Inn at Little Washington made it the perfect place for a dream getaway for an amazing dinner celebration.

Michele L.

Yelp
Sheer perfection. Wonderful staff, gorgeous modern decor and steps away from the Inn. They know how to keep their guests happy and the complimentary breakfast was delicious. Loved our stay here.

Peter S.

Yelp
South Beach chic meets Virginia hunt country! A charming Inn down the street from the Inn at Little Washington, featuring gorgeous clean bedrooms with the MOST comfortable beds in Virginia. The innkeeper even offers complimentary after dinner drinks in the cozy lounge! We will definitely stay again when dining at the Inn at Little Washington, touring wineries, or hiking Old Rag or White Oak Canyon.

Yelp
The White Moose Inn is the most delightful little place I've ever spent the night. We found the Inn by chance, when looking for somewhere to stay after dinner at the Inn at Little Washington, right down the street. I could not be happier that we did. From the moment we arrived, Lin and Adam, the managers there, treated us like personal friends, taking the utmost care to ensure our stay was pleasant and organized to suit our tastes. With only 5 rooms in the main house and a cabin, the two of them were personable and kind, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome (they even called a personal friend to ask where we might find horses to ride on short notice.) Beyond exceptional service, the Inn stands out for its beautiful alpine decor, bright spacious rooms, and remarkable attention to detail - making this an experience that combines luxury with homeliness and comfort. Our stay included a gratis happy hour (with some exceptional local wines and whiskey), limitless snacks and refreshments, and a lovely breakfast of cake, berries, yogurt, and quiche. The overall experience was perfectly curated. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Jillian F.

Yelp
Refreshing, modern take on the classic bed and breakfast. No doilies or floral prints here! Clean, open and welcoming spaces. There's a great deck to take in the scenery of the mountains. Breakfast was a plentiful spread from local farms and bakeries. The Inn Manager is knowledge about the area and very accommodating. The owners friendly, hospitable nature shines through in every detail of the property.

P R M.

Yelp
Overpriced! Creaky floors, firetrap house. Deck was nice, but the offering of cheap wine and trail mix is laughable. Cannot believe the other reviewers stayed at the same place. Maybe relatives off the owner. Have stayed in other inns in Little Washington that were much nicer for less $$.

Irene S.

Yelp
The best way to describe The White Moose Inn is by its meticulous attention to detail. The rooms were beautifully appointed with excellent beds, and no detail was overlooked. The sophisticated decor creates a chic yet warm country inn. The location cannot be better with access to the best of the area. It is perfect both for a luxurious getaway or an outdoorsy weekend in the country. We can't wait to return!
