Holy cow, where do I even begin! My wife and I wanted to try this place for our date night (you absolutely should make a reservation ahead of time) and we were completely blown away! From the food, to the ambiance, to the service, everything was absolutely fantastic. Their specials menu is absolutely spot on. My wife got a delicious pasta dish and I went for a meatloaf sandwich (don’t let the that deceive you) and both were totally fantastic! Our cocktails were absolutely spot on and delicious!!! I would highly recommend you get there a few minutes before your reservation because the parking is limited and you may need to find street parking.

For a small place, what a BIG IMPRESSION! Love this place and will ABSOLUTELY BE BACK! We loved the Halloween decorations, the bartenders, Jose and Erhern, were AWESOME, serving the best Lychee Martini EVER! The appetizers to the entrees were IMPRESSIVE! The service was on point, including the owners, Rob and Mimi! I thought I was at their house, eating in their living room! Rob was super personable and open for constructive criticism. He greeted most patrons as if he knew them for years! As we were leaving, we told Jose to say good bye to Rob, as he went back into the kitchen. Just as we exited the restaurant, he came running out to say goodbye, as he known us for years! They deserve much success and greater praise! Well done Rob and Mimi! You both deserve all the success in the world! We'll see you soon FOR SURE!

First time here, as I love to go and support all local small business. Not sure what this was before a restaurant, but they did a nice job in the renovations. Started out with a classic margarita, very good, not sure I should have ordered another as I was full. Got the French onion soup 🍲, I really liked it only three suggestions. One smaller 🥄 with the soup. If the cheese could be toasted a little bit. And 3rd, the edges of the bread inside the soup were a little too crunchy to break with the spoon. For my main course I ordered the Unforgettable Sandwich with slow braised short rib. I was gonna get the burger as I knew the rib was gonna be a little sloppy to eat. However, with that being said the rib sandwich was extremely good and flavorful. We got two desserts for the table. A brownie mix, very tasty as well and the taste of chocolate was rich and dry. Overall it was a good time to get out of the house and enjoy family time with a local establishment.

Came for dinner on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday. We had a reservation for 7:30 for we were seeing a show prior to attend. We wound up being very early due to the show ending earlier than we had thought. The staff was very accommodating and sat us within 5 minutes. Our waitress was very attentive, made sure that we didn't need to wait for anything that we could have wanted. The only unpleasant interaction that we encountered was with one of the bartenders. My friend asked if she could have one of the specialty cocktails without one of the ingredients, and he was a bit rude with his reply. at $15 per cocktail, you should be able to ask for it the way you would like it. Overall, great place to grab a bite and a drink. FYI, parking is a little tight so don't get discouraged for there is plenty of parking on the side streets.

Visiting from Florida and meet up with family here for a bite to eat. My sister has been here several times and really " talked it up". We started with the hummus appetizer and it was the bomb! Topped with chopped up tomatoes and cucumbers.... so good! We also ordered some drinks that were made with love. Now for the entree's...Some of us had the Jersey Boy, some had the salmon dish which was served on a bed of hummus, and the others had a burger. Everything was very good and each had its on special twist of flavors. The best part was dessert, we all shared the carrot cake and the bread pudding. Both of these were the best we've ever had! Apparently, the bread pudding won't be back until the holidays 🥲. The carrot cake was fantastic as well served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The negatives were the chairs on the high tops, we all felt like we were going to slide off. The atmosphere was fun but very loud( not a place to have a conversation), and the parking sucks ( no fault of the establishment since it's a in town street parking primarily). Overall, I get why they have great reviews. They hit all the buttons when it comes to food quality and great drinks!

We had a really good dinner here. The front and outside of the building is unassuming but don’t be discouraged by that or the off Main Street location. It’s very nice inside. The food we had was very good and the service was great. We had the Asian Zing spare ribs which we really enjoyed. For mains we had Hearts of Fire and WOT salads. Both with Salmon. The salmon was cooked nicely. Little crisp outside in spots but very juicy inside. The WOT is really refreshing with the chopped tomatoes and cucumbers. We would come back and try other dishes. The staff was really friendly. If you found this helpful follow me. I don’t give many 5* because I reserve that for the very best in food, service and experience. I try to be quick to the most important stuff, the food. Then add notes about the rest. Enjoy!

White Owl Tavern is a great little hidden gem in Wharton. You could taste the dedication. Everything was delicious and presentation was fun. We appreciated the homemade coleslaw and sauces to enhance the meal. Definitely recommend! Only drawback was limited parking.

Stumbled upon this decent spot tucked away in a peaceful town, and it turned out to be a great find. The White Owl Lager was refreshingly crisp and flavorful—definitely a highlight if you're into craft beers. I had the fish and chips, and it didn’t disappoint—crispy, flaky, and satisfying. The service was friendly and attentive, and the decor was cozy with a laid-back vibe. Plenty of comfortable seating made it easy to relax and enjoy the meal. A solid place to unwind with good food, good beer, and good company.

Hole in the wall spot with friendly atmosphere, amazing staff, delicious food and drinks, and a great place to go for any occasion during the week or weekend! Will be back and highly recommend!

Everything is made to perfection! The cocktails are great too! The ambiance feels like it has a city vibe- not a small town bar. Love it!

Here's the deal! Really liked this place The inside is bright and clean! There is a bar area on the left and booths right with tables in between. Our service was excellent Jennifer was a big help with suggestions! Also met one of the owners and loved her background and vision for the restaurant. Food: appetizers Ribs 9/10. Meatballs 8/10. Taco Birra 10/10 Main course: chicken parm 8/10. King Louie Ripper hotdogs 7/10 (enjoyed by others at the table). Smash burgers 9/10 Short rib special 10/10! Dessert: crème brûlée was standard and yummy The brownie dessert was amazing Some things to note : Parking can be tough in that area Noise level is high That said. Good spot for casual date or to grab a bit at the bar Kid friendly too Definitely go back

Everything was delicious! This place is a gem! The Jersey boy and Spaghetti Pesto were top notch! Will definitely be back!

We went here for a date night during the middle of the week. The side parking that was available was convenient but I can see parking perhaps being difficult during a busy weekend/holiday since it's located on a residential street. Either way it worked out for us! I don't think you can go wrong with any of their cocktails. Amy the co-owner with her husband mentioned they will be having seasonal menus which is nice for someone like me who likes to be a frequent eater at fave places and can have options the next time I return. Attaching photos of what we ordered. My recommendations: Ribs as app were amazing, crispy chicken sandwich had some heat but it was very mild and you have to end the night with the warm and fuzzy.

I had the birria nachos, birria grilled cheese with apricot jam, and fish & chips, and everything was fantastic! The flavors were fresh, well-balanced, and each dish had its own unique twist. The birria grilled cheese with apricot jam was a standout--sweet, savory, and perfectly grilled. Definitely a great spot for upscale bar grub! I also got the vodka fusilini for lunch which was good and zesty!

White Owl Tavern is a restaurant that recently opened in Wharton. I believe this was an older bar and it's been remodeled into a nice, little restaurant. On a Saturday night, the place was crowded, but there were open tables. We sat in a booth, but the bar looks very good also. As with most places, there seems to be a few kinks to iron out, but we had a fun time here. They have an interesting drink menu and next time will go for one of those. Since we were ordering Italian entrees, my wife and I went with Pinot Noir. The one negative I have here is that I wasn't crazy about my order, Fusilli alla Vodka. My wife had the chicken parm and thought it was very good, although she wasn't crazy about the pasta. Next time we go back, I think we'll try items off the sandwich menu. We split a dessert called "Warm & Fuzzy" which was amazing! Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, all heated in a skillet with a crumb topping and ice cream from Denville Dairy on top. This was the star of the meal! Our server, Julianna, was fantastic! Great personality and took care of everything we needed. Parking is mostly on the street and was a little tight. My main take away was that we liked this place well enough to go back again!

Decide to stop by the new place that opened in town, and I will definitely be coming here often! Food: starting off with very light, delectable misto fritto which had an amazing mix of shrimp and calamari with a delicious sauce they referred to as the WOT sauce. I had the pusilli alla vodka as per the recommendation of the waitress which was out of this world. The vodka sauce, complimented by the whipped ricotta, and spiced up with some cherry peppers, was a perfect blend that I truly enjoyed with every bite. My wife has birria tacos which were the first that I have never seen soaked in grease with a supposedly excellent consommé dip Aesthetic: from the beautiful wood/laminate flooring, to the pretty neon signs, and the nice coordination of powdered coated metal and wood makes us very aesthetically pleasing and Instagram worthy place. Service: our waitress, Allie/Ally, was amazing. She gave us great recommendations, helped us frequently, and was super kind to us the entire time. She is one of the many reasons my wife and I will be back.

Stopped in for lunch with my wife. Peaceful setting nice music not too loud. Had a king Louie and short rib sandwich. Short rib was especially good. Nice clean and enjoyable always. Pleasant and helpful with recommendations from the waiter. Thank you.

Allegedly has no seats needs only if you reservations with several empty tables at 5pm. Not to mention the five minutes it took someone to stroll over to tell us that. No one is making reservations for a glorified dive bar.

Been here a few times and finally getting around to writing a review! White owl tavern is one of our go to local spots. The food and drinks are always delicious and the staff is super friendly. They always have a rotating list of specials which we like to try and they never disappoint. Most recently we ordered only off the specials menu, mozzarella sticks appetizer, I got a clam dish with sausage and broccoli rabe, and my fiancé got a po boy sandwich that I believe had monkfish on it. My only note was that the clams were a little salty but overall still delicious and of course we will be back!!

The ambience is decent. I went on the recommendation of a neighbor. We went was seated immediately. We ordered our drinks and Asian Zing ribs as an appetizer. I ordered a cosmo and it was tolerable. I've had better at other establishments. The ribs looked great but tasted okay. I expected it to be a little sweeter. However, I ate some because I was quite hungry. Our waitress came back to our table and we ordered our dinner entrees. We ordered Fusilli alla Vodka and Tavern Parm. The Fusilli was dry and hardly and was prepared with hardly any pasta sauce. It was not flavorful. Pretty much bland. The Tavern Parm was not all that good. The chicken was bland and the noodles were okay. We were both disappointed. Our waitress did ask if we liked our entrees. We were honest about it and she asked if there was anything she can do for us. We declined and paid our bill. Overall, White Owl Tavern has decent decor and the waitstaff is nice. This Tavern may be a gem to others, but not for us.

The drinks are so good and beautiful. We tried a variety of appetizers and they were delicious. Our server was super friendly. The only bummer was the hostess chose to seat us by the cold door when other booths were available.

This place checks off all the boxes! Food is creative, delicious, different, and simply amazing! Menu so clever! So friendly, great vibe, upbeat. Cozy and comfortable! Drinks were FANTASTIC! Loved Jose! We will be back for sure!

I've been to White Owl twice already the first time was during their opening week and the food was delicious and fresh! We got the Tavern Hummus, Jersey Boy, Feta Salad with Salmon and the broken cannoli for dessert. Although their service was kind of slow (expected as it was their opening week) they gave us free dessert to make up for it! Highly recommend this awesome new spot in the area! The two drinks I got the Wise One and their Night Owl were absolutely PERFECT! The pictures speak for themselves! The second time I went for pasta and espresso martinis and everything was 10/10!! I'm not usually a spaghetti person (I usually for other pasta shapes) but the pesto spaghetti dish was absolutely incredible. I will definitely be back!

This place was incredible. From the outside, it didn't offer much to the imagination (or expectation) but once you enter, the what seems to be newly renovated establishment was really well done! A+ on the vibe. Drinks/cocktails were well done, so huge + there! The menu was impressive with it's eclectic dishes. It's a mix of diverse genres into a single piece of paper adding to any craving. Love me a creative ensemble of dishes. Highly recommend the WOT

We had the worst experience at this place! We were pleasantly surprised at how cool this place was when we walked in. The decor and vibe is so cool. We sat at the bar because we like to and we ordered some apps and dinner. Our app came and the food never came after an hour. We asked the bartender which was very knowledgeable and did seem very stressed out about our food. He admitted he forgot to put the order in for it. He promised they would prioritize our food. We decided to relax about it since it was date night and we Weren't in a rush. 30 minutes later food is coming out all around us but not ours. We ask the bartender again and he tells us that they are so busy and we still have a long wait. It was 1.5 hours since we originally ordered. We explained that we had to go pick up our daughter soon and he just kept saying I'm sorry it's going to be a while. It was just bizzare that he didn't tell kitchen to prioritize his mess up. Needless to say, we left at 9'pm starving and super disappointed. We understand mistakes happen but he didn't try to fix it and just kept saying sorry. Don't think we will come back here unfortunately.

First time here. New addition to Wharton. We sat at the bar. Ordered the WOT Lager. Very crisp and smooth. We shared a great romaine salad with sun dried tomatoes, croutons and a spicy dressing. I had the Birria tacos with pickled onions and beef dipping sauce. They were delicious. My partner had the cheesesteak sandwich with homemade cheese sauce and a side of fries. Very tasty. Especially the fries. Nice new restaurant. Parking could be an issue for them. We'll definitely be back. Lots of dishes on the menu to try.

Finally got to try this place and was very impressed. Both the food and cocktails were really good. The servers, bartenders, and owners are all super friendly. We had such a great time Friday night that we went back on Sunday. We've only done appetizers but am looking forward to trying their sandwiches and entrees. Their homemade blue cheese is fantastic! My only complaint is how noisy the place is. It was noisy when we arrived early and there weren't many people and it only got worse as the place filled up.

Good food that was reasonably priced. The bartender who took my order was very nice too. I'll be back again.

I had a great first visit to White Owl Tavern. It is a neat and casual bar that has great food options, solid drinks, and would be a good place to go for dates or a night out. I had a mango Sexy Ritas cocktail as a drink which was refreshing yet not overwhelmingly sweet. Other people in my party had different types of beer and they liked what they ordered. Hence, no complaints on that component of our dinner. The appetizers were undoubtedly sensational. You can easily make a great time out of drinks and appetizers in and of themselves. I never tried birria tacos before, but I am pleased I tried them at White Owl for the first time. It is a fantastic conceptual twist from a conventional taco; and I am surprised that places within the Morris County area haven't started adding crusty cheese to the outside of tacos. The mozzarella sticks, which I didn't eat, were well received by fellow diners. I also got to try part of a meatball and it was pretty good. Not the best I've had but is still solid if you want to travel down the Italian part of the menu. I ordered the Hot & Naughty (i.e., fried chicken sandwich) and it was very good. The chicken is not fried in the Southern soul food style, so it wasn't as crispy as those types of sandwiches; but the flavor of the chicken was great and it fit well with the other ingredients. I was a big fan of the avocado and the coleslaw, as well. I think some picked or some other acid would have been a welcoming addition, but there were no inherent issues with my order. The fries that came with it were some of the best I've ever had for being satisfyingly crispy, almost to the point of being crunchy. Loved that! One acquaintance ordered fish & chips, which was a miss. The fries were great, but the fish itself was soggy. That may have been due to timing issues in the kitchen, with the fish & chips being done much sooner than the other items. This was the only drawback we had with our experience. All things considered, I recommend White Owl Tavern for a casual dinner with great food, or a night out with good drinks and appetizers. There is limited space, but it's hard to pass on this spot. Looking forward to coming back!

Great new spot in Wharton. Gianna was a great friendly server. The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. Parking was not the best but we figured it out.The food was delicious.. we will definitely be back

we randomly came in here after atv riding in the poconos we saw good reviews on yelp and decided to stop in... super glad we did ...the owners are super awesome people genuine ,and very caring. the bar staff were also very friendly and knowledgeable started off with the apple cider mule which is ridiculously tasty. and very pretty. had the extremely delicious hummus for an app... and the jersey boy. i couldn't be happier even though i live about an hour up north the vibes and food were so good that ill definitely be back ... thank you guys for being so awesome

Interesting spot for sure. Overall the service was great, food was good, ambiance was great too. Pretty pricey for the neighborhood it is in, its high end Morristown tavern prices but the location is on a side street in Wharton across the street from ran down multi-family houses. After tip for a party of 6 the total was $540. For a small tavern in Wharton with bar food, this is crazy. The worst part might have been the parking, absolutely nowhere to park. It took 15+ mins to find parking and pretty sure where I parked was illegal. The other part we did not like was the constant wiffs of cigarette smoke. I am not sure if someone was smoking in the kitchen or outside the kitchen, but every 5 mins you would get hit with a puff of cigarette smoke. Individual food ratings: Chicken Parm- two of us got this. Good quality chicken, however the rigatoni was cold for both of us. Birria Nachos- solid Chicken dip- better than expected Birria Grilled Cheese- wife loved it Again, the service was good, cant remember the waitresses name unfortunately, but she was awesome. The actual rating is probably a 3.5 but I rounded up because of the waitress.

Relatively new spot in Wharton on a side street off the main drag. Once entered the room was bright and welcoming. Server greeted us quickly and was very friendly, polite and knowledgeable about the menu. A definite high point when going for our first visit. Appetizer was the mozzarella sticks with whipped ricotta. These were not your standard sticks, they were enormous and the whipped ricotta was a great addition. The fish and chips were fresh, flakey and utterly delicious. At one point the owner came over to chat and make sure everything was going well. Very nice touch as he gave some insight to his fish and chips recipe that was truly interesting. The short rib sandwich was amazingly tender and flavor full. Not dry or tough but melted like butter in your mouth. All in all an awesome experience, and since we are pretty local, will be making this wonderful restaurant a regular stop in the future. Great job White Owl !

Today was my first time to dine here and wow was I impressed! The interior of the building has been completely redone and looks great, the server and his service was awesome ! The food is diverse and terrific ! I had the caprese salad with homemade mozzerella I chose to add the shrimp which added a great touch and made it a wonderful filling lunch. My husband had the fish and chips which he loved he said lite and flaky fried Hugh price of fish and the fries with super crispy... he even had dessert which was a wonder crème brûlée which is his favorite ! My son had the Jersey boy crispy chicken sandwich which also had the fresh mozzerella on it on chubatta bread also with the crispy fries..... he loved it. 100% will go back!

Arrived at about 10 on a Saturday night in early December. Was surprised too learn that they were not serving food. A number of people were eating at the time. Struck us as kinda weird for a bar open until midnight.

The best food I have eaten in a long time. Very impressive and imaginative menu. The drink r great. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Each time I've eaten there I was never disappointed.

The food was typical bar food. The service was rushed--after one hour they told us they needed the table back in five minutes. The ambiance was appealing.

Delicious menu options, friendly service and warm ambience. As a local resident, I'm so happy this is only 5 minutes away. We've been here more than once and it never disappoints. They offer parking (maybe 6 spots) but there's lots of free street parking to choose from.

Love White Owl Tavern!! Have only been here twice so far but can't wait to continue going. The signature cocktails are well thought out, great taste, beautiful presentation. The food!!! Delicious have not been disappointed with anything in the menu so far. The smash burgers were so "melt in your mouth". A smaller place giving it such a cozy and inviting feel. HIGHLY recommend

First time at this restaurant. We went in for a cocktail and an appetizer just to check out the place. Drinks and appetizer were great! Gregg our bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant had a cozy vibe. Will definitely come back for dinner next time!

We had a wonderful meal and a great time at White Owl last night. The service was quick and attentive even though it was very busy. The cocktail selection was awesome and they were all so tasty. I already know I need to go back to try more of them. The specials menu had a lot of great options and we appreciate that everything was locally sourced. Definitely worth checking out.

Amazing food, fantastic staff and cool vibe. Great little find down a quiet, unassuming side street. We will be back many times for the fantastic food and service, but word to the wise, make a reservation and don't plan on having a quiet conversation, it's a little loud in there. But if I could give it six stars I would!

Meh. I had dinner for the first time at the White Owl Tavern (WOT) last night. We were seated at one of the high tops near the reception desk, This was a mistake. Theres a blinding WOT neon light on the wall behind reception and the high top tables have seats that face directly at that light. Highly recommended to sit at a booth or the bar. If you are one of the unfortunate souls to be seated facing that light, you should consider wearing sunglasses during your meal. We asked several times to turn the light off, but we were ignored by the staff. That's Strike One. Drinks. Our dining party all found something that we liked. The selection of draft beers is limited, but they have good variety and quality of beers. No problem there. Appetizers. We ordered the Misto Fritto for the table. We were not given a basket of bread and wanted a little something before our entrees. This appetizer was a small platter heaped with overly breaded and fried chunks of stuff. Half the time I couldn't tell what I was eating, but I knew it was caloric. I prefer lighter breading and a lighter frying and to be able to tell what I am eating. Strike Two. Entrees. This restaurant offers 10 different sandwiches and only 7 entrees, which are offered with lunch and dinner pricing, which made me think, "Is this primarily a lunch restaurant that also serves dinner?". But the bar is pretty nice and more fitting of a nice dinner tavern, so I was a little confused about what kind of place this is. Back to the entree menu. It was seriously disappointing. Seven entrees and four of them are pasta. You won't find a steak or any pork choices on this menu. What an awful shame. And there's only one chicken dish, and it's italian. Severely lacking variety. Strike Three. Luckily, I was in the mood for salmon last night and it was a winner. The salmon was a typical 6-7 ounce filet, nothing crazy, but it was big enough for my appetite (which was seriously dented by that heavily fried appetizer) and appropriately priced. The fish was delicious. grilled perfectly and tasted like butter. The dish was interesting because it didn't include a traditional carb like rice or risotto. Instead, it was on top of hummus! I had never seen this before and I had doubts about it, but it was awesome. I cannot neglect the other elements on the plate, roasted asparagus and arugula with a lemon vinaigrette, like you'd find on chicken milanese. It all worked together so well to my tastebuds. So good that I would take away one of the strikes. It makes me wonder what other gems might be hidden on this muddled menu. I won't be in a rush to return to the White Owl to find out but, if I do, I know that there's some beer I will like and my favorite salmon entree in town to enjoy.

Nice little place. Front door needs adjustment..could not get in!!!! Had to walk around back past those that were smoking and each time the door was opened you could smell the smoke from your table. Nice, clean remodel inside though sitting in a high backed booth was a bit sultry. The a/c needed adjusting as the crowd thickened. The salad was fresh, the meal was tasty..the berry crumble dessert was missing the "crumble". An easy fix..flour,sugar and butter! One of the drinks had minimal alcohol. Otherwise, good service and nice atmosphere.

Heard great reviews about the place. I thought the food was so so. No bread was served. The prices were high for what you got, eg a bowl of rigatoni for $21 and the wine prices were high. I decided to get two glasses of the house cab the carafes were miserly. All in all a disappointment.

Great new spot! My husband and I ordered the Fritto Misto, Hot Chicken sandwich, Birria tacos, Asian Zing and topped that off with the Browniemisu! They even have their own craft beer! Service was exceptional. The Chef and owner came out to check on us and tell us a little about themselves. The place is inviting and friendly. Will definitely be back!

I've eaten at the White Owl Tavern twice, and I loved it both times. I've had the umami grilled cheese, and also the hot and naughty chicken sandwich. Both were creative and excellent. There is a nice cocktail list and the service is efficient and friendly. I enjoyed both visits and definitely will be back.

Located where the old Wild Irish Rose used to be, this restaurant/bar has some over the top food. The Misto Fritto is calamari, baby scallops, and a few shrimp along with some cherry pepper slices. Everything was perfectly battered, seasoned and flash fried just right to be tender. The Umami Grilled Cheese was delicious and savory with the biria - the cheese crusted bread was a nice touch.. The Fusilli alla Vodka was great and a fun twist on the usual penne alla vodka. The fusilli pasta was well cooked in a fresh vodka sauce with a good amount of fried chicken chunks, some chopped cherry peppers and topped with a dollop of fresh ricotta cheese. The cocktails were well made and very tasty. Service was good and the chef came out to check on the food. The completely renovated interior is well done and more spacious than expected. Definitely give it a try,

The interior is nice and menu looked promising, and while the service was attentive, friendly, and accommodating, the portions and flavor for the price were disappointing to say the least. My $15 salad didn't come with a protein, which is fine, but when it fits in the palm of my hand, I question if it's truly and entree salad. The overpriced $12 kids burger had 2x as much food as my small serving of cucumber, tomato, arugula, and feta. I also ordered the birria tacos hoping for something close to my favorite food in Texas, and had it only been because of portion size, I could have been fine, but it was missing any bold flavor, probably due to the 1oz serving of meat. I'm not sure we'll go back. Lastly, this place is brand new-where is the owner/management? If I opened a new restaurant, I'd be circling every single table on a Friday night, asking how things were and seeking feedback. New restaurants need obsession in management/owners or they'll fail.
