"White Rice, award-winning chef Philip Esteban’s eatery in the trendy Liberty Public Market, serves up hearty bowls of Filipino Silog; garlicky rice and egg with various toppings that’s typically served at breakfast, but makes a great go-to meal any time of day. Standouts include Lechon Kawali made with crispy pork belly, pickled papaya, egg, garlic rice, and Mang Tomas sauce, vegan mushroom and tofu Sisig with wood ear mushroom, crispy tofu, boonie peppers, onions, pickled shallot with garlic fried rice, or try Filipino spaghetti with hot dog Bolognese over egg pasta with queso de bola and herbs. For each meal purchased, White Rice’s nonprofit, Open Gym, matches and donates to the San Diego Food Bank, Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center, A Reason to Survive in National City, Father Joe’s Villages and other local community organizations." - Mary Beth Abate

San Diego’s Best Filipino Restaurants - Eater San Diego

"Renowned Filipino-American chef Phillip Esteban’s project at Liberty Station — and now Normal Heights — offers a range of Filipino rice bowls. Head in early before popular items like lechon kawali (crispy pork belly) and tocino manok (grilled chicken) sell out for the day. Wash it all down with calamansi iced tea or ube milk tea. An added bonus: Open Gym, Esteban’s nonprofit, matches and donates the sale of every meal to those in need." - Darlene Horn, Paolo Bicchieri

Enjoyed the pancit gulay (vegan) noodles, a side of the longanisa sweet sausages, and the grilled chicken platter. Liberty Station restaurants often can have long waits at peak times, but we came a little after lunch rush on a weekday holiday and I think we waited around 10 mins or so for our food. I felt the portion sizes were fair, the food was fresh and tasted great. The staff were very friendly.

Google
1. waited 45 mins for ube pandesal (time based on receipt) followed up 3 times by 2 different people, asked to wait. on the 4th check - found out it wasn't done. and the staff offered cold pandesal - turns out they just have to heat it - which wasn't done despite asking multiple times within 45 mins 2. lechon kawali was not crispy 3. atsara was dry 4. grilled chicken was good. can recommend 5. calamansi iced tea was good 6. the rice wasn't amazing but it's good enough. not dry. 7. not a lot of seating. had to wait awhile despite being there 2pm-ish

I’m curious about this place for a long time and finally got to try it today! I ordered a Sisilog bowl, it has a lot of crispy pork belly in it. It is so delicious. The flavor is very delicious and you don’t feel the pork belly is too heavy. The white rice is perfect to eat with the pork belly. I highly highly recommend this dish to everyone, if you love fatty meat, you will enjoy this!

Google
I REALLY want to love this place. However, dry chicken and overcooked egg really tainted the otherwise tasty dish. I ordered the Tocino Manok (grilled chicken rice bowl), which comes with Spicy Binegar Sawsaw. The flavor of the dish was good, but the chicken and egg were both very overcooked. (See picture.) Customer service was nothing impressive, and they didn't give me the happy hour $2 discount. It took about 12 minutes to make my dish with one person in front of me. I'm not inspired to come back, but may give them another shot.

Google
I ordered the Sisilog with an extra egg. And a side of vinegar. (which I didn’t end up needing) this is the best Filipino dish I’ve ever had (don’t tell my wife 🤫). All the flavors where so balanced. The spice was great! (Might be a little spicy if your not into spicy but it was slightly hotter than you’re average hot sauce) good amount of vinegar. Such a good experience. I’m so happy. I rarely write reviews, but this is so good I couldn’t not. I’m going again for dinner before I fly out. (This was my first time so hopefully it’s consistent) best thing I’ve had in this food court by far!

Google
I love the vegan selections and the “filipinized” dishes that’s unique to this place! I wish we have more of this place that presents Filipino cuisine at its best! This is so good I want to try every single dish (except those with pork/beef protein — pollo/pescatarian here ) !

Levi

Google
Filipino here, I was excited to order the Tocino - all for supporting the business - but this isn’t tocino - it’s grilled chicken over rice, an egg, and some pickled veggies. I talked to the guy and he reiterated this is tocino - it’s not. I’m sure other dishes are good but it’s false advertising to call this anything close to Tocino.

Google
Liberty Public Market is a fun environment to grab a meal, with many options and White Rice is a great option within the space. The Sisilog was tasty, the crispiness of the pork and the vinegar of pickled vegetables pairing nicely with the garlic rice. The pork and the egg were slightly overcooked, but still great. Nice sized portions for a reasonable price. The Ube pandesal dinner rolls served with ube butter came out steaming hot, soft inside, just right browned on the outside. They were slightly sweet and the Ube butter was a great complement. The only improvement might be some sea salt flakes on the butter. The Ube cookies were delicious, the powdered sugar perfectly applied. The Calamansi Iced Tea was refreshing, with just the right amount of sweetness. Staff were friendly, ordered at the counter, took approximately 10-15 minutes for our orders to be ready at the counter. Several different options on the menu to accommodate vegetarians.

Yelp
This is a spot located in Liberty Station and it's a great spot for home cooked Filipino meals. We got the chicken adobo and the longanisa for breakfast. Both items were actually pretty salty... I've had these before and I don't remember it being this salty and heavily vinegar based. Either way. The food was pretty good. I think we got there a bit too early as they still needed time to open up shop before they were ready to take orders. Nonetheless they were respectful and were transparent that they'd need time to open up and also to cook the dishes. Since this is in liberty station, it can get pretty loud in here. The seating is also all shared among the other restaurants so finding a table can be tough. It's also near the air strip so if you eat outside expect it to be loud from the planes flying by. Overall, pretty good for a "taste of home" Filipino dish, but my only gripes are the pricing (it's on the pricier side), the saltiness (shout out to the vinegar) and the timing (Filipino time that we all know and love lol).

Yelp
While this location has potential, I was disappointed by a significant hygiene concern that affected my overall experience. During my visit, I observed that the same employees who were preparing food were also handling transactions at the cash register--without changing their gloves in between tasks. At no point during my wait did I see staff change gloves after touching the touchscreen register, which is frequently used by multiple customers. This lack of glove changing raises serious concerns about cross-contamination and food safety. Touching potentially germ-laden surfaces and then immediately handling food poses a clear sanitary risk. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and implements proper food-handling protocols. With improved hygiene practices, this establishment could offer a much better--and safer--dining experience.

Yelp
I having lunch right now.. I ordered Sisig with rice the guy ask me if I want anything else.. I said soda..The food take 30min..I nod.. After about 30min ..my number was called I asked for the soda after he gave me my food..He said you didn't order a soda.. I look as the receipt and he forgot to ring my soda..I said ok.. I made a comment "you busy ha? He smugly said NO..it's not that busy.. We're handling it..I smile and thought to My self..Your food taking 30min and there only 2 of you..and it look like you wanna strangle someone for not coming to work..anyhow..the sisig was good.. I enjoy it a lot Smile..

Yelp
Very decent. A++ for the Lumpia. Tastes like a family recipie. Nice length and consistency, perfectly fried (though I like it a bit more crispy). Area of improvement may be the Sisig. The pork to rice ratio was nice, but there was a missing element. It needed a bit more fat or some binding agent. Wife and I split these two during the work week and it was a more than perfect amount for the both of us.

Yelp
3.5/5 overall. Pros: I really appreciate the White Rice stall at Liberty Public Market, and all their locations are consistent with their options. It's conveniently located in front of tables to enjoy your food, and the stall decorations highlight and introduce Filipino food and culture. Cons: inconsistency. Online, the location says they're open at 10AM on weekends, but i've noticed on 3 different weekends they've opened at 11am instead. A lot of people order online for pickup, and we waited over 40 minutes for an in-person order of two bowls, due of the influx of online orders. The bowl we received had more of a burnt egg than fried, as pictured.

Yelp
I craved for Filipino food and my husband took us here because of their Ube pandesal. Bread was freshly baked, loved the spread that came with it! Lechon kawali and lumpiang shanghai was also tasty and cripsy. The sisig lacked flavor though it's my fave dish. It taste way far from the legit sisig which is kinda understandable to.

Shahani O.

Yelp
Idk man. I was so excited to see this at the Liberty Station. I've only had their food once and it was great! I had the lechon kawali. BUT BUT BUT every time I came to the counter to order, no one would come to the counter. I felt like a ghost. Like, they'll look my way but not acknowledge me. It happened multiple times! It was not a very welcoming experience. Would I come back? Not sure.
google avatar

Yelp
Visited the Liberty Public Market location and the service was friendly and fairly quick. We ordered the Lumpia Gulay and they didn't have enough, so they were kind enough to give us some Lumpia Shanghai free of charge. The Uber Pandesal was nice and I really liked the Ube butter spread on top. For my main I got the Lechon Kawaii which is pork belly over a bed of rice. The dipping sauce it came with added some flavor but I enjoyed the dish more without it. With the exception of one piece, most of the pork belly pieces were nicely crispy and moist. They were really nicely seasoned and very filling. The garlic rice was also a nice flavor boost to the overall dish.

Yelp
Love seeing Filipino food vendors! We were waiting for them to open up so once they did I stood there at the register. There was a guy and a girl working and neither of them even looked at me. They were definitely open already based on the time but didn't even bother to say anything at all. I waited an awkward amount of time and finally asked "are you open?" And he responded yes as if I was the one bothering them. So strange and really off-putting, kinda didn't even want to buy anything from them at that point but I knew my kids would really like the pandesal. I was hoping for sisig but didn't see any on the menu so just ended up getting the pandesal and lumpia shanghai for the kids. It kinda took a crazy amount of time just for those 2 things considering I was the first customer. I didn't even hear them call out my number or name and just happened to see it sitting on the counter. But they both came out fresh at least. The bread was really fluffy with a toasted exterior and I liked the whipped ube butter with it. The lumpia was nice and crispy but nothing super unique about the flavor or presentation. I'd round up to 3.5 for the pandesal but otherwise probably wouldn't go out of my way to return based on my first experience.

Yelp
Glad to find Filipino food within Liberty Station. Pros: -casual environment. You order at the cash register, pick up your order, and you can either dine inside or outdoors. -their lechon was nice and crispy -good size portions! Cons: -n/a

Yelp
FUXS GIVEN = 4.0 ******************* Food = 4 I can't say it's the best Filipino food I've ever had but it's still fucking delicious. I went with the pork adobo and Shanghai lumpia UX = 3 Order at the counter style in a bigger food market. The whole market was dead but White Rice had good vibes. Service = 5 Server and chef were top notch. Great quick service.

Yelp
If you want Filipino Modern/Fusion, the flavors here are pretty good. I thought prices were high for Filipino food considering San Diego has a large Filipino population/businesses. The raw onion was a bit overwhelming for me in the Sisig (and I normally love raw onions), but I liked the garlicky flavors and the perfectly cooked egg. Service was great though!

Yelp
Moving to SD I was recommended a few spots, this was a common talk of the town. AMBIANCE: Parking: Liberty Station! There's parking and there's not parking. It really depends on the day, time, and if there are events but for the most part there's good street, meter, and plaza parking. Seating: It's very community space so find a standing table or eat outside and enjoy! Vibes: Liberty Station is a signature place to visit if you're in San Diego from the food, activities, or community! Whether you're in the mood to socialize, study, or dine, this is your spot. It's in a marketplace so you'll see a lot choices. The restaurant is relatively simple with your counters and screen-menu. There's some decor paying homage to Filipino culture, which feels welcoming and comforting as a Filipino. Great place for a grab and go FOOD: Sweet Pork Sausage Silog (Recommend) Delicious! Their longanisa (sweet pork sausage) was enjoyable - soft, lightly charred, mildly spiced and sweet. This is usually embraced for breakfast but appreciated all day long. The green onions gave it a good kick and the pickled veggies (atchara). The rice was well cooked - not too soft and hard with a good amount of garlic. The egg gave it a nice savory umami touch. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! I had a gift card and they had some issues but they resolved it. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Excellent! Simple choices, good prices, and a pleasant experience! As a Filipino it's timely to make these dishes so it's great they're able to make these bowls presentable and great comforting flavor. Thank you, Chef Phillip Esteban and team. I wish you all the best! #FilipinoFoodMovement TIPS: * Silog means garlic rice and egg!

Yelp
First time seeing this place at the Liberty Market at Liberty Station. Perused the menu and wanted to purchase the Ube Pandesal. However they were sold out already!!! Oh well next time. I ended up just getting the Calamansi beverage!! YUMMMMMMMM I so enjoyed it!!! I will be back again in hopes to get a taste of ube pandesal.

Yelp
My husband and I have always enjoyed white rice. Unfortunately we had a not so great experience this past Sunday. We always get the chopped pork belly and chicken bowls. This time my husbands bowl was missing an egg and the bowl was just messy. By the time he noticed this we were already gone and I tried calling to talk to someone but I don't think this location has a phone. It's a let down for sure, especially when an extra egg is +$3 and we didn't even get the one that comes with the bowl.

Yelp
I'm in town on vacation and was craving some god old fashion filipino food. The longganisa was cooked perfectly--I love a good sear on them! The garlic fried rice was also cooked super well with a great garlic and pepper balance. I've never made or had the longganisa topped with fried garlic and it was a game changer. The lumpia Shanghai we're also freshly fried and crispy. Perfect flavor, always balanced with the mae ploy. The service was fast and only took about ten minutes or so to cook. There was no line so it was quickly done, and they take Apple Pay which was so convenient after I forgot my wallet at home!

Erin-Hannah E.

Yelp
I've been here and the other locations multiple times. At the beginning, it was amazing, especially seeing a new Filipino place. However, over time the consistency has gone downhill. As a Filipino, it is disappointing to see them change the traditional names like "Sisig" to "chopped pork bowl." It is like we are being colonized through our food. Today I ordered an item I've never seen, the Kare Kare. It is not traditional or anything that I expected it to be. The peanut taste was nonexistent and it lacked that sweet and salty sauce expected in Kare Kare. It was good, but not what I wanted by any means. It was more of just beef and eggplant in an unknown sauce. When I asked the employee for bagaoong, they looked at me like I was crazy. Sad to see it like this. Probably won't come back again.

Yelp
I miss this place. I've had this dish 4-5 times and only one of the times it was overcooked. The other times it was perfect. Crispy outer skin and juicy and tender in the inside . Ube pandesal here is also AMAZING with the Ube butter. Should've taken a pic of that too. I'll go back here fasho.
google avatar

Nathan B.

Yelp
White Rice is a place that serves good food, but if you're looking for Filipino food, isn't the place. The wait times are bad. The ube drink is great though. I had adobo that didn't even taste like adobo with "green onions " that were cilantro. Overall bad

Yelp
This location is located inside a food court area with many other stalls. Parking can be very hard. The stall wasn't that busy and food was made in about 15min. 6/10 Lechon Kawaii $15 - very basic dish that came with 3 pieces of roasted pork and a fried egg over a bunch of rice and a bit of veggies. Pork was pretty plain and you only get 3 small pieces. Pictures all show around 5 but definitely not the case. Egg was fine and sauce that comes with it pairs really well with the rice. For $15 this is insanely overpriced so I do not reccomend. 5/10 Ube Pandesal $9/3pc - The bread itself is just Hawaiian bread with very little flavor. The ube is nonexistent so it seems like just food coloring. At it was soft and airy pillow bread. They also did not mention that they ran out of the ube cream that comes with the bread so this was absolutely trash without the cream. I had to go another one of their other locations to get the cream for the bread. I do not recommend getting the bread unless they have the ube cream in stock. 10/10 Ube Cream - consistency between whip cream and butter. It was sweet but with the bread is just perfect. Melts really well when the bread is hot. Ube flavor is strong.
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
My opinion is that if you're going to charge the equivalent of what it would cost to purchase the ingredients to make a quantity of 5 to 7 meals then the expectation needs to be set. Cleanliness seems to be an issue at this place As well as the lack of authenticity, not to mention the expectation to provide a gratuity for less than desirable service. This place is still young, but with hopefully with some constructive criticism it can and just might evolve.

Yelp
Got lunch here in Liberty Island, San Diego. We got Spaghetti and Tocino with rice. Foods are tasty and freshly prepared. Service was decent. The place is very clean and trendy. Love the displays and atmosphere of the store. Lots of parking spaces outside.
google avatar

Daryl D.

Yelp
We came here Easter and had the Lechon kawali. The pork was small and very hard. The rice was also hard and had very little garlic flavor. I didn't know it doesn't come with egg anymore. The picture on the menu shows the egg and what a disappointment. This place used to be my go to spot when in the area but not anymore. The only thing good was the sauce.
google avatar

Michele T.

Yelp
Had to return for the ube pandesal - still yummy with that ube butter. Also ordered the grilled chicken silog, longanisa silog, and the chopped pork belly silog. Portion sizes were good. Enjoyed the pork belly with the onions on top - perfect combo with the egg and garlic rice. Kiddo enjoyed the grilled chicken and hubs enjoyed the longanisa.
google avatar

Isaac H.

Yelp
10/10 would recommend!! It was my first time to this part of Liberty Station and as soon as I saw this Filipino restaurant, I knew this was the one!! Great selection to pick from, I went with the pork adobo bowl. Good portion sizing, not too much and not too little. The pork was cooked perfectly and was super easy to bite into. Never doubt the flavor here ever!
google avatar

Rowen H.

Yelp
Located within a nice eatery, this Filipino place def stood out to me. It's not cause I'm Filipino (it probably is) but something about their nice little decor outside caught my eye. The longanisa was so good. It had a nice char to it and very juicy. I loved the presentation of the bowl and everything about it.

Yelp
Came here on a whim while going through San Diego. Its been a while since I had Filipino food, and the pictures on the menu looked good. I decided to order this to go since I wanted to bring it to the beach with my dog. After browsing the menu, I decided to go with the Lechon Kawali which is crispy pork belly, atchara pickles, an over easy fried egg, and garlic rice. After getting my order I went to the dog beach to dig in. The pork belly was simultaneously crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was crispy enough for the texture but also soft enough to melt in the mouth. The garlic rice was my second favorite part as it was infused nicely throughout. The pickles gave it a nice sour flavor. It also comes with a mang tomas sauce to give it a little more kick of spice. Overall, it was delicious and i would order it again. A few years ago the dish was $14, but now its around $16, so prices have gone up. Though not as good of a value, its still worth getting.
google avatar

Milchy W.

Yelp
We went here but there was no pork belly or calamansi juice. Left with pork sisig. it was yummy but dont expect youll get what you want on the menu. was here at 4pm on a friday but i guess they ran out of pork.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Oh my lord, I love everything Ube. I got an order of the ube bread and ube cookies. The bread and butter are to die for. You can see them making the ube butter right in front of your very eyes. Be prepared for the warm, soft bread and incredible butter. Pretty sure you can just get the butter on it's own. The cookies are very good, and they come pre-packaged. The're good, but I think they could be better if warmed up before eating.
google avatar

Maricel O.

Yelp
Overpriced. Garlic sauce was way too salty and bitter. It looks like the cook did not even taste what they were making and serving.
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
The food is super good. But I struggled with a long wait time and it was a little difficult finding the slot inside. The prices are a little high, but the staff is super helpful in recommendations.

Yelp
I was really really excited to try White Rice inside LPM. First, you know my absolute fave and go to is Asian food... gimmeee all the rice!!! Got there pretty early, before the lunch rush, around 11ish. The girl at the register was nice. I asked her between the lechon kawalii or the sisilog, which one would she recommend? I love pork belly, but sisig will always be my fave! She stated both are good but the sisilog was more flavorful... and so that is what I ordered. The dish came out in about 15 min and I was really excited to dig in. First, it was a hefty bowl, full to the top and was a great amount of food! The fried egg on top was perfect and who doesn't love a fried egg right? But the rest, I'm so sad and disappointed to say I didn't like it. The pork belly was good and crunchy and there was a good amount, but the taste just wasn't there. When I have sisig, I love the vinegar/acidic/citrus taste... the yummy contrast of the onions and chopped up herbs like green onions and cilantro against the fatty and meatiness of the pork. I didn't get that at all. It was rather bland. Not much taste at all. Also, the white rice (unsure if I was supposed to have gotten garlic rice or not) was still hard. I really wanted to like this and sadly, I just didn't. For $16, I felt like my dish should've been delicious and I would want to come back for more. Bummed out, but hey, at least I tried it and I know it's just not my fave.

Daniel R.

Yelp
Quite disappointed with the last couple visits. Notable drop-off from when they first started. Less food with prices going up. Still typically a long wait for your food especially on weekends. Sisig was drenched with their sauce/seasoning (not in a good way, perhaps rushed). Lechon kawali mainly consisted of pure fat pieces, with some that actually contained meat being over-cooked. For the price and portion size, you can get a bigger meal at other Filipino places.
google avatar

Eileen D.

Yelp
I had high hopes for White Rice after seeing good reviews on Yelp and other social media but unfortunately, it was overwhelmingly average. I ordered the Lechon Kawali bowl and although the lechon was pretty good, I don't think the high price was worth the small portion size. Like 3 pieces only?? I also tried ordering the Ube Pandesal but they ran out which was a huge bummer. Service was just ok... the cashier didn't seem like he wanted to be there and wasn't the friendliest. My verdict is pass on White Rice because you can get Filipino food elsewhere in San Diego for better prices and bigger portions.

Becky L.

Yelp
Pretty bad. Had the short rib with long beans and eggplant. Sauce was bland. Came with three pounds of rice and fatty, mostly inedible meat and a few pieces of eggplant and bean.
google avatar

Elaine G.

Yelp
It is located in a food hall, Liberty Public Market. They offer filipino dishes with a modern twist. I wanted to try the Sisilog or the Lechon Kawali Silog, however they were out of pork belly :( I got their Ube Pandesal and their Ube Milk Tea. Ube Pandesal - Warm, soft, delicious bread rolls. The whipped ube better that came with it made it even better! Def recommend it! Ube Milk Tea - Strong ube flavor, however it was a little too sweet for me.
google avatar

Tikku G.

Yelp
My wife got the Tocino Manok bowl from White Rice which was loaded with grilled chicken, pickled shallots, a sunny side egg and garlic rice. The chicken was seasoned so well and had a really tasty garlic, tangy flavor. The pickled shallots and runny egg paired well with the perfectly cooked rice. I probably ate about half of her bowl! While the bowl was excellent, the Ube Pandesal is a MUST try. It is a Filipino roll made with ube and there is a paired ube butter to enjoy with it. It reminded me of purple Hawaiian rolls but even better. Definitely can't wait to go back and try the other bowls on the menu!

Yelp
Quick service. Ordered lumpia Shanghai with calamansi iced tea. Both were very good. Love the decor and ambiance

Yelp
White Rice is not your standard Filipino restaurant. It has a more elevated style to it. I say that for reasons such as the food presentation is better than any Filipino market-styled restaurant (like Erlinda's or Pinoy Food Market), it is priced higher than said market-style restaurants, and it is located at a hip place like Liberty Public Market. The food is always consistent when I go. I will say, you must order the lechon kawali and longanisa. The lechon kawali has that crispy skin and juicy, tender meat, which is what you want from such a dish. The sauce it comes with is savory and sweet, at the same time, and completes the dish (along with the egg). As for the longanisa, it is a staple breakfast item at any Filipino household -- add the cilantro, carrots, egg and garlic rice that White Rice has to offer and you have another winning meal. I still need to try the ube pandesal! Fun fact: the chef/creator behind White Rice, Phillip Esteban, was previously on Food Network's "Chopped" ...and won!
google avatar

Matthew D.

Yelp
Must try Filipino food spot in SD! Elevated ingredients and recipes that make Filipino cuisine palatable for a broader audience! Truly enjoy the sisig and the Ube Pandesal! Eat indoors at the Liberty Market location because you'll be fighting the Airplane jets every 8 mins. Great job White Rice! Let's see some more BBQ POP UPS!

It's so nice to have quality Filipino food available at one of SD's most iconic spots. I love this spot and my absolute favorite item is their ube pandesal with the ube butter that comes with it (chef's kiss!!), but I also really enjoy their sisilog + calamansi iced tea. My partner is new to trying different kinds of Filipino dishes and loved their sisilog as well, rating it a 10/10 and calling it the perfect mix of crispy/spicy/sour. Raised in San Diego, I know there's lots of great Filipino businesses in town and that's why it's so exciting to see a newer Filipino restaurant on the scene offering refreshing concepts without compromising any of the quality I love to have when I'm back home. I no longer live in SD but I love to come back around to this business and hope to continue enjoying meals here for years to come.

Yelp
White Rice is one of the many delicious options at the Liberty Public Market offering variety of dishes most notably their silogs. My son chose the longsilog, as it comes with longaniza, atchara, egg, and garlic rice. Very decent portion and well presented (no pic, my son annihilated it before I got back to the table lol). Of course, vinegar is optional :) c'mon longaniza and garlic burps are crucial! Ahahaha! So ono! We'll be back for sure! Salamat po, White Rice.

Yelp
White Rice is one of the food places in Liberty Public Market. I was in LPM to do a Yelp Elite perk at Kebab Craft. I also checked out Bao Bar. The pricing lately are off the charts for all places but I wanted some pork sisig for lunch along with my pita sandwich. On the counter I saw some ube cookies that I love and got those too. This spot is popular with lots of Filipino dishes in the right amount for newbies. They also have one of my favorite desserts - Taho in two flavors (skimmed tofu). Overall I have visited both sites now, one in Liberty Public Market in Pt Loma and the one in North park. The LPM location seems busier ( lunch time) but if you're patient, you can order and walk around and return to pick up your order. Food was great and always reliably good.

Yelp
I've been seeing White Rice on social media for a while and have been wanting to try it so when we hit up Liberty Public Market, I was excited to see them as a vendor. White Rice is in the corner, in front of an Empanada spot and table seating in front of it. They have a small menu but a good variety of choices. I tried the Lechon Kawali Silog and ube pandesal. Lechon was good, a little bit over cooked so it was more on the drier side. I'm not a fan of Mang Tomas sauce with Lechon, and would rather have banana ketchup, but the garlic rice and vegetables paired really well. The ube pandesal is a must try! The pandesal itself, didn't really taste like ube, but it was fresh and soft, thay it was fine by itself. The ube butter though??? SO GOOOD. I'll definitely be back, I'd like to try more dishes!

Yelp
The food was delicious!! I had the Lechon kawali w/ fried egg and it hit all the marks. Crispy crunch on the outside and silky creamy inside. Great flavors all around. The garlic rice and man tomas sauce was just perfect! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
While in San Diego, this place was recommended when I mentioned a trip to Liberty Public Market. I ordered mushroom & tofu sisig. It had wood ear mushroom, crispy tofu, boonie peppers, onions, pickled shallot with garlic fried rice. The plan was to eat some of it and save the rest for later. Well, that didn't happen. It was so good and hot. The garlic fried rice was everything! The crispy tofu made it all the better. Many people do not like wood ear mushrooms, but I love them. The texture enhances the flavor for me. Quick and friendly service will leave you happy and full!

Yelp
Amazing food, terrible service. You can be waiting for a long time for food here. They are always understaffed and usually out of most of their good stuff.

Yelp
Food: 4.25 out of 5 My partner and I ordered the Ube Pan de Sal and the Lechón Kawali meal. Loved them both. The bread was warm and fluffy. The ube flavor was present and they even provided an ube butter if you wanted more ube flavor. The Lechón Kawali was spot on! The rice was flavorful, pickling to balance the rich flavor of the pork belly, and last but not least the pork belly was cooked to perfection, crispy rind and juicy meat. Environment: 5 out of 5 Loved the vibes of this place. Staying true to their roots while showcasing the best of Filipino food. Service: 5 out of 5 Overall: 4.75 out of 5 Let these folks show you how delicious Filipino food is! Flavors are spot on and presentation is there for those looking for Instagram likes. For me, I loved that I paid a fair price for great portions. Without a doubt they can execute! Can't wait to see what y'all add next to the menu when I return to SD.

Yelp
I always get the Grilled Chicken. It is delicious and unique how they prepare it with over easy egg, garlic rice and pickles veggies. It goes so well with the vinegar. The Lumpia and the Calamansi drink are a bonus to me. It's definitely a treat whenever I go there. A must try for sure!
