White Rice - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"A popular Filipino spot from San Diego, White Rice specializes in silog: garlicky rice bowls topped with various meats and a fried egg. Their first LA location is inside Montebello’s BLVD Market where you walk up to a shipping container to order a rice bowl topped with longanisa, chopped pork belly, mushroom-tofu, plus other options. You’ll also find pancit with calamansi tamari, ube milk tea, and crispy pork and shrimp lumpia. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Nestled in the small food hall BLVD MKT in Montebello, is the one and only Filipino spot area the area. I finally have a Filipino spot near my work that I can go to for lunch and it's actually good! Parking - street parking or the lot across the street Food - So far I've tried the adobo chicken and crispy pork belly (lechon kawali). I do like both, but I really like their lechon kawali more. Adobo is one of those things that if you've had it at home growing up, you're probably partial to the way you're used to having it. But the selections aren't bad and the portions are pretty decent! Service - No complaints with service. They're friendly, they're helpful. Working my way to trying their entire menu.

We decided to try this place for a quick bite for lunch. Unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations as the food was just okay, especially for the price. We ordered a crispy pork belly bowl, a Sisig bowl, one order of lumpia, an order of ube pandesal and two drinks and our bill was $70. We are glad we tried it as my wife was looking forward to it, but the flavors we expected, were not there.

I finally got to try White Rice in Montebello, and wow, this spot did not disappoint! Their rice bowls are next level—perfectly cooked rice with bold flavors and generous portions. I ordered the Tocino Manok and the Sisilog, and both were packed with deliciousness. The Tocino Manok had that perfect balance of sweet and savory, with juicy, well-marinated chicken that paired beautifully with the garlic rice and egg. The Sisilog was just as amazing—the crispy, flavorful sisig with that runny egg on top made every bite addicting. And I have to mention the Ube Pandesal—absolutely bomb. Soft, slightly sweet, and filled with rich ube goodness. It was the perfect way to round out the meal. If you're craving Filipino comfort food done right, White Rice is the spot. Will definitely be coming back to try more!

Google
Disappointed that they took off the happy hours discount. Updated menu with prices listed in this review. We got the chicken adobo 3/5 and sisilog 4/5. Both were tasty but nothing special. We got lumpia shangai, it was OK, came with sweet n sour sauce. The ube pandesal did not meet our expectations. It was bland by itself, the ube flavor came from the whipped ube butter separate from the pandesal. Ube milk tea not too sweet so thats good. Mainly filling food. Would come back no. $60 for all these, not worth overall. As a Filipino ourselves, home cooked food is better and cheaper 🥲 gave it a try but not returning sorry.

Google
Saw this Filipino restaurant featured on social media and was excited to try. Tried to lechon kawali (crispy pork belly) bowl, lumpia shanghai (eggrolls), ube pandesal, and ube drink. All were delicious and a nice portion! Happy to support and will be back!

Google
White Rice is the newest addition to the amazing food hall in downtown montebello. BLVD MRKT. Hailing from San Diego, the owners decided to spread their Filipino restaurant concept to the eastside of LA and I for one am EXTREMELY THANKFUL! The food is absolutely phenomenal and the service is A+ always! The energy they bring to the community is one i absolutely love, just hard working and focused on delivering the best food and experience for the community. I highly recommend the Longanisa, the chicken bowl and the ube bread with ube butter. Man o man I dream about this food! Welcome to Montebello guys!

If you’re craving authentic Filipino food with a modern twist, look no further. Chef Prince is putting his signature stamp on the classics, and the results are nothing short of spectacular. I had the lechon—perfectly crispy skin with juicy, flavorful meat that melts in your mouth. The ube bread was a revelation: soft, lightly sweet, and absolutely addictive. And the lumpia? Easily some of the best I’ve ever had—crispy, savory, and packed with flavor in every bite. Chef Prince clearly respects tradition but isn’t afraid to elevate it. The passion and creativity come through in every dish. This place is more than just a meal—it’s an experience. A must-try for anyone who loves great food.

Yelp
Always wanted to go to the Blvd food court here in Montebello since it opened but never had a chance, but as luck would have it my wife needed something from one of the stores near by so today is the day! I haven't had Filipino food since I used to live in Glendale and the fact they had a one here was awesome. I ordered the Chicken Adobo and Shanghai Lumpia... Filipino staple...so if you screw this up you know the rest of the food is not great. Luckily it was great!!! I finished it in 10 mins and probably come here again this weekend to try the other stuff on the menu. Remember to shop and eat locally and support small businesses around in your community.

Yelp
I love to support Filipino places. However, I was craving for their ube pandesal, which I shared with my friends. They were so good that I regretted sharing them. LOL It was freshly baked and made me want more. I didn't have the chance to order anything else, but next time I'm in town, I'll definitely try the other dishes.

Yelp
Tried White Rice in Montebello for the first time and overall had a great experience! I ordered the sweet pork sausage with rice and pickled veggies-- it was really tasty. The sausage had a great balance of flavor, and the pickled veggies added a nice tangy crunch. The portion of rice was generous-maybe a bit too generous for my taste, as I would've preferred a little less to better balance the dish. I also got the lumpia, which had great flavor, but they arrived a bit soft due to delivery. I'm sure they'd be perfect if eaten fresh at the restaurant.

Yelp
Located in the corner Whittier and 6th street is the food hall place and white rice was one of the stalls outside. We were able to find parking right in front the place on a Friday afternoon. My friend recommended that I try their ube pandesal, so we ordered that and 2 drinks (calamansi and ube drink) The ube pandesal was good, 3.9/5- the whipped ube was a good touch, and the bread itself was buttery but I'm just looking for something more. Calamansi drink- 5/5 perfect for hot summer day, refreshing and light Ube drink was also ok! Service was also good, I'll be back to try their rice bowls

Yelp
The ube pandesal is the first thing i order cause they're amazing. Not too sweet and ube butter with is delicious. I also got the lechon kawali - bomb flavor comes with runny egg and garlic chip fried rice, finished w calamansi tea (needed extra water to bring out calamansi)

Yelp
Decided to stop by since we were in the area. There is parking in the back and street parking in the front. The place has many tables and benches. The vibes were relaxing and a good place to just eat and catch up with friends or family Ube pandesal was so good with the whipped ube better! Ube milk tea was sweet but not too sweet. My favorite was the Calamansi Iced Tea! 10/10 Workers were friendly and service was quick! Would come back again!

Yelp
A must stop in Montebello! I loved everything from the trendy location, the container restaurant concept, the fresh ingredients, the explosion of flavors, and the welcoming staff! I tried the sisig-log, calamansi drink, and the ube pan de sal. Everything was so tasty! The crispy sisig was really elevated by the in house sauce they make. Delicious! The calamansi drink was the perfect citrus pairing to such a hearty meal. I am so glad I didn't skip on the ube pandesal with ube halaya butter spread, drooooool. I took a couple home and toasted them and it was a second meal on its own! My only regret is not getting some lumpia to go! They really presented Filipino food in a way that's more appealing for people who've never tried it before. Their modern twist to a comfort food that Filipinos grew up enjoying is a must try for everyone! White rice topped with our staple culture favorites that are both heart and belly warming is a win-win! Way to show up guys! Can't wait to try more!

Yelp
I wanted to like this place but it was just okay to me. Prices aren't like cheap and the portions are quite small. These are my thoughts on the food. Lechon Kawali - The meat had a bit weird texture and for some reason was semi gamey. It was crispy though so that was nice but otherwise I thought it was kind of a let down. Garlic rice was more like white rice with pieces of garlic on top. (2/5) Longganisa - I liked this dish a lot better than the Lechon. It's pretty basic but it tasted good. Egg was perfectly cooked but garlic rice was hardly garlic flavored IMO. (3.5/5) Ube Pandesal - Alright this was a hit. Was like ube bread with a side of ube butter. It was delicious, I recommend getting. (4.5/5) Overall maybe I came on an off day because the food wasn't bad but neither was it very exciting. It almost tasted like food I could make at home, I wasn't wow'd in anyway. In total we spent about $36 and left moderately full. Anyways it's located in a cool spot but I've had better Filipino food elsewhere.

Yelp
THE BAD: ordered Sisig and pork belly bowls . The Sisig lacks heat and acidity , flavor overall was meh . The pork belly was very tough and the skin was rubbery . Seems like they skipped the most important step of making good lechon kawali which is to braise the belly first in aromatics to soften and render the fat before crisping it up . It tasted like it went straight to the deep fryer or roaster . No flavor as well . You're better off going to the hot deli counter at seafood city for Lechon kawali or head over to Kuya Lord. Probably the most disappointing lechon kawali I've had in the USA. THE GOOD: the eggs were perfectly cooked with both orders .

Yelp
It's my first time coming here and DAMM I came twice and both of the days I came they were not open today is September 4th, 2025 and it's 1:54 pm and it's not open I saw the time on here and it says it's open from 11 am -8 pm and it's not open

Yelp
White rice is the absolute truth. Swung by for takeout before the Thanksgiving holiday and had the pleasure with chatting with a couple of the creators. Really cool guys that are whipping up some delicious Filipino food! My family and I ordered the Mushroom + Tofu Sisig, Sweet Pork Sausage, and Crispy Pork Belly and all were FLAME. White Rice went 3 for 3, 10/10. And then we also got to try the Ube Pandesal!!! These pandesals were probably the closest to what I had in the Philippines out here in SoCal. Paired with this fire whipped ube butter that was next-level delicious. I'd eat these anytime of the day. RICE BOWLS FOR ALL!

Yelp
Nice addition to see Filipino cuisine at BLVD Market ! Came on a Sunday , good DJ music set up, outdoor patio seating, enjoyed some sun! Good ambiance to bring your family. Don't skip on the ube pandesal! They can sell out , so soft, tasty! Comes with ube butter on the side, lightly sweet , perfect! The calamansi iced tea is refreshing, not too sweet, not tart. Of course I had to order the eggrolls, reminds me of my auntie's family parties. Last but not least, loved the crispy pork belly bowl. They make the mang Tomas sauce in house , lechon kawali is spot on, tender with the crunchy skin, pleasing taste combo with the atchara veggies, the way mom makes at home! Also got to sneak in a pic with chef and co owner ! Love this place!

Yelp
Was very excited to try a new place in town. Like most of the yelp reviewers stated, its nice to see new places opening especially Filipino food because there aren't much Asian food around Montebello. I'm Chinese myself and work in Montebello so it is nice to have some Asian cuisine near my area instead of making the drive to San Gabriel Valley area for lunch. I wanted to pre order ahead but the website was not working and was not able to place an order online. Got there around 12:05pm and there was already people who had already ordered. I stood there for couple of minutes before someone told me they will be with me in a few. I asked how long the wait was going to be and luckily they said it will be about 15 min wait. I ordered the crispy pork belly bowl rice. Came with 4 pieces of pork belly. It was ok. The skin was crispy at first but when it gets cold, the skin will be chewy. No favor to it but the sauce they gave it really complimented the meat. However, the rice was not garlic rice. Some parts of the rice was still raw. I'm guessing it is just plain white rice? Got a side of Lumpia Shanghai egg rolls. These was crispy and good. The sauce was very tasty and goes perfect with the eggrolls! To drink I got the Calamansi iced tea. It was refreshing at first but it got sweet towards the middle. I would recommend it but maybe I would add some more iced or water to it to make it less sweet next time for me. Overall, it was ok. Food was not bad. I would give it a 2nd chance to see how I really feel. I do want to try other rice bowls and ube pandesal bread next time.

Yelp
I ordered the Longanisa bowl to-go, and it was pretty tasty! It didn't WOW me, but I also wasn't disappointed. The service was really nice. The guy taking my order was friendly and warm. This place is situated in an outdoor food market hall, with lots of tables and seating in the general area. There are other eateries surrounding this place.

Yelp
Food (4/5): Food that reminds me of my childhood! I love to see my people expanding more around the area! The lechon pieces were crunchy with a slight fatty-ness. The portion size was enough to calm my hunger but I still had room for a dessert. My critique is that it needed some more salt of something more prominent that was vinegar-y to balance out the dense flavors. Price (3/5): About $18 for a bowl. I docked points because of portion size and taste. Ambiance (5/5): We didn't have a hard time finding parking, but if you have time a hard time finding it, it's in the plaza shared with a handful of other restaurants. Such a great location! There's plenty of outdoor seating, and they have an indoor area. Service (5/5): They'll give you a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. Food took no more than 10 minutes to come out!

Yelp
Went here on a Sunday night and ordered 2 rice bowls: one sausage and one crispy pork belly. We also got the lumpias and we also wanted to try the ube bread, but they were sold out :( The workers were friendly, the wait time was about 20 mins even though they said 10, and the portion was small for the price (around $16 per bowl). The food was pretty bland in my opinion. The crispy pork belly was dry and tough to chew. The lumpia's were the best dish.
google avatar

Lydia P.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place but it was not good. The chicken adobo barely had flavor. I tasted the dried and green onions that were sprinkled on top. I should have known when I looked at the color. The lumpia was also a disappointment. I tasted oil more than anything else. So disappointed!
google avatar

Prince R.

Yelp
That Kare Kare was bomb! Just like how my mom makes it. Beefy, Peanutty, and savory till the last bite. Ube Pandesal was a great add to our meal! Service was super helpful and fast. Can't wait to try the other bowls!
google avatar

Yelp
We found this place on insta and were so excited to try it, but unfortunately, it was a bit of a miss :( Located in a trendy food hall, there is lots of seating both inside and out. Was very empty on a weekend afternoon. Service was friendly, wide variety of Filipino fusion food choices, prices were on the higher side. What we ordered: -Sisilog: I got this and wasn't a fan. The pork belly was a little too fatty and the citrus mayo was too much for my liking. The spice was perfect and so was the garlic rice though! It was overall too fatty and creamy. I was expecting a little more balance in meat and fat. 3/5 -Lechon Kawali: My mom got this and she thought it was good but she preferred it to be crispier. -Lumpia Gulay: This was sooooo good! Perfectly crunchy and flavorful on its own! You are also given a pretty decent amount too! 5/5 -Ube Pandesal: This was super delish as well! The Ube flavor is prominent and bread is soft! Kind of on the smaller side portion wise. Ube butter was good, it enhances the Ube flavor of the bread while also adding a bit of saltiness. I'm not sure if the butter was mixed well because there were variances in color throughout, some white spots and brownish spots which I'm guessing is the butter and brown sugar but it didn't impact the taste at all. I'd say eat this first before your food while it's still warm because it's impossible to spread the butter if your Pandesal cooled down already. 5/5 Overall, this place had so much potential but fell kind of short for us. Super cool vibe and friendly service. Unfortunately, we enjoyed our side dishes more than the mains so we probably won't make the drive out to this place again anytime soon. But I wish this place the best of luck, we need more cool Filipino places like this one!

Yelp
First time to this cute container food corner! White Rice Filipino food was finishing up a large outdoor parties good. I ordered the lechon bowl it was great size portions of meat. white, rice and fried egg. Tge sauce that came with my bowl was citrusy and light i asked for chili sauce and both sauces were a good pairing. i ordered some ube bread and butter too. I enjoyed and would come back. It was a mild day so eating al fresco in outdoor patio for lunch was perfect. Oh my friend is vegetarian, she ordered the mushroom tofu rice bowl. She ate it but didn't have much to say about it.

Yelp
While Filipino food isn't well known in the Montebello area White Rice is ready to change that. A few classics are available in a bowl mix, and I decided to get the chopped pork belly bowl and a side of ube pandesal. Prices are typical of a casual Asian restaurant ($16 for the sisilog bowl and $5 for the Ube pandesal as of May 2025), and they do accept credit card for payment. After waiting a while, my food was prepared as a takeout order. Upon eating, I noticed the sisilog had a quiet sour taste. I am disappointed that I couldn't even finish the bowl. What was a hidden gem was the Ube pandesal! The Ube butter was amazing, and the bread was fresh and tasty too! I will try a different bowl next time, but be aware that White Rice may be hit or miss.

Yelp
Checked out White Rice in Montebello, and it's a gem! The crispy pork silog with lechon was fantastic! The ube milk tea was a unique ,sweet and delicious treat. Proud to support this new Filipino spot
google avatar

Alan K.

Yelp
Sisig! Go for the chopped pork belly. It's a funky plate where you have a drier, thinner rice that's laced with subtle garlic notes that supplements chopped, fatty pork belly that's semi-fried on the sides, and topped with egg that you can all mix into a nice bowl of yum. The weird kicker is that there's a lemony/lime kick that is so subtle in the back and that helps bring a head-tilting contrasting moment to the savory-porky bite that you're having. It's an interesting plate of food, and overall cooked pretty well where I'd want to order from here again.
google avatar

Camille R.

Yelp
Finally some flavor in the Blvd Mrkt! I have no beef with their pizza, burgers or Latin American food here, but they needed this place to round them out! There are two cute Lechonk Pokemon statues perched on their shipping container. They are pretty good with food questions and suggestions. The Longanisa was great, the lumpia too! Must try!
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
So glad to finally have a Filipino restaurant in Montebello! Opened at BLVD Market and I'm glad that continues to grow. The best thing was the longanisa sausage. I usually find it to be too sweet and oily and I found this one to strike the perfect balance. My least favorite was the lechon kawali which I found to be too dry. Maybe the chopped versioin would be better. The ube pandasal was also underwhelming. Drinks were interesting. The other thing I was disappointed about was the promises of garlic rice when it's just plain white rice. I know it's called white rice, but there's nothing like garlic rice with Filipino cuisine! Overall, I think it's not the best Filipino food but it's passable and I'd come back.
google avatar

Clair S.

Yelp
Great fast service. I tried the Sisilog, as recommended by the cook. Couldn't be happier. Light spice and the may sauce is delicious. Ask your add the over easy egg. Game changer

Yelp
First time trying this spot and it was so good. Recommend the mushroom and fried tofu bowl I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Stumbled across this place as I was strolling through the BLVD MKT and am very impressed! The customer service was great! They really went above and beyond with explaining their menu. I ended up ordering the Crispy Pork Belly bowl and Ube bread with ube butter. I couldn't eat it there so I got it to go and drove 20 minutes home. When I got home, I was very surprised that the crispy pork belly was actually still crispy! I always get nervous with fried foods being soggy after a few minute but it was not an issue here! And the ube bread with the ube butter was uncredibly tasty! I will definitely be coming back here!

Yelp
Welcome to the Neighborhood White Rice! I love rice! 1st visit - Lechon! SOLD OUT! Just like Jokoy shows! Yes, I went home with empty stomach. But nothing is going to stop me to come back and this time I'll come early. 2nd visit - Oh lechon, how I missed you last time. This time I get to try Lechon and calamansi juice. Taste: The lechon passed the Crispy standard. Everything in bowl was just right. I don't think you guys want to share when you try their lechon rice bowl. Overall,l I'm a happy camper! The only thing was that don't accept cash and they run out of Mang Thomas. I'm a little sad but it's okay. Somehow the eggs, rice, lechon and pickled carrots complement each other. Ambiance - It has the outside garden ambience. Good for lunch date or dinner date. Parking - side streets or public parking on the left hand side of the building. I shall return and with my family and friends so they eat with me. Cheers!

Yelp
I love me some Filipino food, and when I saw that there was a new spot opening up at one of my favorite hang-outs, I was excited. Located inside the BLVD Market in downtown Montebello, this is one of those cool spaces that we're starting to see more of now days, built to foster community and culture, centered around food, and drinks. It's a great spot, with a variety of food options for everyone, even the kids, but do yourself a favor and try out White Rice's savory Filipino rice bowls. There's a few options to choose from, and so far I've tried 4 of the bowls (aka Silog): the Grilled Chicken (Tocino Manok) with a sunny side up egg, the Soy Braised Pork (Pork Adobo) served with a sliced hard boiled egg, the Crispy Pork Belly (Lechon Kawali), and my favorite, the Sweet Pork Sausage (Longanisa) served with the 100% necessary sunny side up egg. Break that yolk and mix it all in! I've enclosed some pics of each one, so you can make yourself even more hungry as you try to decide. The real sleeper item however, is the Ube Pan De Sal with Ube Butter. Served warm and soft, and just perfect. I had ordered it as just a filler, but each time I've gone back, just within their first week of being open, I've ordered it every single time. Stop messing around, and get the 6pc and share it with someone sitting nearby. Also, if you're feeling in the mood for something deep fried, then of course you can't go wrong with either the meat or veggie Lumpia. Pro tip: I love grabbing a beer from Alchemy, and then trying to figure out what food is going to pair up nicely with whatever I chose to have them pour. There's even currently a Cucumber Calamansi Lemonade Hard Seltzer by Everywhere Brewing on tap, that you can have made with a tajin/chamoy rim that pairs up with everything on White Rice's menu! I hope they can keep the Asian inspired beers in their future rotations as well. Link up with Brewyard, Goal, Harland, and all the other Asian craft beer companies! It's awesome to see the food options growing at BLVD Market.

Yelp
Food was good and filling. Pandesal was amazing. Get the hot sauce when you get your food. Lumpiang Shanghai was good too. Now if they served Turon, it would be game over for me. They seem to still need to work on things like correct phone numbers on google maps, their own website, the Blvd market website. Online ordering through Blvd market website does not exist. If you click on the "dive in" button, it takes you to the white rice website that then takes you back to Blvd market website. So went there to order a decently sized order. Face to face. Waited a bit. Service was super nice. They advised they will look into the issues. Cool. Will come back since it's decently close by and food was good. Give it a shot if your in the area.

Yelp
So I came to check out the BLVD MRKT and this stand caught my eye right away because you don't see a lot of Filipino establishments. Which is too bad because I really like Filipino food haha. Had to try it out! Staff is really friendly and super easy to talk to. They seem very happy and outgoing and that's always really nice when you can have real conversations with people. One of the guys saw me eyeing one of the plates he had prepared and he took the time to talk to me and explain to me what the dish was, which I thought was really cool. I had the lumpiang Shanghai and it was delicious! Hot and fresh and very flavorful. They're having their soft opening right now and I highly recommend everybody go check them out!

Rachel Y.

Yelp
Ordered the Chicken Adobo and it was terrible. It was basically bland chicken chunks over a bed of even blander, mushy rice. There were no seasoning or sauces to help with the taste.
google avatar

Lorin Z.

Yelp
Excellent food, truly savory! We got several entrees and sides, all of it was perfection. Entrees are great even without the sauces, but seriously try the sauces! They are next level! 10/10 recommend this restaurant, Love the atmosphere of the courtyard as well.

Yelp
Was so excited. This is my culture's food so I know the flavors well...but the items I ordered via UberEats lacked that punch of flavor. Like salt. The garlic fried rice. Needed salt. Had enough oil and garlic but no salt. Lechon was good. But unfortunately my favorite Mang Tomas was watered down!!!! WTF?? Longanisa was A+. Fried egg was fried perfectly. Ube pan de sal was small for the price but A++nonetheless. I was disappointed that the adobo was not available for delivery--because that looks pretty tasty. My Mom saw this place on IG and wanted to try it... but I won't let her down. Maybe I'll bring her and the flavors will be just how we know they should be.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Definitely coming back! Highly recommend the ube pan de sal! That butter!

Yelp
Overall a nice experience, very filling. The sausage had a nice flavor and sweet. I do wish the rice had more garlic. My wife had the crispy pork, that had more flavor, though it also was heavier being it's a fatty cut.

Yelp
White Rice is definitely worth the hype! We ordered the grilled chicken bowl, sisig bowl, 6 pcs of ube pandesal, and calamansi juice, and everything was delicious. Portions are generous for the price, and ordering ahead (30 mins) made pickup super smooth as our food was ready as soon as we arrived. The grilled chicken was tender, flavorful, and came with a hefty serving. The sisig was tasty too, though the pork portion was noticeably smaller compared to the chicken. Now, the ube pandesal? Absolutely to die for! The ube butter made it even better. We did notice that four of them were smaller than the other two, but honestly, they were still worth it. And the calamansi juice? So refreshing, we had to go back for another! Definitely coming back to try more!

Yelp
Service was fine. There was plenty of seats in the communal eating area. It wasn't busy at all and they gave me the wrong order. I ordered crispy pork belly and got chicken. Epic fail. It was tasty and got eaten but that's not what I wanted. Their ube pandesal buns are fresh and delicious, that's why they got 3 stars. Otherwise, not a happy customer.

Yelp
Food and service was amazing! Ask for the "Tony" ~ Chicken Adobo with a side of Lechon + eggrolls. Support your local business!

Yelp
I absolutely love this new addition to the blvd MRKT in downtown montebello. There's a food renaissance happening on the eastside and it's places like White Rice that are really leading the charge. The owners of this Filipino concept decided to bring their highly regarded restaurant from San Diego to the eastside of LA to help evangelize Filipino flavors and culture! First off the design of the container is so creative, it reminds me of a Filipino Jeepney. Secondly, their menu while extremely simple, is highly focused on delivering quality flavors jam packed in a bowl of culture! So far I've had about 50% of their menu but today I tried their Longanisa and chicken bowls along with their amazing ube bread and a ube milk drink. Let me tell you that this absolutely slapped! They took like 15 minutes to bring out the food and were extremely polite and talkative. They really wanted to know what we thought about the food and presentation. This place just opened so I' have a policy not to review places within their first 2 months because they're usually dialing in their systems and processes and even their menu but I felt compelled to let everyone know THAT I LOVE THIS PLACE AND I LOVE THIS FOR THE EASTSIDE OF LOS ANGELES! A great addition to the city of montebello! I highly recommend it and if you're coming through and it's in 2024 please be kind and be mindful that they just opened, running a restaurant is hard and let's support small businesses who take a chance to come to neighborhoods like Montebello because we need them to be successful. Let's build up our community and help them be successful! Salamat po White Rice!!!

Yelp
I was so excited to see this in Montebello. I really want to support a small, local Filipino business. Was happy to wait 30+ minutes for the food. Unfortunately, the sisilog was almost all fat. No joke. So disappointing. Wish the chef/owner would have just said they were out of that bowl instead of what we got served.

Yelp
Nestled in a courtyard of a food hall in Montebello is White Rice, an expansion to their SD location. I ordered the Lechonsilog,( pork belly bowl rice bowl) deep fried pork belly over rice with fried egg and achara, pickled carrot. The order was a good size serving and the accompanying lechon sauce was pretty good. Also had the kalamansi juice (cross between sweet lemon and lime ) and ube pandesal with ube butter . Everything came out right away although I came around 4pm no line and plenty of parking . The 90s hip hop was a dope vibe too. I ordered the lumpia both vegetable and pork to go. Overall food and experience was pretty good.

Yelp
Grilled chicken bowl and Lumpia Shanghai. Lumpia's were delicious. The bowl was not. The chicken was rubbery and seemed reheated. Unpleasant, nothing stood out for me with this bowl. Friend had veggie bowl and it was 5/10. She also got the veggie rolls and these two were bad. Do the pizza or burgers instead.

Yelp
The food and service are top notch. The ube milk tea was perfectly sweet, not overly sweet. The calimansi iced tea was very refreshing. We also had an order of the lumpia - perfectly crispy. The longanisa (sweet pork) was not overly sweet, and so moist. The crispy pork belly and chopped pork belly were hits for our pork eating family members. I really enjoyed the chicken - amazing and flavored sear. Everything was tasty and made to order. Unfortunately they were out of the ube pan de sal. Next time! We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
The rice bowls are so good, I recommend the Lechon fried pork and fire grilled chicken bowl. Their Ube Pandesal with the Ube butter is crave worthy DELICIOUS! It's in the BLVD market which also has great other food options and best part is the Alchemy Craft bar. Get the cucumber calamansi seltzer, compliments the food well!

Yelp
Stopped by White Rice in Montebello, and I'm so glad I did! The lemonade was amazing--I ended up getting an extra to-go because it was that good. The market had a really nice vibe, and even though there was a long line (they just opened), the wait wasn't too bad. Definitely planning to come back! I haven't had a lot of Filipino food so I'm happy places like these are opening so I can give them a try.

Yelp
This is not good filipino food. Stay away if you want something that tastes good and is authentic. 2 stars for the pan de sal. They took down my original review bc they couldn't handle the truth.
