"Run by Nancy and Bob Baker, White Rock Coffee is literally a mom-and-pop operation—there's nothing glamorous about this local spot, but the excellent coffee (roasted by Nancy and Bob themselves) and laid-back vibe make it a mainstay. While there's always a steady stream of customers, it never feels crowded, so it's a good place to get stuff done. The original Highlands Lake location has a spacious lofted space (that's where most of the outlets are), while the new express location has a drive-through if you don't have time to park."

White Rock Coffee is one of many places in the coffee scene within the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, and what makes them taste like hometown are three things: authentic hospitality, variety of different drinks and sauces that they make, and most importantly, the way they gave back to the community. I went to visit their original location on Northwest Hwy. conveniently located right next to the Dallas Police Northwest Division. Fun fact: did you know that they have a roastery next to their original location? How amazing! However, that one is by appointment only, so check with them for more details. Shoutout to the White Rock Coffee staff for welcoming us back with open arms, as well as introducing new drinks to us that were of high demand and interest. One, however, that really did catch my eye, was my all time-favorite: the White Rocker, which included two shots of espresso, whole milk, and their signature White Rock syrup. My friend on the other hand, got the Lone Star Latte — chai with a hint of that White Rock syrup that they put in there as well!

Because of their roastery, all of their coffee beans are sourced from local partners and cooked and roasted right here in the heart of Dallas. I’m just really glad that I was able to really catch up with the times that there are, honestly. I’ll definitely be back to visit more whenever I’m in the DFW! Y’all have my support! :)

Love this spot! This is one of my most-frequented coffee shops when I used to live in the area. My go-to order is the iced Adam Bomb along with a sausage breakfast strata. They also have seasonal menus and sometimes I’ll order from there. Cozy environment to work in. My former roommate and I used to read/study/work here then drive to the lake for a sunset walk at the end of the day!

** Update on this review: they told me to reach out via email so they could make things right, I emailed them, they never replied. So, everything I said about not wasting your time with this place remains true. ** I hate to write this review because I’ve had a positive experience at one of their other locations, but this location was awful. First of all, how to access the drive-thru is confusing. The parking lot is extremely run down and there’s only one small sign that points to the drive-thru and then you have to maneuver behind two buildings and cars that are haphazardly parked. However, my real problem was the coffee itself. I paid over $7 for one of their specialty lattes and it tasted like burnt, stale coffee from a pot. It did not resemble espresso and certainly didn’t taste like there was any flavoring added. To top things off, for $7 I shouldn’t get a cup filled to the brim with ice with hardly any liquid because of the excess ice…so much ice, in fact, that I couldn’t even put my straw in. I’ve never experienced that before, it was actually crazy. Definitely not going to waste my time here ever again. Save your money and try someplace else. 👎🏻

Amazing Sopapilla Latte. Great atmosphere, we love it here! Check them out!

Google
I walked my dog this morning, before the Texas heat awakened, to purchase some ground coffee. However, I had forgotten that only service pets are allowed. I called the staff with the number listed on their site and to my surprise gave me access to a human! I ask if they could provide service to me out by the front door. I did not want to leave my dog outside unattended. An amazing lady came to our rescue!! I don't think a major coffee chain would have helped us. 🐕🤓 Thank you for the awesome service!

Google
Doing my level best to avoid the Green Siren people, I was able to get to White Rock this morning at 6:15 where I had no problem parking the Sprinter van and no problem finding a seat. Note that they do have an upstairs area but it gets rather warm there. Two great cups of coffee that lasted me for four hours through my "morning office" as I sent a few emails, sat through a Zoom conference call and did some work. It's not exactly a quiet spot but if you want that, try the library. This was good enough and I enjoyed it enough for five stars. Wifi and power outlets throughout. Rest room is clean.

Google
A nice neighborhood coffee joint. Dependable, with good weekend hours, they also have good whole-bean coffee for your at-home coffee needs. They haven’t broken the mold on the independent coffee scene, but then again, that probably isn’t their aim. For now, in this area of Dallas, simply being a better option than the Starbucks next door is more than enough.

Google
My God you his place has the most amazing coffee. Please keep the 20th anniversary coffee I need to drink the chocolate coffee cherry, hazelnut, and toffee coffee for the rest of my life. I literally stopped preserving my coffee from Yemen to drink this. I implore you to make it a regular, it is one of your best. I hear it’s discontinued at the end of the year and I’m stocking up and preparing to freeze bags of it because I am going to be so sad when it’s gone

Yelp
Ashley was a great sever, the service and the food was amazing. We got the chicken friend steak, eggs and potatoes and it was a huge portion for a great cheap price! Definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
I love to come here. The ambiance consist of indoor and outdoor seating, plus there is upstairs seating. The coffee is delicious here. There are coffee bags of different flavors of their signature blend. The bags are whole beans. They will grind the beans at no additional charge if you desire to enjoy fresh brewed coffee from here at home. No worries if you would like a light pastry with your coffee. They sell an assorted selection of pastries, drinks, and snack packs. The service is always fast and friendly. There is one dilemma. As a result of their popularity and tiny space, the drive thru is usually long and trying to find parking is extremely challenging. If you are in a rush, this spot may not be the spot. If you want to meet up with some friends, carpool and enjoy.

Yelp
I honestly do not understand why White Rock Coffee has such a high rating. First the wait for orders is way too long and there's no clear system to manage it. Second I ordered a cappuccino and the coffee was so over-roasted that it tasted bitter and burnt. Honestly it's one of the worst coffees I've ever had QuikTrip coffee is better (and that says a lot). I also tried a sweet kolache, which was decent, but if you're looking for a great coffee experience, this isn't the place.

Yelp
Coffee is great and consistent. The loft you can sit and enjoy your coffee is super cute. The veggie strata is soooo dang good! Their muffins are always cooked perfectly. Coffee and food come out quick. They have coffee brew classes as well!

Yelp
White Rock Coffee was an indulgent and memorable experience. While traveling to Texas we pulled in here to grab some coffee for the road. We ended up buying some of their bags of coffee beans and got some cups of lattes. They offer a wide range of different milk options. I ended up getting a chai from there which was done perfectly. I very much enjoyed it. The cafe is rather large considering that it has an upper level. It's such a cute casual place with plenty of places to hang out or work at. They also have a drive-thru as well. The staff was super nice and informative. They were happy to answer any of our questions. And besides their awesome drinks they also had a large variety of sweet and savory food items. There were so many good pastries on displays. I highly recommend if you love coffee and are in the area.

Yelp
Superior experience from a superior home-grown brand. These guys have been very active in Scouting and bring a great product--and somehow they always have what you want before you know you want it. I stop by their drive thru a couple of times a week. They are great people!

Yelp
What a cute coffee spot - perfect location and scratches that itch when you aren't certain what variations of caffeine you want. Excellent service and the coffee is reasonably priced and really good. Great options for a quick bite- bagels, pastries, salads, cookies- and a little shop to buy swag and coffee and accessories

Yelp
Every time I'm in Dallas I have my sister take me by White Rock Coffee. This time we went through the drive thru and ordered a few cool drinks and a pup cup to take back to my fur nephew. It was so cute, when we got to the window to pay, a few baristas were waiting at the window with the cashier to see the doggy and were so upset to hear he was waiting at home and not in the car. They made a super cute pup cup with two doggy biscuits. The service was great, our drinks were delicious as always, and per usual, everything was great. I didn't grab a bag of fresh roasted coffee this trip but if you ever stop by White Rock Coffee you MUST get some of their fresh roasted coffee beans to take home and enjoy. You can also order online. And don't forget to go inside, they have a great lounge area and cool merchandise to take home.

Yelp
It was my 1st time here and omg the staff were super nice and welcoming and I loved their recommendations! Will be coming here for the matcha instead of going to starbucks lmao

Yelp
Alyssa really knows how to deliver great customer service with a fantastic attitude. Her positive energy and helpfulness she made my experience truly enjoyable. It's so refreshing when someone goes above and beyond to make you feel valued as a customer. Alyssa's exceptional customer service skills and positive attitude. flawless service

Yelp
I am very happy to have found this coffee shop in the white rock area. I loved the blended caramel latte and the desserts looked very delicious and fresh. I visited during a Sunday morning and there was plenty of seating and the drive thru looked very efficient. This is a great place to get some work done but it can be a bit loud. I studied with my headphones on and had no problem! The wifi is also free and the service is great. I really like this shop and I will definitely be going back!

David S.

Yelp
Really loved this establishment but recently it has taken a dip. First thing, their reward program doesn't work on their App. I attempted to apply my reward points to my order today, and I received an error stating "try ordering again tomorrow". I was able to order my coffee through the app but when I picked it up, it was wrong. Just frustrated with the recent experience as this establishment has been really great in the past.

Yelp
Quick service on hot and cold coffees--even in drive through. Scones are soft and flavorful. Seasonal pumpkin coffee was just what I needed. White rocker is good choice as well. Fun contest among employees for tips.good rewards program.

Yelp
Value - check. Good coffee - check. Plenty of space - check. Parking - well. We can't have it all!!! WRC is an east dallas institution and I've been frequently to their mockingbird drive through location. This free standing version is welcoming and friendly. Random weekdays have tons of folks meeting and working and it has quite the buzz. Most relevantly I arrived shortly after 6am with the family on a random weekday. Super early as the kids were up and the adults wanted some coffee after and early morning sunrise viewing at the lake. We got a Cortado and a regular drip and both were delicious and under $8. Something to be said for 2 coffees under $8 these days!!! Super local vibe and plenty of water for the kids to self serve with cups available for them as well. Parking can get tricky at peak times but at 6am on a weekday you can be a VIP and park out front!! I recommend WRC for your caffeine fix!

Yelp
The stranglehold of their iced dirty chai and iced half sweet vanilla latte has me coming here usually twice a week before work, it's phenomenal! The drive through is extremely fast and efficient and even at 6:30am the staff is extremely friendly. The inside of this place is tiny but the coffee and food options make up for it. Highly recommend getting a breakfast sandwich or a seasonal pop tart to go along with your stellar coffee.

Yelp
Everything I have ever had from this coffee place is wonderful. I was worried put it first open that it would make it but I'm so glad to say that was true service and wonderful teas and coffee. They have been a success. It's for the few places, I'll wait in line. !!!!!!!!
google avatar

Arnold S.

Yelp
Went there twice while visiting family in the area and both my hot mocha and blended chai with 2 shots were amazing. Great service and quick even when we got 8 breakfast dishes and 6 specialty drinks. It will be a place I go to whenever I visit. We did drive through, but my sister said it has a good vibe Inside!
google avatar

Arran D.

Yelp
I love this coffee shop! They offer a wide variety of fun drinks as well as some pastries and light breakfast & lunch items. I love their Adam Bomb, White Rocker, and Chai! The employees are always super helpful and fun to chat with, and their rewards program is a good bonus. The drive-thru is convenient, but it's a wonderful place inside, as well. There are lots of tables and it's a 2-story building so there's ample space for a good study session, if needed. Definitely swing by here and support a local coffee shop!

Yelp
First time to try this place and not impressed. This is what I was handed for my triple espresso with extra ice . I Ordered 3 shots of espresso on ice, in a small cup and a splash of half and half - hardly any ice was added as well as hardly flavor and I paid almost $7 for this. I could go next door to Starbucks and get 4 shots, flavor and a splash of half and half for under $5. Very disappointing for the price I paid. An espresso on ice should not be the price of a latte.

Yelp
This coffee shop has a special place in my heart. The first time I went there was almost 20 years ago! WR offers a great balance of things people look for in a coffee joint. The house coffee and lattes are very good, the place has a neighborhood, community feel to it, it's a place with a lot of places to sit -- ideal for studying or hanging out, and in my experience, the people who work there are very nice. I've written and read many a page, shared many a moment at White Rock Coffee, and even though I'm no longer in the neighborhood I still look forward to the days I can get across town to stop in there.
google avatar

Angie B.

Yelp
My sister recommended this place for coffee when I was searching for a place to hang out with my mom for a while. So glad she pointed us in this direction. One of the main reasons why? THE SCONES! Oh my gosh! The chocolate strawberry was delicious! Packed with fresh strawberries! And the cinnamon sugar was divine! Moist and buttery! My daughter and I were happy! (So was my mom but she had been here before.) Philly has some really great coffee shops but the scones at White Rock rival any I've had.
google avatar

Christina F.

Yelp
Great coffee and food! They improved the drive thru which I use frequently. The staff are friendly and efficient. This business is part of our community. They support local organizations that provide scholarships. They host art shows for for the elementary school nearby.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
My absolute favorite coffee in DFW! The atom bomb & white rocker (iced) are hands down the very best. I am the perfect amped from a cup of this. They have awesome Hours and an easy drive through location or I order online in advance and pickup at the window during the busier hours!
google avatar

Mr Kenz ..

Yelp
Good coffee, for sure. The place gets a bit crowded imo so if you're looking for calm place for work, it might not be it!
google avatar

Andy O.

Yelp
Still a great place to hang out and enjoy local art, good coffee, and good neighbors. I do wish they would bring back the live music back. Really enjoyed the musians that's played here. But overall, I enjoy coming here.

Yelp
Homemade pastries check, 2nd story seating check, coffee check! Pretty interesting coffee shop with two stories and tons of workers and people just studying away! The croissant and oat milk sopapilla iced latte ended up ~$10. the home made heated croissant was quiet buttery and good! sopapilla latte was interesting, their roasted beans makes it a different hint I can not describe. Its not my choice of beans personally. This drink was very popular with different staff fyi, but I can just live with the regular latte.

Nicholas D.

Yelp
I moved to the Lake Highlands area about a year ago and adopted white rock coffee as my main spot. The level of customer service and good vibes this specific location gives off speaks to the company's culture. After I ordered the same coffee drink a few mornings in a row, they had my name and order memorized. Everyone you interact with is extremely jovial, which at first can give off an almost dystopian vibe, until you realize it's just the result of a clear mission statement and total employee buy in. In short, everyone here is wonderful. I've sampled coffee shops all over Dallas and I can attest to the quality of their product as well. It's absolutely dank. Get yourself a large iced latte with an extra shot of espresso and see what I mean. (Hope you like it strong).

Skylar H.

Yelp
Loyal customer here. Frequently get a blended Adam bomb and know what it should taste and look like. A few times recently it wasn't made correctly but I let it go. The last time ordering it tasted like a completely different drink but did not have time to have it remade. Reached out and was told that they want to "help make this right" but never got a response after clarifying which location it was. Went again today and the same issue so now I will no longer frequent this location.
google avatar

Derek G.

Yelp
White Rock Coffee is my go to roaster for the DFW area and visiting the "homw" and roasting location is always good with baristas capable of making a great latte. The only downside to this location is that parking is very limited and the drive through is very busy. I'd recommend any of their roasts but I'm partial to light and medium. They do a excellence job of labelling the flavor notes in the coffees which helps a lot.
google avatar

Yolanda H.

Yelp
This coffee shop is a cool spot and has good vibes. The baristas are very helpful also.

Norm A.

Yelp
A nice coffee place for taking a break during your busy day, or for forgetting time by reading books by yourself. They have ample seating for n the first and second floors, with the WiFi connection. Ironically they're right close to Starbucks, but they seem to be doing well against the large chain coffee shop. Their snacks are pretty good too - the scones, cinnamon rolls and pecan coffee cake... you can't go wrong with them!
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
Update 03/06/2023 I love White Rock Coffee the people and the atmosphere is always welcoming and MY FIRST go-to place to study and hang out. But now the English Toffee has become seasonal...? Y'all used to have it year round... It's running around two years after the pandemic ended and the hours have improved but I remember when y'all used to close at 11PM, that's what brought me in the first place. I hoping in the future we'll see hours until 9PM or 10PM. I'm not expecting it, but don't expect me here either if there is another shop to accommodate my needs of late night. Over all, visit any WRC location and you'll never be disappointed. No lie, everyone I have bought/gifted White Rock Coffee has never been displeased! God bless, love y'all!
google avatar

Mel K.

Yelp
Two stars because the pickup was easy and staff were nice. Ordered drinks online for pickup. Neither of them was good at all. I ended up tossing my large latte which sucks because it wasn't cheap. Pretty sure my drink was almond milk which I can't stand, the sleeve said oat but it didn't taste right at all.
google avatar

Karla M.

Yelp
Had an ok experience. Matcha latte- first sip realized it was dairy, so had to order another one. They didn't offer to just swap it out. They only had almond and oat milk options--the almond one tasted good but there were matcha crumbles at the bottom. Iced coffee was good. Plenty tables to sit inside, Plenty of parking, Drove few min to white rock park afterwards for a walk w the drinks.
google avatar

Madigan M.

Yelp
What an absolutely fabulous coffee shop. I love the high ceilings, the second floor study space, the assortment of various coffee-themed gifts at the front door (mugs with sassy sayings, whole beans to make coffee at home) There's a distinctive black and white tree mural and local artists paintings on display. I like to order the local specialty the "White Rocker" - a mocha with caramel. They have a counter full of pastries, light lunch fare and bottled drinks. I like the pasta salad with olives and cherry tomatoes as well as the Texas pecan muffin. This place is always hopping - you might experience a short wait after ordering your drink, but the place always seems well-staffed and focused on moving things along as quickly as they can. I've never seen fewer than 4 staff behind the bar. This place is pretty dog and kid friendly. There's a small patio out front with bench seating and water bowls for thirsty dogs. The parking lot appears small, but I've never had an issue parking just north of the coffee shop (near the pool) and walking downhill through the lot to get to the shop. There's a drive-through if you're really in a hurry. Overall, a pretty epic coffee shop and one of my favorites in the DFW area.
google avatar

Jannifer K.

Yelp
White Rock Coffee is my new favorite coffee shop in all of Dallas for a couple different reasons: they have some of the most friendly staff members of all the coffee shops I've tried in the area, their stores have a modern, trendy, feel with all their unique hanging lights and pieces of art adorning the store(s), they're a local small business vs. a chain, the atmosphere of their cafes is serene each time I visit, their pricing is *very* reasonable, and they're the only coffee shop in DFW that I've found thus far that offers decaf drip coffee! What makes this particular location of White Rock Coffee lovable is that they have 2 floors of seating (the main floor where you order has seating, and they have an upstairs/ loft that has bar seating overlooking floor #1 as well as other seating options at tables sprawled across floor #2) AND they have outdoor seating on their 'porch' (the little area in front of their store) as well as a side patio. There's ample seating options. In addition, the charming high ceilings indoors, and cute little house look on the outside makes the place feel cozy. It's a great spot to go to study or have a conversation over coffee with someone.

kate m.

Yelp
white rock coffee is always simply the best thing after a run, to have while walking, or just as a midday snack/drink. the employees are always so kind and joyful! also inside is a perfect place to study or talk with friends in a low maintenance and causal environment. 10/10
google avatar

Minly L.

Yelp
On this nice fall day, nothing is best like a Dirty chai with oat milk. Dirty chai is basically just the perfect combination of tea and espresso. At White Rock Coffee it feels like they're giving you a hug through this cup! I come here often to study because the vibe is great, drinks are amazing, and staff is super friendly!
google avatar

Tyler B.

Yelp
Awesome coffee, kind staff, comfortable atmosphere, solid wifi and perfect location. Beats SB next door.

Yessenia A.

Yelp
Friendly & professional staff, fresh pastries AND surprisingly good prices. If you're looking for good vibes, good coffee and a local business to support I'd highly recommend them!!!
google avatar

Cristiana W.

Yelp
i love the chicken salad on croissant! and the baristas are always nice, i haven't had a bad experience there! :)
google avatar

Genesis D.

Yelp
White Rock Coffee is def worth trying if you're not from the area because they are unique to the area. The workers are super friendly and it's a great environment. I stayed in Texas for two weeks and went almost everyday. Only thing I hope to see next time we come back is a rewards system in their POS. They already have Revel so it's just a matter of activating and getting it going. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN. It's about to be 2022, let's gooooo!!

Yelp
The service was good, staff was welcoming. We orders 2 lattes & they tasted great. This coffee shop is small but chill.

Bee M.

Yelp
I always stop by this coffee shop while in the area! They never disappoint, their lattes are nice and strong with the right amount of sweetener. The baristas are always very helpful, kind, and social! It's also really cute inside.

Yelp
Incredible coffee, beautiful location, wonderful service! I love visiting with friends & clients at this gorgeous two story location in East Dallas by white rock lake. Their blended coffee is the best! Always a place to sit, it's clean & inviting
google avatar

Jack B.

Yelp
Great coffee, friendly barristers, and nice atmosphere! I have no more to add but this stupid survey requires a minimum of characters ... which is annoying ... and often, I don't rate a Yelp place because of this.
google avatar

Feathers M.

Yelp
I only popped into White Rock Coffee for an order to-go, but I enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were friendly. The coffee shop is two stories, providing a lot of seating for customers. As for the quality of product, I ordered an iced chai latte and was really pleased. The latte had a buttery chai taste, which was delicious. They are pretty heavy handed on the ice though, so I'd recommend asking for light, if you want your money's worth. Speaking of, White Rock is pretty pricey for the quantity of product. My group mate ordered a macchiato and it was nearly $4. A bit ridiculous for a shot of espresso and a bit of milk. The staff initially got my order wrong, making a dirty chai instead of a normal chai, but they were quick to mix the mistake. If you need a coffee shop to sit down and work awhile at, I think this is your place. Note that the parking lot is tight and fairly small.
google avatar

Justine H.

Yelp
Love the vibe of the place and the decorations! There's not as much seating as I would like but it's cozy and comfortable. I ordered a chai and it was in the middle of a sweet and spicy chai. Didn't leave the tart taste that you might find at most places so I was glad about that. They also have a wide variety of coffees and you can buy their beans as well!
