"I don't have time to look for your f**king scarf"
I was a patron at White Star Warren Street location for my birthday this evening where my family and I spent hundreds of dollars to celebrate, including a generous tip. This is a place where I have celebrated birthdays, graduations, and engagements over the years. A local favorites from when I lived in Jersey City. The food was expensive and bland, but this wasn't really an issue as we were happy to be together, support a place that meant a lot to us, and celebrate . I recently moved out of state and traveled hours to see my family for the first time in months and enjoy my birthday evening.
Unfortunately, we needed to return to the restaurant to look for a lost item (a scarf). The hostess helped us chat with our server who completely disrespected us with "I don't have time to look for your f**cking scarf" and walked away to drop off a few sodas. As a former restaurant industry worker- I get it. It's Friday, you're swamped. However, as a former industry worker, this is unacceptable. All was needed was a "hang tight, I'm swamped. Give me a moment". Instead, my request was met with hostility in front of a packed restaurant. It was extremely embarrassing.
I understand that a lost item is not the servers responsibility, but there is something to be said about an established that hires servers who curse at you in front of the entire main floor of the restaurant, including at their colleagues and in front of children. The disrespect from this employee has cost White Star any future business from me.
