Whiteface Mountain

We took the Veterans Scenic Highway to the Castle and climbed to the Summit. There is an elevator that can take you to the Summit but it was not working the day we were there and unfortunately the people who needed it were not able to go to the summit. The climb has a railing all the way up which I needed to use at different intervals due to there not being steps in some areas. It is rocky in areas as you will see in some of the photos. The view is incredible and on a clear day you can see Vermont and Canada. Unfortunately, due to wild fires it’s not completely clear but you can still see quite far. Totally recommend you go to the summit. In one of the photos are the prices they charge.

Expansive views on a clear day. Great for almost all ages. Drive takes you most of the way to a parking lot, then it’s about a 15 minute walk up to the summit. Walking trail over mostly rocks has handrails. As of August 23, 2024, the elevator has been out of service for about 6 months but being worked on. Check the website for updates.

Cool experience without the full day hike, drive up to access. Trail up to the summit is steep, elevator access is also available. Beautiful views! Cafe for coffee, tea or treats.

First time hiking a mountain. My friends and I opted for the shorter hike. And thank god we did because there is no way none of us inexperienced hikers would have been able to do the full mountain hike, lol. The view at the top is breathtaking!

Whiteface mountain affords everyone an opportunity to experience a high peak. The fee to pass on the road is now $40.00 per vehicle so make sure that you make the best of your visit. [Also make certain the elevator to the top is working if you can't physically climb a lot of stairs.]

My husband and I loved it here!, the climb up is not difficult, and the view up top is amazing!

Rode motorcycles up the toll road on the opening day of the 2024 season. Weather was great and climbing up the stairs to see the view was tough but worth it! This is a must see

Situated in Wilmington (not Lake Placid)...the most awesome and impressive sight at the summit. Well supported by staff. Incredible views. The tunnel to the elevator is cold and the elevator only takes 5 at a time so maybe come early in the morning like we did. If there were 6-star ratings, this would have received it.
