The Best Booze Cruises Around D.C. | Eater DC

"A 47-passenger tiki-tour collaboration with Whitlow’s owner Jon Williams recreates the Clarendon dive’s original tiki rooftop as a floating bar; “Whitlow’s on Water has taken the [Potomac] by storm,” says Sea Suite’s Jack Walten. The vessel features a former Whitlow’s Clarendon bartender running the drinks program with standard mixed drinks alongside beers, wines, High Noon seltzers, orange crushes, and rum punches, plus a selection of pub grub (sandwiches, wings, etc.) sourced from Whitlow’s. Two TVs air “whatever people want to watch,” he says, which has included everything from March Madness to theBachelorette; popular bookings include bachelorette parties, corporate teams, birthdays, loyal Whitlow’s fans, and even 50-year wedding anniversaries. Individual tickets are available to “mix and mingle like you would in a normal bar,” and the boat relocates in 2025 from its original Navy Yard slip to the Wharf, making it a prime pregame option for concerts at nearby venues." - Tierney Plumb

Where to Book Booze Cruises of All Kinds in D.C. - Eater DC

"Now the largest boat in Sea Suite Cruises’ fleet, the 48-passenger tiki tour is the product of a fun new partnership with Whitlow’s owner Jon Williams. His iconic Clarendon dive moved to Shaw, but its original tiki rooftop on Wilson is reincarnated as a floating bar." - Tierney Plumb

The Hottest New Bars Around D.C. Right Now

"The iconic Clarendon dive that recently relocated to new Shaw digs sets sail from Georgetown and Navy Yard this spring. The tiki-styled bar started floating around the Potomac on St. Patrick’s Day weekend with an opening lineup of seltzers, beer, wine, bar fare, and room for 48. A thatched roof and tropical decor pay homage to the original Whitlow’s on Wilson. The joint collaboration with Sea Suite Cruises is now the largest vessel in its Potomac Tiki Club fleet. Book public and private excursions here." - Tierney Plumb

So much fun! Perfect venue and great sites along the way. Captain was so personable. Bar tender was working hard! My second trip and would definitely recommend to others!

The two hours flew by because we were having so much fun! The team was professional, friendly, and made us feel safe during our entire trip. Highly recommend it for any celebration or just because.

Recently went on this boat for a birthday celebration and had a fun time overall! The weather, unfortunately, was pretty rough—it was miserably cold, which made it a bit uncomfortable. Thankfully, the boat staff were very kind and handed out the few blankets they had, which was greatly appreciated. Note that this cruise is *not* BYOB, but the drinks sold onboard were surprisingly affordable, which was a nice plus. I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars mainly because I'm not sure it was fully worth the price. We didn’t get to see much of the Potomac, as the boat just circled a small area, and the trip ended earlier than expected. We departed at 1:45 PM and docked by 3:30 PM—short of the advertised 2-hour duration. I understand they need to stay on schedule, but I don’t think it’s fair to cut time short for guests who arrived on time just to accommodate latecomers.

Amazing experience! Very friendly staff and great customer service! Thoroughly enjoyed our time celebrating my sister’s birthday on the boat. Music was good, very well kept boat.. everything was great! Will definitely do it again on my own!

Great experience! The bartender, Noel, was amazing! The captain was great. The only thing that could’ve made this better is if there have been a way for individuals to purchase the unlimited drink package individually. We were not aware that if everyone in our group didn’t purchase it we wouldn’t be able to purchase it individually. This can be easily fixed by using wristbands (available at Party City FYI).

We had the best birthday celebration on the water. We will definitely be back. The crew was amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience. The only downfall is 2 hours goes by really quick when you are having fun. So book for 4 hours. You won’t regret it.

Yelp
Whitlow's is so fun and great value for your time. The boat itself is shaded and provides a light bathroom and a bar. We celebrated a friend's birthday on Whitlow's and the service, music selection, and experience overall was great. The staff is professional and well trained.

Yelp
Took a trip for a friends gathering and was pleasantly surprised about how fun and seamless it was. We all loaded up on the boat, did a small safety discussion, and we were off. You got one free canned cocktail when we took off and then the rest of the bar was pretty fairly priced ($11 wine, $7 beer, few cocktail options). The boat has a bathroom on board and sides/panels on colder days or bad weather days (though still being a coat if it's really cold). Bartender was awesome, so quick and made shooters in no time. You can bring your own food and they had a TV to watch sports on!
