Whole Foods Gets Restraining Order Against Animal Rights Activists | Eater

"A branch in Boulder, Colorado was the site of an April arrest of DxE co-founder Wayne Hsiung, who was charged with trespassing after allegedly trying to film and interview customers about eating meat; other DxE members have faced separate legal actions elsewhere, including a 2017 felony theft charge in Utah for removing a sick turkey." - Whitney Filloon

Lovely spot for study and lunch combo although limited. I would like them to post upfront how do they handle buffet leftovers and if that action included giving to the less fortunate or selling at lower prices in the pm hours.

Love this Wholefoods! Stopped by to buy a gift and card for a friend’s birthday (great gift and card selection). I realized I forgot my pen to fill out the card. At the checkout, Paul was kind enough to loan me his - the employees are amazing!

I moved to London over ten years ago; my first trip back to Boulder since; I was born and raised in Boulder. I cant believe how much Wholefoods has changed. A women almost had a pile of watermelons fall on her yesterday because they were piled so high. The ones at the top were rotten and she was trying to get one that looked good. Overall, staff was so miserable, unfriendly and high. I think the managers at this location should be let go. The place has no class anymore and no longer has any resemblance of a health food store. I had hiked from my brothers house, so I brought my backpack. The cop was literally following me around the store like I was some kind of thug. I thought we were supposed to bring our on bags now. The first thing I did this morning was unload all of my wholefoods stock.

This review is for the bakery Update You gotta go get the fancy cupcakes. The designs are getting cuter and cuter This one is if cupcakes could talk…(Mr and Mrs Claus) And the scoop is new designs next week for Christmas !!! ——— Out of all the wf bakeries in the area this one has the best cupcakes. We love the peanut butter and the fancy vanilla Yum!

This Whole Foods is the bigger one in Boulder! Very nice selection of cheeses. Produce is pretty good. I like that they just seem to have a bigger selection in general of items. Nice variety and spread. There’s a bird call inside as well which is nice and convenient. The parking is usually pretty packed but you can find spots. It’s aesthetically pleasing on the inside and out. You can spend some good time here because of the size and selection.

I am spoiled with my flagship Whole Foods store in my hometown of Austin, Texas; however, this store certainly has a large footprint and a chicken sandwich restaurant called Birdcall that I have never seen before. Finding parking when the story is busy can be a challenge - and be forewarned - your chicken at Birdcall will take about 10 minutes to prepare. If you want a sandwich, best to order it on the kiosks first, do your shopping and then get your Birdcall.

Google
This location has the best Bakery amongst all Whole Foods in Colorado. They always have a great selection, excellent cakes and friendly staff. Evelina is who I worked with today that went above and beyond to make my son’s birthday cake special and was extremely helpful and kind!

Why even bother having an espresso bar if the hours are so ridiculously short?!? So disappointing! WF caters mostly to Amazon prime members. Posted sale prices are only for them. WF has taken a downhill slide ever since being acquired by Amazon. Definitely no longer a fan! TJ's and Sprouts are better.

Yelp
This is the largest Whole Foods store I've ever been in, and they even have a separate beer/wine/liquor shop next door. I visited this store when I was on vacation, as it was a short walk from where my husband was training (BJJ). I browsed and also hung out for a bit in the beautiful outdoor patio area. The buffet is full of hot, fresh foods as well as a salad bar, pizza station, and a chicken sandwich "restaurant" inside the store (they also had a vegetarian version of the sandwich, but I didn't try it). The beer/wine/liquor store next door had a great selection with many local products. Unfortunately, we didn't have room in our suitcases to stock up and had to fly back to South Carolina the next day. I picked up a few snacks for our drives and hikes around the area, but if I lived in Boulder I'd visit often for the hot bar.

Yelp
Did you know Whole Foods Market does $1 Oysters on Fridays? Well they do, and if you have a sweet tooth for fresh oysters it's a steal of a deal! We stopped in because a friend told us of this deal. There was a super nice worker who took our order and happily started shucking our oysters. A half hour later, we had two dozen oysters on ice with all the fixings coming home with us. It was AWESOME and made for an AWESOME date night at home! PRO TIP: You can call before hand and order, too. Then, there's no wait.

Yelp
Felt unwelcome by the two employees at the return desk around 1:30 pm feb 18. Was returning things at the amazon self kiosk today, my hood was up because I was having a bad day and didn't want to speak to anyone. When i walked away the two employees at the return desk LOUDLY laughed. A man and a woman. The man was also LOUDLY telling a story about how he got fired at his last job for fraud. Everyone could hear.

Yelp
I bought 3lbs of Chestnuts last night WF online store at $5.99/pound. Chestnuts are so hard to come by here in Colorado, so I needed to buy them when they were available and freeze. I was ready to pick them up this afternoon. at WF on Pearl. I just got the email saying that there was "an issue" and my order was cancelled. It says I can reorder the item by clicking the link. Well surprise! It is now $7.99/pound! It smells illegal to me, at least very unethical. One sells a ball at $1. You bought 3 balls at $3. Then the seller says "oops, we have an issue and we cancelled your order. But you can reorder the ball at $5/ball now." Does this sound ethical to you? Surprised and shocked that Amazon/WF did this kind of practice.

Yelp
These kids are careless and reckless disgusting display of "don't give a damn." They refuse to do their jobs most the time these kids are just standing around doing nothing. If they have to actually work they just screw it up.

Yelp
Update: This was my regular store for most of the 20+ years it has been open. However given all the constraints of the last 2 years and my being able to get to this one, my husband and I have used both the smaller closer store (Ideal Market) and then the newest location in Boulder in Table Mesa which is mid size with better travel time and parking for us. But honestly, even with shortages over here, it still has the size, skills and tradition of a very large selection. So, now that things are smoothing out and with some recent outages at Table Mesa of some non food basics, we stopped back in today and found that it has a far better supply of goods and more knowledgeable staff, as they still do have some of their longer term regular employees. We also had noticed a few times this fall that they were remodeling to accommodate a Birdcall location like at a Denver location. It looks close to ready and I asked and apparently it should be operational by mid November and apparently will have their own staff. Nice to see progress happening with all their stores around the area, though still nice to have the easier locations for us to access with less planning than this big store.

Yelp
Quick stop for some lunch while heading up to Estes park. My daughter got some sushi and was very pleased with her rolls. I can't speak to too much else as this was a under five minute trip in and out, but it worked for what we needed!

Yelp
I love coming to this store In Boulder, an enclave of high expectations and high prices among the llama hair bennie wearing, dreadlocked yoga instructing public. Terrific for patties, coffee, and meats. Com'n get it and watch the show!

Yelp
This Whole Foods used to be good now all I see is empty shelves and old hot bar goods. I asked an employee why they are out of so much stuff, he said "supply issues, I'm sure Boulder won't starve" lol, and then proceeded to ring me up for $350 Whole paycheck but now the quality is in the toilet. Go to Trader Jo's, they don't Jack the price of eggs just because they can!

J G.

Yelp
Been going here years for lunch. For the last few months we noticed how the lunch hot bar seems to have less and less options. A whole island is now always left completely empty? Also noted, between noon and 1 there seems to be inconstant restocking of their offerings, empty pans, maybe due to employee shortage? Bring back the warm moist brisket from the past! No thanks- Birdcall, sushi, or pizza choice.

Yelp
Pearl St Whole Foods has been my place literally since they opened, and while things have slowly been going downhill with the Amazon purchase, I still basically enjoyed my one stop shop and the wonderful employees. They still had 90% of my heftly grocery bill....until recently, when they put in extra strong LED lights. I now have to spend a few minutes adjusting and focusing my eyes, the produce looks weirdly unnatural under this lighting, and I'm seriously worried about my son who has epilepsy getting a seizure. I used to love strolling through the beautiful produce section filled with natural light and a market place feel. I now divide my time between Natural Grocers and Ideal.

Paul H.

Yelp
Purchased a package of couscous that was labeled 5.8oz net weight. When I opened it to divide in half, the package of couscous INSIDE a plastic bag was only 5.6 oz and the date on the accompanying spice mixture was Sept 20023! Today is April 2024. And they claim they want my trust!!!

Yelp
Great until a few years ago. Now all brands are being replaced by cheap disgusting knock-offs (I'm guessing subsidiaries of WF) and at a more expensive price. The only benefit is the global corporations, of course. Billionaires get richer, and cereal boxes now include fake images with condescending captions like "enlarged to show yumminess." When did we stop calling a lie a lie; liars liars; and cons, cons? Again and again, humanity suffers for the profits of billionaires. It is disgusting. I've returned to Safeway.

Yelp
One of the best places to shop in Boulder, and it is because they have figured out how to manage a huge store and keep it feeling small and customer friendly. It starts with their parking lot, which is ginormous, and the store is located near the CU campus, a brief bus ride from the Pearl Street Pedestrian Mall, and it is only a short ride from both Highway 36 and the Diagonal. Google staffers work right across the street and many are regulars. Whole Foods is well-staffed, and their personnel has a good feel for their product and clientele. They are not your typical level of staffers that we are sadly getting used to in many stores. It is a full-service venue, complete with a terrific food selection that is a popular stop for many, offering healthy and tasty options throughout the day and evening. They have multiple dining areas within the store and also feature an outside section that has an awesome sun-drenched view of the Flatirons. Fresh sushi, a deli, soups, pizza, and numerous options highlight the east side of the store, with buffet-style offerings in abundance. The customer service is consistently outstanding, and Amazon Prime members catch great breaks on items throughout the store.

Yelp
Visiting what used to be one of our favorite stops in Boulder. Day one: tried to get some fresh stir-fry but they closed early. Day two: attempt #2, but stir-fry area is closed down due to 'being short-staffed.' Day three: It's a miracle!--they are open and making fresh food. I tell the person working the wok what I would like. She mumbles something unintelligible. I ask again, and she puts down a sheet of paper in front of me and walks away. I fill out what I want, and she proceeds to fill up the entire bowl with broccoli. I explain to her that I requested several vegetables and tofu. She murmurs something and walks away. Day 4: Discovered Lucky's Market in North Boulder. Great selection and service. Bye-bye Whole Foods.

Yelp
This was my first time interacting with the Boulder Pearl Street store....the manager, Josh, was beyond fantastic. He is the kind of manager that should represent all stores, everywhere. He helped me (I live afar) buy just the right orchid plant for my ailing friend by face timing (his suggestion) with me so that I could see the various size and color options -- he went above and beyond in kindness and taking care of Whole Foods customers. Professionalism, kindness and seeking best possible outcome. I rarely post reviews and this one was unsolicited.

Yelp
generally Whole Foods has good produce but have you ever bought strawberries and they just have no flavor? the strawberries I just bought from Whole Foods are absolutely bland. but I recently bought strawberries at Trader Joe's and they were delicious. generally TJs does not have the best produce but their strawberries are an exception.

Grit T.

Yelp
Disappointed with their customer service. It is definitely not the Whole Foods it used to be. I was supposed to get my order delivered between 2-4 pm today it's now 5 pm and still no food. My husband's uncle died and I was hoping to make him a nice dinner tonight after he returned from the funeral. The human who answered the phone said they couldn't help me because I placed my order through Amazon Prime. I can't get any service from Amazon Prime except for a non-human who left me hanging after steering me back to my Amazon Prime Order. The new world disorder.

Yelp
Huge Whole Foods with separate alcohol building. Everything you could want here. Prices are high like all Whole Foods so don't expect a deal. The store was clean and well organized. Staff you will have to find hiding chatting in aisles. This is a Whole Foods in Boulder so you will certainly meet some interesting characters. Great people watching while you overpay for groceries.

Yelp
This is the third day in a row that I have been to Whole Foods. This morning was the first time that I was informed of possible benefits as a Prime Member through the cashier named Susanne. She is exactly what you are looking for when you look for Good Customer Service she took her time to explain the connection between Amazon Prime and Whole Foods and also explain various deals going on in the store. The previous two days I've come in no other cashier has mentioned anything about this. As far as the food goes I'm starting to really enjoy a Beyond Burger and Vegan breakfast burrito.

Yelp
We came here around dinner time to grab a quick bite from the hot bar. We were expecting to see a larger selection. One of the hot bar lines was not even on/didn't have any food in it. My friend went ahead and ordered something warm from the Chinese counter, and I just picked on some things from the cold bar since there was nothing on the hot bar the looked fresh or anything like that. My issue with Whole Foods is that it is so incredibly expensive for what it is. Our two total meals were about $30.00 and I don't understand why. It really wasn't a lot of food. The Chinese food was way too saucy - and the sauce was so full of soy sauce and sugar. There really wasn't anything else in that meal. :( I would come back for small things but for a wallet, this is really a stretch.

Yelp
Wow this Whole Foods is a destination experience. I went specifically to check out the Biju's Little Curry Shop located in the fresh foods section on the east end of the store. Biju's has great Indian-inspired food options made from fresh ingredients prepared daily. Today there were great vindaloo, tika and curry options as well as specials on samosas and a beef masala. You can sample whatever looks interesting. Also Biju's does great tailored-menu options for catering events from 5-1000 attendees.

Yelp
I do a lot of shopping here but sadly today there is everything Christmas but nothing Hanukkah! There was a table near the fish counter with a Hanukkah sign and nothing on it! Get with it Whole Foods Boulder, the city Jewish population is 11%!

Yelp
I was refused purchase on two bottles of Kombucha. I am in my 40s. There is zero potential of me being under 21 years old. If your staff are incapable of discerning a 40-something year old is over 20, HIRE BETTER STAFF. How completely absurd. Lots of pink green and blue hair, not a lot of common sense. Seems to correlate. The hair color must be a warning sign.

Yelp
This is the largest Whole Foods I have ever been in! It offers so much and everything is so fresh, eye appealing and organized! There are employees everywhere available to help customers which is nice so you aren't waiting around looking for someone to help you. They have an entire bread area with the freshest bread, it was so good! We had our loaf sliced which only took a second, various samples of food including aged cheese are displayed throughout the store. They have a huge area dedicated to providing ready made meals as a Buffett style satisfying virtually any food cravings, again everything looks fresh & delicious! You can get your food to go or you can dine in for lunch as there is ample seating available. They have an express line, a Whole Foods app, reusable bags for purchase & an awesome outdoor play area for toddlers and children. The cashier asked me if I had linked Whole Foods to my amazon prime for additional saving on sale items, I was happy to learn about this and think it's great to add additional savings. I will definitely be back for lunch and more fruit soon!

Wulf M.

Yelp
Whole aka hire people who have no idea what they are doing foods. Literally waited in line 20 min because cashier literally has no idea what they were doing and turned on their help light 20 times. Why on earth do you have ppl working jobs they suck at. Not like your customers time is worth anytbing

Yelp
Is it any wonder that, according to Westword, this store had 16 positive cases amongst "staff"? Although the employees are undeniably courteous, they are scurrying around without any regard to "social distance", or the one way arrows in the produce aisles, filling orders for home delivery. I'm surprised we're not hearing that this store is a super spreader To be clear, I only mention this recent article in Westword for the sake of those who may be vulnerable with underlying issues who need to be extra cautious. I shop here all the time, have loved this store since it opened years ago, wear a mask, respect distance, etc. So, this rant is not about ME. I wrote it for YOU‼ Much like my mask wearing - even on the trails that I hike almost every day...I'm trying to do my best to model selfless behavior and point out any areas that may - emphasis on MAY - be an issue for someone else. Please Whole Foods... you were doing awesome here a few months ago. Let's get back to the good old days

Yelp
Out of all of the Whole Foods, this one is easily my favorite. It is much larger than the others and the hot bar and salad bar are unrivaled. The food is always fresh and hot and well maintained with anything you could want. The surrounding specific stations have mostly anything else with my favorites being the pizza and the ramen stations. The pizza is actually really good for its price, and the ramen station is even better with very good tasting broth and meats. I also really enjoy being able to pretty much build your own being able to gather things from the hot bar and theyll add em to anything for you if they dont have something specific youre looking for. The store is always stocked with everything and kept clean regardless of the time of day. Even going in during the peak times after work or during lunch you can still get in and out pretty quick. If you want any kind of food you want this is the place to do for fresh food, with a vast seafood and meat department and an even larger produce section which is great to get the rarer produce used in some dishes for cooking. Also for fresh pastas like ravioli and tortellini, there is no better place. Overall if you want it fresh this is your place.
google avatar

Datcy P.

Yelp
Ok, people. I don't think I'm alone here in my experience that Whole Foods is no longer Whole Foods! Even with the scammy prime membership "bonuses", if you're really looking at your bottom line, things are not only more expensive but many other things I appreciated about Whole Foods are tanking! Items no longer available, price HIKES!!!, (not what we were promised!), um? The staff? Did they all of a sudden hire people who don't give a shit? I mean eye rolling, walking the other way when they see you -'and generally not being able to answer questions the way they used to anymore .... the list gets longer every time I go there! Such a disappointment. The only reason I gave two instead of one stars is bc I still have to use them for certain items Such a bummer!

Steve C.

Yelp
The downtown Boulder Store on 28th really disappoints in the bread section. Why are they wrapping all that fresh artisan break in Plastic all day? It is the worst thing you can do for crust, or any decent bread. It's actually a sin in France. Google "How to store fresh bread". Your picture on the website shows all your bread unwrapped and fresh. Not what I found here today. Ideal Market on Broadway (Whole Foods) did that many years ago and I stopped going there. Please change this! Seafood department however is fantastic with Ricardo being the best of the bunch and a travel expert as well.
google avatar

Christian B.

Yelp
This review is for the prepared foods section only and not the grocery section. Fresh, hot, delicious and they have everything and anything you want, pizza, asian, mexican, indian, bbq, salad, hot foods and desert bar, they also have a wide variety of weird vegan and gluten free foods. You could eat there everyday for a month and still not have eaten everything!
google avatar

Knox R.

Yelp
I eat here 4 times a week. The staff is friendly and professional. If you are looking for food that tastes great, and you don't have to question the quality of the ingredients, this place is a must.
google avatar

Tracey R.

Yelp
Hands down the best whole foods I've been to. The produce is excellent - fresh, lots of organic options, well presented and labeled items (for those who like to be informed). There is something here for everyone. The coffee was also fantastic with a huge selection. Staff were super helpful, chatty and friendly.
google avatar

Julien J.

Yelp
This is the Best Whole Food ever!!!! This place is so big and so busy. Large quality choice with a big turnover!
google avatar

Amber M.

Yelp
This is an especially large Whole Foods and as such it has a nice selection. I was able to find everything I needed and the staff was friendly and welcoming. As always with Whole Foods, be sure to check the prices because some things that seem like they wouldn't be expensive will surprise you. I nearly bought an $8 bar of soap simply because I never expected a bar of soap to cost so much. As long as you pay attention and stick to your shopping list, this is a good place to buy key, specialized items. It is not a good place to buy a full load of groceries, at least not for me. Overall, a useful place that is good for spot shopping.

Faye D.

Yelp
Love all Whole Foods but this Whole Foods is great. Great vegan options, fresh salad bar and has almost everything we're looking for. Super friendly staff, especially Sean the cashier-- he's so personal and works super hard. Love how we have the option to donate the bag credit, just wish the money went to the homeless population in Boulder-- but I believe the donations are changed on a monthly basis. I also wish Whole Foods would $$ match the bag credits and stay open until 11... gotta get my late night snacks! Update: just want to say, William the cashier was SO nice to me on my birthday. Thank you for making my day, William!

Yelp
I really want to give WF Boulder a better rating. HOWEVER, there are a few things that make me give this a 1 ( I would actually do 1.5). First of all, when Amazon took over and they said they were lowering prices, HA! One of the things we (used to) buy was the 365 brand peanut butter pretzels. They went up 72%!!! From $2.50 to $4.29. Really??? That is ridiculous! Then, we also loved their rice sticks (like sesame sticks) in the bulk department. They got discontinued. I noticed a lot of other stuff was discontinued as well - they had an amazing lemon balsamic that was soo good. Cannot find it anymore. Almost everything is stupid expensive. The pizza, which used to be ok, is crap. So greasy. Even my 10 year old says its too greasy. They used to serve Bhakti Chai at the coffee shop but dont anymore. And don't even get me started on the wait time of the stir fry station. I have lived in Boulder a long time and used to love WF now every time we go now it is $50 for 2 salads and a small soup. Pros - their bread is still good.

Kathy G.

Yelp
Another example of poor quality food. Amazon doesn't care . Deli veg fish! Salad bar can be so poor. No quality control
google avatar

Adriana N.

Yelp
I've always loved this whole foods in boulder especially for the variety of products they can offer...even more so for getting "fresh" seafood. Well, today it ended for me and my husband...we bought some oysters from here (in the hope that they are fresh of course )...we didn't even wait to eat them home ... we just eat them in the store (they always suggest to eat them in less than four hours). Now, both of us, my husband and I, are sick as a dog. Puking and diarrhea. I am pretty sure they were not all bad...but I am pretty sure the guy who selected them and opened them for us didn't care to chose the healthy ones. I am very upset as we just feel extremely miserable. Be careful what you eat there. Keep an eye on everything. I left the guy alone to cut them as he said it will take some time and I went back to pick them up 10min later....I wish I was them and pick them myself...

Yelp
Just had a green chili chicken burrito. This thing was beyond disgusting. First no green chili, zero. This thing was so I dry it was not edible. A few scraps of left over rotisserie chicken (god only knows how old it was). Tons of unflavored white rice and dried beans. Who ever is running to prepared food area either doesn't care or is part of the mindless Amazon drones.

Yelp
The absolute worst thing about this Whole Foods is the parking lot. There seems to be some sort of invisible cloak hanging over the place that transforms seven out of ten drivers into road raging loons once they enter the place. Parking there can be about as terrifying as getting across one of those self-controlled intersections in Ethiopia. People will pull out of spaces without looking, cut you off in order to sneak into the spot you have been waiting for or park their extra large SUVs in one and a half spaces instead of the designated spot between the white lines. If you manage to get yourself safely into the store, congratulations! The atmosphere in the store is a strange mix of primarily surly customers and extremely friendly workers. If you thought your worries were over once you left the parking lot, you are sadly mistaken. Navigating the aisles is about as tricky as driving during rush hour in Los Angeles. In such a nice place, I'm not sure why most of the people shopping are perpetually scowling, but it doesn't set a very nice tone. Definitely avoid going shopping there if you are on crutches. People don't like to wait, and impatience followed by eye rolls and heavy sighs are the norm. God forbid you get between a hungry customer and her wheat grass smoothie. Complaints aside, the store itself is nice. The salad bar is one of the best in the area, and the cheese section is phenomenal. Since I love cheese, I stop here often. Those who work behind the counter know their products, and they are always willing to offer samples. The overall variety in the store is exceptional, and the shelves are always well stocked. I appreciate that there's a lot of turnover, so you almost never come home with a product past its expiration or "sell by" date. The bakery is hit or miss. Sometimes the bread and pastries look great; other times, the rolls are burnt and the croissants flat. The cafe seats are extra hard and uncomfortable, and it seems like the dining area is always cold. Extra benches can be found near the cashiers, though, and those are much more comfortable. Lastly, yes, it is expensive. I don't need to make any hackneyed jokes about the prices, but you can find equally high prices in many other health food stores around town.

Yelp
This place is the best whole foods in colorado. Large store ,super clean and organized, very friendly stuff. So many different kinds of delicious prepared foods, and a committed staff that doesn't seem to slack off . I love their soup selection, my favorite is chicken tortilla soup. 5star rating well deserved.

Karyn S.

Yelp
Dear WF, amazon hasn't done you any favors. You're no longer relevant! Other than for prepared food. You no longer stock the local chai I drink, you no longer have the local tinctures I use. Just 2 more reasons for me to stop going in.
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Love the Cafe area!!! Literally has all of the "needs" you would need to make you feel at home. All the hot sauces, ketchups, mustards, soy sauces, cutlery in both plastic and metal, microwave, toaster, free wiFi, wash area, etc
google avatar

Shelby H.

Yelp
I hate even having to write this review since I am a long time fan and frequent patron of many WF locations. However, this location falls seriously short of my usual experiences. For starters, THERE ARE NO CARTS. Every time I have been so far (4 times) we have had to search the parking lot for a cart with no employee assistance. Next, employees do not seem as knowledgeable or helpful as usual. For example, when we asked one where a cart might be, he literally TOLD us to search the parking lot and walked away. Disappointing.

Yelp
So, this is a review of one of the made-to-order restaurants inside Whole Foods, specifically the stir-fry bowl place. Food: fresh. Price: a bit expensive. Service: Poor. Overall Experience: Not Worth It. What made the Service and Overall Experience so bad? The attitude of the service staff, who was miffed to have to answer a question about the order. Seemed to just hate his job. The heck with that. There are so many other good choices to eat in Boulder, no need to go back to Whole Foods.

Yelp
Useful and ultrafriendly vibe to be found here. But really, frozen organic blueberry waffles? Does anyone else here find this sadly ironic? Perhaps, more sad, I bought these, and found them suitably delicious. Needless to say, it has some of the best fish selections, free-range beef, etc., an upgrade over Safeway or Sooper's. I dare the managers of Whole Foods to label their non-organic produce 'pesticidal' instead of their more euphemistic moniker 'conventional'.

Yelp
Okay, Whole Foods is tough for me to review because I really, really hate how they've taken over the organic market with their snobby sense of entitlement and superiority. I hate their stupid newsletter and their insistence that they've got the best organic food in the world. I hate that a shopping trip there never costs less than $20 even if you just buy two carrots and a lemonade. I especially hate how they insist that they're not expensive, because COME ON. HOW CAN YOU DENY THIS? I miss Wild Oats and Ideal Market and I'm sad that they're gone because of the new monopoly of Whole Foods. However. These are all complaints about the business philosophy of Whole Foods. This particular Whole Foods is the one to go to, if you're going to choose Whole Foods. It's HUGE (and about to be huger somehow, after it expands into the old Barnes and Noble location) and has an amazing, I mean, AMAZING seafood section. They have sashimi grade tuna, yellowtail, salmon, and sometimes octopus. They have fish I've never heard of. And the seafood guys aren't shy about giving you a taste. Actually, every employee there without exception is helpful and friendly. They'll offer their opinions on any food item you ask about (and they'll be honest opinions, not just, 'oh yeah, that's really good!') and give you samples of whatever's possible to give you samples of. Once I asked after the difference between two kinds of cherries, and the produce guy slapped a 'sample' sticker on the more expensive kind (which got me the bag for free). These cherries probably would have cost me 12 dollars. Another time they were out of my favorite kind of tortillas and a nearby guy told me to try his favorite kind, and slapped a sample sticker on them. Sweet! So there's no competing with this location for variety. They have everything any Whole Foods has, and on Sundays you can get fat off their samples alone. They host neat events like chili cook-offs and picnic samplers. Even though it's always packed, the cashiers work like crazy to keep their lines staffed and moving fast. There's nothing bad I can say about the employees or the efficiency or the selection. But I have to balance all of that with my opinion of Whole Foods in general... hence the three stars.

Yelp
This is the Whole Foods to go to in Boulder! It's big, clean, and friendly! The bulk session alone is worth checking out. They also had a diverse tea section, so much so that I picked up two boxes of tea that I was not planning to get originally. They have several prepared food options, including a pizzeria and the standard salad bar area. There is a large dining area, so I had no trouble finding a place to sit.
