As far as Wholefoods experiences go, this one would rank as my least favorite.
First, the store is small. When I arrived on a Tuesday morning not even 30 minutes after they opened, I was greeted with much of the produce section blocked by pallets and boxes of food being restocked. In all the years I have shopped at Wholefoods across the country, I have never seen anything like it. This is something that should have been done BEFORE the store opened, not while customers are shopping. It made for a safety hazard and just an annoying experience.
Then, they didn't have much inventory - some Wholefoods classic that I look for when I'm shopping at a Wholefoods store, such as their fresh squeezed orange juice. This place doesn't carry it at all. The seafood and meat counter didn't offer much. When I looked for turkey bacon, there was only ONE option available to me, period.
It was sad. No, pathetic.
If this store's regular patrons saw what a real Wholefoods looks like, they might lose it. They are truly missing out.
What I did like:
1. Easy access to the highway and downtown Detroit
2. Plenty of free parking
That's about it. I get that not every market likes everything, so inventory options are controlled by the scanning numbers, what the masses like. I get all that, but for the things management can control, like when inventory is replenished, they can do better with that. I should not have to walk around pallets and boxes. That's crazy.
