23 Employees of the Midtown Detroit Whole Foods Market Grocery Store Test Positive for COVID-19 - Eater Detroit

"A COVID-19 outbreak involving at least 23 employees of a Whole Foods Market on Mack Avenue in midtown Detroit has been confirmed by the company and the Detroit Health Department. The store has since reopened. It employs 196 people. Sources speaking under condition of anonymity told Daily Detroit Thursday three quarters of the employees working Tuesday evening tested positive for the virus via rapid tests. The store closed within an hour after receiving the test results. All other employees were offered rapid tests by the city’s department of health. Employees who tested positive will not be allowed to work until they produce a negative test result. A spokesperson for Whole Foods later confirmed the early closing time due to the positive tests results and confirmed a number of employees at the Midtown store have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the pandemic began last March. The Mack Avenue location limits capacity inside and prioritizes customers 60 years and older, high risk individuals, and people with disabilities on Friday mornings. Staff and customers are required to wear masks inside the store." - BethMcKibben

Whole Foods Worker Sends Mass Email Calling for Hazard Pay | Eater

"At the start of the pandemic the chain instituted temporary protections like hazard pay and more flexible sick time, but most of those benefits were quietly ended by summer; with a severe winter wave underway, frontline employees are pushing for their return. A Detroit team member circulated an email demanding reinstated $2/hour hazard pay, health benefits for part-time staff, expanded PTO, reinstatement of a previous dress policy that allowed workers to wear shirts supporting causes such as Black Lives Matter, and mandatory customer masking, and said union pins would be distributed to show support. The message criticizes company leadership for not sharing pandemic-era gains with workers and argues that the employer’s existing measures are insufficient. A company spokesperson said leadership is listening and pointed to a $450 million investment in safety measures and benefits, and reporting was later updated to note the employee email was not sent company-wide." - Jaya Saxena

Google
One of the worst WFM stores I’ve visited. The place looks filthy inside and out, the employees are rough around the edges, including the seafood department which tends to have really well informed staff. The eating area is basically a long table crammed next to the Amazon returns area, and the bathrooms are filthy…

Whole foods standards and variety should be the same from state to state. This is unacceptable and it's fully staffed. Where's management? Is the plan to shut down? Stores crowded and not clean. It's 5:15pm, foods not stirred, dried up and smells like burnt food. When asked if offerings will be restocked, told no and the store closes in 5 more hours... Staff is friendly though.

It’s always been a pleasure going to whole Foods in mid town Detroit. The staff is always very polite and courteous. They always ask if I need anything or if I need help looking for something if I kind of stop and wait for a minute before I make a selection. I went in this particular day to return something to Amazon and they were just extremely helpful. It is just a good feeling going in there getting good wholesome foods.

Google
I love that you can get great food, and also they have good customer service with a lot of different kiosk machines for different purposes, fast paised, security , change machines. And great food variety and helpful workers throughout the market. It's a good quick stop for multiple purposes also you can get your car tabs renewed in less than 5 mins at this location.

Google
I almost came to make fun of how expensive Whole Foods is but actually ended up leaving feeling soooo excited about the food I was about to eat. I recommend the $2.25 tarts at the bakery and that you can take an entire loaf of bread and have it cut into slices!

Google
This was a very well stocked store. My first experience with the soup bar. The chicken tortilla was delicious, as well as the lemon raspberry tart. The produce was very inviting, and I enjoyed the variety of herbal teas available. The checkout experience was quick, and I was pleasantly surprised with the Amazon Prime discount.

This is without a doubt the saddest Whole Foods I have been to - and I have visited many of the stores in big cities and suburbs in Texas, Florida, California, North Carolina, Georgia, and other locations. Parking is extremely difficult - prepare to park in the overflow in the garage, walk to the store, and then ask for validation upon checkout. Many of the food items were empty or aging - even at peak lunch hour. No extra wasabi available because sushi is “brought in by an outside vendor.” Many of the lunch meats were unavailable. The spots were there for things like roast beef, just empty. Shelves had holes missing products. The pastry case was almost completely empty, with three cakes available and almost no pastries like cupcakes Sold out midday? Hot food looked old, with crusts forming along the edges and a minuscule selection. I was approached by a man soliciting money from me in one of the aisles within two minutes of entering the store., but three employees walked by me, making eye contact but not offering help while I waited patiently at the deli counter. Whole Foods also usually has good sales on select items, but yellow tags here were almost nonexistent. Of course I anticipate a reduced selection at a small inner city store like this, but the emptiness and age of the food made this a wasted trip. I’d suggest visiting a different location in the metro Detroit area.

Google
As far as Wholefoods experiences go, this one would rank as my least favorite. First, the store is small. When I arrived on a Tuesday morning not even 30 minutes after they opened, I was greeted with much of the produce section blocked by pallets and boxes of food being restocked. In all the years I have shopped at Wholefoods across the country, I have never seen anything like it. This is something that should have been done BEFORE the store opened, not while customers are shopping. It made for a safety hazard and just an annoying experience. Then, they didn't have much inventory - some Wholefoods classic that I look for when I'm shopping at a Wholefoods store, such as their fresh squeezed orange juice. This place doesn't carry it at all. The seafood and meat counter didn't offer much. When I looked for turkey bacon, there was only ONE option available to me, period. It was sad. No, pathetic. If this store's regular patrons saw what a real Wholefoods looks like, they might lose it. They are truly missing out. What I did like: 1. Easy access to the highway and downtown Detroit 2. Plenty of free parking That's about it. I get that not every market likes everything, so inventory options are controlled by the scanning numbers, what the masses like. I get all that, but for the things management can control, like when inventory is replenished, they can do better with that. I should not have to walk around pallets and boxes. That's crazy.

Yelp
This for a while was the only viable market for downtown Detroit dwellers. It's clean, fresh and the staff is eagar to answer questions. It has a midtown vibe which I like. For a bit the lines at checkout were unbearable, however that that been aided with more employees at the registers. Enjoy the Foid bar and the Bakery. The customer base is friendly for the most part

Yelp
I've been a customer here since they opened and the fanfare is well deserved! They make sure to carry locally-sourced products. There's always something new to try here and they play good music for the diverse community that they serve. The restrooms are clean and on the second floor along with a community room for activities.

Yelp
Although pretty busy I moved through the long line fairly efficiently. Staff is friendly. Good selection and close to the freeway.

Yelp
The food here is ok. I don't like the meat that much though. Kinda shotty, and the steak I got was extremely chewy the other night. I bought some packed meat thing too, and I threw it out without even using it once I opened it. The service is ok, overpriced. I feel they could do better
google avatar

Marielle M.

Yelp
They don't have everything I need, but their produce is pretty good and they have a decent variety for the size of the store. They carry violife vegan cheeses which the meijer off of jefferson doesn't so that's very helpful. The parking lot is nice to have, it's not very big but it doesn't seem to be too busy in there.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the most terrible Whole Foods ever. It's super small. You can never find anything. The meat market -- the fish you want is never thawed and the workers are rude. Be prepared to go to another store after you leave here!

Ramier D.

Yelp
Store itself is fine; I do think having security patrol Aisles while people are shopping for groceries is a very uncomfortable feeling with an emphasis on my experience tonight. Which then makes one ask what is the stores policy on this matter; like how does one decipher the people who steal from those just shopping and whom to follow throughout the store to check that thought? and to what end does it go? frankly on the occasions that you are wrong the store runs the risk of making a person who shops there feel extremely uncomfortable ( hence myself) I can assure you this is not how you wanna feel when your just running out to grab a couple of AMYs Bowls and some liquid multipliers (mushroom Risotto haha) I do in fact have my 40 buck reciept so we can prove tonights experience was unwarranted; but with it know a customer who has lived in Capitol Park and shopped at this market the last 3 years felt Very Uncomfortable with his shopping experience and it is my hope that the store along with the security guys patrolling whom I now refer to as "The Renegade Red Vests" can come up with a better practice that can ensure both safety of "us" customers and prevent theft; without going on Salem witch hunts with its very own patrons local or not.

Yelp
I wish there was one of these Downriver. Because I would looooove to avail their seafood. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!

Yelp
I usually love Whole Foods. Today I went to deli counter and ordered a few things including spinach pie. WORST spinach pie I HAVE EVER HAD. Only spinach between the Philo dough and a FEW pieces of feta. Who taught this person to make spinach pie? No eggs, no parmesan let alone barely any spinach. No onions. HORRIBLE. I didn't want stewed spinach. YUCK!!!

Yelp
Just like a typical Detroit Lions season, this is one of the most disappointing, if not the most disappointing Whole Foods location I have been to. I have been to a handful in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul and some in the Greater Toronto Area and this is by far the worst one out of them all. First of all, there is a lack of selection here compared to other stores I have been to. The small store size in comparison to other locations should already raise suspicions. Most likely, products you want would likely not be found here because most of the shelves are empty or they unnecessarily overcharge, and don't bother getting any fruit products from here - they certainly didn't look fresh, ripe or high quality at all. At least from my experience. Secondly, the area is not the greatest or safest. Despite being near a hospital and modern-ish buildings, the surrounding area is rather sketchy and does not present a positive vibe for the store environment. You certainly do not want to have the lingering thought of being attacked or someone breaking into your car on you. I won't be back at this location and will look towards other Whole Foods locations within the Metro Detroit area. The one big positive about this location is the staff here are very friendly and helpful. I do want to put that out because my experience here was not all negative. However, I still do not think driving two hours from London, Ontario was not worth it at all. I came to this location thinking it would be better than the locations in Toronto. Boy, was I wrong! Next time, I think I will just go to Toronto to do my Whole Foods shopping there. In fact, watching the Lions fail miserably at nearby Ford Field would be a better choice of activity rather than come to this Whole Foods location.

Yelp
This is a busy whole foods close to the hospital and university not to mention a busy street. Smaller parking lot and a smaller store in general compared to other ones i've been to, the selection is limited and they tend to be out of a lot, but the smoothie area is pretty good they make delicious drinks. I've been here a few times and they are out of what i need and still have to drive out to the other whole foods
google avatar

Yelp
What a disappointment. It's the closest Whole Foods to my location, and I had an appointment in Detroit so thought this was a good opportunity to check it out. In the past, I've been going to the store in A2 off A2/Saline Road (Main) and love it. This place, had NONE of the things that I wanted. Whole milk, grass fed, Greek yogurt; chocolate on sale (there is always SOMETHING in the chocolate isle on sale in the A2 location); and this amazing cheese I always get. I went at a time that wasn't popular, so the parking was fine. I mentioned the lack of products I was looking for to the check-out person and she really didn't listen at all (or if she did, she sure didn't give a sh*t.) Overall really bummed that this place stinks. Dearborn has crap for grocery stores, so would have been nice to at least have this store to go to on occasion. Not worth the trip.

Yelp
I've had nothing but good experiences here, from their hot food bar to groceries to baked goods. Our most recent experiences were with the bakery - the cakes and treats are very reasonably priced and very yummy! We have a tough crowd, and they love the vanilla and berries cake. It's so soft and fluffy and delicious. Their mini key lime pies are also crazy good, as well as the mini pecan pies and mousse cups. The cake fed 20 people and is only $24.99.

Yelp
There's really no point going here anymore. I give up. I'll drive 20 miles to the next one. Empty shelves everywhere. Didn't come close to acquiring all the ingredients I needed for dinner. Including some spices. How are they out of half their spices? No matter what, no matter what day you shop, or what time of day, you won't get everything you need on your trip. The store is too small. They don't carry as much as other locations. The neighborhoods surrounding this WFs are growing. So it's going to get worse. More demand, not enough supply. They need a bigger store.
google avatar

Ted J.

Yelp
They had everything I was looking for, fruits, vegetables, Stevia, at a reasonable price, especially for being inside of a food desert. The only issue is there may be a loiterer in the parking lot trying to scam for money. There was a anglo lady with a black lives matter shirt today scamming for money.

Yelp
Detroits newest full-service supermarket in the medical center. A great selection of vegetables. Loads of beers and wines of all types. Full service dinner to-go includes hot pizza, a full French Bakery, and of course the famous Whole Foods Serve Yourself bars. The way you select your meal is totally up to you. The full-service Delicatessen counter offers precooked favorites such as different varieties of stuffed chicken breast, pasta salads, fresh lasagna, fresh varieties of hummus, all sorts of vegan and vegetarian favorites; as well as the occasional turkey entrees. I love the juice bar which offers all my favorites from Florida. If you'd like to have a taste or a sample of one of the cheeses just asked and they will gladly slice and repackage to your portion request. Fresh seasonal and exotic vegetables galore; from the door and all types of salads and bins ready to go. A lovely small selection of flowers and plants right by the door reminds you to treat yourself right. I love their Health & Beauty section which is always attended to by a friendly face; willing to help you find what you're looking for. Their 365 brand of lotions and soaps is value priced especially when paired with an essential oil; easily located in the same area. I like the soap slices. Treat yourself to a different slice every time you come and you will find your favorite. They have Dr Bronner's in formulas and smells I have only recently discovered. This store is usually busy from the time they open until they close the door. Be a little patient especially if you're coming in during high traffic times, because everyone is here for the same thing. Thank you Whole Foods for building the newest supermarket in my neighborhood I really appreciate it.

Yelp
Salad bar: 8/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Employees: 6/10 Parking lot: -200/10 I wish they had a bar like some others, and I wish the parking here didn't blow so hard.

Sydney S.

Yelp
I come here almost every time I need anything parking lot is small but still really nice and you can park in the parking garage which is inside of the parking lot.

Anthony C.

Yelp
Lol people tripping giving 1 star reviews for this spot. First and foremost this is not in the "ghetto" as a previous review says. It's right off woodward in an amazing area of midtown. The spot is small and of course comes with lower selection but generally always stocked up. The parking lot here does suck but it's a major city and can't be that upset over a parking spot. I'm just glad there's good groceries under 10 min away from downtown.
google avatar

Caity G.

Yelp
Went here to complete an Amazon return. I stood at the customer service desk for 10 minutes while no one was there. Three employees all walked by without asking what I needed or getting anyone to provide assistance. I set my box in the counter since I was returning a somewhat heavy item. When someone finally showed up, a woman by the name of Adrienne, she immediately said "ma'am you can't have your box on the counter take it off." And in my 10 minutes of waiting prior to her arriving I read every sign at that counter and nothing said no box on the counter, and she wasn't there earlier to tell me otherwise. Her tone was rude, the process would have been much easier at a UPS had Amazon given me that option. I do my grocery shopping here and have to say this fresh round of employees isn't the greatest.
google avatar

Tom K.

Yelp
Amazon, if you're listening hear this: The Whole Foods in Midtown Detroit was a wonderful store until you guys got in the mix. It now runs out of the most basic items (eggs, milk, veggies) regularly. The hot food bar has gone down in selection and quality. Making regional decisions about how much you stock and menu of hot bar for a downtown store doesn't work for us Un-do what you have done! We need our wonderful store back!
google avatar

Kelsea D.

Yelp
Always a pleasant experience shopping at Whole Foods. While I won't shop here for my side dishes but I will definitely shop here for items like my meat because it is always fresh and tasty. If I could give there buffet style lunch/dinner 0 stars I would. In my opinion it was very enjoyable. I'd never recommend eating there. I have yet to try their pizza. The bakery on the other hand is a different story, it is delicious. From the blueberry scones to the chocolate chip cookies it's all very delicious. I can't stop in Whole Foods without buying at least one item from the bakery.
google avatar

Shahzeb T.

Yelp
Helpful and friendly staff I saw employees smiling at every counter which is really hard to find these days but the store is a bit pricey but I think the service makes up for it, they have good collect of almost everything snd live food counters are pretty nice, all in all good place
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
This is a smaller Whole Foods than most others. They have the typical items most people are looking for. I browsed for a while and chose a few things before heading to the deli. I came in today to try the Smoky TTLA sandwich that is causing the craze on social media. The sandwich is made of fakin' bacon tempeh strips, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and roasted garlic vegenaise. I had it on marbled bread and added roasted peppers and onions. The sandwich is very good but pricey which is in line with most Whole Food items. This location is very busy. The parking lot can be dangerous so watch out and then watch some more.
google avatar

Shana L.

Yelp
This Whole Foods is one the smaller size compared to other ones I've been in. Nonetheless I found everything I was looking for and more. The staff was very informative and answered my questions.
google avatar

Tyra N.

Yelp
I don't check-in each visit because I'm captivated once I enter. The fresh produce colors, the bags and hand made items, the smoothie bar, the use of wood and class to take the industrial feeling out of the shopping experience. You get to feel like people make and grow your food here even if it is factory farmed. The water available and everything feeling accessible makes you want to stay for more than what you need. In summer and warmer temps sitting on the big picnic tables accomplishes what other grocery stores attempt: inviting you for lunch. This location is rather busy and I don't think that will change. The student, medical and business crowd don't have many options that offer what WF offers in Detroit. I'll admit I felt some type of way about WF coming to Midtown after decades of being a food desert but I am glad we have the option now. My biggest and almost only complaint is parking. It's a zoo. They should have built a structure, although it would have obstructed the view. It's musical cars so be prepared to wait 15-20 mins for a spot. You could pay to park in the structure but I think parking should be free. Check out is a breeze, I've never waited too long even in a lengthy line. The service is efficient and friendly. They know their shit. The food bar is well kept and has the variety to comfort many tastes. The coffee bar and bulk items are good for their size too. The layout is familiar to other WF locations. The same with the brands and prices. I find what I need and the employees are very helpful. No bougie or cranky hipster jerks that scoff at your lack of fiber knowledge. They welcome questions and treat you like a guest. This is a cool spot.

Chuck B.

Yelp
Man I don't even know where to start. This is the ghetto of downtown Detroit. It's an absolute wreck here. The parking is also a wreck. The premade foods used to be great, now it's subpar and disgusting. It even looks disgusting. Don't go here in a pinch cause the chances of them having what you want in stock is slim to none. Staff isn't bad though, they at least got the hiring right.

Lynette R.

Yelp
All I requested was tbe customer agent to cut me a loaf of bread. I" m a senior citzen who does not know how a task how to cut,and bagged a loaf of bread. While I asked, repeatedly for the customer agent to help me, she fefused, smile. And walked away, and told me to do her job. I"m a senior citizen who only asked for assistance. she just looked at me and smile.

Ada Nicole S.

Yelp
This is my favorite Whole food store. It is always clean and everyone is super nice. all of the stores should be like this one.

Jonny M.

Yelp
Smaller than their other locations, but really appreciate having their selection here in Midtown. Over the last few months, the staff has seemed to be feeling the effects of all the craziness in the world - whether this revolves around covid or amazon owning them who knows... Note the store layout is tight and they have a lot of staff running around trying to fill pick-up/delivery orders. They always have whatever you're searching for, and they've redone their ready to go food section to deal with covid; greatly appreciated.
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
Whenever you travel by car in this State and arrive at your destination with the same % of the vehicle you left with it is clear miraculous forces are at work. The parking lot of this store is immune to such miraculous forces. It is irony upon irony, The lot is filled with people driving cars, who clearly can't drive cars. The lot is so bad it deserves its own yelp review.
google avatar

Shardae R.

Yelp
This is a smaller Whole Foods location. Even though it's small they have all sections you see in a Whole Foods, but more compact. Everything is nice and clean. They have the hot food section that goes by the lbs. Also the salad bar and the cheese counter at the back. I believe the fish section, fresh meat is back there as well. Also, there is seating if you would like to eat there.

Ken F.

Yelp
I have gotten too many vegetables that had mold or went bad shortly after I bought them.
google avatar

Raphie B.

Yelp
I'm thrilled to see a Whole Foods in the city. The parking lot is jam-packed (but I expect that will dissipate as the store gets a bit older and people stop coming by just to see it and fall into regular shopping patterns), so they offer free (with validation) overflow parking in the structure next door. They've got a little smoothie bar (oddly located in the customer service desk) and all the normal Whole Foods accoutrements that you would expect (salad bar, prepared foods, hot food bar, bakery, etc). It's a bit smaller than the typical Whole Foods, but it's still great. I split my time between the northern burbs and downriver and for the time when I'm downriver, this store is a godsend.

Claude J.

Yelp
Awful store. Avoid ! I went there today and there was not a shopping cart or hand basket available.
google avatar

Mel B.

Yelp
Thank you, thank you, thank you Whole Foods for coming to the city of Detroit...so glad your here! And I'm sure the Canadians are happy as well;) Giving them only 4 stars instead of 5 just because this is a smaller store and not everything I love from the other stores is in here. Love how they decorated the inside with the Motown records at the check out areas and just showcasing Detroit. Clean organized store, helpful staff. Great but smaller than other stores soup and hot food selection. Nice but small bakery. Fruit and Veggies are top notch. Lots of Cheeses, good and fresh meat selection. Lots of locale items which I'm always looking out for. They also offer yoga and have a community room.
google avatar

Arthur J.

Yelp
This is my first time visiting Detroit and this Whole Foods is the first store I've been in. Let me tell you, it was POPPING. There were people EVERYWHERE stocking and making sure the place was in order. The food selection was as to be expected. The fresh food section was awesome. Despite there being tons of people everywhere, I was able to get all my groceries and get out in under fifteen minutes. The security here was also great!
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Great store. As always a little pricey but quality is worth it. Parking absolutely sucks and the inside can be like a zoo with Detroit hipsters wandering around cluelessly and med students who think they own the world! Avoid anytime of rush hour like after work during the week especially.
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
I love the local vibe: -They stock local goods -They stock local goods from small businesses. -They offer yoga -They have a community room. I like the hot food bar and occasional pop up weekend omelet bar (create your own omelet cooked by a chef for $4). I like the friendly staff and the feeling of D-town love. I've grown to enjoy the organic variety of everything! They have a great little wine selection and gourmet cheese. I am a fan of the store and love the events that they host for the community. I am excited to try Sunday evening Vinyasa and Friday night tastings.
google avatar

Yelp
Weirdly small/condensed/edgy compared to the rest of the Whole Foods stores on the planet. It's still a positive for medical staff and other people in the area though.
google avatar

Keith D.

Yelp
Pure AWESOMENESS!! Everything is fresh and wholesome here. Today I tried some of their hot food items. The potatoes and the Asian chicken was great. My friend had vegan Mac and cheese. It was okay for vegan food.
google avatar

Yelp
I went to Whole Foods yesterday for opening day. I live only a couple blocks away so I was so excited for the grand opening! I was not expecting it to be as crowded as it was -- I went at 10am and then again at 4pm -- yes, I was that excited :) Both times I went, there were tons of people around trying all the free samples and listening to the music playing in the parking lot. The inside of the store was pretty easy to navigate, even with so many people crowded around. I didn't spend too long in the store, since I wanted to just grab what I needed real quick and then be on my way, but the workers were helpful in helping me find some spices I needed and sent me through the checkout line quickly and efficiently. I can't wait to take a few more trips here :) so far, looks great!
google avatar

Brandie H.

Yelp
This Whole Foods has a less expensive salad bar and prepared food items than the other stores it's like $1 less/ pound. There are also less options so they may not have everything you are looking for if you're use to the larger variety salad bar and prepared food items from the bigger Whole Food stores. I frequently shop at Whole Foods and tend to find everything I need at this store. And I've been to all of them many times the only set back is that it is smaller so the variety of each individual item is smaller too, but I'm just happy that there is one in Detroit.

Yelp
A Grocery Store in the City!! (Now there's a refreshing concept :) This place makes the Cut. I frequently make power Shakes to snack on. Unfortunately, i am always low on Yellow Bananas. Prior to Whole Foods, my experience would go like this: 1) Go to Aldi's (in HighlandPark).... but sometimes the Bananas are All Green. 2) Then onto some other shady grocery store.... BROWN bananas. 3) Then onto another sketchy grocery place.... No Bananas!! ~In the End, i sometimes end up at my local Liquor Store and have to pay 50 CENTS per Banana!! Goood Grief... What a Hassle!!! Now you can understand WHY im excited about this Place. i give This place 5 STARS... JUST for having YELLOW Bananas! (Your Mileage May Vary :) But... if i have to complain (a little) about one thing: the PArking here is a ZOO. Its ALWAYS a fight to find a spot. Fortunately, WHoleFoods is right next to a Big Parking Garage.. and they Subsidize your ticket! So there 'is' a place to park (but i never do because thats tooo far to walk!). Instead i shop during Non-Peak hours (Avoid the after-work/evening rush). ~VK

Excellent Whole Foods. I got some shrimp from the seafood section, she had shrimp cocktail sauce and a little cup. Most Whole Foods do not have that when you order from there sea food from the counter. The salad bar needed spinach and some better looking greens I asked the employee on duty he immediately fixed it. They have a nice area to sit and eat above the grocery store. They sold wine but not beer unfortunately, unless I couldn't find it but I looked up and down the store.

Yelp
Whole Foods Market this Ice/Water Machine has been down at this location my last 3 visits...so for almost the last MONTH. And the alternate water fountain is disgusting ! So this is what it'll be like since Amazon took over ?

Yelp
What's better than having an organic supermarket right in the heart of midtown detroit? Not much! It's pricier than going to walmart in Dearborn or Saturdays Eastern Market. But it's much more convenient, open everyday, and has almost everything you need, from a toothbrush for an unexpected guest, to alcohol, to produce, to delicious cookies. There's free samples almost daily. One of my favorite things is their burgers: they make your patties, completely seasoned and ready to cook. It's heavenly. Do yourself a favor and come browse around sometime.

Yelp
I'm sorry, but I'm super upset tonight. I come in frequent for smoothies and that rude, prejudice, Leah is always working. Tonight, she is carrying on a conversation with her guy friends, as if no customers are standing there in line--then finally says "were you ready to order?" YES, the whole time you were talking I was ready! She is the nastiest...especially to black patrons. She will intentionally not allow you to pay for your smoothie at the bar, even when the check out lines are backed up with grocery shoppers. As a person that patrons faithfully to the events/community service, a physician in the community, and a donor to many Whole Foods underserved projects (that I bet Miss Leah doesn't even know EXISTS!) it angers me they have someone like her representing their company! If you are going to be rude, at least wash your hands before preparing!
