Massive Houston Water Main Break Forces Restaurants to Close Temporarily | Eater Houston

"The Upper Kirby grocery outpost closed its doors because of the water-main incident, part of a broader set of business closures tied to the outage." - Amy McCarthy

Well, what can you say, it's simply not the WF it was before Amazon bought it out. One HUGE thing is, like all grocery stores, they NEED to stop spraying the chemicals on the vegetables!!! You darn near need to wear rain gear just to get some veggies. You used to have all kinds of organic, gluten free options. There used to be employees that were knowledgeable especially about the section they worked in. All the employees were nice and helpful no matter what you needed. Employees used to have pride in where they worked and now act like they could care less! I'll post a picture of something I see all to often and it's a prime example of what all I'm talking about! This one picture says so much about Amazon and it's employees!

What an amazing food store. Stocks finely curated products of high quality. Felt hungry just looking at everything on offer

Love whole foods we were there at a very busy time. But we still had great customer service and check out was a breeze. Love that you can use your Prime app to pay and food selection is always excellent from produce to bakery to boxed items.

We’ve always loved going to Whole Foods but never had one near by. Now that we live just down the street from the Huntsville location my wife goes quite frequently! Extremely friendly staff, with great lunch and dinner options hot and ready to take home!!! Their sushi is phenomenal and pizza is next level! Their cheese counter always has us leaving with way more cheese than we were expecting but we love everything we pick up! Watch for their sales, the meat here is cheaper than many places around town when it goes on sale!!!

Google
I just went here to drop off my Amazon returns but the store looked like it had a plenty of options for groceries. The bakery section had quite a lot of varieties as well. Plenty of free parking lot available.

Nina went out of her way to help me custom-fit a leftover ribbon decoration to a flower bucket when there were no vases big enough, even while she was clearly busy with other tasks. Her thoughtful help made the arrangement look so much better. Thanks!

Google
This is one of the best family spots to pick for quality food and groceries all over the USA with superb reputation. The quality of products are among the best with a good variety of options. Staff are very courteous and parking is ample in all their stores around the USA. A must visit place anywhere in the USA for sure for years to come. Also, being a Prime client with Amazon has sure advantages & benefits. Thanks for the continuous dedicated professional services by Mgt & Staff. God bless you ALL ✨

What happened today at the coffee bar was very disappointing and honestly felt like clear, biased treatment. Two employees were standing right in front of me, saw me waiting, and still didn’t acknowledge me or let me know the bar was closed. I stood there until another employee walking by finally said something. Seconds later, another customer walked up and was immediately acknowledged and redirected with no hesitation. The difference in how we were treated was obvious, and it felt like I was being singled out based on who I am. This is the second time I’ve had this same type of experience at this location, and the pattern feels too intentional to ignore. I hope management looks into this, because guests should be treated consistently and respectfully — without any kind of unequal or biased behavior.

Yelp
We have so many grocery shopping choices in Houston whicxh the Whole Foods location on Kirby Drive -- in the middle of River Oaks -- seems to have forgotten.Stocking shortages are constant. Choices are low when compared with other WF locations. And while I like the staff, there is rarely anyone around to help find things. This was not always the case. After Covid this store never fully recovered so I source other grocers to fill in the gaps. Definitely needs an upgrade.

Yelp
Whole Foods on Kirby is very convenient and the parking lot is large considering the area of the city. The self checkout and everything is run well and is touchfree. I can shop easily here and get my favorite snacks that whole foods has to offer. It has a cafe and they even have my favorite bakery indulgence: brownies with cheesecake! The flower selection is really nice and they have a full florist department there on the entrance off of the produce area. Overall, just really a convenient experience and the staff is welcoming, best stop for some groceries while in Kirby area of Houston!

Yelp
Someone brought their famous Chantilly Cake for a birthday celebration that I attended this week. I always said that white cake is the worst n most boring cake you can consume unless it's coconut, a really good tres leches or Chantilly. That's it and this one was very delicious, rich, moist, buttery, creamy and sweet but not too sweet.

Yelp
I only went here because I was returning an Amazon package and UPS Store now costs a buck to use them. It's on the far left side of the store if you're facing the front from the outside. Clerk was nice and it was super duper fast. I resisted all the munchies that are available for purchase. I've never understood all the organic snack stuff. Kinda sounds like an oxymoron.

Yelp
1 Star - Misleading Meat Labeling at the Butcher Counter I usually shop at Whole Foods for the quality and transparency, but I've noticed a recurring issue at the Upper Kirby location that really needs to be addressed. The butcher counter regularly labels top sirloin as "grass-fed," but what's being sold is clearly grain-fed beef. As someone who regularly buys grass-fed beef, the differences are obvious: the cuts being sold are larger, have more marbling, and lack the deep red color typical of true grass-fed meat. When cooked, the smell and texture are also noticeably off. This isn't a one-time mistake--it's happened multiple times now. Grass-fed beef costs more for a reason, and it's not okay to mislead customers while charging a premium. I brought this concern up in-store but haven't seen any changes. I hope management takes this seriously, because accurate labeling matters--especially when Whole Foods brands itself around trust and quality. Until this is resolved, I'll be shopping for meat elsewhere.

Yelp
The people at the bakery were very dismissive. I went to get about $100 worth of desserts for an event at my home. They asked me if I needed anything I said I need a minute to look at the selections. Five minutes later after helping a few customers, I was able to get their attention. I had some questions and was given a flipped answer and had a follow up question to get clarity. The people was clearly annoyed that I was taking up time, even though I am probably the biggest customer of the afternoon. I pick another item and still considered others but needed a minute to read the labels. Again, the lady went off and helped others. The other employee was very helpful but didn't know what I wanted. Apparently I was mispronouncing cannolis and the First Lady came back w an attitude correcting me, like I needed a lesson but she knew what I needed. It could have been handled a bit for gracefully, especially since I was clearly investing time and money. If you go to the bakery, you better know what you want or you will get an attitude.

Yelp
I had to make a quick stop here being nearby and anxiously awaiting, until we get a store that is closer. So for now, I will mainly shop here when, I am close to a store. This is always a favorite grocery market of mine, when it comes to finding vegan options and fresh organic produce the variety is always awesome and this so far is the only place, I have been able to find the butter, I use. (pic enclosed) Customer service is always friendly as well. Plus, I saw something new today that I had not seen before in avocado display. There were signs basically saying how long it would be, before the avocados would be right 1 to 2 days or 4 to 5, either way I thought it very considerate and nice. Until next time! Bye-Bye!

Yelp
Lots has changed within the past few years especially with the pandemic. There are grocery picks ups (two spots) on the right of the store. Plenty of parking for Whole Foods, and conveniently across from Ulta, bed bath and beyond and other dining establishments. You can get high pH water and reverse osmosis water! Tons of sparkling water around, ranch water, rain water, Waterloo, local brands. Tons of plant based proteins available, and great selection of no aluminum deodorant too! The ready food area is best earlier during the day, later in the evening, it gets kind of dry......... However!!! Right next to it, is a refrigerated area with everything neatly stored. I love the Mac at Whole Foods! You can always call ahead for the pizza as well. I honestly think that Whole Foods has the best tirimisu! Not tirimisu cake, but tirimisu. Find it in the refrigerated section, and not the cake section. Next up, berry chantilly is a highly rated cake to be worshipped on all occasions!!! The freshly baked chocolate chip cookies are pretty good too. I love when they have sales on fruit. I once asked a farmer, what to buy organic and what is ok not to buy organic. She said, yes she. She says everything with a thick peel you don't have to buy organic, such as grapefruit, but if it doesn't like strawberry, blueberries - buy those organic. Hope that all helps!! Have you tried the ice cream? There's tons! Enjoy y'all!

Yelp
As always using self check out for convenience, I have a fat lady (without a name tag) who seemed to be the store manager, mocking, bullying and not willing to help. Also, one African American, very fat security guy (at suppose to be healthy grocery store) started staring and rolling his eyes. Even after I mentioned that I'm prime member, the behavior and street trash talking still continued. I'm not sure where you guys find this kind of employees. Based on this experience, I am probably not going to use whole foods or amazon until I completely forget such a trash experience.

Yelp
Service is horrible. Three women standing around customer service desk just chatting and can't ask someone at the counter if they need help. The worst. Lazy. Not helpful. What's the point!? Do not take your Amazon returns here. I don't even know why they say they accept them.

Yelp
Marie is a florist extraordinaire and heaven-sent! She went above and beyond to make the most beautiful flower arrangement for my friend's birthday brunch. She was extremely patient and helpful to choosing the flowers. It was going to be a focal point at the brunch so I chose a TON of flowers. I later learned that when Marie was creating the arrangement later that day and realized they didn't have any vases big enough to hold all of the flowers I'd chosen, she went to Hobby Lobby to buy one large enough! There are simply no words for the level of professionalism and care she gives to her job. When I picked up the arrangement and when my friends saw it at the brunch we all had a similar reaction - we gasped and were left speechless at how stunning it was. Marie, thank you so much again for your dedication, kindness, and your talent! Your company is beyond lucky to have you!!!

Yelp
Walked over to bakery and waited a few minutes in front of mini cakes to be assisted. Suddenly one of the workers (African American lady) felt the need to yell out, "what do you need?". I pointed to the cake in front of me so she wouldn't yell anymore. She walked over and said the cake name with attitude as if it was such a bother to assist a customer. I'll remember not to go on a Saturday at 12:25 during her shift...Kirby location. On a good note the cashier who checked me out was friendly and pleasant as most employees usually are.

Yelp
I love the location of this store!!! This location is near me Job and it actually opens at 7!!! The location near my house opens later and isn't convenient for me. The store seems kinda crammed in the back where the packaged meat is but it's still a Whole Foods so I'm not complaining. The restroom is so disgusting out of all the Whole Foods Ive shopped at, their restroom is the most disgusting, all others that I've experienced were clean, big and fauna free...I can't say the same for this one...which concerns me...employees handle our food and use the restrooms that are unsanitary...unacceptable, expensive Whole Foods!!! Upgrade that disgusting women's restroom!!!!!! ASAP!!!!

Yelp
Hi, my name is Addam and I was there around 11:30 a.m., and a young man named Mike, stopped to help me and ring me up. Kudos to Mike on the front end with Glasses. He was very friendly, quick, efficient and helpfull, thanks so much Mike for being there to help out guest like me, Kudos again !!!

Yelp
Congratulations River Oaks Whole Foods Bakery, you have the #1 worst Tiramisu Cake in all of Houston. Chocolate wax slivers coat the flavorless frosting which is spread on a basic white cake. Was this mislabeled because there was zero Coffee flavor. Yuk

Yelp
There are a lot of arguments on golf courses. I was going to talk about them, but that would be Hole Feuds. This is Whole Foods. So let's get on with it. Overpriced af, but they have all the non-dairy stuff you could possibly need. They even have non-dairy pizza. Good salad bar. My girlfriend has been hit on in this store by cute people on several occasions so I know she likes it here. I'm very impressed by the fact that they sell the chocolate almond milk that I like, which nobody else seems to sell in these parts. So I'm a big fan of this Whole Foods and their delicious free samples, even though the chain as a whole, its politics, and the prices, are exorbitant and annoying.

Yelp
I absolutely will b back to the store! Starting with the cashiers when I needed help, the young man had no problem with helping me get help I'm the floral section. The person that came over was amazing. Nice, kind, and helpful. He was a older gentleman, very friendly. We needed pricing and the manager was happy to help us. Our cashier that assisted us with paying was amazing. She was patient and kind. The store was clean, made me very comfortable to shop especially during Covid! I will most definitely make this my store for all my whole Food needs

Yelp
I am writing this as a Whole Foods luncher...5 stars. If I don't know where to eat mid day, I'll come here for a meal. There are healthy and not so healthy items, which means your meal is going to be bomb & balanced. Open hot bar style, pick what you want, and they weigh it at check out. My co-worker did say it's expansive which my meals range $10-$12 so "shrugs" maybe, but I like the food. Now for the rest of the store rating...it's clean, some one off healthy brands can only be found in places like this, but produce & proteins are expensive...so 4 stars on this.

Yelp
Ran over to Whole Foods Market to pickup the best Chantilly cake in the world. Moist fruity extra light while eating. Besides it was my mom's birthday. Great choice of selection.

Yelp
I can't help it, I'm a huge Whole Foods fan. Nice, clean, bright and organized location no matter what time of day I go visit it. I happen to work around the corner, so it's pretty often. HEB doesn't cut the (organic gourmet) mustard all the time for me. HEB's ready hot food bar is a joke compared to WF's, a sad one at that. Better than Krogers, though. I REALLY wish there was a Whole Foods out by Friendswood in the Bay Area. We need you. I need you. It would be a wonderful addition to the area. I'm just throwing that out there into the web world and hopefully a Whole Foods bigwig will say, "Bay area...Friendswood. Lets build one."

Yelp
Super good store and location. Had to get water before the freeze hit. Got my favorite vitamins, and all the healthy goodies. Clean store and fast services.

Yelp
Staff wear masks off their nose or around their chin. A woman in the food prepping area had her mask off her nose. When I said she had to have her nose covered for the mask to be effective, she said she couldn't breathe. She went on about her business. Entitled. Produce guy had his mask below his nose. He said, And! Guy in the floral department had his mask around his chin. The person sitting at the front door as a mask monitor had his head completely down focused on his phone that I could have walked out with a handful of groceries or taken all their masks and sanitizer without him noticing. I spoke to the manager about the people working directly with food not covering their noses. She acted confused and said she'd tell another person. WHY HAVE A MANAGER ON STAFF WHO CANNOT MANAGE? Houston will never be rid of CORVID19 without enforcement. Ridiculous entitlement.

Yelp
Love the variety & freshness of all the produce. All of the staff are always so helpful and polite, it makes shopping here an overall really great experience.

Yelp
Was in the store (where I shop weekly) to drop off 2 Amazon returns. This is my hub for Amazon, wouldn't go anywhere else. Both items scanned and I left. Checked email later and one item was showing not scanned. Returned to store to have it re-scanned/fixed, and the item was already boxed up in another area. Staff member Monica was amazing. The hub area was very busy, but she kept me informed of what was going on the whole time I was waiting, and eventually found the item and we re-scanned. Thank you Monica! As a customer I appreciated her going above and beyond for my return. Oh, and this location WF store has amazing pizza too. :)

Yelp
Once upon a time we really enjoyed going to this location. What the heck happened? After shopping the best part was to sit and have a bite and some wine. Victoria was always a delight to see as with Jonathan and Elaine. Last night we found some changes had been made. The once comfortable bar has now been transformed into a quasi coffee bar/beer and wine bar. Seats were removed to accommodate the coffee station. What a mess. Now there is mass confusion. Whoever masterminded that configuration should fired. The moving of the chef's case is fine. But the coffee bar would have been best served in an area with desserts and not the bar. The bar serves many purposes. Many come to socialize, eat, have a drink or two while winding down from stressful day. Instead of capitalizing on a very unique situation i.e location, diverse customers, and local residents within walking distance some genius decided to make changes that instead of bringing more revenue to a facility may very well prove to bring less, Whole-foods, you goofed in this one.
google avatar

Yelp
I love the hot bar at this WF. The breakfast bar has tasty omelettes (spinach and mushroom or ham and cheese), the oven roasted potatoes are lovely, the thick cut peppery bacon has the perfect amount of fat, and they have a red salsa to pour over your omelette. I'm a big fan of portioning your own meals and if you're hungry and don't feel like going out for breakfast, check it out. I also love their fresh cut watermelon in small containers, it's a great mid-afternoon snack. Their WF water bottles (16 oz, i think) are only $0.44/each. Sweet. Parking is sorta tight, so have patience young Padawan.

Yelp
I love this place but not the prices but I know what kind of store I am in and the selection cannot be beat by a regular Kroger's, Randall's, Fiesta or H.E.B, not even any of their "flag ship" stores but I probably comparing apples to tomatoes. Everybody is nice and helpful here, I love their employee selection process and I love that I really have never noticed anybody's attitude that they would not rather be there, if they did they sure have a good way of hiding it, all 10 times that I have been here. Parking is h3ll here since it really isn't that big for the store that it is but that is ok to overlook since it seems that nobody here really fills up a giant cart/basket here, everybody pretty much is in to get what they need and get out. Like a mall I could spend hours here browsing the strange items that I have never seen in your local neighborhood stores as well as looking at the different niche of people that I am used to seeing in a store. It is hard for me to explain but maybe somebody here can help me with the words that I am looking for but the only words that come to mind are "Alternate lifestyle and/or financially well off" people.

Yelp
I like to go to Whole Foods for some of their specialty products and the food bars/grab and go items. It's always been consistently good for ready-made foods, but I've been a little underwhelmed by the selections lately. I've stopped in after work several times lately and have found the hot bar items picked over and limited in choice. Tonight, they had two pastas and rice as some of the main courses. The pizza station always had one of the best and largest in town had only a few dry, sad looking pieces. The salad bar was ok but I was looking for something interesting to add. The sushi is really diverse, though. It's a bit further from me, but the Montrose/Waugh store has the most fabulous salad and hot bar choices, but I know they have a lot more space dedicated. I will probably try that location next time. As an aside, I know I need to be better about carrying my recycled bags with me but I was annoyed with the bagging tonight. All my glass and other items were all packed into one, single bag that I couldn't even pick up. The checker finally offered to double bag after I tried to lift it. I hate to complain but please just double bad or separate the items (especially when I'm spending $50 on one bag of purchases)!

Yelp
The world's nicest customer service representative, MICHAEL assisted me today at the Customer Service Counter in WFM (Kirby). I arrived before the Amazon Return Station was open, but Michael offered to help me anyway... WOW, what a kind thing to do! I really appreciate you, Michael... your customer service attitude makes me want to continue giving WFM my business!!! A million thanks, Michael for your 'can do' spirit!

Layla K.

Yelp
This location has always been my 7 AM stop once a week on the way home from the gym. Showed up today and they have pushed back the opening time to 8 AM. Super bummed. They always seemed to be fully staffed and a fair amount of customers so hopefully they change it back.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a review based solely off of the sushi burrito that I ate here. Of course since its Whole Foods, $10.99 for a sushi burrito is normal. It is expensive for me, but what did I expect? However, I expected the burrito to be full of flavor and yumminess because it's extremely colorful and packed with ingredients. Despite its look, the burrito tasted like plain rice and spicy. That's it! I didn't taste any salmon or carrots or whatever was in there. I was disappointed that I paid $10.99 for rice and spice. It's looks were deceiving and I won't buy the burrito ever again
google avatar

Anna P.

Yelp
I've been going to this Whole Foods off and on for awhile, but decided to get sushi from them for the first time today. Never again. I had eaten one piece when I saw something moving and discovered what looked like a baby roach crawling out of the sushi. I almost threw up and immediately tossed it into the trash after taking a picture, since I wouldn't have believed it if someone told me. **FOLLOW UP: 30 minutes after posting this, I was contacted by store management and they have taken the necessary steps to ensure that this doesn't happen again, as well as compensating me above and beyond for the item. I was impressed by the swiftness of the reply and the thoroughness of their follow up measures with pest control and their food providers, and hope to be a customer in the future**

Yelp
I already wasn't a fan of this location (non-intuitive layout, staff not as courteous as at Waugh) but after my last experience I have decided not to come back. I asked the butcher to wrap the whole chicken that I was buying in paper (and not to use plastic). He laughed and said that I was funny. I found it very disrespectful.

Loretta T.

Yelp
I would like to thank Blythe in the cheese department for helping me pick out a variety of cheeses for a charcuterie board they are putting together. Service was prompt but they still kept aware of other shoppers needs.

Yelp
Alright, I'm here to review their steak night. They recently started doing steak nights on Thursday. $20 for a ribeye, 2 sides, and a glass or beer or wine at the bar. That's a lot of food and a drink for just $20! Order your steak by the register, grab your drink, and sip away while you wait for that delicious steak. Them char marks on that steak!! And the generous portions of those sides. The steak was done exactly how I like it, well seasoned, juicy and delicious. You must try this, it'll be your next favorite steak night spot.

Yelp
Irony finds physical form through Whole Foods on Kirby -- in the heart of River Oaks, one of the most allegedly luxurious neighborhoods in Houston. This location has the worst prepared foods (compared to other locations), most of them are already stale and/or tasteless when you buy them. Needless to say they go bad in the fridge in a day or two. A lot of the items on the shelves loom close to their expiration dates, it is possible to buy something that will expire within days of purchase that is supposed to be good for weeks. I find the store small, non-intuitively laid out, crowded with merchandize no one needs -- heaps of packaged carbs in various forms -- nothing whole about it. They recently revised the hot foods section and it was an improvement. I only go here because it is across the street from where I live. The Whole Foods in Bellaire off of Holcombe has incredibly fresh and tasty prepared foods. It's night and day. I just paid 20 dollars for a box of 12 macarons at the Kirby location, took them to the office and embarrassed myself -- they're stale and horrible. I should have listened to that voice in my head that said "buy them from Bellaire don't be lazy!" I'm done. I have already moved on to buying my groceries from Central Market on Westheimer, now clearly I can't even trust Whole Foods Kirby with desserts -- something relatively difficult to screw up. I'm done. This is the end.
google avatar

Yelp
The Whole Foods in central Houston recently decided to stop buying several of my favorite items. When I called to see if I could order these items, I was forced to deal with a grown child who picked up the phone and promptly hung it up when I called back. These stores are very poorly run. Why would you discontinue a food that you can't keep in stock bc it is so popular? Why would you pick petty fights with loyal customers? Please Whole Foods. We all love your Foods. Just sell food. And maybe stop exclusively hiring attendees of burning man who have personality issues.
google avatar

Darlene T.

Yelp
This a great neighborhood grocery store, particularly for prepared foods. The wine/ coffee bar is a wonderful area to eat. Wines are priced very reasonably per glass. Prime members get great deals. Lines move quickly at register. You may pay a little more but the convenience and the quality are worth the extra price. An extra shout out to Victoria at the bar for her knowledge and upbeat personality!

Yelp
Came here about 15 minutes before close to check out seafood selection and everything was cleared out I stopped by Central Market I'm home they still had everything out somebody to help him looks like I'm finding me a new store

Yelp
Stopped in here after a visit from a doctor visit and bought some organic fruits and organic chicken. Always love shopping at Whole Foods and usually have nothing to complain about but what got me was when the cashier bagged our groceries she put my raw organic chicken on top of our fruits (we bought packaged organic strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries so they're in a plastic container with holes. I didn't realize it until we were putting the groceries in the car when I saw the chicken. I understand trying to save the planet and bags but you never put raw meats (especially chicken) with anything else.

Yelp
Great pizza, large selection of veggies and vegetarian products. My kids love the bakery

Oralia A.

Yelp
It's amazing that after shopping here for years, I would have been harassed, verbally abused, and discriminated against the way I was recently. You are COMPLETELY out of line with the "Core Values" listed on your website: Our customers are the lifeblood of our business and our most important stakeholder. We strive to meet or exceed their expectations on every shopping experience. -- Is this how you treat the lifeblood of your business by Becky talking to me as though I were highly infectious and telling me to stand in a corner, as though I were a child, while she rang me up? We deliver outstanding customer service through our knowledge, skill, enthusiasm and operational excellence. --again, does this "knowledge" include Becky (and later Paco) diagnosing me as highly contagious and telling me to "stand in a corner" while you rang me up? Really? Where did Becky and Paco get their medical degrees? We continually experiment and innovate to offer a better customer experience. --your experiment in taking precautions with me went to far! If Becky or Paco were that concerned about me being a risk for others to be around, they could have rung me up expediently and gotten me out of the door in 5 minutes or less! Or, they could have let the original cashier ring me up! Instead, they created a scenario that was discriminatory and dangerous as I was attacked by others while dealing with their capricious request! We create store environments that are inviting, fun, unique, comfortable, attractive, nurturing, and educational. Our stores are community meeting places where people can join their friends and make new ones. --you did EVERYTHING but create an environment that was inviting, fun, unique or comfortable! Mid way through my shopping, I was harassed by Paco when he came up to me from a distance with a box of masks offering me one. Even after I told him I didn't wear one for medical reasons, he said "you'll see when you get to the cashier" and stormed off. Nothing "inviting" about that. While Becky and Paco made a spectacle out of me checking out by making me stand a good 20 feet from the cashier, other customers decided to chime in and attack me and even threaten me. All of this as Becky and Paco continued with their harassment and intimidation of me! This whole matter was handled very poorly and frankly I am horrified that it even happened. I have been shopping here for years and since the onset of this "outbreak" with little to no issue. Shame on YOU Becky and Paco for handling this in such a piss poor manner. I guess you don't get much recognition and the little "authority" that you have been given has gone to your head. I hope it doesn't backfire on you! You cannot treat customers like this and expect to get a free pass! I hope those of you that are reading this and are NOT able to wear a mask for ANY reason do not CHOOSE this store! You will be harassed and discriminated against!

Yelp
Whole Foods has changed dramatically since it was taken over by Amazon. It lacks the old hippie, health food feeling of the past. Other than the supplements (when on sale) I find no real need to go to this particular WF. Had a really snotty cashier on my last visit and vowed to never return. Virtually any Trader Joe's employee could run circles around the WF folks in the customer service arena.

Yelp
The bar area of this location is really cute. The bar staff are nice and attentive. The drink choices are great and the prices are better. They also let you try as many options as you want at not charge.

Yelp
Though I love my HEB, I do love the many conveniences my local Whole Foods offers. Organic, ready-made foods, a beer and pizza bar with a nice lil happy hour, three different soup stations offering more than a dozen varieties, organic beauty products and toiletries and the friendliest seafood counter guys. Really, those guys are awesome. As for the juice bar - ask which items are freshly juiced and which come frozen or out of a jug. You're better off going to an actual juice bar for fresh pressed juices. Things to know: Wednesday night BINGO at the bar Thursday pizza night: Snag a whole pizza pie for $9.99 Grab a free kids treat on your way out (of course, you have to have a kid with you) They have online ordering and delivery Here's the sales flier (for this particular store) http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/sales-flyer?store=6589 Coupons for this store http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/coupons/kirby

Yelp
I really do not like anything about this place. The CEO's incendiary comments on universal healthcare a few years ago (see: companion review for FROBERG FARM in Alvin, Texas) are only the beginning. If you are not an incredibly entitled individual, good news, every single fellow shopper is richer and more important than you! And they are more than willing to act haughty and arrogant as you maneuver the aisles and ask the big fat River Oaks lady to move a smidgen so you can grab ice cream out of the freezer window, one of several freezer windows her and her LV purse are concealing. Selection: every time I come here for one thing they never have it. I don't even know why I bother keeping a list - I am going to either settle and buy garbage I didn't really intend to, or end up going down the road to Disco Kroger anyway. Workers: they are like totally rad, dudebro. NOT. They think they are, and they really want you to know it. But it is more like pathetic high school age suburban poseurs in the effectiveness of how well they pull it off. The conversation at check out is about as exciting as banging your head against the wall - and even there, it is probably a better use of your time since hey, at least you get a head-sized indentation in the wall. Sorry hipsters, you get an F minus MINUS (oh snap! No he didn't!) on this one.

Yelp
Way too overpriced. Everything here is expensive and only wealthy people should shop here. I walked into the store thinking it would have something in my budget, but I was discouraged away. No wonder you don't ever see a Whole Foods market in the Southeast side of Houston, or even on near Hobby. Everything in this store is supposedly suppose to be healthy for you, and good for your body, but how in the heck are you supposed to be healthy if you spent all your earnings here?! Not sure why they had some kale covered in chocolate, I thought that was gross and probably would make you stay in the bathroom for days or nights. If you come in this store dressed like you just went jogging, or just got outta the bed the staff will stare and make you feel like you don't have no business in their establishment. Please stick to your nearby local HEB where you will also get fresh food that is healthy for you. Oh, and if you are looking for some different kinds of ingredients to spice up your meal go to an Asian Supermarket, or Halal market. They always have some different for your taste buds. By the way, my aunt loves this place, and boasts that they always have organic this and that. The best way to go organic is to save your time, gas, and money. Just grow it yourself! The freshest foods come from if you took the time to give it TLC and grown it. I know, gardening. I've grown my own tomatoes, cilantro, melons, and now growing papayas, red hot chili peppers, sweet potatoes, lemon basil, and rosemary. Its a great hobby to get into. I encourage anyone to try it. I wouldn't recommend this market to anyone who isn't rich.

Yelp
I used to work at Whole Foods, so I have a huge love-hate relationship with this place. Huge. Fraking Huge. Please, be super nice to eveyone who works the floor at Whole Foods. They need a hug. But I come back and give them loads of my money, because I am 97% certain that I'm not buying chemical laden foods and that the animal products are as cruelty free as it's going to get for the masses. Prices on SOME items are great; some wines, black forest bacon ( in meat case), cow's milk feta, organic apple juice (365 brand) are great buys. In fact, I'd just flat out trust the 365 brand over almost any other store brand anywhere. Now, Trader Joe's is coming to town, so Whole Foods had better up their game and lower their prices. Something ... People will flock to TJs in the first few months, just out of curiosity, and I'm sure that a lot of the workers there will be WFs ex-pats. I think that if WF keeps emphasizing healthier eating and living, they'll do just fine
