As part of a national chain, this Whole Foods isn't particularly different than any other WF I've been to in other states. In fact, I'd say it's a bit on the smaller side but that makes total sense considering Jackson is a smaller city!
As a Jackson resident, I do try and stick mainly to local businesses but I make the occasional exception for Whole Foods because they are so adamant about stocking their produce section with as much local produce as possible, which is hard to find at some of our local grocers. (Which is always a disappointment for me.) I know people love to joke about the high prices at WF ("Whole Paycheck," am I right?) but considering the high standards WF holds all the food they offer to, I don't usually mind paying a little more. I'm not adamant about eating organic, but I do prefer to whenever possible and I trust the Whole Foods stamp of approval.
If you're grocery shopping at Whole Foods on a budget (like me! holla!), I highly recommend sticking to their in house brand-- the 365 products. They're better quality than the generic brands from Target, Kroger or Wal-Mart and the prices are comparable.
That said, I don't do a lot of my grocery shopping here. Rather, I come for speciality items, the prepared foods, or the bar. For specialty items, like really unique and delicious meats, cheeses and produce, WF is a great choice in a town with limited grocery shopping options like Jackson. The prepared foods section is also excellent. Everything is super-reasonably priced (IMO) and crazy delicious. I'm a huge fan of their honey mashed sweet potatoes and mac-n-cheese. Their pizzas are also so good.
My favorite part of Whole Foods though (and this says a lot about me, I guess) is half-price pint night on Monday nights at the bar. For good, craft beers, this is one of the best deals in town. I highly recommend grabbing a couple friends and heading down to the Whole Foods for some inexpensive, quality beers and maybe to split a delicious pizza. It's a really fun night! The environment is chill, quiet and friendly and you can pick up a couple groceries while you're there. They also have wi-fi, if you wanna work while you sip!
Overall, if you're familiar with Whole Foods then you won't be blown away by this particular store but it's a nice place with a friendly, knowledgable staff and I think it's a great addition to Jackson.
