Top Chef Season 16, Episode 10: ‘Hoop Dreams’ Recap | Eater

"Chefs shopped for arena-challenge ingredients at a Whole Foods where a grocery run turned into a moment of conflict — two cooks discovered they were both making chicken & waffles, and one pulling a generic boxed waffle mix sparked a debate over homemade versus boxed batter. The store also served as a casual respite for a contender who relaxed by eating sushi in the on-site cafe while exempt from the next round, illustrating how the supermarket functioned as both a sourcing hub and a brief comfort zone during the scramble." - Greg Morabito

Friendly staff. Very quick and efficient when I did curbside order pickup. The food quality is great and honestly not too much more expensive then other regular grocery stores. There's a lot of variety with food selection plus if you have Amazon Prime, you get certain items at a little bit of a discounted price! Will be shopping curbside again. As a busy mom curbside is such a time saver!

Google
Good fresh fruits and vegetables, plus they have hot premade food kinda like a buffet you walk all the long counters that have everything you can think of really hot, out it in a container and pretty for it by the weight, it's all delicious. The place is a little pricey but worth it! Oh and if you have a Amazon prime account you can get a 10% discount on a lot of things.

Google
Four stars for the quality of food and great service. One star taken out because all the prices are jacked up at Whole Foods. Yes, we want everyone to eat healthy. No, you should not just be the select top 5% of the population who can afford Whole Foods on a regular basis.

Google
What an amazing team culture they have at Whole Foods in Naperville every morning. I stopped in there and go to the back and get my chef platter, which is super healthy for myself. I try to make it there every day and every staff member there is kind and courteous every time either self check out or Proper check out there always happy to help. Thank you again for making my experience wonderful and thank you for having the best food and healthy food for our families in a local area.

Google
Even though it was my very first time visiting this location, I love nearly everything about it, like the setup, fresh produce, overall maintenance of the store, high-quality products, & the customer service. From fresh organic/non-organic, locally grown produce to an array of nuts, grains, dries fruits, beans, and whatnot. Pasture-raised eggs are hard to find and I was able to find it here. Prime members discount was one of my favorite parts of shopping here. Multiple salad bars, a bakery, Sushi-spot, a cafe, a wide range of Cheeses, Meats section & all of this sounds even better at a great price. On top of that, there was a separate area for dining/working/playing, also some toys for the kiddos. PS- Their customer service is outstanding.

Yelp
Yes Whole Foods my favorite grocery store. I love my shampoos and hand soaps too. My vitamins vegan brand yes of course my special cashew probiotic drinkable yogurts too only whole food has it. Delicious yum!! The ambiance is awesome at the very entrance you see magnificent shades of flowers. I love the mini bouquet of flowers that are the cutest things. I also love they have many types of cheeses and wines non alcoholic wines too. Gluten frees breads and the most delicious cakes, almond croissants and best non flour chocolate cake to die for. The only thing I dislike about doing returns is their service policy. You must have a recipient but many things to mention are only sold here no where else but they insist to return or give you credit with your receipt but who in the world safe grocery receipts. With many arguments with management I decided to save them or to check the expiration dates on their products because many things that I have purchased go bad very fast and mold. One time I purchased a watermelon that the produced guy gave me the watermelon was bad rotten that it was leaking from the heavy peel. I took the watermelon back with the receipt and the person in the service desk still gave me a hard time returning it. Also a gluten free cake that was highly recommended by the staff at the bakery I took it home next day it was bad and moldy this time i did not have the receipt with me. The manager was so rude and gave me a hard time and said to me no we can not refund without receipt I said but this your product from this store I just got it look at the cameras from yesterday he said sorry take it with you AGH.!!!!

Yelp
UPDATE: In addition to the low-quality produce and canned goods, NOW they have stopped allowing Prime members to order anything that might be an inconvenience for their precious little shoppers to put into the cart. Example: San Pelligrino 12-bottle 32-ounce glass bottles. I ordered once for pickup, but every time since that is not offered as an option for pickup. I just assumed they were out. But today when I tried to order online for curbside pickup, they were once again not offering that online. Getting suspicious that they could be out of it this many times, I headed to the store and went inside. Sure enough: more than 14 cases of it sitting at the front door. Okay...so now we KNOW they are just being lazy. The reason, BTW, that I order that for curbside is because I recently had a hip replacement and cannot lift/carry something that heavy for a few months. Cancelled my AmazonPrime membership as soon as I got back home. What good is curbside if you can't use it?! Also, won't be shopping at WholeFU anymore...Other grocery stores have no issues with taking heavier items to your car.

Yelp
I love their ready eat section. I got me some Indian food and yellow beets salad. It was delicious. Healthy and I recommend it.

Yelp
So disappointed that they switched bakery supplier. I loved the French Baguette that they used to make. Now it is just a Jewel French Bread. Please bring the authentic baguette .

Yelp
I come to this Whole Foods often when I am back home since it is so close to our house. The quality of the merchandise has been gradually decreasing in the last couple of years. Mainly items we are bought recently have not been up to par. I got a pomegranate that was starting to mold inside, a cucumber which had started to rot as well as a carton of milk that started to turn pretty quickly and ended up having a weird black chunk in it after we dumped it out? All of these instances have happened within a week of each other. I also saw an instance a few months ago where all of the milk that was put out expired that day. Quality control really needs to be worked on in this store. However, at least the workers themselves are friendly and willing to point you in the right direction for items and thankfully they have a return policy as well. All in all, disappointing quality of items especially for a Whole Foods but at least they have friendly staff.

Yelp
UPDATE: I received your standard response (see image), but then get directed to a generic help site with no way of leaving the very feedback you say you want to follow up with. You should provide a direct link if you cared that much. If the store manager on up to senior management don't seem to care, your customer service department won't either. But your customers DO CARE and people share their experiences in person and online. And to them, poor service - especially from a store like yours - matters. I stop into this store on occasion before heading to work. On a recent morning, I stopped in to pick up a couple of items and grabbed a biscotti to enjoy with my morning coffee.  My biscotti fell from the bag and broke apart all around the self-checkout. I immediately tried to consolidate all the pieces into one area and keep them out of the way so that no one would fall, slip, etc. I immediately turned to see an employee by the regular registers to let her know what happened so it could be properly cleared. She was angry and irritated that I swept the spill with my foot, saying I was making it harder for her. I even offered to clean it up. She continued to be very rude. Accidents happen, and one hopes that employees are properly trained, at the very minimum, to provide more pleasant responses when they do. I could have said nothing, but I chose to do the right thing. I emailed the manager and others with no response. It appears that service is learned from the top down. I expect better from Whole Foods.

Yelp
Checkout lines are longer all the time and especially during rush hours or too many customers. Some of the staff especially this old lady gives a racist vibe. Don't recommend this store go somewhere else that is more stocked and staff is pleasant like the Wheaton store.

Yelp
The staff and the customer service are excellent, the premade meals are great! Will always recommend this store!!

Yelp
Absolutely love shopping here! I highly recommend. Always has fresh food and great products.

Yelp
The only time I went here I was a high schooler and the cashier literally looked me up and down and then laughed at me Not good for my developing brain lol. Make sure you dress like a bland Karen or you, too, might get ostracized by your cashier!

Yelp
Love the bakery with employee MaryAnn. She Is wonderful with advice, service and knowledge. She can select the perfect loaf for what ever the occasion. I keep going back to the bakery and she is the reason

Yelp
I have been shopping at this location weekly for years. It has completely gone to sh!t. I think they may have had better selections during Covid. Every time I come to this store the shelves look like they just had either a going out of business sale or got hit with a mob steal. Shelves empty, aisles with stock on floor and a couple of employees standing around shooting the breeze. The brand and option selections have continued to shrink both in packaged goods and fresh fruit/vegetables. I now make it a point to shop elsewhere for whatever I can and only come here for the few things I cannot get someplace else. Thanks Amazon for ruining a good thing.

Yelp
This review is not about this particular store, but it's about a gift card that I ordered for a friend. I ordered a $50 gift card and it has been OVER 2 weeks and the recipient has not received it. I have contacted them twice and no apologies. Actually blaming me for selecting my delivery choice!! Never again !

Yelp
Something has been off with this location for a few years. It used to be very nice three or four years ago, but for the past couple years it seems like the most neglected Whole Foods Market I have seen. They have an ongoing problem getting the shelves stocked and their selection of items just keeps diminishing and diminishing. The staff used to be five-star all the way, and many of the staff are still extremely helpful, but there are just so few of them there at any given time. VERY UNDERSTAFFED OFTEN. The only departments that I would still give a five-star rating to are the meat and produce departments (though the produce choices seem a bit limited too). The selection and stocking situation is so poor that I often drive well out of my way to go to the Whole Foods in Wheaton, which seems to do a far better job keeping the shelves stocked, especially with sale items.

Yelp
Open Clean They no longer have great premade food. That made me sad. The produce is clean and fresh and the young lady at the register I think her name was Rachel she was great as well. My dad came to get some water and we didn't spend to much time because everything is labeled efficiently and there was decent traffic. Good job Whole Foods!

Yelp
One, way too expensive. Two, we were buying alcohol at the store and the cashier asked for all 4 of our ids. One of us (younger sister who didn't want to wait in the car) was under age. Cashier had the audacity to press in our faces that it was Naperville law to check all ids. That is false, go to any other major grocery store and they won't do this. So we did what any good person would do. We sent my sister into the car, waited in a different line and purchased our alcohol. Don't come here for anything, overpriced, long lines, won't sell you beer if you come with your 14 year old kids ‍ you'll have to wait in line twice and let your kid freeze in the car.

Yelp
Ordered a drink from the coffee bar and Maya was extremely kind and helpful. The drink tasted great and I had a great conversation with Maya. Will return to see her again!

Yelp
While waiting for my car to be serviced, I decided to try the hot food bar here instead of Buffalo Wild Wings. I'd normally indulge in buffalo wings when the opportunity arises, but I needed to recover from a 5-day unlimited food binging cruise. This is a pretty big Whole Foods location, and you're greeted with the produce section like most locations. The food bars are all the way on the right of the store with a dining area tucked in that corner. The area was pretty clean and well-maintained. They have a wide selection of cold and hot food at the bars being $8.99/lb. The food container is very sturdy and heavy, which I'm sure contributed to 20% of the 1.47 pounds that got rung up. That would make the food container over $2.60 by itself! Okay, someone bring me a weight scale please. I loaded my container up with mostly vegetables. The food was average and definitely not worth the $14.35 price. However, the best dish out of all the ones I got was the collard greens one. It had a hint of spiciness. Whole Foods is notorious for being overpriced, and this experience supported that.

Yelp
I am a sucker for Whole Foods, regardless of the prices . Nothing about it is affordable per se, but you're there for fun healthy food finds, not to save money lol. I am just overall mildly disappointed with the lack of variety at this location . I lived in St. Louis for 5 years & the two locations I went to had so many interesting finds. I couldn't get enough! However, this Naperville location was underwhelming in comparison with the products they offered. I do still love this company though & the vibe of the chain. The cashiers are helpful & kind. Store is clean & organized & in a great location.

Yelp
I love Whole Foods! BUT, there's one thing that always disappoints me. See the picture. All the time I'm getting pomegranate it's half bad.
google avatar

Shannon M.

Yelp
So I pretty much only buy one product here now, meaning that I don't come in very often. So every time I do it can be a challenge to find what I need as it seems to be in a different spot etc. Gladly today I had help from a super-nice lady in the bath & body department (whose name I didn't get, but had black bobbed hair and glasses), which made my hunt easier, so thank you! I will say avoid this place on a weekend if you can. No one seems to know where they're going, and everyone seems to be dodging around; I would prefer not to be knocked off my feet if possible! Some fun choices in the bakery, like King cake for Mardi Gras; you don't see that too much up here in the Midwest. All told though, I'll stick to coming when I need my one product...and try not to do it on a weekend.

Yelp
So embarrassed to have a manager tell me to put my cart away! I grabbed a cart from the parking lot that someone left in a space, shopped for a couple things and checked out. After checking out, I grabbed my 2 bags and started to leave only to have a manager stop me and tell me to put my cart away. I wasn't even sure where they went. I haven't been to Whole Foods in years and have no intention of going back.

Yelp
This is a huge Whole Foods compared to ones in large cities. Very spacious and clean. Plenty of parking.

Eric E.

Yelp
My perspective comes from buying ready made food to eat, which we usually eat on location. The pro - great tasting, high-quality food that won't be outdone by the ready to eat choices that your regular grocery store has to offer. This is a pit-stop for us for a couple of different reasons. When we come here to eat I'm always all over the sushi bar and like to grab some of their delicious cooked veggies as well. Like the steamed brussel sprouts cooked in spices and pumpkin seeds. These devils are to die for. I also love their green beans and a few other veggies that are always on tap. The con - just one, the price. But, you get what you pay for and I don't ever feel like I'm being shorted. Can I afford to eat here all the time...no. But we make this an infrequent stop and when we do, I go in eyes wide open (mouth too). Tip - if eating in, save a few bucks on your beverage by buying their large water for 65 cents. Seems like every other drink is $4-5...but the water comes on the cheap. Cheers.

Yelp
Love this place always a go to!! Was disappointed to find they clean out & close up the salad bar at least 1 hr before closing that's when I was there. I've hit some other locations in the last hr and that was not the case
google avatar

Yelp
Lunch or dinner time? You'll end up circling the parking lot for 15 minutes only to end up parking halfway down to World Market. I come anyway. I can't help it. Their produce really does taste better. The apples alone are worth the trip! I love their standards! No one sprayed your fruit and vegetables down with the equivalent of Raid! --They're big and beautiful and they grew that way naturally! :) I also love the customer service. I was needing a sausage without even a trace of sweetener. While, there wasn't one there, one of the butchers pulled up all of the info for the fresh meat in the cases and then took the time to look at ALL of the labels in the freezer section. --That is some fabulous customer service! I have kids and I care so much about what I put into their bodies. I love that I can trust the standards that WF has! If I'm shopping with my 3 yr old and she sees something and asks for it, I feel confident that nothing potentially harmful is going into her young body. Now. How to avoid the parking lot?
google avatar

Valentina B.

Yelp
Wow really nice store. Clean! spotless! Everything is displayed nicely and they have what seems to be every vegan product available. Don't personally need all the vegan and gluten-free options, but they're there. The produce is the freshest. It's worth the trip for healthy food. On a recent shopping trip I was able to find lots of new vegan items that are not in the large supermarkets. Clean, well-lit, well-organized store. Slightly pricey, but not in the context of an 'organic grocery.' Friendly and helpful staff. Great product mix. Great selection of wines. Very nice experience, Amazing store. Happy to come again.

Yelp
Holiday Dinner pickup. Very smooth experience. Packed lovely. Friendly, polite staff. Very sure I'd use them again! Next test is the taste! Will advise on that after dinner tonight! The Vegans at holiday dinner that inspired this meal choice, were very pleased with the offerings. They enjoyed the variety especially dessert! Everything was packed in microwave safe containers; that made for quick reheat or change out to oven bakeware. It passed the taste test & simplicity for holiday meals! 4 forks up! I will definitely use and recommend this option in the future!

Yelp
My wife and I stopped there while passing through Naperville to have dinner. We purchased the 3 piece dinner from the deli. This is of course a cold servered meal. When we got to the eating area at the store, there was no microwave anymore. I asked customer service how we were supposed to warm up our food. They said they don't provide a microwave anymore due to the pandemic. Last I checked, the pandemic was over a year ago. Although, there doesn't seem to be any problem letting hundreds of people touch silver serving spoons all day in the hot bar and salad bar. It ruined our dinner. Who wants to eat cold potatos and chicken for dinner. We got a refund and left very upset. Why can hundreds of people use the hot bar touching the same untensils, yet not allow people to share a microwave if cross contamination is truly a concern? Also, there was no sign stating a microwave isn't available anymore. Also, I asked the deli clerk if the container was microwave safe when we use the microwave in the eating area there at the store, and he said yes. Wasted over 30 minutes of our time, and ruined our evening having to find somewhere else to eat at 730pm at night. Store just states "we apologize", and nothing else. Well, that doesn't recoup my lost time and aggrivation from the inconvenience. Guess we won't be back. We were long time customers, but customer service at Whole Foods is at an all time low.
google avatar

Jodi C.

Yelp
The surrounding area is quite crowded and congested that it always takes me longer than anticipated to get in and out of the store. I felt like the store was dark and not that appealing compared to other ones. I'll be going to the Danada square location in Wheaton from now on.
google avatar

Jacqueline B.

Yelp
I know, I know. Whole Foods - you either love it or hate it. Turns out, I love it. If you're on the fence, maybe this review will help. If you have any sort of dietary restrictions or are trying to eat healthier or be more conscience of where your food comes from... this Whole Foods Market is going to be your jam. They honestly have everything you could need. I can't tell you how many times a recipe called for a vegetable I was unfamiliar with and yet they had it. Sure, this healthy organic food will cost you... but I've learned I'd rather invest in what I ingest (catchy right?) then save a penny on food that'll cost me my health down the line. I've never indulged in their cafe or hot bar -- more of a cross things off my shopping list and get out kind of gal -- but folks seem to love hanging here with a beverage or bite to eat. If anything, the lively, happy, and helpful employees at this WF will keep me coming back. It seriously puts me in a good mood when I come shopping here. However, what doesn't put me in a good mood is the crazy busy parking lot on the weekends! Yikes, that sh*t gets packed.
google avatar

Yelp
Whole Foods Market is conveniently located in Naperville near the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve. What's the relevancy of that? It's a perfect destination after a run on the trail to eat healthy from a salad bar containing things I've never heard of before. Having a few tables in the shade make it nice to sit down after a long run through the trail to eat what seemed to be an endless selection from a salad bar. Be it that it was a Saturday afternoon and as busy as it was, the salad bar area was clean, like clean clean, not that I expected it to be not clean but I took notice as to how clean the area was. I will return after my next run.

Yelp
This review is specific to the Naperville location on 75th St. Let me start by saying all Whole Foods are not equal, and not too many are equal to this one. I suppose size helps, but nothing can be accomplished without good management. It is glaringly obvious when I visit other locations. This place is at full tilt! Barrista executed coffee, sushi, hot and cold bars, items in bulk... one or more of those items isn't always offered in other locations. I love the nostril tingle I experience in the natural soap section, the store is redolent with it. I visit other locations and always compare them to this one cause others come up wanting! Kudos to the local management for a job well done and executed!
google avatar

Joe C.

Yelp
Although it's a nice store I won't shop there again since it is a posted no carry store. It must be a store policy since it is not required by the state Too ba

Maya V.

Yelp
I haven't been to whole foods in a while and I decided to stop by today. Everything went well until we when to look for a condiment and I couldn't reach it from the shelf I accidentally tripped on the shelf and spilled glass condiments on the floor I said I was sorry and apologized and the rude employee said something under his breath and was upset at the fact that they had to do something that is obviously part of their job. There was another employee who offered to help which was very nice of her wish there were more helpful people like her. And look I understand what it's like working I have 6+ years experience of working in retail so I understand bad days but still come on man people shouldn't be rude.

Yelp
Grab a refreshment, this will be a while. I visit this location quite a bit, mostly against my free will. They do offer a host of hard to find items that I need to make some of my dinners come together. With that said, I've had an experience here which dominates this review. I rarely purchase items from the bakery, but this day I found myself walking aimlessly through the store and came upon a box of chocolate chip cookies. The cookies looked yummy so they came home with me. The next day, my husband and I were enjoying these cookies - they were delish by the way. Then, my husband gets up and runs to the sink. He emerges with a foreign object in the palm of his hand. I can only describe it as whitish, pointy and harder than tooth enamel. We just sat and examined the thing. My husbands mouth was not punctured, but this could have easily cut into his mouth - poor guy. We agree to call whole foods so they can take the cookies off the shelf so no one gets hurt. I really wanted to eat the remaining cookies - they were that good! But I couldn't chance a resulting dental emergency. I call them up. I get transferred around and finally get the bakery supervisor. I explained everything in detail. She then goes on to say she doesn't know what it can be yada, yada. I then try to explain the significant damage this could cause ones mouth. I can hear her painting her nails. She then goes on saying it's probably coconut and how they use coconut in the cookies. I read her the ingredients on the label - no coconut found. Now she goes on about how the jumble nut cookies DO have coconut and I must be reading it wrong. My face went completely blank as I told her for the third time that I purchased chocolate chunk cookies, not jumble nut. I can hear her applying a top coat. After going back and forth about my husband nearly cutting his mouth, clean open - I ask her can I bring the cookies back for a refund. She agrees, asks me to bring the object with and have customer service call her when I arrive. As I approached the customer service desk, there was a nice woman who listened to my complaint, apologized and seemed genuinely concerned. She called the supervisor and I'm instantly met with the woman I spoke with on the phone. Her manicure is impeccable. She then gives me an apathetic apology. I offer to give her the object, she had no intention of inspecting it. I was floored. Immediately after the janitor cleaned me up - I make small talk (maybe she's having a bad week) about how rainy it's been and that I live an hour away in the country and visit this location weekly as part of my grocery shopping routine. She casually has the customer service desk process my refund. I thought surely she would offer me another box of complimentary cookies (not that I would eat them or anything) or $5 off my next purchase. I got nothing. Absolutely nothing. She tells me she will investigate and call me back. She never made a follow up call. I am completely disgusted at the extra surprise found in my cookies, her listening skills, attitude and overall lack of concern. Accordingly, I am actively looking for an alternative to whole foods.

Worst run Whole Foods. Three days ago got food poisoning from chicken salad sandwich in deli area. Today they only packed half my order in my cart. When I asked them to refund the items they charged me for & didn't give me, they said they couldn't do it. I had to drive 20 minutes back.

Yelp
It would be difficult to over emphasize how much produce has gone downhill at Whole Foods since the Amazon acquisition. I am now regularly finding mold on fruit that's delivered - it's the norm, not an exception. I find better produce at Jewel - amazing how much things have reversed over time. We only buy our meats at Whole Foods - those have not changed thankfully.

Yelp
Needed to order some platters for holiday parties and placed my order through the closest Whole Foods to our hotel. Placed our order online, but they called to verify. Nice. I said I was picking up the order at 3pm on Christmas Eve. Upon arrival, parking lot was very busy, as was the store, but they had a separate table for pick-ups for holiday orders. Went to the table and my order was "almost" ready. No problem, I said, I needed to pick up wine. They had a lady giving samples of wine and filled up my cart. Went back to the table and still not ready. Went to find orange juice and returned. Still not ready. After 45 minutes, a manager came over to tell me that they had run out of the ham I had ordered. They asked if it was okay to replace with another type of ham and they would give me a $25 gift card for my troubles. Nice! They more than made up for their mistake by giving me a LOT of ham; I was able to dole out to many family members. The platters went fast at the parties and I thought it tasted better than I expected. Last note: the parking lot is like a cobblestone surface. Normally not a big deal, but I was in heels since I was heading to a holiday party and worried about falling.

Yelp
Since I left my last review they have really stepped their game up with the produce! Love it!

Yelp
Today I was in the store and there was a noticeable difference in attitude- perhaps the employees I talked to were just in a good mood but everyone was immediately helpful and friendly. Also, when this store gets the produce right, they really get it right- the greens and other produce looked very fresh and healthy- the navel oranges which an employee kindly let me sample were fantastic.

Yelp
Whole Foods Market is a great store. I come here every time I tell myself I'm going to start dieting. They have excellent products that fit every health-nut's needs from gluten free products to meatless products. Their gelato is amazing--more specifically the tiramisu gelato. They'll let you sample as many as you'd like. They have wonderful sandwiches that are made to order. My husband loves the Italian sub. It's normally $8 dollars but on Wednesdays, the sandwiches are half price. They are HUGE so it's well worth the price. You can also get chinese food, pizza, pasta, hamburgers, burritos, empanadas, basically anything you want. It's like a mini-food court in there. They also have a lot of great things you can sample. Whenever they have a new product, you can sample it. The other day we had red cinnamon popcorn. Interesting! I love the staff. Every time I go, I always experience the best customer service. There is an employee in practically every aisle looking to help someone as they are constantly restocking products. The other day I was moseying around the produce looking for squash. One of the guys that worked there asked me if I needed help, but I said no because I was in no rush and didn't mind finding it on my own. After about ten minutes of looking for this damn squash, he said "Ok, you've been over here for awhile. Can I please help you find what you're looking for?" *sigh* He showed me to the squash, but it was a whole one and I wanted it chopped up. I explained that to him, but took it anyways because I felt bad that he helped me find it. Later on, when I was in the freezer aisle, he came and found me. He told me that if I wanted, he could have the deli cut it up for me. He had already asked them to do it and said it was no problem at all. How awesome is that?! The store itself is always very clean. It is well organized and I love the set up. I can always find what I am looking for. They have multiple cash registers and almost 100% of the time they are all open so there is never a wait to check out. The only complaint many people have about this place is the price. My friends like to call it "Whole Paycheck" rather than Whole Foods. I agree that it is pricey, but I don't mind paying extra for products I can't find anywhere else and products that are guaranteed to be organic, fresh, and healthy. I've never had a problem with the quality of the food I've purchased here.

Yelp
Love it! Can't always afford it, but still heart it. The produce is sooo fresh and the place is remarkably clean yet still manages to seem home-y and warm, not sterile and cold. The people there are attractive and supremely friendly. Oh, I mustn't forget how helpful they are. You've got a question, they've got an answer... and if they don't have an answer, they'll never say "I don't know", it's always "I'm not sure BUT let me find out". They trudge through the whole store to find something for you and seem excited instead of begrudging towards you. I'm always amazed at how well versed they all are with the different foods... even the rare and regionally centered foods are just common knowledge to them. They've got a little cafe that's very basic... no fancy machines so they can't do latte's but straight up things are fine. The bakery shop has the sweetest ladies and they carry Chicago Diner vegan cakes & slices... HUZZAH!!! Oh, and I HATE gelato but I took my little brother there one day and he really wanted a cup so I said okay and got a pumpkin spice gelato cup and it was amazing. It tasted like pumpkin pie... not like imitation pumpkin pie spice or flavoring but exactly like pumpkin pie. I die, i just die. Heaven can pick me up here. Also, the whole foods soups are really great, light, and refreshing. This whole foods has other amenities like nice-ish bathrooms... really sweet hand driers, a comfy and homey wifi area, and CUTE places to eat inside and out. The only thing that bothers me is their parking situation. They have spots specifically reserved for fuel-efficiant vehicles but the signs are in no way enforced. As someone who drives a hybrid vehicle (Prius!), It annoys me to no end to see people... oh, I'm sorry, I mean ASSHOLES, park their gas guzzlers there. I have half a mind to get some fake parking tickets and start putting them on their cars. Defo go there, but park your gas guzzler in a regular space or I may accost you.

Yelp
So, I have to ask myself, Are you TOTALLY crazy going here on an EXTREMELY busy shopping day?? Not at all. It was not as crowded as I expected, but it was still before 9 a.m. I had to pick up some last minute items and stop to drool at the gelato bar. I'm thinkin' next year dessert will be gelato for everyone. So what if it is December and it is usually freezing cold with snow. Other reviews have covered the bases. Everyone was very friendly and the store is clean and well stocked with lots of goodies.

Yelp
I can't believe I've never reviewed my beloved WholeFoods. I love this place.....I really do. Started shopping here about 3 years ago. At that time, it was more of a recreational type thing for me and I would just pop in to grab a few pieces of organic fruit or a cup of soup. However now that I try not to put as much junk in myself and my families bodies, I can do much of our grocery shopping there. Don't get me wrong......it's not cheap....but the quality of their products are worth the up charge.....in my humble opinion : )

Yelp
What a disappointment! Whole Foods has lost a customer. Out of stock on many items. Cashier was rude and packed the bag so full and heavy I could barely manage it. Bright spot was the bakery, same good stuff and really nice and helpful staff.

Yelp
I go to this grocery store on occasion because, even though I am aware that the prices here are significantly higher than the prices of products in other grocery stores, I cannot ignore the fact that this store has a wonderful selection of fresh, high-quality groceries. The store itself is always clean, well-lit, organized, and spacious with a lot of things available inside, aside from groceries, some unique food finds, and others. That is why, even if the prices are higher, I still go here from time to time to buy some goodies that are unique to this store. My favorite part of this store is definitely their prepared foods. Each time I went in here, before I would checkout, I would go to their prepared foods selection and grab some of their delicious and fresh sushi and rolls. It is definitely not the best grocery store I could recommend in the area, especially with its prices, but their products are really a good option too.

Yelp
They forgot an item last night of mine and when I picked it up this morning and explained how far my trip was to come back the lady at the front desk on 11/25 around 1130AM went above and beyond to make sure I would leave happy, which I did. It was an honest mistake so I wasn't expecting a lot but she def deserves praise for customer service

Yelp
I love whole foods but this particular Naperville location annoys me. They open at 8AM and at 7:58AM there are always a few people waiting outside the door to come in. The employees inside see that there are people waiting and they refuse to open the door a minute early to let these people in. I'm usually in a hurry in the morning as I have to get to work and its frustrating that they just won't open the door at 7:58 to let me in so I go out of my way and drive to the Wheaton location. Another thing that is irritating is they don't always have salad bowls or plates with compartments and when you ask for one, they look at you like you're stupid and say they don't have any.
