CA Whole Foods Stores Seek Expanded Restraining Order Against Animal Rights Demonstrators Direct Action Everywhere | Eater SF

"I noted that on August 27 a protester at the Petaluma Whole Foods locked herself in a small cage and later attempted to enter the meat prep room, which Whole Foods flagged as a potential safety and consumer-health issue." - Caleb Pershan

Google
Well stocked store despite a smaller than normal footprint. Hot food and salad bar, to go sushi and hot pizza. Restrooms (2) in the back of the store. Well curated produce section. Half traditional check out and half self checkout.

The Whole Foods Market always has some unique items we need in stock. I decided to check out the Whole Foods Market in Petaluma because we needed some seasoning, which we had forgotten to bring. I'm happy to find them there! The Whole Foods Market in Petaluma has a classical exterior that matches the city views of Petaluma. However, the interior also looks dated and less organized than the other Whole Foods Markets I had visited. The store is smaller than most Whole Foods Market stores, too! I am sorry that the employees at this store are not as friendly as the other Whole Foods Markets. I will be less likely to come purchase from this store in the future, even when I'm in the area!

Google
This is a review of the hot bar purchase I made yesterday, 10/24/25 around 5PM. The food all "looked" fine and tasty. However: the chicken bites were dry, and the meatloaf had a horrible texture and flavor - inedible. The brussel sprouts were way undercooked, and the lemon rice was super dry and flavorless. A real waste of $25. This is not the first time this has happened so I have learned my lesson. I won't be returning for hot food there. I gave this a 2-star rating instead of 1 because the guy at the checkout was so friendly and easy going. Sorry to have to write this review, WF people, but I couldn't let this go unreported. Hopefully something will change for the folks that come after me.

Google
This store relatively to other Whole Foods Markets is small. Prices are above average. There are not many people inside the store shopping. Service is outstanding. I wish at least some items were more affordable so that anyone could afford to buy at least something.

Google
Nice Whole Foods. The one in Coddingtown in Santa Rosa is a lot bigger and has a gigantic selection. This location is nice to get many items Whole Foods offers. From fresh fruits & veggies, bakery, dairy, meat dept, salad bar and most things you might need. The clerks are super nice, and parking is usually open. There’s also outside seating (not now due to Covid). I like some of the products in their beauty section and like smelling the essential oils. If you are an Amazon Prime member you get 5% OFF any yellow tag sale items. You can also pick up Amazon items in the lockers.

Google
This place is a sad excuse for a Whole Foods Market. It's so cramped and tight and usually smells bad, like old meat that did not get cleaned up. Employees that still work here have frequently been rude to me and my family in the past. But what made me come to review here is the Amazon returns robot box. Don't use this thing. Also don't let Bezos get away with replacing another employee with a bot. Can't believe it can take up to 30 days for a return to process that you dropped off in this box! I needed my money back ASAP. Is nobody picking up this stuff? If I had taken to another Amazon return location I'd have my money back by now.

Google
Went here for a snack for being WholeFoods-lifted from perfect store and convenience in Santa Rosa. I was wisely stocked up with all my Whole Foods necessities. I found the crowdedness insane plus the lines too long. The bottom line: I checked it out and got disappointed.

Michael B.

Google
This used to be worth the highest prices for items I couldn't find anywhere else. That is no longer true. They have consistently over the last year eliminated every last item I go there for. Today was the last straw, no longer will I waste my time and money for such an inefficient, low quality high priced sanctuary for the most arrogant entitled shoppers anywhere!

Yelp
Such a great selection of food and items. Very fun store with very kind employees. Checkout was fast and outstanding customer service. Our kids enjoyed the desserts, the pecan tart was my favorite, the crème brûlée was my husband's favorite. Fresh squeezed OJ machine.

Yelp
This store is in DESPERATE need of a remodel. We've had this tiny (smallest I have ever seen) Whole Foods in Petaluma for a long time, and while I'd say they've done their best to maximize the space, it's consistently gone downhill over the years. It's reached the point where the entire store needs a remodel to make it work in 2025. The quality and offerings of the hot food, salad, and prepared items are suffering greatly. Of course, these were already small and limited due to the store's footprint, but recently they permanently closed the Market Cocina (taqueria counter). From what I overheard some employees say, it was at the discretion of corporate, and the local store had no say in the matter. Deciding to close one of the only other ready-to-eat options is extremely disappointing. The hot food is now often depleted, dirty, and lackluster. The soups are frequently empty or unavailable, and the salad bar constantly looks wilted and in need of life. If Whole Foods would invest in a remodel (maybe even adding a second story and/or underground parking?), not only would they make a LOT more money at this store, but more people would return more frequently. I find myself shopping elsewhere now, and I really hope Whole Foods gives this store a much-needed refresh soon, though I have a feeling they will not.

Yelp
As each year goes by this store becomes worse. WF has the WORST produce in Petaluma. The staff are mostly hating life and it shows. Prepared food is pretty terrible and the woman that makes the burritos (still wearing a mask) needs to go find a job that she likes because she's nasty.

Dawn R.

Yelp
This is regarding stale or low quality food: Recently I purchased the following items: 365 WF brand dry roasted and salted almonds Peet's Big Bang coffee, and blueberries. The almonds were stale. The coffee was sour and tasted stale too. The blueberries were mushy. Granted, the berries maybe were mushy due to being out of season; I'll give them that. Then maybe they shouldn't be on the shelves? But the other two products were really disappointing especially given the cost. I don't usually write reviews but this isn't the first time this has happened. Thank you for reading.

Yelp
The meat department is great, the store general service is fine, but they're cooked food offerings are the worst. Very sad looking display and offerings. The pizza is so overpriced by the slice and I can't imagine it being any worse looking or appealing.

Yelp
I've had a positive experience with catering orders at this location. I ordered and paid online about a week in advance. I selected a pickup day/time window for pickup. The website is user-friendly and easy to navigate. And I was promptly sent a confirmation email/receipt. Each time when I've arrived, the staff were friendly and anticipated my arrival. They had my order neatly packaged, and organized in a shopping cart for easy transport out of the store. I will happily order from them again.

Yelp
I can't get over an experience I had probably about a year and a half ago. It has bothered me so much that I am still affected by it and feel compelled to write this review. I am Asian American, and I felt mistreated because of my race. I went there and asked a man in the meat department if they had shaved beef, and he rudely replied that they do not carry many Asian foods, telling me to go to an Asian market instead. I could have needed it for a Philly cheese steak. I do not think mentioning "Asian" was appropriate. It was appalling and racist to say the least. I also encountered another incident there, not too long after, when I asked someone when they would have more spring roll wrappers since they had been out of stock for what seemed like more than a month. The woman mentioned that they order popular items and only what most customers purchase, and that spring roll wrappers are not one of those items. She did not acknowledge me as a consumer and worthy of ordering more spring roll wrappers, despite my having lived and shopped in Petaluma for several years. I felt extremely disrespected because I was Asian. I no longer live in Petaluma because I frankly experienced other Asian hate encounters and racial microaggressions in the area or possibly even in most parts of Sonoma County. I have chosen to no longer shop at Whole Foods in general because of the way the employees there were. I would think that the company would instill a more non-discriminatory training, or at least start to. Based on my experience, Trader Joe's is more accommodating to Asian Americans and our consumer needs. Shame on Whole Foods in Petaluma for their racist behavior!

Yelp
This is maybe a smaller store and it didn't have everything that I needed. But, it had really great people and that made the difference. The butchers were awesome. I had never been in this store before and I asked about some product locations. They helped me to find what I needed and gave recommendations. Everyone was so helpful and welcoming. I enjoyed chatting with the woman who rang me up. She offered my son stickers and just made his day. Bathrooms are clean and easily accessible.

Mike J.

Yelp
Everytime I go in there the hot bar isn't full, seems like since COVID they've really been keeping it minimally stocked. Associates always seem to be unfriendly or in a bad mood.

Yelp
I am truly impressed with Whole Foods Market from the items stocked on the shelfs to the number of employees that work there especially with the current supplier and demand situation. And the reason I say this is because their shelves and produce sections are still stocked with lots of items unlike other stores in Petaluma where some are so bare it's scary. And as far as employees, they seem to still have a good number of employees working the floors and cash registers, again unlike other local stores. Yes, some of their prices might be a little higher than others but I noticed that their quality is good. And if you have the Whole Foods app and have Amazon Prime you can get some very good discounts. Every time I go in, the place is so neat and clean, very orderly which makes me feel like I want to browse a littler rather then rush to get out of the store like I do other places that are filthy and chaotic. Whole Foods may be a bit out of the way for me when it comes to shopping but they do have some unique items that you can't find anywhere else, full shelves and friendly employees. Makes you want to shop there even more.

Yelp
I recently had a negative experience with a Petaluma Whole Foods employee (bagger). She told the cashier not to give me the beverage carriers I requested. I had purchased 10 plus bottles of Kombucha and several bottle items and I was told I could only have one per customer. Today, (October 9, 2024) my daughter experienced the same harassment from the same person. My daughter purchased 10 kombucha and requested 2 beverage carriers, but was told by the same person who refused me that these carriers were for alcohol beverages only. She handed my daughter a box, and no carriers. I have a distance to walk with my groceries from the car to my house, and being disabled, the carriers are extremely helpful not to mention safer as well Today, I called the Whole Foods manager, Frank. He said he thinks he knows who the person is, and what she is telling people is untrue. I've been a loyal customer for many years and I've experienced great customer service. Petaluma Whole Foods has very friendly and helpful employees like Linda, Colleen, Shay, and Paul. My experience with the employee who gave me a hard time is not in the same league as the folks I just mentioned. Her attitude towards the customer is unacceptable. If this happens again, I will assume management did not address the situation, and I'll submit a formal complaint through the corporate office and Amazon. Thank you for listening.

Yelp
The employees here are so grumpy and grouchy . Why shop here where you're treated poorly . There's plenty of stores elsewhere to go and get treated better . Other places have better quality and prices . They wouldn't be employed without customers. See ya wouldn't want to be ya.

Yelp
I love going to Whole Foods and even though this one is smaller, it still has a lot of unique items and specialty food items with food and food allergies in mind. I love their bakery and especially the locally baked goods!

Yelp
I had the best experience today with KATY at the register tonight, she had such high energy and she gave me the most wonderful experience checking out!! SHE IS 1000/10

Angela D.

Yelp
I used to love the salad bar and hot bar and soup bar. The last few times I've been here , the hot food bar has not been serviced. Food has dry crust on the top. They used to regularly stir the food and add new food as needed. in addition, the exact same food is three dollars a pound more expensive on the food bar than it is in the refrigerator next to the bar. I've seen this for more than one food item. The other complaint I have is I never know what time the food bar is closing. It used to be nine. Then it was 830. The other night I was here at 7:45 and it was all shut down.

Yelp
This location is small and often does not have items that are advertised for sale. I've twice tried to get the weekly pizza that's advertised on sale at their specific location and they claim they don't have it (one guy told me they don't have tomatoes for the pizza, on another occasion they don't have the primavera pizza). Then why advertise it online and on the app for this specific location? Their workers need training and no one seems to know what's going on in the pizza/hot food station.

Yelp
I shop at Whole Foods almost daily and have for years. Yesterday, 4/3/2025 around 5:00, I was appalled when yesterday I went to the deli counter. The was an older Hispanic woman cleaning a slicing machine and a man down near the pizzas. I stood there FOREVER. NO ONE CAME FORWARD and I've experienced this often in the past month. I tried to get the woman's attention either saying "Hello" or "Excuse Me", I called to her 3 times, each time louder. She was pretending not to hear me. I asked if she could help me, she must have nodded as I don't recall her answering me. I wanted to purchase a ready-made salad and asked when it had been prepared. She picked up 2 different size containers, with a questioning look. I repeated my question and she indicated the containers again. I asked to speak to someone else and she called to the young Hispanic man down near the pizzas. He came over and in Spanish told him I wanted to know when the dish was made, (many more words than just that question) and he pulled out the dish from the case and looked at the date on the reverse side of the label and said 3/26. SO, SHE KNEW WHAT I WAS ASKING!! And, I'd had her wait on me before and I think the employee who came to her rescue that time showed her how to find the date an item in the deli case was prepared. And IF the cucumber, olive, tomato dish was really made on 3/26, then it was 7 days old which explained why I thought it didn't look fresh. Honestly, I can empathize with someone who isn't fluent in the language spoken to them. I'd have a very hard time with that myself if as an employee of a company and I stumbled trying to understand and communicate with the company's customers. NOT THIS WOMAN, NO SHE UNDERSTOOD THE QUESTION. HER WHOLE ATTITUDE WAS SHOCKING. I HOPE WHOLE FOODS FIRES HER, HOWEVER, MAYBE THAT'S WHAT SHE WANTS. So, keep her away from customers because she's insulting to try to work with. And, Whole Foods, why aren't there people working the deli counters and WHY WOULD YOU SELL A SALAD THAT WAS 7 DAYS OLD?
google avatar

Yelp
It seems that this Whole Foods location has signficant staffing problems. I shopped this afternoon, 11/8, and there were no express lanes open (I had one item) and the other lanes were totally jammed up with customers pushing overflowing carts. No one at customer service. Finally an express lane opened but -- whoa -- the guy had a serious air of resentment swirling about him. I greeted him politely but no answer. It was clear he was not in the mood to be a cashier. I get the staff shortage problem but why is Whole Foods lagging behind all others in providing self-checkout? I don't get it.
google avatar

Libby J.

Yelp
This Whole Foods is what people call "A Whole Foods is a Whole Foods is a Whole Foods." (With which I usually starkly disagree.) Good and bad represented in smileys: Small hot food and salad bar :( - Nothing attracted me Lots of samples :) - cheeses, fruits Great cheese :) - Some nice local cheeses and breads Decent shelf stable selection items :/ Anyway, Whole Foods was our first stop. Took a wrong turn and ended up where we were supposed to be...at Whole Foods! This one does the trick, but by far not the best location I've visited.
google avatar

Elisha W.

Yelp
Unbelievably inconsiderate. 3 employees walked by within 2 feet of me and didn't even say hello. I was trying to find some food items for a quick picnic, I ended up going elsewhere. Yay for horrible customer service
google avatar

O O.

Yelp
Breakfast at this location is sad. The breakfast burritos are $7 and $8 premade. Don't expect to find salsa anywhere. And asking for it seems to be shocking to the deli staff. Won't stop here again.
google avatar

Nick T.

Yelp
Do not support this business. Amazon does not employees fairly. I have been mistreated lol. Also, the lady was rude on Thanksgiving and yelled hello at me when I forgot my whipped cream. How dare them. I am going to another grocery store next time.

Yelp
Went to shop on a Saturday at 1:00pm NO SHOPPING CARTS, waited 20 minutes, when a few tiny carts showed up! Bad management

Yelp
Great smaller store not very busy at all they had everything we needed but they didn't have any disinfectant wipes though

Yelp
Went in at 7pm the hot food bar is nearly empty only one pork protein and one dry left over pasta. No rotisserie chickens. So I settled for a burrito , the unenthusiastic staff tells me we only have steak . No beans no guac choices were nearly none. She proceeds to make me the smallest burrito ever for 9.50. I left feeling ripped off and couldn't get what I was looking for. This Whole Foods has generally been bad but it keeps getting worst. May I add no help bagging groceries either. A Total disappointment .

Yulisa R.

Yelp
I went today to buy items from the beauty department and I also went to the floral section and bought some tulips for my mother. There was a misunderstanding with the prices of the tulips so I went to customer service to get a refund and the gentleman named Jack was extremely rude and impatient. He was also being rude to another worker there. It's frustrating when people have bad customer service especially if they are assigned in that department!!!
google avatar

Gypsy G.

Yelp
It 5:45 pm on a rainy night. The soups tins are empty and I ask if they will replenish. Deli gal says no they are done for the night. Really??? It barely dinner time!

Yelp
Great customer service. I was passing a nice day in Petaluma and suddenly remembered in Marin and Sonoma counties they have their dedicated Edible magazine (I am a fan of those freebies) and one of the few places you can get those is at Whole Foods. So that was the main reason I went there, to pick up my freebie. The man who helped me find it made sure I got what I was looking for (as they also sell magazines, sometimes you are redirected to buy instead of get the freebies). Needless to say, I loved the store and started seeing items that I wanted to munch on the way back to San Jose, so I became an instant costumer as well. Good prices considering the great quality they offer. Nice, clean and spacious store for a small town like Petaluma.

Kristyn L.

Yelp
I never feel the need to write a bad review on any company, but my experience here with one simple amazon return changed my mind. I walked into the store for 1 little amazon return this afternoon. The amazon Kiosk is something I had never seen before so I asked the man working the customer service if he could help me instead. He literally rolled his eyes at me and said "well.. right after I'm done with this." I happily said okay even though I was given attitude for no reason. He then proceeds to tell me to make sure I had my barcode ready.. which was already up on my phone. Once he finished helping the person in front of me, he didn't say one word to me and had his scanner pointed to me with a look on his face. Again... super rude and no words spoken. I was so uncomfortable that I told him I'd figure out the kiosk instead. I get if you're having a bad day but I will be avoiding this store in the future. His name was Nick. 0/10 experience.

Julia R.

Yelp
I went to this Whole Foods just the other day to do a return of a product I was unsatisfied with. I was greeted very nicely by Sara at customer service. The first thing she said to me was " Hi, How are you and can I help you with anything today. I then went on to tell her about my situation and she was very understanding and even went out of her way to find details of the product I had got. She gave me a full refund and offered if I wanted a replacement as well. She made my time worthwhile and painless. I'm writing this review because I'm never treated like this at other grocery stores. She was very polite and courteous with me. If I was treated badly by a other grocery store I would not have gone back. But at this Whole Foods their customer service is very skilled and professional. I will continue coming back here still thanks to this nice lady that was there. Thank you.

Yelp
When passing thru (Typically Bodega Bay bound), this has become a required stop to fill up the ice chest. Call me lazy as I don't have the time to prepare meals before heading out to a fishing, picnic, or camping trip. Their convenient ready made meals works for me. It just makes my life a bit easier. From sandwiches, risotto, BBQ skewers, and even pies makes great meals when heading out to the beach. All quality dishes in my opinion. Love this place.

Howard B.

Yelp
This isn't a Whole Foods review but rather a big thank you to the wonderful WF staff last night. My wife suffered a sudden dizzy spell. Three staff people saw it happening and rushed to help. They could not have been kinder. Our thanks to each of you!
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
Since Amazon has taken over, I am happy to see the prices drop but not a drop in quality. The organic, grass fed Ribeyes are approx. $10.00 cheaper than previously. They are so tasty! If you are a Amazon Prime member - be sure to download While Foods app and enter your prime info into it for savings at checkout!

Yelp
I've come here a few times. I think it's okay compared to other Whole Foods. PROS: - location is close enough to me - parking lot always has space - outdoor seating - salad bar and hot food bar - all sushi options are spicy. Nothing without spicy stuff - has good variety of options at meat counter including - Nice staff CONS: - not many tables for outdoor seating and no indoor seating to eat weird little circle of like 10 orange chairs facing each other - shopping carts located at exit but baskets at entrance door - the hot meal bar has literally the same food everyday and it's always dried out. Mac n cheese, carrots, dried out chicken, stale fries, nacho stuff - seafood area closes at 7pm. Last time I went it was closed at 6:45pm. Super inconvenient so I don't buy my seafood from here anymore - bakery is small and pricey - in general the store is really small and doesn't have as much options as other Whole Foods.
google avatar

Jeremy R.

Yelp
Sure, they're expensive but their muscat grapes were amazing! We went back twice to buy more with a final total of almost 10 pounds in 10 days. Plus, what other store has a mochi bar???
google avatar

Larry N.

Yelp
Wen't into Whole Foods, P-Town today for some hot lunch. Grabbed some so called BBQ Chicken. More like BBQ Chicken Scraps for almost $10 bucks a pound. Big disappointment without mentioning the so called "bbq sauce" Really?
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
What a disappointment! I love the stuffing here, so much so that I call ahead to see if the have it just to plan my lunch. Well today they just couldn't get their s together. I don't ask for much, but consistency is key when people are on a lunch break. Almost every day I come a little after 11 and most things are ready. But today I left that store at 11:47 with no lunch. I waited over half an hour was told twice it would be 5 more minutes and I just had to leave in order to get back to work on time.....I also left without lunch. Maybe this is a little spoiled, but I do t care. I wanted a particular item and went there to get it. I expect when they say they will have it they will by a reasonable lunch time 11:30 at the latest. If I had known, I would have simply gone elsewhere. When I voiced my complaint to the manager he simply said oh, sorry. I'm sorry but the least intelligent manager I know understands saying your sorry just doesn't cut it. I'd bet money he didn't even go back to see what the heck was happening back there or provide coaching on timing. So the moral of the story is...if you want lunch...do t go before noon....otherwise you'll be eating the biscuits and gravy they've probably had out since 7am

Yelp
Free samples for the win. My friend and I had trouble mobilizing ourselves inside Whole Foods - we were so smitten with the juicy samples outside of Whole Foods. We filled up on decadent cantaloupe and watermelon before heading inside where there was even a complimentary station with exquisite heirloom tomato salad donned with feta cheese. Beyond What's Up. We stocked up on Wild Alaskan Salmon, fresh fruit, Grindstone bread, avocado, hummus and more. Throughout our Whole Foods adventure - their staff came up to us a number of times to see if we needed any assistance in finding groceries. They were beyond personable. We walked out melon-hydrated and glowing. And yes - we did have a few more cantaloupe samples before getting on on our way. Trust.

Yelp
Let's be real, you know what you're getting when you go to a Whole Foods. Yes, the produce is plentiful with organic items and every healthy food items you'd want is going to be there. As for this Whole Foods location, I am not a fan. I shop here weekly and my car is constantly being dinged in the parking lot. It's always hard to find a spot unless you come at a very weird time. The checkers are hardly ever friendly here to me. Sometimes barely even acknowledging my existence. The guys in produce are always talking about their personal lives and sometimes their stories are pretty inappropriate for work conversations. I always think if I had a kid with me I'd be getting more annoyed. I'd say the only friendly people who work here are all in the butcher area. They are usually very helpful. Overall it's Whole Foods so I'll continue to shop here most likely but I've definitely taken breaks from shopping here due to the lack of friendliness and their horrible parking lot.
google avatar

Dave L.

Yelp
Called tonight to order a whole pizza around 7:45 I was told they didn't have any dough?.. you guys sell dough in the fridge 15ft from where pizzas are made. So I went to the store to buy a pre-made refrigerated pizza but first I asked the same lady that I spoke with on the phone if I could order a "Hot" fresh pizza, this time she said the oven was off? Wait first you don't have dough and now the ovens off, which one is it??? I left and went to Raffys next door. Way better pizza but it's almost double the price.
google avatar

Jenn C.

Yelp
Look - you get what you pay for. I don't shop at Safeway or other mediocre chain groceries because they don't have the same quantity & quality of organic produce, rarely have local produce and they just don't have the same organic products as Whole Foods. That's why this Whole Foods is my "oops, I forgot something!" stop on the way north to wineries, camping, or just a quick bite to eat after a long motorcycle trip up the coast. This store is clean, well organized and always well stocked. The staff are super nice - and they have the most amazing produce displays outside the front door sometimes -- it's a really good Whole Foods. I prefer local co-ops when I get them, but in this neighborhood - Whole Foods is your best bet.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Whole Foods Markets in northern California. The layout makes the grocery store easy to navigate, but if you ever can't find something, there's always a team member that's more than happy to help. The produce is well kept and reasonably priced, the prepared foods department has a number of delicious selections, and the customer service team is super friendly. When I visited this store for the first time, it was around lunch time, so, of course, they were swamped. I wasn't very familiar with the location of most of my items, so I had to ask some different departments for help. Despite the lunch-time rush, every team member I asked for help dropped what they were doing and assisted me right away. I was really impressed with the types of salad bar selections, the hot food sides, and the refrigerated meals. There is something for every taste, so if you want a salad that is already put together or if you're starting from scratch, you can definitely find what you're looking for. I was also pleased with the floral department, as the team member was extremely knowledgeable and more than happy to have my flowers custom wrapped. They have a fresh selection of flowers daily and their bouquets are beautifully arranged.

We ordered our Thanksgiving meal for the fourth year in a row. when we arrived at 8:15 am to pick yo the disorganization was palatable. No one really new was was happening or what they were doing. This is in comparison to the last three years where everything was smooth and no issue. We prepared the food as always following the instructions and the results again in comparison to the last three years were very sad. -the turkey was incredibly dry even after numerous basting when heating up. -the green beans was beyond hard and had to be totally recooked -the dressing was tasteless and uneatable -the gravy was so-so -but what was totally a disaster were the mash potatoes--we tried adding butter, spices, etc.,to make them eatable but o one at out table of 12 could do it. bottom line not sure what the *(&(*^*&^&%%&^^**(. happened this year but for sure no more whole foods prepared Thanksgiving meal. Sad really because the last three years were totally perfect. Is this a result of Amazon??? who knows..

Yelp
Every Whole Foods is eye candy. Just look at the selection of amazing items you really can't afford to buy. The Whole Foods in Petaluma is no different. Amazing selection of specialty items and foods, like cheese, vegan cheese (and other vegan items), kombucha etc. We came that day for the salad bar, our main motivation for shopping at a Whole Foods. We were on our way back from a family reunion and were starving. Only a few items including the salad bar cost us $60! But boy that was a tasty $60. For the first time I tried the Revive Kombucha (made from coffee!). I think all other kombucha has been ruined for me. Unfortunately, Sprouts does not carry this local brand..... Again, I wouldn't come here for normal grocery shopping. But when you want to find those special items, this is the place.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite WF locations. Great bulk and and bakery sections. They offer more vegan pastries than most others and there's candy and trail mix goodies by weight. Pretty cool. They usually have one or more demo coordinators out on the floor, which they seem to have stopped doing in Sebastopol. Who doesn't love samples? My one complaint: They don't carry my Thai noodle soup packets. :(

Yelp
Whole Foods in Petaluma is one of those businesses whose location is the best thing it has going for it. The produce selection is decent with the usual quality items in most Whole Foods. My main qualm with this store is the customer service and the prepared food area. I waited by the sandwich shop for about 10 minutes with no one asking to help. When I tried to get someone's attention, the staff was still unhelpful. The hot food also had poor selection. The only main dish was chicken wings. The salads also did not look fresh. Given its location, this store's management must not feel much pressure to create a good customer experience, the mediocrity shows.

Yelp
I went in two days go to get a custom vegan cake, I asked if they could do vanilla and they said yes but weren't sure if they could do vegan vanilla frosting. I was told that they would call me back the next day and let me know. I didn't get a call so I called, they said they would leave a note for them to get back to me first thing the next day. I didn't receive a call so I called asking for a update, because I need the cake in 3 days and this was getting ridiculous. They then told me over the phone that they can't do a vegan vanilla cake, after I had been told by other workers they could. It's now 2 days before I need a vegan cake for a birthday and it isn't enough time to order in advance from anyone else. I can't believe the shitty customer service I received. I was supposed to get a call back two different days and nobody called, then they tell me they can't do it at all? Good thing I didn't wait for them to call, because I would've showed up and gotten no cake. Very unreliable and I will not be returning. Please improve your customer service skills, because this is a joke.

Yelp
We bought a fresh cracked crab for a dinner party. It was foul! Yellow stinky salty meat. Way past it's prime. I grew up on the coast and Crab should be white and fresh. Shameful to sell any food in that condition. It stunk to high heaven from the plastic bag!!
